Typhoons, hurricanes, cyclones, depending on where you live, can do a lot of wind damage.

Our church had a Valentine Fellowship this evening. It was fun.

Jane - sounds like your weather is crazy too!

SHARON - I lived in Maine for a while and those temps were pretty close to yours. Poor Hailley!

It is sunny out there this morning and calm which is very deceiving. It is -23 degrees F. and will only get to about -2 today. Poor Hailley has a really hard time out there. Her little feet just cant take this weather. With her bad joints the cold really bothers her. Yesterday was not the best but it could have been worse. I didnt have any energy but did get a few things done. Today I feel energized so hope to do much better. Hope you all are having a good day,.

Krys, we got very little snow but the wind gusted into the 50's causing extreme white outs so not travel was suggested. We have so much snow to blow around, It is not cold

Jane, that wind can do so much damage. Sounds like you are prepared for when it happens.

Sharon, sorry about the blizzard. It does not sound fun. Hope the weather changes happen and stay that way.
Yes, I was thankful that my friend could bring me home. Locksmiths are expensive.

Krys, it has been windy here. I do not remember it being this windy except for a tropical storm coming and that is not the case. We are not having much rain. It has been cold for us, meaning in the low 80s during the day and low 70s overnight.

I have covers for my washer and dryer as they are outside. They blew off and since I have a fence were still in the yard. I retrieved them this morning, put them back, then put a cement brick on top of the washer and dryer. When I go off island I put a brick on the washer and dryer so they do not blow away during a typhoon. I ended up with a dryer out in the yard after one of our typhoons years ago.

I have a new neighbor across the street. Her family has owned the house for years and her parents have died. Her son is about 10 and has been fun to watch out playing. Several of the families in this cul-da-sac have passed their homes down to the children. I think I am the oldest at this time.

Jane - glad you had that extra set of keys! What's your weather like this time of year?

Sharon - always delighted when you can join us and chat. I'm sure your daughter was equally glad to see you. Did the blizzard arrive?

Good morning. We are in a full blizzard warning. It is snowing lightly and the wind is blowing blizzard force causing white out conditions. It will be short lived but will be extremely cold. It is -3 right now and temps will be dropping through the day. Sounds like some nice weather will start to move in during the end of the next week. That sounds good. Yesterday was a better day and I was able to walk for 18 minutes and had a total of 4,533 steps for the day. My shoulder and arm are much better and did get some laundry done. I have one load of rugs to do today. Barb brought dinner last night and it was nice to see her after missing here due to her being on vacation. We got a chance to catch up al little. Hope you all have a good day today.

Krys, glad to be back and feeling better.

Jane, so glad you were able to get your back up keys and get into your car without having to call a locksmith.

Sharon, glad you are feeling better. I would not be enjoying your long snow time.

Krys, I thought the "fire" idea was a great one although I had never heard of it before.

I went to a meeting for the hospital volunteers today that lasted a long time. Came home, rested then went grocery shopping, came home, rested and then went to church.
I started signing at the deaf gentlemans request and then interpreter came in a little late but before the preaching started.
I locked my keys in my car this evening. If the door is unlocked and I put my keys in it should not lock but it did. My BF brought me home so I could get my other set of keys. I used my emergency key to get in the house. I keep a key outside so if I have called for help because I fell or got really sick the medics could get into the house without breaking a window or door.
All is well.

Good morning. I am feeling much better today and hope to continue to improve. Will try to get my 30 minutes of walking in and do a few things around the house today. Yesterday was not good so not a lot of activity again. It was a lovely day outside and today will be fairly nice but will have some snow moving in and some cold weather so need to get out and clean up after Hailley again. Hope you all have a good day,

Krys, we will start to warm a little next month and May is when we usually get into the spring temperatures. We can still get frost so planting comes late in May for me.

Jane, glad that things are getting better for you. That is so terrible about the attempted abduction. So glad that they didn't succeed.

Krys, I am blessed to be able to do some little things and see God use it to His glory.

We had an attempted abduction of a fourth grader today. It was being talked about on one of the radio stations and the people said they had been taught to yell "fire" instead of "help" if there was a problem. I say this so you can talk to the young people you know about being safe and getting help. People often do not respond to "help" but they do to "fire"

Enjoyed church this morning and then ended up interpreting this evening. I think I did better this evening but when I got home I found my shoulders are aching. We were sharing favorite Bible verses and I said one of mine is I Timothy 3.16. Our deaf lady, who is a new believer got really excited when she read the verse. I think that is why I was supposed to share it.

Take care everyone and stay warm, dry and safe.

Sharon, glad you figured out the bread problem. I have never baked with rye flour.

Krys, yes I think I did pull a muscle or twisted where the joint goes into the hip socket.

I am doing better today. We did not have the signing class because the teacher could not make it.

Hope spring comes soon for you all.

Jane - wonder if you didn't pull a muscle doing that hoeing.

Sharon - I always feel bad complaining about the wind, rain and our cold temps because they don't compare to how cold you get. When do you usually get some spring time weather?

Good morning. We are now in a cool spell and the sun wont be out as much but that is okay as I will just have to keep looking for the day when the snow thaws and we can get outside again. I miss my yard. Yesterday was another fairly good day. I walked for 30 minutes and had a total of 6,407 steps for the day. I did get my furniture vacuumed and down the basement stairs. It feels good to get a few of these things done. It is slow going but it is getting done. I also did a lot of small chores for the day. Today Hailley gets her medicated shampoo bath and those always are good. Hope to get some of the floors vacuumed and mopped today. Hope you have a good one

Krys, yeast was good but it is a rye bread and some of them are just that way. It does taste good so eating it but won't make it again.

Jane, hope the hip heals soon and you could be right about the hoe. Your vegetable stew sound good.

Sharon, you did a lot of walking.
Sorry about the bread.

Krys, the hip is still hurting. I talked to the chiropractor about using hot or cold compresses. He said to use cold because the area is probably swollen. If I do use hot it should be a moist hot.

I am making a vegetable stew with chicken broth, otherwise it is all veggies. My slow cooker is too small so I am using a large pot on the stove.

The weather is great here. Back to dry season weather.
Now that I think about it I used the hoe to get out some roots of a vine that is very invasive. It was a day or two later that my hip started giving me fits. Not sure if there is a correlation but there might be.

I am sounding like a broken record with the weather being in the 20s, sunny but breezy today but I will take it. I am really feeling the sunshine. I hope to get more things done around the house today. Yesterday was a pretty good day and I walked for 30 minutes and had a total of 6,211 steps for the day. I did get the bathroom cleaned and some other things done. Every little thing I get done makes me feel so much better. Slow is the word for the day. We are one more day closer to spring.

Krys, did try the bread again and it isn't the best. I has good flavor but doesn't rise well and is pretty dense. I guess it is the type of bread so won't stress over it

Jane, hope the hip improves. I like to steam or roast fresh veggies.

Sharon, I enjoy eating frozen veggies that can be cooked in the microwave. I often have them for a meal. Just a thought.
Sorry your bread is not turning out. Hope you figure out what the problem is.
Glad Hailleys skin has improved.

Krys, that hip is still giving me fits. I changed my car tune up again so I can see the chiropractor again tomorrow.

I finally heard from the secretary of the man who found my checkbook. I will pick it up because it is duplicate checks so a record of what I have spent. I had all the checks canceled but glad the checkbook is getting returned.

Good morning. Today will be another sunny day with temps in the 20s and windy. I have lots to do and hope to get some of it done. Yesterday was a fairly good day. I walked for 30 minutes and had a total of 6,117 steps for the day. I did some more housework and baked my bread again. I will see how it tastes today but not impressed with the loaf. Cant figure out what is wrong with it. Hailley is slowly improving and hope to get her skin clear again soon. Hope everyone has a good day.

Krys, I love trying new recipes and am glad I am feeling like doing it. I will be very sure to make it a point to eat more veggies. It seems like I have slipped back into the bad habit of eating only what is easy and not so good for me.

Sharon, sorry it is so cold but glad there is no snow or wind.
A good number of steps! Good for you.
Sorry Barb is gone but good that she will be spending time with her DH. Did she bring you groceries before she left?
Good you have a thumb drive back up plan on your computer.

The hip is better today but I will see the chiropractor again tomorrow. I changed my appointment to have my car serviced so I can get the adjustment.
If I never get the checkbook back none of the checks written after Sunday are any good.
I got my hair cut today. The beautician that I really like moved down stairs and has a ramp into the back door. I called when I got there and one of her people came and opened the door. I have tried a couple of beauticians but was not happy with them so have not had may hair cut for over a year.
We had another deaf person join us for evening service. He has been to services before but not for a long time. I am so glad we have an interperter.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Good morning. It will be another day in the teens. It is -3 F. right now so cool. The good thing is that the sun will shine and there will be no snow or wind. I have things to do and need to get out and clean up after Hailley. Yesterday was good. I walked 30 minutes and had 6,401 total steps for the day. I did a little more cleaning and got some things put away. I made a loaf of bread that turned out like a brick so will have to try it again today. I also made a nice enchilada casserole for dinner and it was so good. I am working on adding more veggies to my diet and it is hard to remember them. I will miss my dinner with Barb this week because she is in Florida with her husband while he has a business conference. Hope you all have a good day.

Krys, I used to keep up with putting the recipes I want to try and those that I have tried and liked in but haven't done so well for about a year now so trying to catch up on that.

I have stored recipes on the computer in a cooking app that I have and love it. I back it up to a thumb drive once a week like clockwork so wouldn't lose too much if something happened. Sorry that you are experiencing pain in the hip but good you are taking action. Hope you find the check book. sounds like a bad day.

Sharon, glad your weather has improved and the snow is melting.
Good to hear you are using your computer to store recipes. I hope you have the cloud or something so if your computer crashes you have a backup.
If it is 6:00 p.m. here it is midnight on the west coast and later on the east coast.

Krys, it is so sad that making a buck is more important than our childrens innocence and purity.

I woke up this morning with my left hip really hurting. After lunch with some friends I went to the chiropractor.
Before seeing the chiropractor I went to pay my power and water bills and lost my checkbook. I did go to the bank and canceled all the checks after the one I wrote on Sunday. The security officer at the water and power place helped me by checking my car after I had checked it. He could not find it either.
I have had better days.

Good morning to all. It is a cooler morning today but we will take it. Spring is coming and it will soon be nice and warm again. Hoping for a little more sunshine today and no wind. Yesterday it really settled the snow a lot and the sidewalks melted down pretty good. I am glad about that. It got to 40 degrees. I did walk for 30 minutes and had a total of 6,368 steps for the day. It was a good day. I did some more dusting and polishing of the furniture and got all the stuff on my desk gone through and all the cubby holes cleaned out and things tossed. I took time and input some of my tried recipes into my recipe program on the computer and that made me happy. I did some reading and catching up on my taped shows and even made some Banana Cinnamon rolls and a great dinner. Hope you all had a good day too.

Jane, I forget about our time difference and so was surprised when you said you had lunch with the girls. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes I got rid of a lot of old papers and junk that was sitting there and also files some stuff away. I have a lot of loose papers with recipes that need to be input into my recipe software and got some of that done so I threw away the paper copy..

Sharon, over 5,000 steps is great! Did you down size when you cleaned your desk?

If we had groundhogs on Guam everyone would be happy. We have had clouds and drizzle for about three days now.
I had lunch with the Monday Lunch Bunch at Red Lobster today. The prices were not bad and the servings were ample. We also watched some of the Super Bowl. People came in to eat lunch so it was not rowdy. I have not watched a game under a dome before and was surprised as to how clean the players were at the end of the game. We get local commercials and were late enough that we did not see the half time stuff. If you watched I hope you enjoyed the game.

Good morning. I am waking up to a 38 F. temperature and that is so great. Alas, the temps will be dropping throughout the day with high winds but it will be sunny so all is not lost. It will be a good thawing day. Yesterday was a good day with 25 minutes walking and I had 5,056 total steps for the day. I did get a some more dusting and polishing the furniture done and cleaned up my desk and all the little cubby holes in it. I havent done that in a long time. I did some reading, watched some taped shows and even had time for a few games on my tablet. Good day all around.

Jane, it is wonderful what a difference makes to the mood.

Towhee, so glad to see you back. Hope to see lots more of you.

Krys, it is so good to see the improvement in Hailley. It is so hard when we know that they are miserable and the only downsize is that the prednisone makes her think she is starving and she also drinks a lot more and then needs to get out more.

Sharon, glad you are getting some sunshine.

TOWHEE, great to hear from you. Newsletters for two clubs can be daunting. How wonderful that our memory problems are due to age. NOT!

Krys, a lot of the reasons I enjoy teaching Childrens Church is because there are no politics and no meetings.

We had only morning services today because it is Guard weekend and a lot of our members are either in the Guard or spouses and families of Guards men we do not have an evening service.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Jane - agree wholeheartedly miss the teaching and the kids, don't miss the politics or the stupid meetings.

Sharon - sounds like your weather is slightly improving. Glad to hear Hailley is feeling more comfortable.

TOWHEE - so nice to hear from you. Newsletters can be a bear and consume a lot of time, we're glad when you can spend some with us. We'll be the same age in July, what day is yours?

I'll be 73 in July, another summer baby!
I apologize for not being as active as I should. I got stuck with newsletter duties for two of the clubs I belong to and they take a lot more time than I expected. I'm also starting to have memory problems although my GP reassures me that it's just that I'm over 70. We have started to keep track of my issues and I'm due for another exam in June.

Happy February everyone.

Good morning. It is going to be a lovely day and I feel good. The sun is shining, it will be near 40 today. The only downside is that it will be windy but that might be good to help it thaw faster. The sunshine will sure help the gloomy feeling. Yesterday was a fair day with 25 minutes walking and a total of 4,550 steps for the day. I didnt get a lot done but I did get some misc. small chores done around the house. Today I will finish the dusting and polishing of the furniture. I am starting to see a slight improvement in Hailleys skin and hope it continues. The prednisone has helped the itching so she is much more comfortable. It is looking good for the weekend. Have a good one.

Sharon, glad it is warmer for you and you got some of the things you wanted done accomplished.
How wonderful that your daughter is faithful in bringing dinner and then staying to chat for awhile.
Glad also that Hailley is feeling better.

Krys, I do miss the teaching but not the politics that go with it.

I woke up this morning to cloudy drizzly day. It is still that way so the outside work I planned to do did not get done.

Hope you all stay warm and dry.

Jane - your students were lucky to have such a neat teacher!

SHARON - lucky you had some sunshine; I'm not sure I'd recognize it anymore with so many cloudy/rainy days we've had. LOL

Good morning. Today will be partly cloudy with a little sunshine in the afternoon and warming temperatures. The breeze will come up and maybe we will have a little thawing. Yesterday was a fair day with 20 minutes of walking and 4,229 steps for the day. I did get some of the furniture dusted and polished and did some small chores around the house. Barb brought dinner last night and we enjoy a nice chat session after eating. It was a great night. Hailley was a little more restful. I think the prednisone has helped with the itching. Hope it is a good day for all.

Krys, it my pleasure to be a part of this team. I enjoy everyone so much. Thanks for having us.

Suzie, I sure hope you can find something to work for your little one as it is so hard to see them so uncomfortable.

Jane I love the butterflies also.

Sharon, hope you can get Hailleys itching under control. I have not heard of giving dogs aspirin for pain. Hope it works.

Suzie, I hope you resolve your dogs flea issue quickly.

In case you cannot tell, I love butterflies. One of the projects I had while teaching was to introduce the Crown Plant to the kindergarten court yard. Such a beautiful way to teach the life cycle of the butterfly. When I saw a chrysalis about ready to come out I would bring it into my classroom, put it into a container and let my class watch it come out, fill out its wings and in the afternoon we would take it outside and watch it fly away.

I am a strong believer in the teachable moment.

Thank you for sharing your age, I am 72 with my next birthday in July. I originally joined this team when I entered my 70's. The leader was having issues and one thing led to another and I became the leader. So grateful to get to know you ladies and thanks for being such good participants in my posts.

Jane - I love butterflies, so glad you have plants to attract them.

SHARON - hope you and Hailley are careful on the ice.

SUZIE - could it be that the Trifecta doesn't work for him?

Hello, to answer everyones questions about the fleas, I cant think of anything else to do but bomb the house. He has been on Resolution since we got him 7 years ago. When we took him to the vet, she changed him to Trifecta. That was a month ago. We have sprayed the yard with Home Defense, the house with Adams Flea Spray. We wash his bedding and spray his bed at least 2 times a week. Last week, I took him to the groomer and she suggested Seresto Flea Collar. I also use Adams in between grooming. I took him to the groomer this morning. He said a lot of people were having trouble also. My poor little dog has suffered so much. It is really getting the best of me.

Krys, I will be 73 in May.

Good morning. It will be another gloomy day today with clouds but warming into the 20s again but a little wind. Last of the real cloudy days and we should start to get a little sunshine and thawing tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Yesterday was a fair day for me. I did walk 25 minutes and had a total of 4,884 steps for the day. I had a pretty good breathing day. Hailley got her haircut and doesnt look quite as bad as I thought but not happy with her so will have to put her on a prednisone burst to see if I can help her with the itching. It will help some of her hot spots to heal. Keep up with the baths and move forward. This ice on the sidewalks is hard on her joints as she slips a lot. I will check with the vet to see if she can have baby aspirin for pain and use that on bad days when she is really limping. Hope that all have a good day.

Suzie, what kind of flea medicine does you pup get. Have you tried flea baths. I find it unusual that he could have fleas with the meds.

Krys, I am 77 until October.

Jane, I would love to have a yardman to do some of the garden work for me and cutting back of the climbing roses. In the fall I have so many monarch butterflies and it is beautiful.

Sharon, it is good to hear that you and Hailley are feeling better. Still to cold for me.

Suzie, sorry your pup is having flea problems. Would a flea collar help?
My hair started with a spot in the left temple several years ago and slowly spread. It seems darker in most of the front but when I clipped my hair back so some of it fell forward the gray on top showed up.

Krys, I turned 75 last September. I am blessed that God has given me the years I have had.

My yardman and a helper cut the grass today and changed some of my cactus plants into new containers. I have not cut the grass but had my sons or others do it but I did do the rest of the yard before I broke my ankle in 2012.
My biggest challenge has been getting the Crown Plant, which is a relative of the milkweed back so I have the monarch butterfly in my yard again. Other butterflies also like the nectar of the Crown Plant flowers so I have other butterflies in the yard also.

Jane

Jane - I have a retired teachers' group that goes out to lunch monthly. It is month to stay in touch.

SHARON - glad to hear you and Hailley were feeling better today.

SUZIE - have you tried spraying your yard with flea killer?

Just curious, how old is everyone? Optional to answer of course.

Sharon, I am sorry to hear about Hailleys skin problems. I hate to see an animal suffer.
I have been having a problem with fleas with my pup. We have tried everything we know to do and cannot get rid of them! He gets flea and heart worm pills once a month. He is 7 years old and never knew what a flea was until recently. It is so frustrating.
Three months seems a long time for Spring when you live in that cold of a climate. I pray that it passes quickly for you.
Good for you on the walking!

Jane, lunch bunch sounds like a lot of fun. I have a couple of friends that we go out once in awhile. They both still work, so we dont have a lot of time to spend together. So we try to meet so we can stay in touch.
I can relate to the grey hair. I have a lot more than I thought I did when I pulled it back. emoticon

Good morning. Today will be a little warmer with temps in the 20s, cloudy and a little wind. Seems to be the norm here and we sure could use a little sunshine to brighten things up. I wont complain as it isnt snowing right now. Yesterday was a much better breathing day and I did walk for 25 minutes and had a total of 4,893 steps for the day. I did a couple loads of laundry and washed the blankets that Hailley got sick on. She is feeling better today and am so glad she gets her hair cut. I will be able to see what I am dealing with on her skin and maybe will have to start her on a prednisone burst also for the itching. I sure hope not, I have things I want to get done today if I am feeling good. I will push to get it done. Leg and groin feel pretty good so may try a chair exercise also. Hope it is a good day for everyone.

Suzie, I have lived with the polyps for about five years now. I was hoping I was healed a little year ago but they came back.
I have two groups I have lunch with. One gets together about twice a month and the other weekly. Both groups are mainly retired teachers.
One of the great thing of living on tiny Guam is our variety of people and thus restaurants.
My kids have given me gift certificates for messages before at different hotels so I did not double check.
Walking in the driveway where your DH can see you sounds great. When I walk I take my cane because I do not want to fall. In the house and sometimes going to my car to get things I often do not take it.

Sharon, sorry Hailleys skin has taken a setback. Sorry she was sick which meant added bedding for you.

Krys, one of our Monday Lunch Bunch ladies does the organizing for our lunches. We have a few of us with walking issues so making sure a walker can get into where we are going is important.

I have not done much today but I did get my groceries for the week and went to church this evening. We had praises and I said I woke up this morning which got a bit of a laugh and then a sobering thought.
I clipped my hair back and it ended up showing a lot of gray that usually does not show. I had a few comment about how I looked so different although no one mentioned the gray.

Stay well, warm and dry everyone.

Jane

Jane - glad you went with the massage.

SUZIE - I do volunteer at a couple of places, plus organize luncheons for a retired teacher group, as well as the treasurer for our HMO. Sometimes they get lumped into a nonstop week

SHARON - sorry to hear that Hailley isn't doing as well as you hoped.

Good morning. A light snow has been falling overnight and this morning but it is not even enough to shovel. Going to be cloudy and cool again today with a little more wind. We are having a long stretch of this but it looks like nicer weather come this weekend. I will take what ever we get. Yesterday was a little better. I did get a prednisone taper and antibiotic to see if we can improve my breathing issues and it seems like it is already working. Now if the groin and knee will get better I should be able to do some more walking. I only walked 10 minutes yesterday and had a total of 3,153 steps for the day. I did do 2 loads of laundry and hope to finish it today. Hailley was sick last night so have bedding to wash too. Poor baby. Hope you all have a good day today.

Krys, Hailley is going through another bad patch with her skin. She gets a haircut tomorrow so will see just how bad. I guess I need to go back to 2 bleach and 2 medicated shampoos a week for a little again. It is tough. The last few weeks have been very hard on me with my breathing being so bad and that hasn't helped because I probably missed a few baths.

Jane, glad that the lunch was good and you got to enjoy your friends company. Smart that you went ahead and had the massage anyway. Nice to pamper oneself.

Suzie, your husband sound very considerate and loving. Nice to have someone to look out for you. We most likely don't get into the garden till April but we could have some major thaw come March but it usually in April. A long time yet to go.

Good morning,

Jane, I am sorry to hear about the polyps. It sounds like you are taking the right steps in taking care of yourself.
Lunch bunch sounds like you really enjoy yourself.
I have been to a few Japanese Restaurants and I really enjoy their food.
We dont have too many choices of Japanese Restaurants. The one that we have serves dinner only and is much more expensive, so we choose Chinese Buffet instead.
LOL. I got a kick out of you thinking your gift certificates were for a massage. I am glad you treated yourself anyway.

Krys, I am glad your busy life has calmed down a little. It sounds like you have a very active life. emoticon

Sharon, thanks for the encouragement on walking. My hubby likes me to walk the driveway so he can see me at all times. He worries because I have fallen a couple of times. I fell at our schools track one time. I was trying to make it around one more time....needless to say, I didnt make it. I got a few scrapes but the main thing I hurt was my pride.
Your daily forecast sounds like Spring is a long time coming. When does it start warming up where you live?

Hope you all have a great day! emoticon

Sharon, glad to hear your doctor will communicate with you via e-mail. Hope your breathing improves.

Krys, I hope you did enjoy the event.

I had lunch with the Tuesday Lunch Bunch at Pepper Lunch today. It is a Japanese restaurant that is popular in Japan and other places. They are very accommodating and switched the rice for more beansprouts and the corn for more green beans. I had chicken as the protein. Two other choices were salmon and beef. It comes on a sizzling hot pan that allows the food to cook in front of you. We have been there several times since we gave it a try. It was super busy when it first opened and has not the crowds if you go around 11:30 a.m. which is great for us.
Afterwards I went to have a message that I thought was paid for with a couple of gift certifates from Westin. Found out they were for the restaurants. I had the message anyway.

Jane - some events are unavoidable, but I try not to do that too often!

Sharon - how is Hailley's skin doing? I've always had rescue dogs; they seem to be smarter and more lovable as a rule.

Good morning. It looks like another grey day with light wind and temperatures in the 20s. Love the temps but sure could use some sunshine. We had a little sleet and so it is a little slippery out there. Yesterday was quiet. The pulled muscle in the groin is healing and am able to walk a little better now. I decided to email the doctor to see if there is something to do for this shortness of breath so I can get moving again. It has been long enough with this round. Hope to hear back soon to see if there is something he wants to do. Hope you all have a good day.

Suzie, good job on the walking. It doesn't matter where you walk but that you do it. I used to be able to do anywhere from10,000 to 15,000 steps a day and then got sick a year ago and haven't been able to get anywhere near that again. I will continue trying to.

Krys, Yoda sure is a little cutie. I love small dogs and love the rescue dogs. They are so loving and willing to please. Hailley and I have come to an agreement again over her messing in the house. LOL. No accidents for about a week now.

Jane, I am sorry that you will need to have chemo again. I am sure you are not looking forward to that. Hope your yardman can get the plants into their new pots without any problems.

Sharon, I see the cancer doctor in mid February. Because the other polyps were low grade cancer I am sure these were also. That means chemo again. The one I had before my body reacted against so he will be using a different one. The one he would like to use is not expensive but shipping it here on dry ice will cost over $400. each time it is sent and that would be every time it would be used because it cannot be stored here.

Suzie, walking your driveway is fine. Close to the house for ten minutes! Great.

Krys, having a busy week can be good, just dont over do it.

I spent most of the afternoon getting the papers and going to the insurance company to make sure they have records of the payments I have made. With all that has happened I have lost some of the paper work so got the information from the different clinics. Wore me out.
I did stop and get some big pots to re-pot some of my plants that the pots are breaking up. I have asked my yardman to re-pot them next time he mows my lawn. He has a helper and it will take two to do the job.

Jane - thanks, he's a character. Faster than the speed of light at times. LOL

SHARON - Yoda is a cutie. I've always had big dogs, so this is totally new for me.

SUZIE - thanks, he is adorable (but I may be a bit biased! LOL). It was one of those super busy weeks for me with various volunteer activities and I just didn't get here. Should be a little quieter this next week - I hope!

Yesterday, I walked my driveway for ten minutes. A far cry from my usual 8 to ten thousand steps a day. But I am starting slow for now. I weighed in 2 days early. Today I weighed and lost another lb.

Jane, I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. It is good that you are not pushing the exercise so soon after surgery.
I am saying a prayer for you.

Sharon, I am considering the chair exercises. I am not sure if I will join the team just yet. I don’t want to overload with joining too many teams. I may consider it soon. Thanks you you and Jane for the suggestion.

Krys, Yoda is adoreable! I was wondering where you were. emoticon

Good morning. It is 23 degrees out there this morning and will be cloudy, windy and maybe a little rain/sleet mix. I do need to get out and clean up after Hailley today and that will be my outing for the day. Yesterday was a very quiet day. I didnt do much but I did some reading and catching up on taped shows. Tina got my groceries and that was the extent of my day. I didnt even feel hungry or like anything appealed to me. I need to improve my diet. I have been pretty lax about it lately. I am not gaining weight but not getting healthy foods. Time to do something about that again. One step at a time.

Suzie, hope you do try some of the chair exercises. I do a lot of different ones that I have found on yourtube and it makes me feel better. Good job on the weight loss. I am sure that makes you feel good.

Krys, just love the picture of Yoda. He is a real cutie.

Jane, I am a member of the Chair exercise group and they do have a lot of good information there. Sorry that you are having a tough time since the surgery. Have you had any results back yet and sure hope that you had good news.

Sharon, are you a member of the Chair Exercise Team?
Suzie, The Chair Exercise Team has some good information that may help you. You can go to my page and check my teams, click on that team and check it out.
I agree with Sharon to check with your doctor about the exercises that would be best for you.
Glad to hear you have dropped some weight.
I am hypothyroid and often my body temperature is 97.5F and sometimes lower. I had polyps removed from my bladder a little over a week ago and have had some complications from that. I have had two pervious surgeries but this time recovery has been slower.

Cold weather is not an excuse for me to not walk outside because we do not have cold weather here. I just have not felt that well since the surgery.
I have not received any notices from SP for two days. I have gone to an old post to get on site and then gone to my page and then to the team. I am not a happy camper.

Welcome back Krys. Your dog is a cutie.

Stay safe, warm and dry everyone.

Hello,

Sharon, I havent done any chair exercises lately. Something I might consider. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jane, I hope your fever blister goes away soon. I know how miserable they can be. Just wondering if you have you temperature checked? You mentioned being cold and that sometimes goes along with a fever....hence, infection somewhere.

I have lost some weight! Weighed in with a 2.5 lb. loss. That does help me want to keep on keeping on

Good morning. Another gloomy but warmer day. It will be in the 20s again today with a little more wind than yesterday. There is a lot of humidity in the air which is causing the breathing to be bad so not doing a lot the last couple of days and have a pulled muscle or something in the groin area and it is very hard to walk to that is not good either. I guess I will have to do some chair exercise so that I am doing something. Tina will get groceries for me today and I am happy about that. I was not looking forward to going out. Hope everyone has a good weekend, I sure plan to no matter what I end up doing.

Suzie, have you tried to do some of the chair exercises that are out there. They can really get your heart rate up and some of them can really give you a workout without putting strain on your feet. If you do want to do regular exercise be sure and check with your doctor and see what he wants you to do. Take it slow till your body gets used to it.

Jane, I am hoping to start doing some outdoor walking this summer when I can.

Sharon, I seldom have fever blisters but after last week nothing will surprise me.
I also do much of my walking in the house. I want to get back to walking the cul-da-sac because we have a little hill and I know that is good for the cardio.

Suzie, like any foreign language continual practice is important to retain it.

Blister is still here. I have had another down day. I want to go to Home Depot and get a couple of large pots to replace the ones that are falling apart but I have not left the house today.
It has been cooler outside than inside because my air conditioner is set for 82F. I usually keep it at 80F but my body has been cold for the last few days. I think my thyroid is messing with me again.

Good morning,

Sharon, I have walked around the house also. I had a Fitbit at one time. When I didn’t get all my steps in for the day, walking outside, I would walk the house until I got them in.
I was wondering how you did with such cold weather! “Where there is a will, there is a way!”

Jane, I haven’t started exercising yet. I have problems with my feet from Diabetes and I am scared to do too much. I will try to do some in the near future, but right now, I am just logging my food and drinking my water.
We had a deaf couple in our church for awhile. A young girl did all the signing. She decided to give classes. My husband and I took a few classes. We never followed through though.
I hope your fever blister goes away soon. Those things can be painful!

Good morning. Once again we start the morning in the 20s and it will be cloudy and a little more breezy today. It probably wont warm much during the day but anything in the 20s makes me happy. Yesterday turned into such a nice day with sunshine. I didnt have quite as good a breathing day but did do 20 minutes of walking and had total of 4,926 steps for the day. I read some during the day and rested. Will try to do better today.

Suzie, I walk around in the house. I had a treadmill but hatted it so decided to just plain walk around the different rooms in my house and it has worked well for me. I hope that the scale shows something this next weight in but if not do not be discouraged because like Jane said you are building muscle.

Jane, I am lucky that I don't seem to be bothered with fever blisters or cold sores like a lot of people are. I have a lot of cancer sores in my mouth at times.

Sharon, good to hear you have had a good day.

Suzie, yes, we have had two deaf people join our church in the last few months. I have known them since the summer of 76 when I worked at a day camp for special education students. I learned sign language there and have tried to keep it up but it is a challenge. When I interpret I do a lot of finger spelling as I do not remember the signs for words.
Hope you show a drop in weight but if you have been exercising and gaining muscle dont be concerned.

I have done a lot of sleeping today. I hope it does not interfere with my sleeping tonight.
I have had a fever blister on my lower lip for a few days so I know my body is still not healed from last week.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Jane

Sharon, where do you do your walking? Do you have a treadmill? I have one but I dont use it because it skips and I am afraid I might fall. I used it faithfully when It was working properly.

Glad you got to church. By interpreting, do mean sign language?

As far as the weight goes, I do feel a difference in my clothes.
I am close to finishing my second week of staying within my calorie limit and drinking my water.
Hopefully something will show up next weigh in.

Good morning. It is cloudy and 16 degrees this morning. It will be partly cloudy all day with temps in the 20s. Not too bad a day. It is my night for dinner with my daughter Barb so that will be nice. I am craving bbq ribs so will have to do some checking around to see where she can get some good ones. She will bring dinner here so I dont have to go out in this cold. Yesterday was a nice day with 20 minutes of walking and a total of 4,129 steps for the day. I started to breathe better latter in the day and was able to clear my airways last night so this morning I am feeling pretty good. Hope the day improves and I can get some things done. Sure did sleep good last night. Spring is another day closer so that is good. Have a good one.

Suzie, glad to hear you dropped a little. If you are exercising remember muscle weighs more than fat so you may have lost fat but not weight. That is a good reason to measure.

Sharon, I hope with in improvement of weather your breathing will improve.
Glad the furnace is working good.

I did make it to church this evening. It looked like I was going to have to interpret because the other lady was not there. Our Pastor did the interpreting because his FIL taught the lesson. Afterward we talked and I mentioned that I was really not up to doing it because it was so exhausting and I am still not up to much at this time and he said he was surprised as to how tired he was afterward.
The Chaplain who went to Egypt is back. His tour is over and the rest of the Guardsmen that went with him are returning also. Some of them are church members. It will be good to see them when they get here.
It rained this morning so most of the haze is gone. I am glad as it is hard for those who must be outside.

Good morning. We are 2 above zero today and that is so nice. Yesterday was -21 so you can see why 2 above is nice. It will be cloudy and windy today but in the 20s. Yesterday was another quiet day with 20 minutes walking and a total of 3,493 steps for the day. I am hoping that now that the storm fronts have moved on that my breathing will improve and I will be able to do more. I am tired of being so inactive and feeling drained. I think that I will make some bread today. I can have it with my leftover chili. Today is Hailleys bleach bath and I think after this one I will try to go back to once a week with the bleach. Well, not much to say today so hope you all have a good day.

The furnace is working well and hopefully I won't need to get it repaired this winter.

Suzie, be patient about the weight loss. You might have lost in inches and that counts too. I know it is discouraging but it will happen if you stay with it.

Jane good that you were able to get out for lunch with the Tuesday Lunch Bunch. It is always nice to be able to enjoy friends company.

Krys, you Yoda sounds so cute. I am sure he is loving his new home.

Jane, I might have used another source. I am so use to using it when I post something, I might have done it by accident.
I have not done measurements. I know I should and dont know Why I didnt from the beginning
I weighed myself this morning and showed a loss of .4. I will take it. Better than nothing at all.

Krys Didnt you post a picture of Yoda earlier? If that pic is him, he is adorable!
Today started out 31 degrees and feels like 25. We will have cold for about three more days and then back to warmer days.

Sharon, how terrible for your furnace to go out when it is so cold. I hope you have a backup form of heat.

Suzie, are you using emoticons from another source?
Sorry the scales have not gone down. Are you measuring yourself? A suggestion is neck*, upper arm, bust, abs, waist*, belly button*, hip, thigh, knee and calf. The ones with the asterisk are basic and the others may pleasantly surprise you.

I made it to lunch with the Tuesday Lunch Bunch today. I missed the Monday Lunch Bunch yesterday.
We are having a haze from I think the volcanic eruption near Manila last week. It feels like it will rain but when I look at the sky it is not a rain atmosphere. I do not think it will cause problems breathing but again I have not been outside much. They have not put out a warning about staying inside.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Jane - you are right, I probably wouldn't have enough time to do another team.

SHARON - hope your furnace is still working!! Too cold to be without.

SUZIE - thanks, his ears sometimes slant so it was a given. LOL We are getting down into the 20's tonight, how about you?

👋
Today will be a “take it easy day”so this shoulder will get better.
Today will be 1 week since I started cutting my calories back. I was a little disappointed that the scale did not show a loss. I know you are not supposed to depend on just the scale, but I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

Sharon, I hope that furnace holds up. I imagine it would be quite pricey to get it replaced.
We will have cold weather here for the next few days, I know it will be nothing like yours though. I can’t imagine living somewhere that is that cold.

Jane, I am saying a prayer that you get better soon.

Krys, love your pups name!

Good morning. It will be sunny today with only a light breeze but will still be cold. Last day before it warms to the 20s ad looks like no snow in the 10 day forecast. We are at -14 degrees now. Yesterday was a quiet day here with tough breathing and very tired day so didnt do much at all. My furnace stopped last night and had to call son to come and look at it. It restarted on its own so we changed the filter and hope that is all that is wrong with it. I had this happen once before. When it cools down it restarts. I know the fan is good because that went out last year so I have a new one and all my vents are clear so that is good. Hope it will keep working now.

Sharon, glad the storm is over and I hope you have the thaw you want soon. Good that Hailley can get out because Rick cleared the backdoor area.

Suzie, sorry about pulling a ligament which made your shoulder hurt. Good that they found the urinary infection so you do not need to go back again.

Krys, I know you are a leader to several teams and that is why I have not invited you to another one. If you join us it would be great. Sharon is already a member.
Love the name Yoda.

I stayed home again today as I am still bleeding some and did not want to get out, need the bathroom and have a long walk or wait to get to one.
I do plan to have lunch with the Tuesday Lunch Bunch. It is a smaller group and the place chosen has a bathroom close by.

Take care all and Sharon stay warm.

Jane - glad your health problems got better later in the day. I am leader of the 10K Steps a Day team, and it sounds similar to your Grandmothers Fitness Club. I'll have to check it out!

SHARON - glad Hailley has a path now, it was nice of your son to do that.

SUZIE - So sorry to hear about your shoulder, hope it heals quickly. Yes, that would definitely be a long drive for lunch! emoticon

Hello emoticon
Jane, thank you for the invite. I might take you up on it if I can find my Fitbit and if it still works. LOL. I am afraid I won’t able to add much for awhile.
I did have to go to the emergency room this morning @ 2:00. My right shoulder was in excruciating pain. I had no idea what started it until I found out it was a pulled a ligament. Then I remembered that I struggled pulling a blanket out of the washing machine. They gave Morphine. They ran test and found out I also have a urine track infection. Needless to say I had a pretty rough night.
I was there for 6 hours! emoticon

Krys, I am an animal lover! I love seeing & hearing about how they are doing. Good luck with your pup. What is his name?
I was thinking we could meet if you lived close but Columbus is a little too far for a lunch date. emoticon

Sharon, I love poodles. Some rescues have been through so much. It usually takes extra effort and patience with them but they are so worth it. Thank you for rescuing her. Love her name.

Good morning. The storm is over and we had a little over 4 inches of snow. Doesnt sound like a lot but when the winds are blowing at 40 to 50 mph and whipping the snow around it is a lot and there is no where to put the snow any more. We really need our January thaw so that the snow settles and the piles shrink. My deck is completely filled right up to the rail. My son rick was over last night and did clean out by the back door so that I could get it open to let Hailley out. It is so hard on her when it blows full of snow and she can just barely get out the back door. She is a little trooper though so she does go. Yesterday was a pretty good day with 30 minutes walking and a total of 5, 204 steps for the day. I did a load of blankets and a few other little things around the house. Today is going to be a better day all around.

Suzie, Hailley is a toy poodle and a rescue and she has quite an attitude. She was a real terror when I first got her but has really mellowed out.

Krys, I am taking it easy and staying warm. Looks like Tuesday and after will warm into the 20's so that will be so nice

Jane, sure hope you don't have any urinary problems. That is so not what you need.

Sharon, I am glad you are safe and warm and that someone will clean up after the storm for you.
My family has posted pictures on FB of snow in southern Washington and northern Oregon. It seems to be all over the northern states.

Suzie, Sharon and I belong to the Grandmothers Fitness Club and we have a challenge for walking and then recording it as a group to see how many steps we all have for the month. You are more than welcome to join us and ad your steps to the group when you find your Fitbit.

Krys, I am not sure if I will fly into Atlanta because the friends I would visit there do not want to deal with the traffic they would face because of the time of the flights arrival with my coming from elsewhere. If I do fly in I would love to meet with you.

Things with south for me this morning and I was afraid I was going to end up in ER. I felt like I needed to urinate but could not. That would have meant the urethra was blocked again. I also have had trouble being constipated since the surgery. That has finally gotten better today.
This means I did not go to church today.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Jane

Jane - glad you are doing okay. I'm about 3 hours south of Atlanta. If you ever get there again, we'll have to meet if possible.

SUZIE - I live in Columbus, about as far west as you can get in GA without being in AL! LOL Have been through Valdosta when my mom lived in Tampa, FL. I just got a Chihuahua mix and he is the speed of light, but so sweet and endearing.

SHARON - hope you stay safe and warm with all that cold blustery weather you are having.

Hi Sharon, I sure don’t envy you with all that brutal weather. I do envy you with your consistency for walking. I use to have a Fitbit and was up to walking 8 to 10 thousand steps a day. I still have it somewhere. Maybe I will try to find it today. It will take me some time to work up my steps, but I need to start.
What kind of dog do you have? I have a Chihuahua. He keeps us on our toes! emoticon

Good morning. It is 2 degrees with temperatures dropping. The wind is blowing and we still have snow falling. There is no travel and interstates are closed so not a lovely day out there. I am sure glad that I dont need to be the one to clean up after or need to go out in this. Thank goodness for kids. Yesterday was nasty weather also but I did get 30 minutes of walking and had a total of 5, 132 steps for the day. I used my leftover beef roast and made some stroganoff and I sure do like it. Hailley continues to get better with each bath and I am so glad. I took her off the one treat I had added back in and will see if that helps. Will reintroduce after she has been clean for a while and see if that is a trigger. Seems like that is the only way to find out. I am hoping to get some of my dusting and polishing furniture done that I didnt get done the other day. Hope it is a good weekend for everyone.

Good morning. I have started the day out with a positive note. Already have half of my water down. My breakfast will consist of half bagel and avacado. Its a nice cool day out and the sun is shining so I may even venture a short walk.
Krys, what part of Ga do you live in? I live in Valdosta, just across the Florida line. I am a native Floridian but followed hubby back to his hometown.
Jane, we go to Atlanta sometime but not often. Hubby hates the traffic. We go through to go visit my brother in South Carolina.
I am off to have breakfast and try to get a few things done.
Have a good day everyone. emoticon

Sharon, sorry your SIL had to have surgery and glad he was able to get your groceries.
Sorry you are having more snow.

Suzie, glad you joined us. Taking it slow and careful is a good idea.

Krys and Suzie, I have been to Atlanta a couple of times. Once for an IRA Convention. I have good friends who live in Atlanta.

I am doing okay. Not done much today but got some things organized and getting things together to start a new set of lessons for the Childrens Church class.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Hello. Just checking in. I have done well with drinking my water and staying within my goal so far this week. I have had health issues so I have not added any exercise yet. I plan to in the near future. I have to start slow and gradually increase a little at a time.
We live in Georgia and very seldom have severe cold weather, so I will be able to do a little walking soon. I just have to muster up some courage to start. I think I will start next week.
I am trying to focus on a few goals at a time.
I hope everyone is having a good day so far.
P.S. The fitness minutes you see on page is from a couple of years ago. I have started over because of health issues

Good morning. It is Friday and a storm day for us. It is 9 degrees with wind and we are setting up for a storm today. The winds are strong and it will start to snow this afternoon with about 3 to 5 inches of new snow. It sure doesnt seem to want to give us break with the snow. We sure dont need any more because it is hard to find any where to put it. Yesterday was bad breathing day caused by the weather so didnt get much walking in. I rested my body as it needed it. We will see what today brings. My son-in-law will get my groceries today before it starts to snow so that will be done. Jim is recovering from carpel tunnel surgery so he is not working at present time.

Krys, not sure how much we have had this winter. I hope they will tell us after this storm and I will try to remember

Jane, so glad the catheter is out and hope that the insurance problems are all handled.

Sharon, 7,541 steps sounds great! Really good for you! Glad Barb can shop for you when the weather is bad.
I got the catheter out yesterday around 11:30 a.m. I am better but expect to have some pain when I urinate for a few more days.

Good morning. Brrr, it is -23 F. here this morning and not going to really warm up much. It will be sunny today with little wind so that is a plus. We did get almost 4 more inches of snow yesterday and more coming tomorrow. Sounds like it could be another storm with strong winds. Winter has been hard on us this year. I heard that last summer was the second hottest summer in our history and that this winter has been one of the coldest in a long time. We sure do know how to do things right here. Yesterday was a good day for me and I walked for 30 minutes and did a upper body aerobic video on youtube that was about 45 minutes of good exercise. I had a total of 7,541 steps for the day. That is the best I have done in a long time. It felt really good to do the video and will try to do it again tomorrow. I made a big crock pot full of chili for dinner and boy was it good. Hope you all have a good day today.

Krys, we didn't do dinner so the things are still at Walmart waiting for Barb to pick them up.
She will do that tonight and bring dinner here. It is too cold for me to go out.

Jane, glad the surgery is done and hope the catheter is out now. Hope you are not in pain today.

Sharon, hope Walmart had your order. Sounds like you are feeling better.

Krys, thank you for your prayers.

I had the surgery but because of the location of the polyps I could not urinate afterwards so a catheter was put in overnight. No fun.
I got a call from the urologist office this afternoon. My medical claims have been denied by Aetna Insurance because they say I have another insurance that should be claimed first. I do not have medicare because that Gov Guam would not allow us to pay for SS! So now everything needs to be clearified. What is a blessing is the young man who is the manager for the Aetna office here knows my son and was raised in Yigo! He put one of his people on it and I think all is well! One advantage of living on a small island!

Good morning. It is cloudy today and temperatures are dropping. We will get some snow tonight into tomorrow. Yesterday was a little better day. I walked 20 minutes and had 5,228 total steps for the day. I did get 4 loads of laundry washed and folded and the other two need to be folded. One is still in the drier. Today I hope to get my furniture dusted and polished. I will work on it. It is also my night for dinner with Barb if my order is all in at Walmart. If not, then we will do it tomorrow. I also need to give Hailley her bleach bath today and get out a nd pick up doggie doo. That should keep me busy. I hope everyone is having a good day and feeling well.

Planes left for Manila this morning. Things have settled down for awhile at least. What is sad it because it was an act of nature the airlines were not required to help the people get rooms or even food. Some people here brought food up to the airport for the people.

Sharon, hope your lungs are better. Good that you were able to give Hailley a bath.
The toe minus the nail is fine. I did tear some of the skin off so it will take awhile to completely heal.

The urologist changed the time of my surgery tomorrow from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. which meant I had let my son and others know of the time change.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Good Monday morning. I am feeling energized this morning and hope it continues. I have lots to get done. It is a little warmer again today but then will cool down again. Hoping that when we get through this cold snap that we will have a little warming trend. Yesterday was bad. I was unable to even move around and I contribute it to the weather and mucus build up. I finally cleared things out last night and that has sure helped. I think the only thing I did do was too give Hailley her bath. I am going to make today a better day. Hope you all have a good one.

Krys, I am reading a suspense/mystery called Hell To Pay by Wendy Corsi Staub. I like her books and they are quick reads.

Jane, so happy to hear the toe is better. How is the one that you had the nail removed from. I am sure it is healing but those are tender for a long time.

My toe is not hurting today so I had my nails trimmed. The lady who trims them does a really nice job and is careful about touching me so I am not tickled.

I picked up the books that I ordered today so I will have something to read when I get home from the surgery on Wednesday as I am not to drive or sign legal documents for 24 hours.

The Phillipines is having a volcano erupt near Manila so no flights are going in or out of there until things settle down. That also means that tourist who planned to leave Guam are stuck here until things settle down.

Hope everyone is safe and dry where you are.
