I have a Star Trek crazy family. They have seen every episode of every series and every movie many many times.

Trying to make good food choices but no exercise is showing. I am going to try to get out tomorrow. The temps are coming down to normal so walking is going to be nice

I forgot to check in this morning! I got up and out early to meet a couple women from my running group at the Arboretum for a slow walk/run. It was breathtaking!

We saw a deer munching on some grass in the shade but a spot of sunshine encircled the deer.

I am a bundle of nerves, going over details for volunteering at the Chicago Marathon tomorrow and watching the Cubs game. They're leading but I've been a Cub fan for 51 years... never take anything for granted!

I doubt I'll get much sleep tonight, thinking about getting up early, getting to the parking garage I reserved before the street closings, get checked in and start unwrapping finisher medals and get into place to hand them out. I have several friends and my daughter running. I hope to at least get to put my daughter's on!

Healing wishes to Nell and peaceful days for your kitty Maree!

Cold and SO rainy today - but at least not a hurricane, so we won't complain.

We're heading out for a double feature movie soon - "For the Love of Spock," a documentary by Leonard Nimoy's son. Then "The Voyage Home," which is the Star Trek movie IV - the one where Spock was abandoned on a planet that dies and is reborn, so he is as well - then he has to find the Enterprise. Should be a fun evening. I'm planning to go buy a sandwich and sliced apples to have dinner during the movie.

"Dance as if no one is watching."

Hi all, just having a little quiet time before our big day. thanksgiving dinner today so lots to do in a short while. It is a very rainy day here today so it is ok to be inside for the day. No exercise but I will be on my feet most of the day. Too bad that did not count as exercise.

The daily weigh-in is hard for me to do. I'm still in that retaining water phase of my cycle. I've been careful about my food. Still exercising and the scale continues to creep up. Maddening, especially after 4 weeks of consistent weight loss.I'll get through it.

Today I plan to go on a walk. Husband and I are going to test drive some used cars. We aren't ready to buy yet, but we want to get an idea of what will be best for my back. Then we can comparison shop. We expect to get a settlement from VW in November (we bought one of those deisel engine cars.) and that is when we will buy a replacement car.

She believed she could so she did.

Good Saturday, at work it's been a busy morning. I have a co worker that I really don't want to talk to and she just went to brake. It's ok I'll be going back to work soon. She just did something that made me upset and now she keeps talking about it. I would rather not talk.

Good Saturday Morning teammates!
I had a SUPER long frustrating work day yesterday, but I'm glad we don't have to work on Sunday! It's my sisters' birthday.
Despite the long day yesterday I am up early (and in a good mood) to get to the gym. I like Saturdays for this reason.

Shingles talk: I was in my 30s (which is impossible since I haven't aged a day over 29) when I got it and my Dr said cases this "young" are stress related; no mention of a vaccine.

Happy, healthy weekend everyone!

Dee, from sunny Southern California [Pacific Time Zone]

Had quite the workout day yesterday. After I did a ST routine at home, hubby wanted to go to the gym. So off we went and I got in a cardio workout. Havenít done that in a while. And I maintained my lifetime status at WW. emoticon

Got an update on the buyerís loan. It is in the internal review process and should go to underwriting mid week. So knowing anything by Friday is a rosy projection. I think it will be more like the week after next. emoticon

We are off to GGDís 6th birthday party today then the wedding tonight. A busy day but should be fun. emoticon emoticon

Dee ~ Sounds like you were lucky. emoticon

Donna ~ You must be looking marvelous. emoticon

Sunny ~ Hang in there. emoticon

Kellie ~ Keep smiling. emoticon

Toni ~ Great advice. And keep rooting on your Nats! emoticon I will, donít like the Dodgers at all.

Phebess ~ I feel like that now. emoticon

Maree ~ When do you get to go back to the boat? emoticon

Bess ~ Sending more emoticon vibes your way.

Nell ~ I enjoy the occasional fried food also. Hubby is a great fry man! emoticon

Keeping fingers crossed for a Giantís win tonight.

Good morning. It's rainy and miserable, but it's not Matthew, thank goodness.

Last night I made pan fried trout, and tonight I'll fry a pork chop. One of the glories of being at goal is that I can make these choices: I'd rather have the occasional fried protein than sweets at any time. I'm with Michael Pollan: I only eat fried food I make at home. It takes planning and work to prepare and clean up, so I have to give it extra thought.

Good morning!

I did not know before hearing all of us weigh in was how common shingles are. I can still remember the handful of adults in my childhood who had it and suffered with it. It made me 'hyper alert' for myself and also others when I learned about the symptoms and vaccine.

I hopped out of bed this morning hoping to take my coffee to the dock, but it has been raining, so not yet. If there is a break in the weather we will get out on the boats though. Fall days are beautiful and still--to be used. Snuggling in a stateroom with a little heater sounds sweet, Maree.

I've had a couple of days of good focus on Spark 'essentials.' I dropped one of my Italy pounds and am feeling energized and hopeful again. It still scares me a bit to gain a little weight, and I'm thinking that's not the worse thing. It gets me on it.

First playoff games for the World Series got started. My team, the Nationals, lost, but it was still a fun game. I don't watch much sports, but do like the Series. emoticon

Enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words about my shingles. Mine are in a most embarrassing spot that makes sitting a bit uncomfortable. One more reason to beef up those gluteus maximus muscles. My case is more irritating ... and so am I .... than painful and since I don't have to do anything for the next few days, except read from the stack of books I brought home from the library, I hope I'm up and running about soon. I will get someone else to do story hour next week though - don't need to share any possible chickenpox virus with any young mamas or their toddlers. I also got everything with a deadline on it finished before noon yesterday - feeling very very proud of that - but, alas, not proud enough to keep from eating ice cream out of the carton in a fit of sulks last night. It was only a cup worth - but it was high end. Today I begin again with the healthy choices.

So if you get a bump on your skin, particularly on your torso, and you can't figure out how it happened ... like slapping the mosquito that bit you ... take it to the doctor asap. So worth catching this early, with or without the vaccine. I always worry about being a hypochondriac but man am I glad I didn't put this off.

Again, my dear maintenance pals - thank you for your kind words. back to bed for me.

Good morning!

Bess, (and others who've had it) thanks for sharing your shingle warning. My dr and I discussed the vaccine at my annual physical and she said that I should wait because it only lasts 10 years and there's no booster. But we didn't discuss first symptoms and what to do about it-"the 48 hr window." I've heard other stories of quick action=mild case. Glad you are taking some sick leave to take care of thyself.

We delayed kitty decision and recruited my nephew to check in on her and give her canned food today. She will likely have good days and bad days and yesterday was better than Thursday. I want to spare her any trauma and let her pass naturally if I can, and weigh that against signs of suffering. I had one old cat pass at home while I was holding her in my arms, and that's what I would choose for any pet. But, Lord knows, I'm not in charge of these things.

On a happier note, we are at the houseboat but it is chilly. DH even dug out the little heater to run in the stateroom last night. I had shampooed the carpet last time we were here, so getting ready for the winter lay up. Like the kayaker in you, Toni, we plan to spend a little more time on the water before winterizing, although we'll head home early tomorrow and have parties to attend at home the next two weekends.

Good thing I got in a 2 hr workout Thurs, because I took yesterday morning off to stay with the kitty and evaluate her condition and get to work for an early client appointment (who showed up 40 min late).

Hope everyone has some sunshine in their day today and something that makes them smile (even if it isn't National Smile Day)!!! emoticon
