Place for 2nd hand clothes: Plato's Closet in Lowe's Plaza on W. Ridge, across street & west of K Mart. Younger styles. Take clothes on consignment but they are picky & generally younger ppls clothes. Near the AAA.

Guilty Pleasure: Starbucks. OK, and butterscotch hard candies. I am TOTALLY addicted to the things. I have to keep them out of the house.

Reward for weight loss: Uh.... An atta-girl and a pat on the back? And internal glow? My birthday's coming up (Double Nickels) and I'm trying to decide what I want to do special (since I can't afford Chippendale guys, a shopping trip on Rodeo Drive, or a cruise). I might just get my hair did with a facial or something. Frosting would be about right to camo the gray.

Did y'all do the farmers' markets during produce season? The one in Greece at the mall is super. I have a Google calendar I made, public, that listed all the local (and some nearby counties too) and when they were. I had also been keeping a Facebook page I made called Rochester NY Farmers Markets Fans. Wasn't very popular though. I've got a maltodextrin intolerance - makes everything go right through me. If you know anything about maltodextrin, it's in a huge amount of food, so I have to keep my diet as fresh as I can and not eat any processed foods. I also created a Facebook page called Maltodextrin Intolerance Awareness. I periodically post the URL of articles I find online about others with the same problem, nutritional information about it (which isn't common since the FDA says it's ok), or consumer info.

Have a good day.

Name one nice thing you did for someone else today and one nice thing you did for yourself.

I gave my lunch apple to a kid at school who didnt get to breakfast on time and I'm going home right after school to meet my bf for a walk in the woods with our puppies!

My husband and I like to visit various state parks in our area- Hamlin and Lakeside primarily for the close proximity to where we live. We are starting to make trips out further on weekends: Letchworth, Darien Lake (not the theme park!), Durand, anywhere to break up the monotony!

What are your best tips for breaking through a plateau? I've been stuck between 176 and 179 for a couple of weeks. I know we've all been there. Usually I go high calorie for 3 days or so, then back to a lower calorie range. Sometimes I can even recreate that "first week high" in which I lose 5 lbs at once. Yeh... I know after 3 days of eating higher calorie that evens out to a net 2 lb loss anyway... LOL.

You know, I've never seen your little doggiel LOL. I have been faithfully walking mine and I know he appreciates it. We've been just going around the neighborhood. Last time Chuck and I took him to Turning Point Park he walked right off a concrete step into the river. It was all wet and I guess he didn't see the edge. Boy was he surprised. I don't even have a tub LOL, he takes showers.

Take care and see you next week.

Yeah, I think you got them all in! I had steamed Chinese veggies at lunch. And for dinner I had a big salad with chicken. For a snack I had an orange. Oh and I ate Sarah's escarole from her chicken French. Yum... but I think that much butter cancels out any health benefit. Worth the calories. I weigh in at WW tonight. Keep it up and you'll be back at goal in no time.

Don't forget that portions are sometimes smaller than you think. A cup of lettuce is one serving, so if you have a big salad it would be 2. Add lettuce and tomato if you have a sandwich. Add a half a banana or a handful of berries to your cereal. Throw a handful of frozen mixed veggies into whatever you are eating for dinner or add 1/2 c of tomato sauce. I stick pureed zucchini or carrots into meatloaf or burgers when I make them for the kids. LOL. And good for you for trying to fit in more than usual.

Let's do a Wednesday Challenge... How about striving for 5 fruits and veggies tomorrow? List your 5 before or after to give the rest of us some ideas. I know I haven't had any local strawberries yet and want to get some tonight. Got a good seedless watermelon at Tops and they are $3 off this week! I like the seeded ones better, but it was a bargain.

Favorite smoothie, frozy treat recipe? I like to use 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt. Half a frozen banana and 6-8 frozen strawberries with a packet of splenda and a dash of vanilla. Comes out more like soft serve. Even the kids like this one! But my boyfriend likes chocolate and peanutbutter... yogurt not so much... I'm hoping to find something better. I'm going to post another recipe later that doesn't call for yogurt. Its a strawberry watermelon slushie! I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds yummy.

A couple of years ago, both my girls got together and put an amazing video together for me with our song playing in the background, "In my daughter's eyes" and slide show of them at various ages, myself, and my grandkids. They picked the most amazing pics that I didn't even know they had and it brought tears to my eyes. Best present ever!

OT on weight management. I took my boyfriend's daughter to buy some presents for her mom for Mother's Day yesterday. What is the nicest present you ever gave/received? I remember making my mom a cigar box with macaroni glued to it spray painted gold... I'm quite sure we did that in school because I know my dad wasn't all that artistic. LOL

I wish I was that creative but I do not make my own. The one I use is Wegman's (store brand)
lemon vinaigrette, it is awesome! Working there I always try to sample what they are cooking or making and I always find something I like.

My favorite is probaly chicken on the grill. We usually marinate it in low fat italian dressing and then have a side of green beans with lemon vinaigrette dressin and a fruit salad for dessert. Delicious, it's making me hungry just writing it lol

What is your favorite spring recipe? I like to make lots of green salads with different berries and nuts or seeds in them. A little fat free feta provides a savory backdrop and I love Ken's light dressings. They have a raspberry walnut vinaigrette or if you prefer something light enough to go with fruit, yet not sweet, I like their olive oil vinaigrette. I also love their light Asian dressing... mmmm mandarin oranges and sliced almonds. Leftover chicken or turkey adds protein or even some de-tailed cocktail shrimp. I never would have considered putting fruit in a green salad before, but if Panera can do it, why not me?

What new exercise do you want to try this spring/summer?

In the past week I tried restorative yoga-- you lie on the floor and the postures just "happen" LOL and Zumba-- fun but I've no idea how to do those steps and I'm not sure it matters. I also went back to horseback riding a few months ago. I'm thinking of trying either trapeze or pole-aerobics to work my flabby arms... not sure I can do either. How about you guys? Maybe you'll tell me about something I never even thought of!

I agree, I spend far less time in the gym when I forget to bring my music... unless Spongebob is on... LOL. I like to buy those mix CDs of top 40 stuff "Now that's music." Most of the music has a good beat for exercising.

When I was losing weight for my wedding last year (which I've gained back since... oops), I rewarded myself with a Coach purse that I had been coveting. It was really pricy, but it was on clearance, and it's one of those "lifetime" wardrobe staple kind of purses.

Since I've gained the weight back, I've restricted the purse from myself again until I hit 200... as another reward! It's sitting in my closet waiting for me...

I also love to reward myself for smaller weight losses with new music for the gym. It's important to keep my gym playlists fresh... if I get sick of the music, I get bored of the gym.

Hey, I live in Greece so I know a few places to get cheap stuff. The one I like the most though is Goodwill in Stoneridge plaza. I found a couple pairs of really nice jeans for about 6 bucks. Check clearance racks at target and walmart too, just picked up a pair of jeans for $5 at target. Most stores are getting ready for summer already so they are trying to get rid of spring and winter stuff really cheap.

What is the best thrift store to find stuff for changing sizes? I went to the Salvation Army on Ridge Road W by Sam's the other day and the stuff is arranged by color. Really??? There aren't even apparent sizes, you have to try to find the tags and if they haven't been washed too many times, you might be able to see the size. LOL. But yay that it's a question I'm thinking about.

What is your favorite "guilty pleasure" food for 200 calories or under?

I like Special K Fruitcrisps. They are 100 calories and reminscent of poptarts. You get 2 in a pouch and they are good sized for a cookie like object. 3 bites each. LOL

What a great idea! I just bought a set consisting of yoga pants and a pretty tshirt that said "exhale." The pants were too long so I passed it along to a colleague at work who is a bit taller. She gave me a hug and said she'd been meaning to start working out and this was just the motivation. LOL. You never know how your small actions will affect others. Have a great Friday!

Pureeing and hiding in things is my only advice. Under the cheese on pizza, in sauce, maybe some homemade baked goods using veggies like zucchini bread with extra veggies?

I don't have kids that I feed anymore but my grandson likes them with cheese sauces and so we do them like that as often as possible. But he is good about trying lots of things. We have only asked him to try it. And more often than not, he finds that when I love things he will be more willing to like them. Amazingly he loves Asparagus!

How do you get kids to eat their veggies? I've tried hiding them, adding cheese sauce, letting the kids choose... My boyfriend's daughter will eat raw veggies with ranch and loves broccoli, but her brother picks veggies out of whatever they are in and won't touch anything but pasta sauce. I even tried pureeing veggies in the sauce! eeesh!
