Hello goodnight my friends. In bed in the nick of time!

Donna, even here in the US, without needing a second opinion, it can take forever to book appointments or procedures. When I first was told I needed a knee replacement, my dr was not available for 3 or 4 months - he was all booked up! And even though DH called about physical therapy in late June, he couldn't get an appointment until mid August!!! I think it's the repercussions of being part of the baby boom.

Econlady, hope your feet and legs feel better soon!

Happy birthday month, Jamir! When is your birthday? I'm on Saturday!!! August birthdays are great, we know we'll have warm weather!!!

Nell, so the assisted living place definitely has room? That's great! She'll get the care she needs, you'll get fewer panicked phone calls. And I'm sure she'll settle in. My mother stopped recognizing home as home by the time we moved her into a care facility, so she adapted pretty well - especially when they had music events, so she could sing along. Your mother will find things to enjoy, and other things to complain about - but if she's like my MIL was, she may enjoy having things to complain about.

Bess, is there maybe a school furniture supply place near you? They have great things, often at lower prices than office furnishings. And smaller, too. (OH, is your area prone to flooding? After our school was half destroyed in Hurricane Hugo, I insisted on putting our new cabinets on casters. Best thing ever!!! Those cabinets survived Hurricane Marilyn's flooding seven years later, made it easy to roll the cabinets to the gym for storage all summer, roll back into our portable classrooms for 5 years, and eventually roll into the new school. STILL in use today, some 15 or more years later. Worth the expense!)

Toni, take it slow - all the home chores can wait while you catch up on sleeping and life.

Bea, my morning started like that too - went to start my laundry but the guest laundry room only has two washers, and both were in use. By the time they were free, DH was ready for lunch, plus the hotel started testing the fire alarms and they were going off and on all over the hotel. (They offered us ear plugs, but we just went out for lunch.)

Do you ever feel like you're busy all morning, and yet you don't accomplish much?

Thats today. We're going camping tomorrow and will be gone for the weekend. I haven't even started to get ready. Thats the project for this afternoon.

Morning all, just for the record the shot I had the other day was in my hip. Yes the sad news is I need both a hip and knee replacement but it is the hip that is causing me the most pain right now. Very poor diagnosis from my other specialist. This having to get a second opinion has delayed everything for me. It, I am good right now and will enjoy the break while I can.

Econolady, great news that you do not have asthma. I hope you feel better soon. also, your cookie is once again is amazing. We have so much talent in this group.

Toni, enjoy getting your life back to normal. I love having a tidy home too.

Kelli, I hope you have time for that walking break today. It is good for the soul. It definitely is hard keeping up this work pace for so long.

Bess, hapoy shopping. This studio is going to be the perfect artistic haven!

Nell, I hope things go well today at the new care facility. I can just imagine how hard this will be for you.

Phebess, hope you are able to get out today. I bet you are missing your walks.
I am off to do a few errands this morning. Love being able to think about doing that...

Thanks for the compliments on the cookie. Iím hoping to tackle CinderellaĎs carriage next. I want to do the carriage in orange that shimmers and the wheels and such in gold. Adding characters is too difficult for me. It will have to wait until hubby and I get back from Portland. He is interviewing someone up there.

Ive been having nasty leg pains that keep me from sleeping. In the beginning it was my low back, but now I think I have aggravated my plantar fasciitis from the weight gain and it is made worse by walking. So what do I do for exercise? Today Iíll take my bike in to be cleaned up and Iíll go to the pool. Even if i can only swim a little, itís a start, plus walking is easier on my feet. I also need to go back to basics and measure all my food. Itís time to go back to the mantra that losing the weight is more important than any food.

Good morning! Happy August! Happy Friday Eve! If I can get something taken care of today, I'm very much considering taking tomorrow off (and it looks like I will).

Toni - Not my birthday, but the guy's. It is now my birthday month, though. emoticon

Econlady - that is a big cookie! Sand castle is very cool.

Nell - I haven't gotten to the point of accompanying mom, yet, but I've threatened to. I don't think she lies to the doctor, but she isn't forthcoming with me. She told me that she is on metformin because she is "pre-diabetic" but it later came out that she's diabetic (and hasn't changed her diet much, ugh). Or she won't be compliant with instructions and will hedge on whether she has been. Frustrating, but she's 70 and as yet competent, so not much that I can really do.

Maree - Plans with you DGD sound like fun!

I've to get to it. Hope you all have a great August 1!

Good morning.

Econ, I used to bake gingerbread cookie for the Christmas cookie house, delicate work, but you decorate those after assembly. And they are intended to break. I used to give my kids dinner knives and they'd bust it up with the handles and eat the pieces. It was fun. It's great you don't have asthma. I have had asthma all my life.

This morning my brother and I will go to the assisted living to start the process of moving Mom. He wanted to bring his girlfriend, absolutely not! That woman stole $1500 from me 10 years ago, about the same time she stole $3500 from someone else who sued and won it back. She fancies herself an interior designer (she's not), gets a retainer from suckers like me, then does nothing. My brother either doesn't know or doesn't care, he is pretty much supporting her these days, but I don't want her anywhere near Mom's money or her possessions. Mom could live a long time, she'll need every penny.

Well - I was posting about what I did yesterday and realized it was waaaaay too long for here - so I copied it into a blog. Suffice it to say I spent yesterday with family at Jamestown watching a very well done reenactment of the first legislature ever held in North America. Cool beans, huh?

And the scale is saying encouraging words to me. Today I'm heading for a big box store to look at kitchen cabinets because, yes, Maree - office furniture is way too big for my needs. DH was so excited about "helping" me furnish the studio and he was sure we could find what we wanted there. Since I am an inveterate shopper - the true hunter/gatherer type - I can shop just about anywhere any time. And who knows - I might have found something I could use. I'm looking for storage for large sheets of paper so map files would be nice but they're reeeeeealy pricey - even used. I think I can make do with 24" deep shelving.

Goodness - now this post is growing lengthy - I better hop off but I leave you all warm wishes for a wonderful day! Ta

Good morning!

Ah, Maree, I remember the fun of being in a watery world with my son and his friends. Such a great idea for a summer outing. Let us know if you tackle the big slides!

Phebess, hope your medicine has kicked in and that you feel better and can move about after your quarantine.
You seem to be making the best of an intense work time, Kellie. Glad you got that walk in for YOU.

Econ - I too loved the cookie and can imagine how frustrating having one break mid-decorating would be. And bravo on no asthma.

Sunny, Iím glad to hear you are having a lovely summer. The NW is also. It was heavenly to be there.

Jamir, happy belated birthday!

I love hearing you can move without pain, Donna, and can anticipate and appreciate the future after your upcoming surgery.

Bess, I expect to be in the Ďfront rowí when you take those pics of your completed studio!

Nell, I am hoping your choice of a care center for your mom is closer to you so there is less wear and tear on you in those visits.

Iím still bailing out and doing home tasks after our trip. I did significant laundry yesterday and making steady progress on reclaiming the house. Weíre staying in the city an extra day so we can leave things tidy before we go to the lake.

Have a good one, every body!
Toni

Good morning, team!

Donna, it's so good to hear you are able to resume activities you love without that nagging pain in your knee. Is the surgery scheduled?

Econlady, great job on the big cookie! And good news that you don't have asthma.

Bess, did you find office furniture to be too large? It really fills up a room, that's for sure.

I think having the ability to do what you want to do, when you want to do it, is a great definition of "aging well." Whether it's still earning $ or traveling or enjoying home life. Toni, it sounds like you've got the right balance. In fact, I'd say that fits most of us "older" maintainers here.

DGD and I enjoyed our afternoon together. She got her hair cut to her shoulders and couldn't stop flipping it around! It really does look cute! We shopped for DH's upcoming birthday and loaded up on fruit and vegetables from Sam's. Bike rides to the local park is also a favorite pastime.

Crossfit class, packing my lunch, traveling for work -- today's agenda. Tomorrow afternoon will be "water park" with DGD and some other cousins.

Hope all have a great day!!
