I was bitten by the girl scout bug....my friend at work asked me, and she always used to buy popcorn from my son in cub scouts. I really got them for my husband and my son....I will have to ask them to hide them when they get here!!

By the way...avoid Bob Evans Biscuits like the plague. I ate 2 today at lunch not even realizing how many calories are in them!! 500 calories!!!!!!!!I stayed extra long at the gym today to try and burn some of them off!! Never again will I eat those stupid biscuits!!

tonight is my big challenge. Home town basketball. Love the Hot dogs, nachos and popcorn. I will have to very strong to get through this season.

Hope everyone has a great day and stay strong. The girl scouts haven't started selling yet. At my work we don't have any the age and the don't come to my neighborhood and I still have some from last year so it should be easy to say no.

I am staying home the rest of the weekend and filing and organizing like a lot of you.

Hello Everyone, TGIF!!!
Wow! I read every post and it goes so fast that I already feel like I am behind. Congrats to all staying away from the cookies! I am trying to do that also. Got some more cleaning done today on my kitchen this time. I am just bouncing around from room to room!! lol

Lesley- Thanks for the encouragement on the organizing. I feel a little "lighter" with each thing I do! lol It is 4 years of accumalation that I need to get rid of before I move. I have cleaned just have a lot of stuff to get rid of. Be glad when i have gone through the whole apt and Salvation Army comes to pick it all up!

Carrie- I agree with a clothes swap! I would have a lot to send. I have clothes in all different sizes just trying to keep only the ones that fit now. I have gone down a size in shirt to 2x and did what my ww leader suggested and shopped at a Thrift Store. I hit a sale that day and got 5 2x shirts for $10! I am just going to do that as I go down so I save money and have clothes that fit. Hope you find some too soon. It feels good to get the ones that fit.

Best Author on Simplfying is Elaine St. James. She has wrote a lot of them and is reallly good.

Sharon- Hope your daughter gets into OU. It is a great University and huge! But it gets smaller when you start taking classes. The stadium is huge and with the students the population is high but it is a small town and easy to get to know people. She will love it!

Janeal- Thanks for the compliment! I try to stay positve as much as I can. I don't always feel good about myself but do right now because of losing weight and getting rid of stuff. Thanks for the encouragement!

Well hope everyone has a great Friday. It is still cold here so I am staying home watching Dateline and 20/20 tonight! Hope everyone has a great weekend too. Darla

Cookie Update. No offense to the Girl Scout families out there.

The cookie pusher has sent out her 3rd e-mail in 3 days.

Quote "We will be happy to supply you with your cookie fix during lunch and before or after working hours. Just let me know how many of each kind of cookie you would like. Email me back the attached form or just call."

OMG! But, no pressure here and I'm not even thinking about it. I went to Whole Foods and picked up some hummus, almond milk and tofu noodles plus I just ordered The Spark on Amazon.

emoticon I will not be swayed! emoticon

Thanks Jeneal & Lesley for the NO cookies support.

Hi everyone!
Just finished some Tae Bo & some on the mini trampoline, as well as doing the Body Bootcamp's daily challenge. (a 10 SP lower body workout video) Time for a protein shake and get busy with other demands!
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Way to go girls with all the posts! let's keep it up.

lesley-I was never a water drinker until 18 years ago when I was pregnant. I craved water. Of all the things I could crave during a pregnancy, mine both times was water. How boring, but I have stuck with it. I get in way over the 8 glasses a day. There is however a day here and there that I don't get it in and then I feel it.

So, here is my water toast to all of you!

Annie

I'm on twice in one day!!!!

I want to join the water toast emoticon Now I need to drink some for real, I've only had coffee so far.

Does green tea have caffeine, because non-caffeinated drinks do count toward water, right?

Good morning everyone! I don't have much time today, but I wanted to quickly share that for the first time, I came in under my recommended calorie limit yesterday! And I didn't starve to death as I expected :-)

Happy Friday Team!

The weekend is almost here. There are so many members on this board which is awesome but I'm having a hard time keeping up. I did read all the posts and am glad to hear everyone is doing pretty good working your programs.

My week continues good too. I think I reached my oatmeal quota for the week. Had it 4 times. Today I switched it up and added some fresh blueberries and a small pack of raisins. It was good. Working on my menu for next week so I can go stock supplies over the weekend. Looks like I will be visiting Whole Foods and Costco.

I'm looking forward to next week's gym time. I'll be off my restricted 20 minute cardio sessions and can up the intensity factor and put in more time. I'm ready. Going to look at the class schedule and try some new things too.

Dangerous times. The Girl Scout cookie pushers have arrived. LOL. There are 2 sellers within 50 ft of my desk and 1 of them is relentless. I’m sticking to my resolution. No processed foods, cookies or junk fast food for a good 5 months and I’m sticking to it.

Have a great weekend team!

Denise

Good Morning,

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and I forgot to mention I am from Coweta, OK which is about 20 minutes from Tulsa.

I'm trying to get motivated this morning. I've been staying inside during the icy cold days so I find myself wanting to stay curled up in my blanket. But I will get it together here soon.

Cheers to everyone. (water toast):)

Good Friday morning, Team! Whoohoo, the weekend is here!

Kathy63- Did you sleep well going to bed hungry? I'm proud of you for not taking seconds! Way to go :)

Carrie- I so agree on a clothes swap, wouldn't that be awesome to do! What a great way to get us through different sizes while losing weight :)

Cheryl- I am so happy you're out of the 220s!! I can't wait to get there myself. Awesome job on your 4lb loss :)

KIRCHDS- You rock! Getting up that early, wow! I admire that! And then to the gym! That's awesome :)

Beth- I was wondering where you went to! Sending you {{HUGS}} & positive thoughts to stay on track, you can do it!!! Take care of your knee :)

Annie- Enjoy your day off! I never used to drink water, and now I just love it. I hope you get all your water in today :)

Sharon- Great trick you shared about getting water in @ work! My mom puts 8 elastic bands on her glass & when she drinks a glass, she removes one. Keep warm :)

Jeneal- Ooh, I'm happy you're caught up at work! Now you can relax, it's Friday! Enjoy the game! Thanks for the congrats, I appreciate it :)

SUESZAREK- I've never had green tea! I'm not sure if it counts as water, but great questions. I'm going to research that today! Keep warm :)

Have a wonderful and healthy day, everyone!

We all seem to be having a cold spell! This weather is something - I've got about 8" of snow in Chicago. Sure don't want to drink cold water in this! Does drinking hot Green Tea count? I make myself a cup of that several times a day to warm up. I would think it would... Does anyone know?

Thanks - Spark On!

I found the light at the end of the tunnel!!! I will be "finally" caught up, when I leave work today! So, since, I haven't been able to in a long time. I am going to spend a little time here this morning. I actually read every post. YAY!

Lesley - congrats on your loss! You are such a sweetie, so encouraging, and caring.

Brenda - glad that you had a good first week!

Darla - it is so great that you feel good about yourself, it shows in every post. You are like a ray of sunshine. You keep up the good work. :)

Val - I hear you about the water - once the weather turns cold, I don't do so well either. I had a 25 day streak (my longest) at one time and I don't think I've had more than a 2 day streak since it turned cold.

Witchymummy - Wow, what a help your son will be to you on your journey.

Annie, enjoy your day off.

Good job, Kim

Carrie, you must be looking good woman - you know the scale is not the only symbol of success.

Cheryl - 4 POUNDS - way to go!

Kirchds - I tried yoga, because everyone was talking about it. I bought me a beginners yoga tape - hated it. It was boring, the instructors voice almost put me to sleep and I did not feel like I had done a thing afterward.

Hello to everyone and have a nice weekend.

The NFL playoffs start Saturday - "GO COWBOYS"

Morning everyone....seems like we are all fighting the cold, 16 degrees here in Texas this morning...that is burrrr cold for us :0)

My tricks to get my water in: I keep an 8oz cup on top of the water cooler at work, every time I walk by it I have to take on glass full...also carry a 1 liter bottle with me. I make myself drink 1 bottle on the way to work and one on the way home. By doing these things I average 13 to 17 glasses of water a day.

Sodas, diet or not, are just evil! They are the devil in disguise.

Crystal light: be careful of this and other flavored waters as they have Aspartame in them which is one reason that diet soda is sooooo bad for you!

Green Tea is a great option, but cannot be counted as water intake because it is a dieratic Fresh brewed is the best. Some individual packets you add to water will also have Aspartame in it...so read those labels.

Well, that's my knowledge for today :0)

Kim: Welcome, what an AWESOME start you are having. What part of OK are you from? My husband is from Guthrie, family there and Edmond.

Star: WOOHOO Alterations! that is great :0)

Darla: My daughter just applied to OU for next fall, keep you fingers crossed.

Kathy63: Never tried to make my own enchiladas before, but my family would be excited if I would make something other than chicken or fish.

Carrie: Guess we could always do the "Traveling Pants" thing :0)

Cat: WTG on the lose this week, you are making great progress...Keep it Up!

Kirchds: I think Yoga is a great way to wake the body up in the morning. I wish I could get up @ 4:30 and w/o, but I just can't seem to go to bed early enough.

Beth: I think eating is one of the harder things to get under control, just because of our environments...doing little things at a time add up to major changes...stick with it you'll make it!

Denise: Hope your staying warm on your side of town :0)

Well, I better get off here and get to work.

Have a Happy Healthy and Active Day

Ilike the colthes swap idea also. I suggested it at my gym and they thought it was a good idea, but lets see if they do it. I myslef do not like to pack things away, I don't like the clutter. I wonder how much it would be to ship clothes? I have bought some off of ebay, but some of them were not my style, so I shared with others.

I took off work today and plan to do a 30 minute stretching dvd and then workout with the Dh after he gets off of work.

Need to emoticon lots of water today, did not get it in yesterday and I feel it today.

Beth-Hope your knee feels better before your dance class.

Hi all,

I have not posted in days. I tend to do this with things, get on a good roll, committing to doing something for a couple of days, then disappear. I went back to my school internship (aka work) at the Psych Hospital on Monday so mornings got hectic again. Today is my day off and morning is when I usually check in with SP so I took the opportunity to sign on and write.

I am still committed to "building proud" and I feel like I am doing that, but I have had little to no progress with the food and I think I may have even gained a lb or 2. UGH. I wish I could magically fix whatever is keeping me stuck here. Maybe I should go over to the Emotional Eating Team and see what they are talking about.

ANyway, it is good to take this action. On a positive note, I took another dance lesson on Tuesday and it was wonderful. Have one again tonight. Yeah. And, although my knee, the meniscus, hurts from the activity, my arthritis is happy that I am moving. It's such a balance! At least the exercise is back.

Have a good day all.

Beth

Good morning!!

Lesley, I am jealous. I am somewhat of a packrat, but hate clutter. My husband is worse than I am. We keep all kinds of stuff and just store it in the basement. Whenever we move out we will have to call for a huge dumpster!!

Darla, good for you....what did you read? I need help with simplifying!

Kathy, nice job not going back for more. It is so hard to resist seconds when you have made something good.

I got up at 4:30 this morning and did some yoga. I know they say you get a workout with yoga, but since the sweat is not dripping off of me, I don't feel like I am getting a workout. I plan to go to the gym and do some cardio this afternoon.

Have a good day!

Good morning all,
I hope you are all warm and safe in this cold snap we are having here in the U.S. and Europe. Daughter's school is delayed for 2 hrs so I am hoping to get a walk in after I put her on the bus. Today was weigh in day and after not losing anything last week, I am down 4 lbs. I am out of the 220's and loving it. The thought that keeps me going in this cold weather is that spring is going to be great. I hope you all have a healthy day today! Cheryl

hey there..

darladaily, I would also like to the clothes sweep! Too bad we all did not live close together, we probably could be switching off clothes due to different sizes needed!

I am getting lots of comments on weight loss, but the scale is not budging. I am not discouraged, I know eventually the scale will change. But I need new clothes.

Enchilladas ... yummy, I have never tried to make them but I know,

I would eat the whole enchillada!

Have a great Friday everyone. I lean on this daily chit chat!

Hi All!

Just checking in before I go to bed hungry. I made enchiladas for dinner...and used up all my calories so I can't have a late snack :(. I'm sure I will live though....and the enchiladas were yummy! I did have to exercise tremendous will power to not go back and eat more just because they taste so good. Sometimes it is easier just to not cook and torture myself!

I hope you all have a good night.

Wow, Darla, I am so impressed! You are working so hard towards making your home what you want it to be! That's awesome. I'm a person who never keeps anything, which isn't always the best (especially regarding my kids' things from their school years!) I just never liked clutter or too much stuff.

Good for you for simplifying your life!

Hello everyone,
Annie so glad you did not freeze too much and glad noone was out there and needed help.

Kim, I am from Oklahoma too. I go to OU and live in Norman. I am proud of you for being able to give up the pop entirely! I am not that strong yet. I have to have my diet dr peppers! But I have cut them way back and drink more Chrystal Light and Hot Chocalate! Not crazy about water but get it in sometimes.

I went through a whole lot of my clothes yesterday and today and got rid of so many that i just never wear. I have more clothes and books than any one human being should have!!! lol I have a lot of washing and more sorting to do of the clothes this weekend. I am going to do the same in my kitchen. I have food that a food pantry could use that I don't eat anymore. I have been reading a bunch of books on simplicity and just really want to make my life as simple as possible. As long as I have my computer, books, my journal and notecards to write people then i am a happy camper!!! I am kind of medium maintence! Everyone have a good night! Darla

SHALEGRA- That sounds lovely! All the better to have it held in different homes. I really like that idea, more personal and intimate! Nourishment for the soul!

MAMAMIAX3- It's the Spark Boot Camp Body Challenge. You can find the info here: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness_artic

Annie- Good thing you're back in the house safe & warm! Exercise comes in the strangest places sometimes, doesn't it! Enjoy your day off tomorrow!

Kim- Hello & welcome to the team! Congrats on the loss so far & on quitting the pop! That's a hard thing to do! Keep Sparking! I wish you lots of success on reaching your goals!

Wow, they have cancelled school again for tomorrow. It's going to be too cold, the temp won't get above 0. I will try to see if my car will start in the afternoon so I can go to my 2nd job and watch films. I will miss 2 days pay this week now- Grrr- just when I thought I would get ahead. I got my scrubs out and tried them on, I can wear the XL ones even though they are loose but the 2X tops will have to be altered. I wish I had a good sewing machine, I might try to use mine anyway and see how it goes.

I watched TBL with my DD and her friend. It was mean to put the contestants through such a grueling workout when they are so out of shape, but they did the mile run last season. They don't seem very compassionate.

Hi, Im Kim, I live in Oklahoma. I am 43 and have about 50 lbs to lose. I've started out by quitting the pop. I was addicted to Dr. Pepper, but I've made it 9 days now without it. I don't even try the diet pop because it would just make me want the real thing. I drink water, but I find it hard to get in my 8 glasses a day. I have lost 4 lbs so far.

hey all!

The snow is so beautiful. Darn cold out though. My ex called and said his girlfriend heard someone calling for help behind my house, so ding dong me goes out to check. Wow was it cold, that wind just went right through me. Of course I was not really dressed for the weather. I live on a lake so I ran out to make sure no one fell in the lake and did not bundle up, did not find anything. Thank God for that. Came in and thawed out, but did get a good workout in going through the snow, up a hill.

Have the day off tomorrow, so I am thinking that I will get a really good workout in. The gym will be closed again so I can go in and do what I want. Then when Dh gets off of work it will be off to the Y with him. Life could only be better if I lived in the Northwest or Alaska.

Stay warm all, and check on friends and pets.

Annie

In reading thru the posts, I have to agree on a few points - Soda, diet or not, is terrible for us. It does make us crave sweets/carbs.

Also, the interconnected thing is so true! I find if I don't have a good day exercising or eating I feel so horrible it affects my attitude (tend to be short-tempered, because I am really mad at myself, and take things out on others when I should not), and in general I feel very dis-com-bob-u-lated and disorganized.

What is this boot camp thing everyone is talking about? Is it a SP video? Sounds interesting and a nice break in my routine.

Good job everyone for getting your workouts in - it will pay off.

Hoping for a snowday tomorrow here in Michigan!

Livin: Life Group is what our Church calls Bible Study groups...our groups meet on their own in homes. My husband I led our group for about 5 years and this past year was such a challenge for us that one of the other couples took over for us. There are about 7 regular couples in the group and we meet every other week.

Hi everyone...oh Witchymummy, how wonderful to have someone look at your food logs!

All is a-ok with me. Had a great run at the indoor track with my training buddy tonight. She brought me homemade red pepper jelly which I absolutely love!

Work is still hard but I am happier to have some routines back. My exercise helps me cope better for sure.

Humming along.... Hope you all have a great night!

Cold temperatures and snow here where I live as well. School got out early yesterday and was closed today. Hopefully the boys will be able to get back into school tomorrow. But, if they can't I am thinking I will leave daddy with the boys and get out for a walk anyway.

My oldest son is training to be a fitness instructor and his current coursework is dealing with helping people with diet and weight less. So, he'll be looking over my food logs for the past and next month as part of that. He is very supportive of my getting healthier.

Figure out where you want to be, then work backwards from there.

Hello Sharon! Good for you for getting in a good workout! Feels good, doesn't it? Drive safe, ooh, I don't like icy roads! If you don't mind me asking, what is Life Group? Sounds interesting.

Val, I'm sending encouragement your way! Good for you for drinking that water - it's hard to get it in somedays!

Welcome TLFINNEY1! Glad you joined the team! It's a little overwhelming at first, or at least it was for me, but I soon got the hang of this site! Everyone here is truly awesome, so supportive - you'll love it here!

Have a nice afternoon everyone - I have to get up and get my workouts done!

I justed started SP the end of December. So far so good. I'm not blog and message savy, but I'll get there. I'm finding a lot of inspiration and motivation. Thank you all.

Cold here 27 below so the snow that is left on the sidewalk is going to stay. Suppose to warm up to a balmy 45 by this weekend.

Trying to eat healthy but isn't going well, drank 5 cups of water yesterday and that is one of the best in many months.

Congrats to all the losers and stay warm where this nasty storm is going.

Afternoon everyone...haven't had a chance to read through post yet this morning. Just wanted to check in and say HELLO!

Ice on the roads this morning...long drive in, turns into a short lunch and a long drive home.

Great workout last night. Suppose to have Life Group tonight, but with the weather not sure. If not then I plan on another good workout night while the husband watches...yes, wait for it...Football!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Make it Happy, Healthy and Active emoticon

Hello eveyrone,
For anyone who wants to know because Annie ask, Suze Orman is on CNBC every Saturday night at 8 pm central time so just check that station to see when it comes on in your area. I love the Can I afford it? section of the show where people call in and requests to buy the craziest things! If the money is there she will approve them but if it is not she wont'.

I went today for a interview for my last 300 hours of internship for my degree. I will be doing it at the American Red Cross here in Norman Oklahoma. I am real excited about it and meet with the volunteer cordinator Tues . I will be helping with some fund raising things they have going on and calling donors. So I am looking forward to it.

Congradulations on Lesley and anyone else that lost weight!!! Way to go! For the rest hang in there and you will get it!

I do think our lives are all interconnected. If we do well with our weight then the finances and everything else falls into place. I am doing some major cleaning and organizing on my apt so I feel great! And I am getting organized on my finances. It all came about from being on WW and losing the weight. It just makes me want to be orgranized in all areas of my life.

Well take care everyone. It is 17 degrees here with a wind chill of -5 degrees! I am home where it is warm and not going anywhere until Tuesday! Have a great day everyone!

Hello TLFINNEY1! Isn't that strange for your weather to be warmer, lol! Enjoy it while it lasts! My oldest son went Skagway this summer and loved it there so much, he is now saving and planning to move there. How are things going for you so far on SP?

Hello all, I live in central Alaska and you all are having our winter. It actually was warmer in Anchorage yesterday than somewhere in Florida. It is 15-20 degrees above here in Fairbanks, we're supposed to be at 20 below at least. The only time anything shuts down here is for serious ice rain that affects our roads, doesn't happen very often.

Good Morning Team!

Weighed in today and lost 2 lbs. I'm amazed that I have no cravings for junk at all. I think it's due to quitting Diet Coke. I used to drink a minimum of 12 cans a day & always craved junk, pastries & fast food. Wonder if it's related? I know being on SP is also a motivator for me & you, my great team mates!

Toni, Way to keep that cardio streak up! I'm cheering for you.

KIRCHDS, I just read a blog about that very thing! It is amazing how it seeps into every area of our lives.

Janice, Staying the same is better than a gain! Sending you a {hug} & positive thoughts!

Jeneal, Shucks, a 'snow day' would have been a treat, LOL! You are so right this team ROCKS!

Annie, Glad you're choosing to still do exercise at the gym! That's the Spark spirit! Glad you got your snow :)

Denise, Ooh, sorry to hear you're sore today! Cheers for you for eating well! Keep warm today :)

KELLE_J, What is Zumba? (I think I'm bushed - never heard of it, lol)

Everyone have a terrific Thursday! Keep healthy and positive!

Morning all! I went to a Zumba class last night and boy am I feeling it today. It was fun, but a little frenetic. I pushed myself to finish the class though, even though it meant I had to modify some of the moves occasionally to catch my breath.

Does anyone work out with EA Sports Active for the Wii? I've been eyeing it, and Amazon has it today for 39.77 instead of 52.99. Anyone love or hate it?

I'm still logging my food, and still going way over the high end of my calories, but by a bit less, so I guess that's progress.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday.

GM Team,

Things are good here. Sadly, I didn't make it to the gym yesterday after my dental appt. I thought my dentist was just going to bond my broken crown. He said the break was not my fault but due to my teeth shifting with the braces I had. So, I was there for about 2 1/2 hours getting repairs. A lot of gas & injections in the jaw are not pleasant. I can't make a full yawn and more pain in my cheek bone today. But at least he is fixing for free. Yea!

I did real good on my eating yesterday. Had to take the shrimp tostadas off my menu and ate some turkey chili with black beans that I had in the freezer. All is well and I'm feeling real good about my eating this week. I've eaten oatmeal 3 times this week and it's perfect for this cold weather and really fills me up.

Cold (24 – 28 degrees) and windy today and there was ice on the roads this morning. Took me 50 minutes to get to work instead of my usual 25. Temps are going lower from there so we'll see how the rest of the day goes.

Everyone have a great day!

Denise

Good Morning Team!

We finally have snow! It is so pretty out. I made it into work and find it funny that I live the 2nd farthest away and those that live close did not come in. Oh well at least the courthouse should be quiet today!

Cheryl-Good luck on the weighin!

Kirchds-I have to agree with you. I find that if I put junk in my body I feel sluggish, horrible and ache. I have so much more energy now than I ever have. Even before when I was working out. You have to fuel the body with healthy foods also.

Is Suze Orman on radio or tv? How do I find her?

My aerobic classes are closed for today so it looks like I will be doing DVDs at the gym by myself emoticon . If the schools are called off, then the gym closes. Lucky we have key cards to get in.

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning,
The snow that they predicted hasn't got here, yet. So I had to come to work. Oh well, it's not like I don't have plenty to do. I have just kinda got used to 3 day weeks:)

I love the energy of this team - it keeps me going. I lost 1.5 lbs this week. I am excited because it's been a few weeks since the scale has moved. I'm surprised because my eating has been horrible!

Have a good day everyone.

Hello Sparkers !

Weigh in day and stayed the same... arggg! It just shows me how important exercise is and how I need to limit my snacking, even if it's "healthy foods", a calorie is a calorie. My energy is way down too. I've been used to 45-60 mins of good sweaty cardio a few times a week and I'm not getting it in. Yes, the knee surgery is an excuse, but I should somehow be able to get it in. True confessions, I've been hitting the couch instead of exercising the past 2 nights and I need to stop that behavior, part of the vicious cycle of no energy. part of that interconnectiveness! Burn energy to make energy!
I will do this!

Everyone is doing great!
Have a Super Thursday Sparkers!!
Here's to Health,
Janice
