YODA.....as per getting resort fees dropped. I think part of it is the property you're staying at. It has worked almost every time for me except at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, although I did get one nights fees dropped. The rest of the time it has been very easy and one lady just say "sure, I don't know why we have these anyways."
I do like City Center but mostly the Cosmopolitan. We took a long walk through there this last trip and it is nice and their poker room is state of the art and very booming!
The renovation at the Tropicana is amazing. I really enjoy that property. The pool area is nice but the water is not heated. And the swim up blackjack is fun.
Did you try the $20 trick upon check in? I did it at the Mirage and got a HUGE upgrade on the 25th floor down the hall with a great view of the pools.

Hey there lumpyear, Wife and I just got back from staying at Ti in vegas. We stayed from June3rd to the 8th. We had a great time there. I tried asking for our resort fees back after our stay. But the lady at the desk said we did not report any problems to them so she said she couldnt help me with that. As soon as i mentioned the Flamingo did not have resort fees she immediately said she could give us 1night fees back. It was worth a try. $28 back in my pocket. Thanks for your help . I hope this works for other folks aswell. PEACE.

The $20 tip almost always works unless they really are full and have no upgrade available. Remember to say "even if we have to wait for a while, that's fine, we'll go gamble until a larger or premium view room is ready."
Also, make sure to use your TI players card every time you gamble because it will help get the resort fees dropped if they look you up. But many times they'll drop them just for asking. They'll ask if there was a problem and I just tell them no, there was no problem but we gambled a lot and ate in your restaurants and tipped your employees well and remember not long ago when the resorts had coupon books and no resort fees. We enjoyed your property and would consider visiting again, we were just hoping you could drop the resort fees......
Remember to wear comfortable shoes and have fun!!

Hello Kevin and Cindy......when in early june? We're going june 3-7 and staying across the street from you. As far as freebies.....? Not sure about free stuff but we go 4 times a year and are pretty good at saving money. I'll give you a few quick ideas off the top of my head: If you take the bus from the airport to the SSTT (south strip transfer terminal) you can get a 5-day bus pass for $20. You can go on groupon.com and get a dinner for two at Kahunaville, which is in Treasure Island, for $26. You have a very good chance of getting an upgraded room (bigger and better view) if you slip the receptionist $20. You can likely get your resort fees taken off upon check-out just for asking. If you go to one of those "Tix 4 tonight" outlets they have all over, you can get some very good deals on dinners and shows. If you can choose your airplane seat online, pick seats "A' and "C" or "D" and "F." and you'll likely have the whole row to yourself because nobody will want to book the seat between you. If you want to get drunk off you ass for $5 you can go to Freemont street and belly up to a 1 cent video poker machine at the Las Vegas Club the Golden Gate, put a buck in and order complimentary drinks. I could go on forever. Like I said, we go 4 times a year and have stayed at most places on the strip and downtown so if you have any specific questions let me know. Good luck. VEGAS BABY!!

Vegas was amazing again. Stayed at the Golden Nugget for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The place was much nicer than I thought it would be. Downtown was nice for the convenience and really cheap food.
Then we moved to the new Cosmo to a wrap around terrace suite. Very nice. A legitimate 5-star property and we had an amazing view of the WHOLE strip, room 5378. We had our wedding reception/5 year sobriety party in our room. The room, including deck, was about 1700 square feet. Took limo rides and had our dinner at Maggianos in the Fashion mall. Everybody had a great time and thanked us and thanked us and they all want to go back to Vegas very soon.
I came home for the weekend and went back by myself. I know, I'm a junkie. Stayed at the newly remodeled Tropicana. Was shocked how nice that place is now. They gutted the place and it looks beautiful. The people are what I really liked. The workers are proud of their property and love seeing it make a comeback and treated me like a king. I got my room upgraded TWICE before I even checked in! Big room with a strip and pool view.
Going back in october and I already cannot wait.
Long live Las Vegas!

Lump, Have fun in Vegas!

I had the most wonderful time. The corner suite at Aria was beautiful. On Wednesday & Thursday the weather was on the cool side. The high was 62 degrees. We had rain on Wednesday. The Love Beatles show was very good. The food was good. We ate at Jean George Steakhouse & split our meal except for dessert. Now I'm thinking about all the wonderful time & fun we had.

ANDILU & ANNCHER.....are you ladies TRYING to torture me? ANDILU, I'm glad you enjoyed the Palazzo. Beautiful property and it's ran like a 5-star hotel too. Great wait staff and they really clean the rooms too. I even looked for water marks on the glass in the shower, just to check and it was spotless! Did you visit Canyon Ranch Spa? That place is world class. I too loved their pool areas. And the smell when you first walk into the casino, more from the Venetian side, it amazing. The Venetian was my first real taste of 5-star accommodations and treatment and now I'm addicted.
ANNCHER...You're staying at Encore THEN Aria? You ladies have wonderful taste in hotels! You will LOVE both. I've never stayed in either but they are as good as it gets. Steven Wynn (Wynn/Encore) runs a good ship and his properties run flawlessly. He is dedicated to spoiling his guests and his employees really take care of you. When I visited the Encore last october I asked one of those beautiful ladies wearing "Red"*where the cashiers cage was and she said "I'll show you." They always just point and tell you in other casinos. Not at the Wynn. She walked us there!! Then we got to the cage and they had 3 employees there and there were three of us needing to cash our chips in. They opened all 3 windows and took care of us so none of us would have to wait 20 seconds. That's class. * "Red" is the theme at Encore. And Aria is brand new of course and I hear it's really advanced technologically speaking. The curtains close automatically when you leave so the room stays cool. You can open/close the shades without getting out of bed (you can at the Palazzo too). You can change channels, order towels, room service etc...all without getting out of bed. lol I could go on and on........I'll be there may 27th, staying at the Golden Nugget downtown for 2 nights then heading to the Cosmopolitan for 5 nights!!
One of these times we should all meet up and take a group photo our Spark team!!
Viva Las Vegas!

The Palazzo was amazing! Such nice suites it was hard to leave them! Very luxurious, we felt super fancy :) And the pools there were great too...super comfy lounge chairs and they came around offering things like fresh cucumbers and cold towels!

I didn't have any great luck, but no bad luck either. I am a super low roller, so I probably broke even, and got a few drinks and some fun outta the deal :)

Hope your luck is great!!

I live in Reno now but grew up in Alaska and hadnt been to Vegas until 2009. All I can say is I loved every moment of it! Ive never been there in the summer time so im excited to check out the pools!

Should I or shouldnít I go to Vegas.

Iím trying to make up my mind. I got this great offer from Bellagio.
My offer is complimentary suite for three nights;
$400 in free play;
$300 for food & beverage credit;
2 for 1 tickets to any MGM resorts show.

I called Bellagio & no suite available for the May dates that I want. So I called Aria & they have a corner suite available so I booked it.

My weakness is Vegas.

ASDILU...congrats on the small number for your countdown! I think going alone will have some benefits for sure.
ANNCHER....I've heard great things about Beau Rivage. Steven Wynn built that place and it looks a LOT like the Bellagio. I guess it's a legit, beautiful 5-star property. He had to let it go because the locals weren't sophisticated enough for it. Everybody did valet parking, ate cheap, only brought $40 gambling money and stole all the robes and slippers. And the employees couldn't get his order right when he was there. Too funny. That and there's no big airport close enough. So this big beautiful property sits there and they practically give their rooms away. In your case they did!
Let us know what it's like will you?

I haven't been on here for a while so I need to get caught up reading everyone's posts.

The hubby and I have decided that we can't afford our anual September Vegas vacation this year....boo! emoticon But, the good news is that my nephew and his fiancee have decided to have their wedding in Vegas next March!! (not March 2011, but 2012 - that's seems to far away when I look at it like that!) So although I will be extremely sad when September comes and goes without a Vegas vacay, I do have a trip planned to look forward to!

I've never gone to Vegas by myself. But I think I could have fun there by myself.

I've gone to Vegas by myself, it's pretty much just as fun, but in a different way. A little bit more mellow! And I do like to enjoy a few cocktails in Vegas, so going alone meant LESS of them...but I know you won't have that problem! I enjoy spending time by myself, so vacationing alone is not a prob...definitely lots of pool & relaxing & wandering around time. And it's always easy to get a table!! I enjoyed some time at some places I knew my fella wasn't exactly fond of. And if you feel like socializing, most vegas vacationers are very happy & friendly :)
We've got a little countdown going too....58 days!!!!

14 weeks and 3 days til Vegas! Staying 5 nights and celebrating an "unofficial" wedding reception AND 5 years of sobriety. Then I'm coming home for 3 nights and going back, possibly by myself. I've never gone by myself and would rather not but I am going no matter what that second week. I figure poker, blackjack, pools and reasonable meals the second week. Anybody ever gone solo to Vegas? If so, any advice or ideas?

Hockey, wow, what a deal! We've gotten some crazy $25-$39 each way on SW...but not for awhile now...lately I can't find anything less than $69 each way.

Lump, CONGRATULATIONS!! Both on your upcoming wedding & anniversary. The terraces @ cosmo sound lovely!

Wow! That is a good price. If I get a flight for about 225 or lower I think is good. I would be coming to Vegas more often at that price.

HOCKEY...$18? Where you flying in from, North Las Vegas? If I could airfare that cheap, I'd be there every weekend. Elvis was at the welcome to Las Vegas sign? Fun.
ANDILU....I will be celebrating getting married. We're getting married March 26 in Minnesota with a small wedding and small reception but the REAL wedding reception will be in Vegas on Memorial Day at 6pm. I/we're staying in a nice room and for an extra night because I'm also celebrating 5 years of sobriety and I figure all the money I've saved I deserve to treat myself. That's the main reason for the fancy "wrap around terrace suite" at the Cosmopolitan. Lots to look forward to. Life is good and I am blessed. My cup runneth over baby!

HOCKE & ANDILU .yes, next time lets go for a walk and get a photo for our team. We go 3 times a year so it's a matter of time til' we meet up there. I can tell you right now I'll be there May 29-June 3 and again June 6-10. I know, I'm sick but I cannot help it. And we'll be there the last week of October but not sure of the exact dates yet. We fly out of Minneapolis so, for us a cheap roundtrip ticket is anything under about $225. We will be doing some serious celebrating next time and I'm already planning and looking forward to our next trip.

Lump: Thanks for your Cosmo review! We are looking forward to checking it out in April. Where @Cosmo did you eat? Any recommendations??

We can't wait to check out Fleur @ Mandalay Bay. Hubert Keller is one of my favorite chefs, and Fleur De Lys is an "every few years" treat only, so it will be nice to have a place to go that is a bit more affordable! :)

lump - yes it was nice to wear shorts in the daytime, never seen it so busy on a saturday nite at Caesars, turn out Cher was playing.
We had the $5 steak and egg special at Ellis Island, what a deal. went to Margaritaville and cannot believe the nachos was enough for 5 people, daughter and I hardly touched it and gave it to a street person we found.

congratulations on sobreity and anniversary.

when you say cheap flights, how cheap will that be?

it is too bad we couldnt have met and taken a picture together for our team, that would have been cool right?

HOCKEY47...I did see the conservatory at the Bellagio with the big dragon. There were a few other places that had that too...the Wynn for one. I'm already keeping an eye of for cheap airfares for late may-early june. We love it. The Cosmopolitan has these terrace suites that look awesome. I might pull out the big credit card this time. We will be celebrating our honeymoon and my 5 year sobriety milestone so I'm thinking go BIG! I swam in an outdoor pool in january which was nice since the winter in Minnesota this year has been very harsh. VIVA LAS VEGAS!

Cosmopolitan is very nice. Love the brand new and classy look. Early mornings were nice too. A little crisp in the air and the slow change from night to day is beautiful. Lots of early morning joggers and still partying people. Great town, great weather and lots to do. Wish I would have had a little better luck but the little woman won and we had a great time. I ate a lot of food and lots of naughty food but I am back home and back to reality now. Am already looking for deals for the end of may into early june!

Have a great trip in Vegas!

We had the best comps ever at Aria. The comps were three free nights, 200 in free play, 200 in food comps, if we were staying two nights Sun - Thurs we received another 200 free play. The first 200 in free play we did not make anything. We lost the money real fast. They told us to come back to the players club the next day & we would get another 200 free play. The second dayís free play we made 400. So we used the 400 to pay for the one night room charge and any additional food expenses we would have. We also used the money for taxi cab to the airport & parking charges when we came home.

Our room at the Aria was really nice & high tech. It took us a while to find the in room safe. The cafť is on the first floor. On the second floor is the buffet, more restaurants, pool & spa.

You are right about walking the strip early in the morning. We left at 7:15 am to go over to the Mandalay Bay convention center. We would see people who did not go to bed yet. We saw some joggers out.

Make sure you check out the new Cosmopolitan. The Cosmo is compact. The casino & most of the bars are on the first floor, retail on the second, restaurants and more bars on the third, and the pool area which looks directly on the strip is on the fourth. We went up to the third floor and had a slice of pizza. The location is hidden.

Our last night at Aria we still had 140 left in food comps. We ate at Jean Georges Steakhouse. The food was excellent.

This turned out to be a very nice business trip. We learned some things & manage to have fun at night.
