Grrrr. emoticon This up & down is so frustrating! At least this week I can see a lot of time my nutritional values were out of line. I need to pay closer attention to my fiber, protein and sodium intake. These last pounds really want to hang on. I've come a long way and I will win this battle.

LadyKathleen, congratulations on the new grandson! (I want one of those!!)

Gwynlee, welcome or welcome back. Support and encourage at will!

Joan, I hope all is going well with your hubby's rehab.

The storms raged across the plains last night, but there were no tornadoes on the ground. The weeds should be really easy to pull because the ground is saturated. It's in the 50's and overcast AGAIN!

Have a blessed day!
Kathy

Barb------I have an Omron Go Smart which I just love. I got it at Walgreen's for around $30...It is one also that I can put in my pocket plus it automatically resets itself at midnight. So far it has been quite accurate. I have had several pedometers that didn't work or had to be in certain positions and didn't use them because of all the inaccuracies. My goal is to consistently get 5000 steps a day even though I know we are supposed to do 10,000. Right now I do get 5 to 6000 2 to 4 days per week and on the other days I range from 2500 to 4000. When I reach the 5000 4 to 6 days per week then I will raise my goal. This pedometer can be clipped to your purse or backpack also.

We are getting rain again today so no mowing again.

Better get a sandwich and head to the church to process more books and DVDs.

Cat....have a wonderful anniversary. We will be married 24 years on June 2nd. So we have decided to go home to Wisconsin to be with family. But this is also going to be such a challenge for us. Eating out and going to lots of family functions always involve unhealthy food. But I know that we will be able to watch what we eat and still (hopefully) lose some weight. I am so glad that I joined SP. Everyone has been so supportive. My husband has seen the changes that I have made to become healthy and said that he is considering joining SP. Now we are cooking together...healthy food everyday! Thanks to all my new friends! emoticon

Barb, enjoy your new pedometer. I have a Fitbit and love it! One of the nice things is I can clip it to my bra and it works fine. I don't think the calorie-burning feature is so accurate, but it does well tracking steps and distance.

My older son is still suffering with laryngitis and is still off work. He's pretty frustrated with his doctor, but I don't think he's met a doctor whose advice he'd willingly follow. He is pretty opinionated and very resistant to being told what to do--even by a doctor. He thinks he's smarter than they are---don't know where that streak of arrogance came from.

The yard is mowed and the rain is here AGAIN! I think it's supposed to be in the 70's today.

Lovely day to all...
Kathy

I have been so busy at work with intakes and my schedule getting fuller. I was exhausted last night and could barely pull myself out of bed this morning. I had another intake and then just kept running. Tonight was my early night. Tomorrow another intake and I am booked the rest of the day. Friday I get a reprieve to catch up on all my intake paperwork. Of course my time sheet and get everything to clear out for a week. This week is going by really fast.

Well didn't lose, but didn't gain. So I guess that is good. Finished up on doctor appointments until the day of my surgery. May 13th. The 12th is our anniversary so we are going out to dinner--nothing greasy or fried. We are going Italian. It is an upscale restaurant so I am looking for some fish.

Well take care!

Thanks Barb......That is a little pricey but we get what, we pay for. Keep us posted on your steps, you can be an encouragement for all of us to get out there and move. I know, I have a failing grade because I am pretty sedentary.

Hi Irene. I bought Omron pocket pedometer model HJ-7201TC. You can clip it on your pants, put it in your pocket or even put it in your purse. I tried everything but the purse and it seems to be very accurate. This was a bit pricey...$42. I found it on Amazon. But I have been very please with my new "toy" so far.

Hi Barb, I hope, you chalk up those steps with your new pedometer. What brand is it? I had one where, the least bit of movement registered and I am not talking about steps taken.....talk about a false reading.

Perfect weather today in Middle Tennessee....Murfressboro to be exact! Sunshine and 74 degrees and low humidity. Planning on spending most of the day outside walking. My new pedometer arrived yesterday and can't wait to see how many steps I will walk. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Not much going on. It is warmer here; we actually saw the sun today. I didn't mow but will tomorrow morning.

Stella starts a gymnastics class tomorrow...I just don't know that it's super important to have classes this young--swimming I understand; beyond that, I'm a real fan of letting kids enjoy childhood.

Back in NC and now it's raining here. At least I'm not standing by the side of a lake with an umbrella watching rowers. I'm not sure whether or not I hope my daughter's soccer game is rained out this afternoon. The eating plan while I traveled worked well though, down 1/2 pound.

5 Top Ways to Avoid Overeating
South Beach Diet followers are encouraged to eat until their hunger is satisfied but not to stuff themselves. For those of us who are used to restaurant-size meals, it can be hard to know what a sensible starting portion is. When it's time to sit down to a meal, try these tactics to avoid overeating:

Eat slowly and savor your food. It may seem like an obvious point to make, but remember it takes 20 minutes for your stomach to signal to your brain that you are full!
Begin your meal with a salad or a clear broth as soup.
Drink water before and throughout the meal. If you're having trouble slowing down when you eat, put your fork down halfway though your meal and take a minute to sip some water.
Chop some of your favorite fresh vegetables and place them on the table with the rest of your dinner. Snack on them frequently, and have another handful when you finish the rest of what's on your plate. Don't like raw veggies? Cook them up instead, and give yourself a generous amount.
To avoid unnecessary second helpings, assemble your plate of food and then wrap up and store any leftovers before you begin eating.

Weight Loss Central--gals are doin' great!! Keep up the good work.

Elsie, the sun finally made a showing just about sundown. It was warmer today but overcast. They're predicting more rain Tuesday evening into Wednesday. I worked about three hours in the yard today, but I didn't mow. I'm thinking I'll be able to do it after Stella leaves tomorrow. Like you, it's not exactly lawn--more dandelions!! Now those little flowers are what you call "survivors."

We have been gifted with the sun peeking through the clouds today and no rain forecasted until Wednesday. Maybe we will dry out some because I sure need to get out and mow this weed patch known as a lawn. I have about 3 acres to mow when it dries out enough.

I will be heading back to the church this evening to finish processing some books and begin processing some donated DVDs.

Having left over cheesy chili mac for lunch and dinner tonight so don't have to cook.

Mahjongg went well. Won one game. We all got bad hands, but we each one a game. It was neat. One woman always complains she has the worst hand and she has the best. I think she does that to throw us off track. She is fun to play with. You never know what is up her sleeve.

I came home and wrote my blog on Asperger's Syndrome. Was depressed on how many people read my blog this week. It is up and down. You can't tell by one days numbers and I have to remind myself of that. It was better yesterday. I hope one day to get more readers. I get about 800 to 1000 hits a week. I never know if it is helpful or not. I announce it on Facebook and LinkedIn, but I need more professionals on Facebook and LinkedIn.

I have been eating well. Will check my weight tomorrow. Tomorrow I go for my pre-op appointment for my gall bladder. Will be glad when this is behind me. I hate the waiting. It just leaves me more nervous. Although, a lot of people have had this surgery and I know this, it doesn't make it easier.

Take Care!

FULLLBLOOM - oh my! Yes, it feels really good....and motivating to stick with it. It is one thing to do everything 'right' and the scale doesn't move, although I did lose inches...but, when the scale finally moves ( and I weighed myself 3 times, just to be sure LOL), it just feels like a reward to keep going. For some reason, I feel my body just said, OK, and will let go of that excess fat routinely now. It cracks me up, how excited I am about 1 pound....but I worked so hard for it. And now I reached my first 5. Gotta go drink some water..... emoticon

Good Afternoon Everyone!
The weather is rainy here today in Murfreesboro, TN. Good day to stay inside. I'll probably go to the mall with my husband and do laps and then do some people watching. Very interesting to see what the younger crowd wears! I just have to share some great news...yesterday I received my results of my semi-yearly blood work. I am no longer border line diabetic. Just losing a few pounds and exercising has helped. Live is good!!!

It looks like rain here in Knoxville, too, though it hasn't actually started yet. I'm here for the rowing competition in Oak Ridge, so it's shaping up to be less than ideal. I did get my walk in on the hotel treadmill, and rewarded myself with a sit in the whirlpool - so not all bad.

emoticon emoticon emoticon still so no mowing today.

This will be a catch up day for me. I have to do the TOPS books for the past 2 weeks and have the April monthly report done by Thursday morning.

After working 3 hours in the hospital gift shop yesterday, I stopped by the church and worked 2 more hours in the library. I got 4 paperbacks covered and begun the processing of them.

Suppose I better get dressed.......lol

Gorgeous Saturday morning--cool 50's, but it is nice. I think it will get a little warmer. Sweater weather--my kind of weather. This is the first year we had Spring last longer than 3 weeks before it hit hot. Cool for a usual 80 degree May. I am glad--not looking forward to the 90-100 degree Summer.

Today is a good day. Had a good meeting on powerlessness and control. I really needed to hear that with DD1. I am powerless over her actions and reactions and I cannot control how she will react. So walking away is the best thing for me right now and not interacting with her unless she interacts with me. Just enjoy my granddaughter and know she will get beyond this crying stage.

I have Mahjongg! Luv it!

Leah, welcome back. How long have you been gone? How long were you here before? I'm Kathy, 67, a retired teacher. I have two sons--one married, one not--and a lovely 3-year-old granddaughter I watch 2 days a week. My breakfasts are pretty varied. I've gone to using Eggbeaters instead of eggs most of the time when I make an omelet. I have oatmeal, cream of wheat, multigrain toast with peanut butter, yogurt, multigrain cheerios; I think that's pretty much it (unless I go out for breakfast).

Deeruth, welcome. Vacation at the beach...which one? I got rid of my old swim suits last summer and haven't bought a new one yet, but I have a friend who's going to teach a water Zumba class this summer; I'll have to get a new suit.

Elsie, it's still rather cool here in KS, but today we had neither rain nor snow. I'm not sure that will last through the weekend, but I'm hopeful. I could mow!

I met some teacher friends at a sports bar after school. They get together once a month while school is in session, so this is the last meeting for this school year. Hearing them talk about school makes me sooo very glad I'm retired! I'm meeting my niece for breakfast in the morning and then I'm going to try to get the yard mowed (notice I didn't say lawn because it's mostly dandelions) and the bathroom painted. It's a goal.

Sweet dreams!
Kathy

too much snow today along with more rain........

God's gift to you: a clean slate every day: your gift to God: what you put on that slate....

Most people watch what they eat from Christmas to New Year's when they should be watching what they eat from New Year's to Christmas

I am just checking in. Had a busy week at work. Another busy week is scheduled for next week. But it is Friday--no work. I have my meeting and then Mahjongg tomorrow. I am looking forward to that.

DD1 and DGD is here. The baby has separation anxiety and cries when ever out of her sight or in someone else's ( ours) arms and mom is across the room. This is very testy on my DD1 who is getting frustrated. I am not surprised. While here, she was with her all the time. DD1 says it is just a phase. Let's hope so. Nine months was when my second DD2 got fussy. My dgd has not been fussy up until this point. Technically, real motherhood has begun for her. DD1 screamed from the moment she got home from the hospital. Well she will learn.

Well I am tired. Not much to say.

I switch my breakfast between multi grain cherrios and scrambled eggs. I also add a piece of fruit or fresh juice.

Hi Irene, Thanks so much. Good to hear you are in an upbeat mood. I have felt really peppy for the past couple days. So nice to be back here as well. Wish I'd drug myself back sooner. LOL But ... oh well am here now.

I'm feeling really good in my own skin now that, I lost 73 lbs. In particular, since, it is that time of the year where, we show more skin. It is freeing to lose weight. It is more of a relieved kind of a thing, I feel.

Hang in there with your eating plan. It is so worth. emoticon
