Yesterday I walked a mile, having to take it easy since I hurt me knee a few weeks ago.

Today I am going to an event at a restaurant for a friend and I have already looked up the menu and nutrition facts, picked my meal and put it into my tracker so I can work around it. I am also going to try to fit in some gym time today.

Today I joined this group, I went grocery shopping for healthier foods, I set new goals and blogged about them, and I stayed within my goal fat/cal/carbs.

Today I did a 10K race over a mountain. I completed the race (and got beaten by a 5 year old kid who raced with her young strong parents and may have been carried up the harder parts) but I'm not going to complain about coming in at the end. I'm an old lady of 71 who only began doing this sort of stuff (I'm a recovering couch potato, and I do believe I'm the oldest lady in this race) less than a year ago. I completed the race, came in over the finish line, and that's good enough.

More important, I'm beating diabetes. I got diagnosed pre-diabetic a year and a half ago. Exercise is vital in beating this thing, and I've brought my A1c number down from 6.1 to 5.6. Never mind when I cross the finish line. I'm beating diabetes, and that's what matters.

It looks like you've been doing great! I think we all sometimes need a short break from this from time to time. It's a lot of work, mentally and physically. I have been on sort of a short hiatus for the last 5 weeks or so.... I had two trips, holidays, birthdays, vacations, etc....back on track this week.....while not counting my calories as closely I yo yo'd between 178 and 182. this past week I have stuck very closely to my calories, and upped the exercise a bit, which has been hard lately because of the heat. Keep pressing on!!!

Hi everyone!!! Still having Internet issues. It's been ridiculously hot here, but still have gotten in some early or late bike rides. I also was on a trip to Arizona form the 20th - 25th and ate out every day. Still down 8 lbs for the month of May. Hoping to do as we'll in June. I'm going to Georgia to see my son (he's in the Army) in a little over two weeks. I haven't seen him since the first week of January, before I started losing weight.

I'm going to take a good hard look at why I'm not doing any exercise. Alas I'm doing this cradling a large cappuccino in my hands whilst my bum is firmly fixed to the seat.

If I spent as much time actually doing the exercise as I did planning to exercise then I'd probably wouldn't have this weight problem now!!

*waves fist at procrastination*

2 days so far and no gym. Possibly 5 days without being able to go to the gym. Everyday life getting in the way. Have to go out of town to a special olympics event this weekend. Lot of walking involved, eating out, no computer. My routine is going to be totally upset. I hope I don't gain any weight but I need to be prepared in case I do. I just don't want to ruin my 3 lb lost from last week.

slow and steady wins the race. My mom was a yo yo dieter. and would lose and gain large amounts of weight. She would starve herself and lose 6 or 7 pounds a lot of weeks and lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then gain it all back within 4 or 5 months. :( Better how we are doing it, even if we have an occasional gain some weeks. We are learning how to live a healthier lifestyle, losing weight slowly through diet and exercise. I know we will succeed, and will keep the weight off!!!!

I did not do good on eating today, as it was mother's day we went out to eat. I did drink my water, and I also went on a 5 mile bike ride tonight. I was down 1.8 lbs for the week, which is great.

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Have a great week!

Thanks, GINGERRUE1824, I have friends that join me at the gym and sometimes I would rather do it alone because then I can listen to my music. Sometimes when somebody is with me I do not concentrate on my workout as much and I end up not doing everything that I want and the time takes off. So I am half and half on that.

Klar, don't get discouraged. you are doing great from the sound of things. I went through the same thing. I would gain and I wouldn't want to do anything but eat and sleep. Now if I gain I'm ok w it as long as I don't make that a habit and fall back in my old ways. Im glad that u seem to be bouncing back.
Today I went to the gym and even got my fiance to work out w me. We spent an hr doing everything from weight lifting to treadmills and elliptical. its nice having something to go to the gym with.

Hi Sparkteam,
This week has been a little tough for me. I gained instead of lost so that was a little disappointing. And for some reason my energy level dropped so low that allI wanted to do was sleep. I did excercize Monday but for only 1 hour then went home to bed (I usually do 2). Yesterday I went straight home from work and was in bed by 7:00 pm. Today I was much better and I did 3 miles on the treadmill, 10 miles on the bike, 25 x up and down the stairs(21) and 50 lbs 100 x on the ab machine. I made up for Monday and Tuesday. Needless to say, I am tired but energized tonight. Not foggy or listless.

Everyone is doing great!!! Juulee , congrats on your dedication!!! Kathy! Congrats on the weight loss!!!. Today was my weigh day and I lost 2.8 for the week, finally getting me into the 180s!! I did my first long bike ride today. 12 miles! My furthest before this was 6. I have been using a free app called runkeeper for the last few weeks to track my biking and walking. I love seeing how far I go in a week and challenging myself to beat that goal.

JUULEE, we can only hope that I get down to sylph-like. I just showed pictures of me when I was 108lbs. to my co-workers and they couldn't believe that was me. I so hope that I can get down to close to that size again. Well yesterday I went on a walk-a-thon for March of Dimes Healthy Babies. My friend and I walked 2.25 miles and it went by so fast it was like nothing. I am ready to do a 5 mile walk now. Today we are going to an outdoor concert called a "love-in". It is a 60's 70's concert with GrandFunk Railroad. We will be doing a lot of walking and hopefully not a lot of eating. I did not eat that much breakfast this morning, knowing that I would be around a lot of good food. So I am allowing for more higher calorie food for lunch, just in case. Tomorrow is weigh in day. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I don't gain from this weekend of fun. I read somewhere that if your fingers are crossed it is easier to lose weight because it is harder to eat with fingers crossed. I liked that. Have a great day. emoticon

Thank you for your kind words. I thought people would think it was a bit extreme but that's probably what led many of us here - those extra few grams!

I see you've done very well again today. We won't recognize you soon you will be so sylph like!

Congatulations on your weight loss again. I lost 3 lbs this week. Which is wonderful because I gained a lb. last week. So I am back on track.
Today I wentto the gym. Did 6 miles on the bike and 2 1/2 miles on the treadmill. But I walked
the steps(21) up and down 20 times.

I've been staying on track pretty well. Had another 2.2 lb loss when I fot weighed on Sunday. Got a lot of biking and walking in the last two days.

Today I joined a gym to give me another option for getting in my cardio. It's across the street from my job which will make working out on my lunch hour ideal! Looking forward to seeing progress on my weightloss journey.

Today I walked 3 miles then went out to breakfast with my husband. Been doing good at the gym and if I do not go crazy on the food today I should see a decent weight loss on the scale tomorrow.

We can do it!!! I was able to stay on track food and water wise Sunday and Monday. No exercise at all yesterday(other than at work, I am on my feet most of the day there, but don't count that as it is what I always do) Walked 3 miles this morning. Hoping to go to the gym later and do some of the weight machines, but right now my house is a wreck!! ugh. Need to get on that. Water and food for today are good so far.
