Get well wishes to Maree's tummy, and Poindextra and Sunny's colds!!!

I heard fireworks last night at midnight - DH was channel surfing and I was reading, but I love fireworks. I looked out our window and decided I could run to the far end of our hallway for a better view - though since it was so late I just walked quickly. Great fireworks though super far away. But it was festive. (I also had a single serving bottle of Prosecco - I rarely drink, so I was definitely a little tipsy. But again, that was about the limit of our festivities.)

I finished the scarf for a nephew, then went out for a bit. Oh, and laundry, LOL. Starting a new year off with clean laundry seemed like a good idea. (So nice to be in a hotel with a laundry room.)

Happy 2019 to all!!!

I have the same problem! After looking at some of the decorations for a month, I don't see them anymore, and forget to remove them.

Happy New Year from Canada. We have a lovely evening last night and not one of us would have dreamed that we would stay up until midnight but we did. It was so much fun and it felt good to have lots of laughs. We were offered champagne at midnight but had to decline. I drank lots of sparkling water so that was fine with me.
Now to tackle 2019 and whatever it brings we can handle it.
All the best to everyone!
Plan A is to tackle taking down Christmas today Letís see if I get everything. It usually happens that a week later I find something hidden away that I missed, emoticon

Since my daughter left Iíve become less social. The only people I socialize with (in person) are the people at the gym and my friends at my cookie cutter club. I donít like going to parties. Iíd rather stay home. That said I can turn on the personality of friendly in a second. I enjoy seeing my neighbors and seeing what their doing. But all of these are short term and Iím happy to be alone again.
Iím not into New Years, itís just another day. Iím treasurer of my club and I have lots to do today. I take the job seriously and I like all the numbers and issues resolved quickly. I also believe in transparency.
Thanks for listening to me self obsessed. At me to the list of those sick and tired of it.

WarriorSue sometimes the parties nearby seem to be put on by people who have no concept of neighborhood.

My cold is hanging on so a quiet day for me today. I think there is a nap in my future and then Will see the DD and DGS later today

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
I'm on the couch with a clogged head and purring kitty. What a crummy way to start the new year (cloggedness, not the kitty:)). It can only get better from this, right?

I hope you all have a great day.

Toni, I like that idea of today being about hibernation and renewal day. Since I'm back to work
in the morning and the weather isn't all that pleasant, I think I will do that. Also, a nice long walk on the treadmill rather than a run today. My body is feeling a little beaten up these days, I am trying so hard!!

Last night was just blah for me. I have a very bad attitude about new year celebrating, I am sure I get it from my Dad, who, historically, hated it and thought it was phony happiness, LOL.
It was absolutely pouring rain last night, which kept the loud party around the corner out of their backyard, so it was slightly quieter. Also, no fireworks. Sheesh, I sound like someone standing on their front step yelling, "get off my lawn!!" LOL. I am usually not like this, I promise! I forced myself to stay up until midnight, gave the hubby a quick peck and was off to dreamland.

Hugs all around!!!

Happy New Year! emoticon

We went to a friend's house for a party last night, fun, laughter, cuddles with their dog and a rousing game of left, right, center. Lots of laughs!

Today is the Lifetime Fitness Center's Commitment Day 5K. They do this nationwide. It's not till 10:00 so I'm waking up slowly!

Then it will be an afternoon of downtime and comfy clothes before digging back into work. Today the 30-day yoga series with Yoga With Adriene comes out. I look forward to this every year.

Here's to a healthy and happy 2019!

I was in bed by 11, but couldn't put my book down until I finished it at 12:30. I heard fireworks, so someone was celebrating.

Today I take down all the Christmas trees and decorations and put it all up until next December. It used to be the most depressing day of the year, the house looked so stark, but a couple of years ago I hired a decorator, a "home stylist", to help me make it look nice. Now my house looks the way I want even without colored lights and fake greenery.

I hope you feel better soon, Maree. Being sick is a tough way to start winter.

Good morning and welcome to 2019! Now if I can just remember to date things correctly. Sometimes it takes me until Easter to accomplish that, lol.

I think of this day especially as hibernation and renewal time. I will update my paper calendaróstill prefer that over electronic. I may catch up on cards I did not get out for Christmas and enjoy the day thinking of friends near and far. Like many of you, I need down timeóalone time. For me that is usually between 5 am and 7. Iím back to journaling now and appreciate the perspective it gives me in the mornings.

Wondering how each of you spends New Yearís day?

Toni

Oh Nell - what a heart break. That's how I lost my nephew - that little boy who loved woot beer. I'm glad your friend has you.

Maree - thank you for starting off the year for us - with your usual cheerful good sense - especially if your tummy is still off. Hope that bug leaves soon.

Phebess - I love the new photo. And I love love love the hat

Sunny - isn't it interesting how many of us begin to prefer quiet, family oriented celebrations as we get older?

Donna - You really do have sticking power - and I hope 2019 brings some good health joy to your family

Kellie - it's the hardest part of being a parent - letting our children solve their problems. Wishing your son some comfortable answers to the new car issue

Warriorsue - I LOVE seeing your avatar here on the forum. Glad you're part of the team
Oh Toni - you're feelin' the feeling. Me too. I love an Eve. And I particularly love an eve after my house is deep cleaned. Hugs!

Poindextra, Econ lady - I'm sure the book is Please Understand Me and, like Econlady, the first time I took the test, I ended up as all x x x x too - which, the book says, shows that you are in a place of conflict and indecision. Which I was- as I transitioned to an empty nester when my son went off to college. Later I took it again and got something I recognized as me. Like Poindextra, I'm an E and I'm married to an I. I draw energy from others, he must be alone to create. And since coming to completion is SUCH an issue for ENFPs, I made sure to hire people who loved to put things away in alphabetical order. I had the best staff at work and I'm sure it's because we were all different.

Today I will take down Christmas. It always hurts a little - especially the beautiful tree - but 2019 deserves it's own special treatment and that doesn't include nostalgia for Christmas 2018. After that job I'll take a bubble bath and start writing my New Year's Resolution thoughts. Let's really rock 2019!

Good morning!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a year of excellent health and fitness, and that at least one of those dreams you have will come true.

Nell, sending sincere condolences to your friend and her family on the loss of her son. Sounds like his demons were too powerful. We can only pray it doesn't happen to our children and grandchildren.

No hangover here, but I'm still dealing with a sick tummy. DD had several of her friends over last night, I made a polite appearance but was in bed before 8 pm.

Lots of diets start today. We still have a refrigerator packed with specialty items. Some will go home with DD, some in the freezer, some pitched. Lots of water for me.

Bess, I bet completing that project feels as good as losing pounds!

Soggy day yesterday, cold the next few days but warm (50s) sunshine predicted for the weekend. After we kiss DD and DGD goodbye, I'll spend time in my office catching up on paperwork/financial chores. And resting in hopes of shaking this tummy crud!

Hope all have a great day!
