Oh Bess, so sorry, I've had shingles and it is SO painful! Hope your case is mild and goes away quickly.

Maree, it's so difficult making decisions like that about our pets.

Pretty good day. I have my stuff sorted so we can store some of it at my brother's while we go to Hawaii, taking only the hot weather clothes with us. Then we'll pick up the cold weather stuff once we're back here again. (Sometimes not living in a home makes logistics a bit convoluted.)

Hi team mates,

Circling back to mention shingles again. I had the shot and then still got shingles but my case was INCREDIBLY MILD. I knew the condition because both my parents had it and my doc confirmed. But it was just a few days, a few bumps and no pain. The doc said the vaccine made the difference. So if any of you have not had it, go for it.

Sorry about the shingles. Good thing you caught it early. And I feel very bad about the cat decision. I can't imagine!

I'm having a challenging week at work but this is the nature of the beat with a major network cutover. I'm getting myself in the frame of mind this is how it's going to be untilt the end of the year. Keeping a smile on my face for World Smile Day!

TGIF!

I have known people who have had shingles and it was very unpleasant. I hope the vaccine works.

Having some stressful times for the next few weeks and I am trying to keep from eating every carb in sight. I did buy a small piece of almond cake yesterday but ate well otherwise.

Good morning teammates!!! Bess how awful that you have shingles and how lucky you are to catch it right away. It is funny that you mention it as I just stopped by the pharmacy yesterday to have them check when I had my vaccine. I am not sure how long the vaccine lasts so I have to so more checking. I do not want to get shingles!!!! Good for you for catching it in time.
Off to get my hair cut this morning....yeah!
Stay safe for those in the oath of Matthew. It seems to have been downgraded according to our news this morning so that is good news.
Congrats to those who are having good weighins. Keep up the good work! I am going in the right direction too?
Toni, lucky you for even being able to contemplate using your kayak this weekend. Not a chance here as we are having quite a rain and windstorm. The first of the year for us.
Have a good day all!

Good morning, checking in early because I have no idea how the day will go.
I had shingles earlier this year. It wasn't too big nor too painful (like they show on the commercials). It was on my lower back and just felt itchy if I leaned back on a chair or lay on my back to sleep. It dried up and went away pretty quickly, within a week. I still took the meds for it.
Happy, healthy Friday teammates. Continue to stay safe.

Bought a dress and pair of shoes for the wedding tomorrow. Realized after I bought the dress that the shoes I would normally wear were packed away in the POD. When I kept the 2 dresses out, I kept shoes to wear with them, not any others. Oh well, it was a nice present to myself. emoticon Still need to get GGD’s present.

We found out yesterday that our new house is completed. So when (staying positive) our buyer’s loan is approved, we can move straight in. We will probably still use the trailer for a while though because we need to buy a fridge, washer/dryer and bed. And also not sure how soon they can deliver the POD with all our stuff! And I know it seems like I say this every week, but we should hear if the buyer’s loan is approved by the end of next week. emoticon

Today is my WW meeting. I should be able to maintain my Lifetime status and score another free month! emoticon

oh MAREE, so sorry to hear about your kitty.

Yesterday was the last day of supplemental progesterone, so the weight gain should stop and in a few days, I should see my weight go back down to where it belongs.

In the meantime, I'll stick to the plan. Already got my work out in. Young Andrew was feeling pretty pleased with himself and gave me a challenging work out this morning.

She believed she could so she did.

Shingles! How awful! I got the vaccine a couple of years ago which will hopefully prevent it. I had chickenpox as a kid, I think everyone did back then, but I had a really severe case. I remember Mom taking my temp, it was 106, and I remember her putting me in the tub pouring cold water on me. It's a good thing no one knew kids could die from it. As horrific as the AIDS epidemic was, it resulted in anti-viral research and medication.

Thanks for the reminder that it's a 3 day weekend. Retirement means you lose track of holiday weekends. The folks on the southeast coast will have other things to deal with. It's starting to look like the storm will loop around and hit them again next week. I can't even imagine having to evacuate my home.

'Mornin' folks. We had our author/dinner last night and I'm always on the clean-up crew. by the time I got home I could only crash into bed. A little bump in my skin showed up on Tuesday and on Wed. Himself said it looked like a familiar rash blooming. It didn't respond to the usual so I hied me to the doctor late on Thursday - and lucky me. It's shingles. She said "good thing you got here within 48 hours. The medicine - valacyclovir Hydro - will interrupt the progression - you should have a mild case. So - just in case you notice a little bump that doesn't respond to over the counter meds, and if you had chickenpox as a kid, do not delay calling your dr.

I will probably only go in to work today to do what is really important and then take some sick leave. I am thinking an afternoon nap is in order.

Jamirblaze - prayers prayers prayers for you and all your loved ones. And dogs. and just all the people and animals who are in harm's way. Maree - welcome to the Monday Holiday club. Toni - brave brave girl - to kayak in October. Welcome Connie - you will love this wonderful group. Christina - the link was to a fellow sparker's blog - her sparkname is Watermellen and the blog post was on Oct. 7. Here's a link to her page:

Good morning everyone, I can honestly say how surprised I am this week. I had a awful stressful week this past week and I still managed to lose a pound.
I'll have to find that winter challenge you found, I see you were talking about it but I did not see the link.
This morning I have a dr appointment with my boy and my girl is telling me it's time to go. I wish everyone a great day and keep sparking

Good morning! Welcome Connie. Looking forward to your dropping in. This team rocks emoticon

Thanks for posting the article about the challenge in Fall-Winter-Holiday weight gain, Bess. It is surely a time to be aware and careful. My own two cents is that it really helps to keep getting outside. Bundling up and taking that walk, etc. I also used to belong to a gym that did a Halloween to Christmas healthy life style challenge. The focus was not just on weight, but on the stuff we know to do to manage weight, energy, health: very Spark-like. There were t shirts!!

Looking forward to a 3 day weekend. Depending on whether Matthew decides to really turn away from the coast, I may even get in my kayak.

Good morning!

Here we are, at another Friday, some with a 3 day weekend. For the second time in my work life, I will join those who have a holiday on Columbus day.

I have a tough decision to make--our cat is suffering from renal failure and her breathing is so labored. She is still eating, but obviously not much of a life. She was a feral cat born on the houseboat about 13 yrs ago that I rescued after her mother left her for dead. So she wasn't the most healthy cat to begin with. I made several calls yesterday. I just don't know...

On the October cycle, my theory is that my body prepares for winter by hanging on dearly to all calories. I am much more successful dropping pounds in the spring and summer. I'll check out the link Bess. Always interested in new points of view!

Speaking of new, welcome Connie! And all those who read these posts. This team has been a huge help to me in maintaining weight loss.

Crossfit this morning and early appointments at work. Lean lunch to pack

Hope all have a safe, happy and healthy day!
