Hi! I too am starting to train for my first 5K and have never run before. I'm excited. Going to also train using the Couch to 5K program. I'm doing a different first race though - Pink Ribbon race on Mother's Day. It starts and end at Ontario Beach Park and I hear it's a pretty flat course - which will be very good for me! We'll have to check in with each other to see how training is going. Did you sign up for any running team on SP?

Thanks for the info! A friend of mine had just mentioned something about a couch to 5 k program. Isn't there an app you can download onto an Ipod/Iphone for that too?

I'm so excited that it's warming up a bit and the snow/ice can start to melt. I want so badly to start getting ready (doing some test-runs to see whare I am running-fitness wise) and get out there.

Wow - the 10K, huh? Maybe by the end of summer I could be there too!! That's a good goal to shoot for for sure!

Congrats on your achievement! That's awesome!!

emoticon I am going to do the 10K that day, I have been running for a while. If you need a running program Couch to 5K is a great one! Got me from running 30 sec. to 5 miles! Now i just gotta make it to that 6th mile...

I don't think I'm ready for a 5K, but I wish you the best of luck. emoticon

So, while I would have NEVER even considered it before - now that I'm about 30lbs down and feeling a lot more fit and actually interested in exercise - I'm thinking of signing up for my first ever 5K.

Seems like the thing to do... emoticon

Being an asthmatic, I never really though of myself as being able to be a runner, but my breathing seems better after losing some of the weight and getting some blood pressure meds reduced (thank you SP)! Now, I'm not aiming to WIN the race or anything, just participate and take it at my own pace for the fun of it.

I'm thinking lilac festival would be a good one to try - it's in May, weather will be (a bit) warmer by then! (we hope!) emoticon

The applications are already on line if anyone else is interested:

It would be fun to meet up with some fellow sparkers for some fun and exercise.

Happy Friday!
