I agree about the balance! I'm one of those people who is working all the time too! Always something to do! And I wonder why my baby girl always has such a full overwhelming schedule! Do you think maybe it's learned behavior??? Hmmmm.......

Work was okay today, but found out about everything we have been doing is wrong! I guess it's time to start over with a whole new set of rules!!!

The cookies sound wonderful! I don't make many at Christmas, so then I won't be tempted to eat them. We have patients that bring us all kinds of goodies at the office, so I definitely get my fix! Happy cookie making! So sorry you can't find exactly what you are looking for to make them, but I bet they are still good!

Rough night last night, as my daughter left 2 pens in her uniforms and it is now all inside my dryer! Luckily the clothes mostly underclothes are not too stained, but had to google how to clean the dryer out as it is all ink stained! Then at 12 the dog threw up in our bedroom only to find he had hit the staircase too! So at 12 am I was cleaning the carpet! I just decided to grin and bare it! It is what it is! Why stress about what I have no control over! I thanked the Lord for a lovely day instead! After all I'm still breathing! emoticon

The Mirro-Matic dates back to the 40s and 50s, so my mom used one that I inherited. Then I was lucky enough to come across a couple in thrift stores. No more. They do make them, but in China, and they're just not the same. I'll have to make those cookies by squashing them with the bottom of a cut-glass punch glass and sprinkling them with the usual sugars. They'll still taste awesome!

That's always the way, when you leave an organized list of things for people to do when you're on vacation. No one does it! Whatever you do, though, don't regret taking that vacation. You need that!

I'm getting more convinced that, the busier you are, the happier you are. Up to a point, of course. If I were working all day and all night (a distinct possibility), I would NOT be happy because there would be no balance or variety. So a mix of work, 5 miles' walking, writing Christmas cards, putting up some lights, helping make dinner, doing exercises, swimming, working my way through "The iPhone for Dummies," reading my Stephen King book, putting out the rubbish, and watching a good Christmas movie is just the thing.

Back to work this am. Fell back to sleep from sheer exhaustion and the DH let me sleep in for 40 minutes! Somehow I was only 4 minutes late?? I had to put the peddle to the metal and move it this morning! Did I mention this is extremely hard as I am not a morning person! Only got 1/2 a cup of coffee down! His explanation was,"I thought you were doing something!" Duh! Sleeping!!!! My boss who promised to keep me caught up incidentally did nothing for me, so I am once again behind! Hope to be caught up by the end of the week!!! That's my goal and I'm sticking to it!!!

I've never heard of the cookie maker you are talking about Suzy, but it sounds awesome! Too bad they don't make it anymore! You're way ahead of me, coz I haven't even thought about Christmas cards! Happy decorating!

Partway through the Christmas cards, and now I want some Christmas lights. Told ya the new decorations would start arriving here any day! Spritz cookie baking time this weekend, but my antique Mirro-Matic cookie press froze up last year. Now you can only get a Mirro-Matic on eBay for $50, and the new, made-in-China varieties don't have quite the same shapes, like the Scottie dog and the camel.

Dentist today. Hope he doesn't do anything to me!

Just think of all the cardio you're getting while having fun!

Well, it was a full weekend. I got my few Christmas decorations out, started on the cards, cleaned house, did laundry, went out with Bill, walked as usual, and started learning my iPhone (very slowly). Now back to the grind!

I have to correct myself...there is over 5 million lights as I heard today when I was on the boat to Epcot! Seriously..it's a good thing WDW has it's own power source! Having a blast, but my feet and legs are a screaming!!!

I would definitely need the book for dummies on that iphone! No question in my mind!

There may just be a house in our neighborhood with over a million lights, lol!

So, I had to get a copy of "The iPhone4 for Dummies," but I did manage to download it ONTO the iPhone, so I can't be that dumb, right?

It was cold enough in Boston--low 40s felt mighty chill to me.

An iphone, that sounds totally cool! I bet you will love it!!! I sometimes take walks like that too. How was your trip? Dumb question, but was it cold up there?? I bet you are glad to be home!

Yes we had beautiful weather today! We had so much fun!! We went to Hollywood Studios and really didn;'t have to wait for anything as they are taping the Christmas parade in Magic Kingdom today, so that was probably the busy park. Just came back at 4:30 for a nap and we are off to the parks again! Magic Kingdom is open until 1:00 am. Don't know if I will last that long!!! We are going back to Hollywood Studios to see the Osborne family lights, which is over 1 million Christmas lights! Can't wait! Will check in tomorrow!

A B in A&P is awesome, Lynne! That's a tough course.

You should have a great weekend, weather- and funwise!

I haven't accomplished much so far today except chatting with a lot of neighbors on my walk this morning; it ended up taking me an hour and a half! Made breakfast and have been playing around with Spotify, which is a FREE online music streaming site. I can play whole albums without paying a cent. Forget iTunes! Later on, our plan is to finally get me an iPhone. I feel like I'm plunging into the digital age feet first, even though I was already in it.

Hey, I'm glad you are on your way home! Isn't swimming great! I started the year of the summer olympics, and for the 1st time ever I watched them and really got into it! Then my daughter was on the swim team for 3 yrs in HS so we spent a lot of time at the pool! I really need to get back into it again! It is such great all over body exercise!

We didn't arrive here until late, because my baby girl had finals today, so far a B in A&P. Waiting for the other grades. They remodeled the time share we are in, as we stayed here 4 yrs ago. It's awesome! can't wait to get to the parks in the am.

Have a good weekend! I'm glad you are home!

Flight is boarding soon. I'll be glad to get back home. I did keep up with walking by using the hotel treadmill in the morning and swimming every night. Swimming has become a habit for me now!

Enjoy the Mouse House, Lynne!

It's vacation days! I still have 90 hours and it's the end of the year! We don't lose it, but we like to go to Disney and see it all decorated for Christmas! We are staying in a time share while there. Can't wait to get away. It's just a lot of work!!!

Yes, very scary about the neighbor to walk out your front door and see 10 sheriff cars and about the same amount of unmarked cars! It looked like a swat team!

That is so scary about your neighbor. You'd think living in a gated community you wouldn't have to worry about that.

How do you have a four day weekend? Lucky you!!

Still decorating! I'm down to the tree! Just decorating about an hour after work everyday, because I pooped after a nine hour day!
They are re blacktopping our circle where I live so it's called park and walk! You can't drive on it for 24 hours! We live on a private road.
Suzy sounds like you had a good time! I can't believe I have lived here all my life, but you are telling me of all these sites I've never heard of! Thanks! I'll have to check them out!!
Lisa, you will get there, just hang in there! I know it's hard!
Well, hope everyone had a lovely day!

C'mon, Lisa. Time to get back on track!

Actually, our friends the realtors are killin' me! They all got a coupon for La Esperanza, for which you really need three couples to make it work, so we went out to eat AGAIN last night. That sure makes it hard to stay on track.

I'm back from a lovely 3-mile walk with Gilda, my new walking buddy. I'm so glad I ran into her and then followed up. We'll probably be out walking together a lot.

I understand, Lynne. I hate it, too, when things are in a state of "unfinishedness" and disarray. I didn't even bring a lot of Christmas stuff with me, so I'm going to start out with bare-bones decorating, then see how far it goes.

The Franklin Shops are right in downtown Ft. Myers. I saw a story about it on the news--it's a building that rents space to retailers in a coop arrangement, so there are, like, ninety shops under one roof. And upstairs you can rent literally just a "cube" to display your wares in. So if you make something small and could display it in something the size of a box, you're in business! Then, I suppose, if you do well at it, you could open a larger space there. It was Small Business Saturday, so I did my part and patronized a couple of stores there. I also loved Main Street Antiques, because I like funky retro stuff.

The bar part came yesterday, when we went to Bert's Bar & Grill at the entrance to Pine Island. Fun, good food, and great view! Then we came back to P.C. and hung out listening to a band at Gatorz. Back to work today, though.

Well, we had some light issues so I still have to decorate the tree. The DH broke down and helped me a little yesterday and all afternoon today! Everything with lights that we tried to put up needed lights. We have garland with lights that go on the staircase. One whole strand was out. One whole section of the pre-lit tree was burnt out! How does that happen when they are in a box. I know it will be gorgeous when it is done, but my whole house seems like a mess for the moment, and I hate when things are not in order! I guess that's the OCD in me coming out!!! emoticon We have a closet under the staircase and that's the Christmas closet. We have other things like shoes and boxes vacuum etc. It is all in my family room because I have to put it away last, after the totes with the ornaments in them! I will get over it! I just had a mini melt down tonight, but I will get it done and get over it!

We go to Disney about 4 times a year. We buy the Florida resident passes and then it isn't as expensive. We use to have a hotel connection with my oldest daughter and could stay in Epcot, for an unbelievable rate, but she was laid off after 10 years, so now we have to pay almost double! Ouch! Maybe some day she will go back there. I know she would like to.

What's the Franklin? Is it another bar??

Well, I'll talk to you tomorrow! Thanks for listening to me rant! Sorry!

Wow, Lynne! I have all sorts of respect for those who really blow it out decorating for Christmas! Your home must be transformed after two days of work!

Disney this time of year must be fun. How many times a year do you go?

We're off to Bert's Bar on Pine Island this afternoon. They have a space at the Franklin, and we got intrigued but didn't have time yesterday.

Hey, I'm glad to hear everyone had a good Thanksgiving! I have been cleaning and Christmas decorating for 2 days! My kids all like to see the end result, but no one wants to help! I did manage to get my youngest to help for a few hours yesterday! The tree tomorrow and I'm done, decorating that is!!!

We are going to Disney next weekend to mostly look at the Christmas decor as it is so busy this time of year the lines are too long to wait in! Our daughter and her friend are going with us! Maybe my BIL and SIL too, may fly down from Minnesota. We got a 2 bedroom condo for what we normally pay for a hotel, so we can cook some meals too! It has a full kitchen. We stayed there before, it's a time share.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend. I can't wait to get back to work to get some rest!!!

Thanksgiving with family was very rejuvenating, but having a long weekend off is even better. I put some new plants in planters, erected trellises for others, we've gone out shopping together twice and have taken care of just about everybody on our list! I think they've overhyped the Black Friday shopping this year, because we haven't seen overwhelming crowds. Even Small Business Saturday was sane and delightful in Fort Myers. Have you checked out the Franklin shops? So cool!

Toying with the idea of having a Christmas party for new friends and neighbors.

Yeah, there really wasn't much for me to eat, because of the whole vegetarian thing, besides that! But I ate A LOT of cheese!! haha

We had a great day yesterday! Somehow I didn't overdo, even though there were some incredible dishes--like DIL's green bean casserole including cheese and bacon (OMG!) and two perfectly cooked turkeys (one Cajun fried and one brined and roasted). I don't know how it happened, but I lost a pound this morning. Maybe because of being on my feet all day.

Lisa, wait a second. You ate JUST mashed potatoes, cheese, and apple pie? (a) That sounds like what my kids used to eat for thanksgiving, and (b) It doesn't sound like overdoing it! LOL!

I called my son last night, and we must've talked for an hour and a half.

Now waiting for AAA because my car won't start. Still, it's a beautiful day, and I have it off!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

It was so nice to see my family yesterday. Ryan was well behaved for the most part, lol.... got a little cranky at the end because he knew we had such a ride ahead of us.

Up two pounds today! Guessing it's water weight since all I ate yesterday was cheese, mashed potatoes, and a piece of apple pie. Back to healthy eating/gym today! Usually when I'm off track for a day it's hard to go back, but I'm forcing myself today. I find it easier to eat healthy down here because there is no hiding underneath sweaters and sweatshirts! (And my mom isn't here making cookies!)

Last night Ryan said he would come with me. I think he got the point that I was very upset with him. Now hopefully he's not miserable the whole time. I gave him a huge hug after and told him how happy he made me. I know he's tired, he's been working so much lately.

Not too sure what I'll be eating tomorrow (I'm a vegetarian). My family is already cooking for 30 people so I don't wanna make them feel obligated to make something special for me, and I don't think if I made anything it would stay good in the car til tomorrow. Maybe it'll be a blessing in disguise :-) I'm more of a dessert person anyway.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

BTW down six pounds from last week!!!

Lisa, no, you're not crazy! You shouldn't feel as if you have to abandon your family and friends. I don't know what your BF's problem is, but I'm so sorry he's got that attitude. I just hope it doesn't make it harder for you to enjoy being with your family.

I got so steamed at work yesterday that Bill had to calm me down with dinner out! LOL!

Oh, and only one guy ended up coming to do the front bed, so all was well, and it looks great, just in time for the holidays.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving here. Stuffing and gravy are being made today. And Bill just booked us a getaway in Key West for Christmas! I'm so excited, because I've never been there and it's on my bucket list!

No Lisa, you are not crazy, but some men just don't get it! I'm lucky my DH does, but we have been together for about 30 yrs now! Our 1st official family date was at Thanksgiving with the whole family. He kept bugging me for an invite, but I wasn't quite ready to bring him home to meet the folks! I did however give in! I had been married before and wanted to make sure he was the guy for me before bringing him home to meet everyone! Well, he turned out to be one of Dad's favorite son-in-laws. When my Dad got up in age Jim was the only one who could talk sense into him!!! Men can sometimes be very selfish. If you really love him, just keep encouraging him to go! Just keep telling him how much it means to you, and don't get angry! Life's too short for that! At any rate I don't think you are being a b@#^h! I think you just want to see your grandparents!

Suzy! Well at least they got it done!!! So it took two of them! At least you didn't have to do it!!!! Although I bet it's good exercise! emoticon

Good day at work! We had a pot luck for Thanksgiving complete with Honey Baked Ham and Turkey from our new Office Manager! Lots of yummy food! My docs finally all agreed on a schedule they are comfortable with, so I can finish that up tomorrow and start on March!

The kids will all be here on Thursday! Woo-Hoo!

Well I'm trying to be OK with the whole not seeing my family for the holidays thing this year. My grandparents are coming down to see my extended family for Thanksgiving. They live about four hours north of here, so even though it's a bit of a trek, I figure it would be better than not seeing them at all. Ryan is not on board with it, but I told him we need to compromise- I'm not going home for Christmas, but I'd like to see who I can for Thanksgiving. I told him how much it means to me, and how happy my grandpa was when I told him we'd see them. Now today, Ryan is saying he doesn't wanna go, and that we wouldn't be going there if my grandparents weren't going. I told him to stay home then. Honestly, the last few times we've been around my friends or my family, he's had this attitude like he doesn't want to be bothered. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm being a bitch about this whole thing, or if anyone would be having the same reaction as I am. I think he should compromise with me, and I feel that by him just telling me to go and leave him home is selfish on his part. Am I crazy??

Bill accidentally got two workers coming to clean up our front yard bed. Oh well. Guess he'll have to pay each of them the agreed-upon price, and the job will get done faster. I'm just happy it's getting done, because it's a miserable job!

I agree, once we settled in and weren't as busy setting up the apartment, that's when I started to feel homesick. I'm good for the most part, but there are some days where I miss the comfort of home. (even though home is like 40 degrees right now lol)

Back to work. Trained a client this morning, now going to teach ab attack and bootcamp. Looking forward to the short week this week :-)

I got the housecleaning done yesterday. Boy, did that feel good! And Bill repotted our huge birds of paradise that were getting pot bound. Then we went out on the town for a while, overindulged, came back, sat around the pool playing music, and swam.

We talked for a long time about how people around here must, like we do, sometimes miss family, friends, or life back north. You can't beat the weather here, but now that we're settled in, the homesickness hits every once in a while.

Wow Lisa! I didn't know there was a Farmer's Market on McGregor! I would definitely like to check that out. I will ask the DH as he knows more of what is going on around town than I do!

Suzy, maybe with all your traveling and running around as of late you needed a down day! You will catch up in time for Thanksgivng. The elves will get it in gear!

We went to church this am. More laundry and a nap this afternoon, and a walk and dinner tonight. The DH took me downtown as I don't frequent down there, to see where I have to park and the courthouse is. Apparently you must park in a special parking lot. I watched, "Fried Green Tomatoes," for the 10th time this month on CMT, as I love that movie. I now have 9 people coming for Thanksgiving! The elves better get their butts in gear around here too! emoticon

Hope you all have a blessed and productive week!

Anyone ever check out the farmers market at the Alliance for the Arts Center on McGregor? I keep meaning to check it out.
Yesterday turned into cleaning cat poop that was dragged throughout the apartment. LOL. But luckily still had time to lay out for a bit. Nice now that's it's not super hot!

Just gonna be working on some homework today, and food shopping (after the football game, of course!). Hope you all have a good Sunday!

Well, ladies, the housecleaning went out the window yesterday. By the time I finished Sparking, we went to the (small) farmer's market in North Port (it was more crafts than farmers); Lowe's for dirt and plants; Walmart for food; back home to unload; then Gatorz for oysters and salad (and bloody maries). I ended up relaxing by the pool myself, Lisa!

So, today I pay, because elves didn't come and do the housecleaning and laundry!

Lisa, Hope you had a wonderful day to yourself! That sounds awesome! Usually when I have a day to myself I have to catch up on the laundry or house work! And to me that's not a yourself day!!!! Hope you enjoyed!

Suzy, one of these days I'm going to meet you at the Farmer's Market! I really want to go. I hope you had a great day as well!

We did some housecleaning as well today. We went to Home Depot and Walmart tonight. We have my three kids coming for Thanksgiving as well as my sister, b-i-l, and niece. I'm sure we will pick-up a few more people before the big day comes. I have jury duty on Wed. but I am then off until Monday. Our office is closed on Friday as well! Ya! The only problem is I will be working my butt off decorating the house for Christmas in that 4 days and more cleaning! Yipee!!

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!

We're heading to a farmer's market in North Port, then Loew's. Today I'm going to houseclean, too, so that it will be all done for Thanksgiving. Bill's two daughters, son-in-law, and two grandkids, and our friends the realtors, who have no family around here, are coming. It'll be fun to have a full house!
