Enjoy your slow paperwork day and awesome on having a better day today! My workout so far is to finish all this house cleaning...out of town family is coming in, and that seems to be the only time we really hardcore clean around here. It's extremely hot here today so if I'm lucky, I will have enough time to get in the pool to do some laps and soak up the sun.

Good morning everyone, so far today is MUCH better than yesterday, I haven't attempted any exercising today, but I did get out of bed early and shower and even made it to work a few minutes early!

So far, my energy levels are higher than they were yesterday and I remembered to find and bring my resistance band to work with me and have plans on pacing the whole office since I seem to have a slow paperwork day!

Well, I am glad to see you here. I personally can't say I can help with negative/tough love comments, I am trying to be positive because the more I encourage others and say positive things to others, the more I find I am positive with myself. It has taken me 27 years to figure out how to be nice to myself! LOL! I hope you stick with us here, I just joined a little over a week ago and I love it!

Congrats on your wedding - and I KNOW if you want it bad enough, you WILL get into that dress. You can do it!

Hey everyone, after a long absence, I have returned to Spark! I'm not sure why I went away exactly, but while I was gone, I tried many different things to aid in my weight loss...not one of them worked...in fact I even gained back some of the weight I lost. My weight issues aren't the only things that changed during that time, my wedding date did as well. Instead of getting married October 6th, 2012 (at that awesome tailgate), we have decided to push the wedding back to July 6th, 2013 (that's just fun math in my opinion-get it July (7) + 6 (th) = (20)13). We moved the date mostly to save money, but the added bonus is that it gives me more time to squeeze into my wedding dress. However...I still have a massive issue with motivation (what fat person wouldn't prefer to sit on the couch and do nothing instead of working out). My diet has slightly improved, and I'm still working on getting all the junk food out, but one step at a time. I know this team (as well as many others on this site) is chock full of motivators and supporters, so I'm reaching out to all of you. Help me...please...I know most strive off of positive reinforcement...I however love the negative, it makes me work harder, so yell at me on my spark page to get up and move, sparkmail me a message about how I will never fit into my dress if I don't...whatever it takes. I've always been independent, but I've learned that doesn't work so well, so as I said before, I'm asking for help. I'm glad to be back and can't wait to reconnect with everyone again. Thanks in advance everyone!

P.S. If you wanna stalk me on facebook to make sure I'm doing what I should be, let me know.

So I spent all day researching beachbody, and am liking what I see. Its intense, but isn't that the reason why we're all here, we weren't intense enough with ourselves in the first place, and that's why we're here. Turns out my roommate has Insanity, but it's in the family house, so I'm ordering P90x by Thursday (will have the cash then), and we're going to bring it, commitment, commitment. 3 of us are going to do, and I am going to see it through to the end, come hell or high water. emoticon

Hey!! Almost been an entire month since I've chatted with the team...doing great on my personal challenge of losing 22lbs in 12 weeks. Only have 18.8 lbs left to go in 10 weeks. Just came back from my Jam session (Cardio dancing) and it was GREAT!!! Hope everyone is still going strong

Feeling pretty good today. I went to the gym this morning and tried a couple of the machines I could not do at all when I first joined Jan. 1. I was able to do 10 reps on the abdominable machine where you stand, place your arms on the arm rests, and raise your legs straight out in front. Another 10 reps on the abdominable machine where you sit and place your legs behind the bottom bar and then bring your elbows to your knees. Very difficult to do, but I could actually do it today. One more thing, I did the elliptical for 10 minutes at 4.7 to 5.0 (practically jogging) the entire time. I spen t 2 hours at the gym totally so I did much more than these few things, but these were things I was not able to do 3 months ago. Now I am able to see my progress in these exercises, the mirror, and the way my clothes are fitting. Feeling pretty good! :)

back to deep freeze here in Winnipeg, yet again, we are starting to think Spring will never show up.

My body must think it still needs the excess fat for warmth, although, it is coming off lately.

Unoffocially I have lost another couple, the official weigh in for my contest is next week, but my scale and the gym scale seem to be pretty close, when I checked last week my scale is a pound heavier - so if that holds tru I am down another 3 pounds

I always weigh in in the buff and usually right after I wake up. It's the most consistent method I have. Though I have still seen dramatic day to day changes.

congrats on the 2 pounds!!

for the sudden drop to 6 pounds - were you wearing same clothes? weighing in at same time? were you dehydrated?

there are so many variables

I have one sweater that actually weighs 3 pounds - yes, I have weighed it

When I weighed yesterday, the scale showed 266lbs. Today when I weighed, it showed 260 lbs. A difference of 6 lbs. Don't get me wrong, but what gives?

I also saw the post from themightylex and went through some of my clothes. Now I am able to wear pants that were way too tight a few months ago. Now they are loose. I also bought a new pair of jeans about 2 months ago that were too tight. I couldn't even button or zip them. I was using them as motivation. I am happy to report that I can now wear them too. So, thanks Lex. That was a great idea to help keep me motivated. Thanks!

I saw the post from themightylex and decided to go through my closet last night. I have kept a few boxes of clothes over the years that didn't fit and I hoped to get into one day and I was thrilled to find several items that I can wear now. Even though I have only lost 26 lbs so far I can see a difference in my clothes and it was awesome so thanks for that post. And the clothes that still don't fit are my next goals can't wait to get in them.

ADEARMAN, go and try on some clothes in your closet right now. Anything fitting better. Are you able to get into something you couldn't last week? When the scale isn't inspiring me, I go to the closet. I have a bunch of freebie shirts from all sorts of events, and in various sizes. Some I kept just so that I can use them to mark my progress. It's a good way to see the results, even if the scale doesn't let you read them.

Drink your water.

Well, I didn't lose any weight this week. I wonder if I should weigh every day or every other day to help keep me on track. When I try so hard for a week, and then not see results on weigh in day, I get disappointed and lose motivation. If I keep a closer eye on it, it may help. Any ideas? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi everyone! I am so impressed by all the activity and triumphs over throwing it all in...such a temptation! Been there, expect to be there again, but today is not the day! I am always motivated watching The Biggest Loser--tonight is no exception. I even stayed on the Gazelle for 30 minutes while watching (I have been getting a consistent 15 minutes a day in--an occassional 20) and burned 923 calories because I made that thing MOVE! emoticon

Valentine's Day has never been a big deal in my house because my DH's birthday is the 13th. We always celebrate his birthday and pretty much just pass over Valentine's Day. My DD and some friends came over yesterday along with my DS and DIL and my DD cooked. Her friends all have food issues, so she made a pretty healthy dinner. There was cake but that has never been my nemesis. No ice cream, because that is!

Just stopping in to say hello and wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day! I haven't had a "Valentine" since my husband passed away but I am planning to make this day special for myself. As soon as work is done I am going to buy myself some flowers and find a sappy, love movie to watch. I have always loved Valentine's Day and I can't imagine a more perfect Valentine than myself. :)

Although I did get a pretty amazing Valentine from my 11 year old son, a beautiful card that says on the front... "I love you Mom.... (A Valentine Thank You).." Inside was beautiful and made me cry. I have no idea when he bought this but I am amazed that he thought to do it! He also gave me a box of chocolate which he promised to help me eat! lol

What a great start to my week!! Hope everyone is feeling loved today especially by the most important person of all...... yourself! :)

Way to go Pennplax, running is a great cardio. I used to get shin splints a lot but now I don't even think about them....just stretch and do what your body will let you do.

As for my morning...the scale has been very good to me again! I have by 4th weigh in tonight for my community biggest loser group and I am still very excited. I was 3rd last week, as long as I stay in the top 20 and get my user name in the paper that will be a good day :) Everyone have a great day!

Hi, I'm new here! I am really impressed with what all of you are accomplishing, and I want to do it, too! Tell me what you are currently doing to lose weight, what keeps you motivated, and all that exciting stuff... As for me, I am currently doing kettlebell for strength training, and for cardio, training for a sprint triathlon. I found that the long term goal of the triathlon motivates me to keep on going---plus it is pretty fun (to swim, that is) I just re-joined the Y and have had 2 successful weeks. I am also working on my eating patterns, trying to follow the Eat to Live book, as I lost weight with that before. (It is mostly lots of fruit and veggies and beans.) I have about 125lbs to lose to get to my goal weight of 145. Medication has been putting the lbs on me, and now I am on less. Woohoo! Hoping to get to my goal now!---happylady

Congratulations Penn. I am deathly afraid of getting shin splints, so I just speed walk. I don't think I'll ever be a runner. Sometimes I sprint uphill, but that's about it.

It's awesome that you are progressing toward your goal! Slow and steady is the way to go.

Good Morning Everyone. Just thought I would check in. I was really excited to let people know that I actually ran for 15 minutes yesterday. It feels good. I have been plagued with shin splints in the past and I am hoping to work up to running slowly enough to prevent them from occurring.

I can do it.

Thanks Lex :) I enjoy helping when I can, drama was never anything I was interested in but my oldest was very shy but loved to sing, drama kind of found us and it was a great way to get her out of her comfort zone and get to know other kids. People find it hard to believe that she was ever shy and from her it has pretty much become a family passion. Besides school activities, the kids are also involved with a local performing arts school in the summer. It is great to see how proud they are when they perform not to mention the commitment, practice, discipline it takes to get ready for a show. Definitely keeps them out of trouble. :)

When I was a kid we weren't allowed to be involved with any sort of school activities (my mom was overly religious and feared "bad influences" little did she know how bad the church kids really were! lol) So excited for opening night for my son's play tonight. This is is first musical and he has several solos.... should be fun.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. Glad to hear you having a great day and week. Attitude is everything! :)

My brother and I were theatre kids. Involved in acting, set and costume making, music, and dancing. It's a heck of a lot of fun and work. Our parents weren't very involved, so it's cool to hear you taking such an active role in something your kids like to do.

All that running about will make for some great fitness opportunities. It's also great that you are planning ahead for healthy snacks. Congratulations!

I'm having a great day, and week so far! Thank you.

Hello everyone! :)
Gearing up for a busy week this week. All of my children have a passion for drama (both on stage and off! lol) and two of my children are in productions that open this week! My son is the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland Jr at his middle school, he has 4 shows this week and my daughter is in her high school production of Hairspray as a Dynamite. Her show opens the same night as my son's but thankfully her show has a two week run so that I will be able to see both of them equally. :) So besides the shows, I have been crazy sewing costumes for the middle school, providing food for late night meals at the high school, driving to & from practices, listening to late night vents as the production of Hairspray is running behind schedule and is very stressful. Oh and I have to of course usher, help with the tickets, buy flowers for opening nights....

Oh my, I sound like my drama kids! lol This is all so much more overwhelming as a single parent. I really have to remember to breathe! And of course plan my meals so that I don't run into trouble with finding myself hungry and being tempted with an easy fix of fast food.

Today my goal is to plan my entire week of menus, make a shopping trip for what I need for the week and buy extra healthy snacks to keep in my car just to be on the safe side.

Hope everyone is having a great day today!

So I have had 2 binge days this week and these were my first real 'eat everything in sight' binges since I started my journey 5 weeks ago. They seriously sucked because I knew what I was doing with each item that I put in my mouth but I couldn't stop myself. I actually came pretty close to saying screw all this just so I wouldn't have to hear that little voice inside my head saying 'you shouldn't eat that' or 'that equals 500 calories' BUT I didn't and right now that feels like a triumph to me.

Cravings for the past 2 weeks have been through the roof. I usual do great in the mornings and then by my first break I can barely stop eating the darn candy a chick from work brought in. TODAY, it is all gone....something to do with me eating some of it, but I mentioned to her in passing that if she does that again, I am going to toss a lot of it.....I don't think I was joking.? Then I do pretty well til I get home, I am a little bummed, but oh well tomorrow is another day. I was hoping to be well rested tonight so I could get in a good workout in the morning but I am already 1.5 hours behind getting my 8 hours in GRRRR.

So far I have lost 2 pounds. Everybody is talking about exercise but my big monster is food. I have to feed my family and myself and stay healthy. It works out sometimes and not so much for others. Currently (until I get bored) I am doing Insanity every other day. My body is so sore afterward! I like how it makes me feel but It is hard work especially with a toddler running around while I'm jumping. I wish I had a workout buddy but no one seems to like the same exercises I do except men and my husband would not be too thrilled if I am hanging out, working out or being so close to another guy(who isn't family). Anyone have any ideas?

I have 147 pounds to loose, and 1 year, four months to do it. I *will* be at my goal when I turn 28, and attend my ten year high school reunion!

My February goal is to to loose ten poundsl! I will be doing a food photo journal, and daily (I know, i know - people say not to weigh in that often - don't lecture me) weigh in to keep me motivated.

First, I want to say emoticon Jones for achieving your goal! It's so inspiring to see that this battle can actually be won!

My own journey suffered a small setback this morning as I stepped on the scale and found a gain of 2.2 pounds. However, I was determined not to let this get me down or push me backward. I decided to get my exercise in early and managed to increase my cardio from the usual 10 minutes to 20 and got in my strength training as well. So all in all I feel pretty awesome and revved up to make the rest of the day count.

So, tell me, if you had to list the one thing that made the difference in how long you stuck with it - what would it be?

SCRAP317,
Welcome to the team! I'm fairly new myself. I've been reading over information about calories needed to lose versus maintain as well as calories burned. I had hoped to have lost ten pounds this month but seem to have stalled at five. Bummer! Tomorrow though is a new day and the battle shall continue!

Hi Everybody! I'm Chris - I'm new to this team. I hope you don't mind me popping in!

I started this journey eons ago at 282 and my goal is to get to 180 this year. Hefty goal, I know. Hey if I can get to Ond-der-land by the end of the year I will call it a success - aim high, right?!

I read back a few posts. Sounds like we have some things in common - I also have a wedding to get ready for in July. Not family, just a close friend's daughter. My son also graduates high school in June so I would love to be a lot thinner in those photos! So far in January I've lost 9.6 pounds - 24 pounds total since my heaviest. I definitely have wiggle room in my exercise schedule to push myself to the two pounds a week challenge.

Anything else I should know about this team?

I had gone through al lot of mess in a short amount of time., Family issues, loss of loved ones, weight going in wrong direction, etc. You get the point. I woke up this morn and told myself it's a brand new day and I am going to live in a whole new way! So I am back and I am rip roaring and ready to go! emoticon

Hi everyone!
I've enjoyed reading over the past posts and have to say that many of us appear to be having sleep issues. Early to bed is becoming a luxury. Maybe I can set up a schedule for myself.

I've had a great two weeks but I'm a bit worried about this one because I won't have much access to a gym O_O. I'm hoping to focus on my food intake and stay close to the lower end of my calorie range and maybe do some home workouts. Hope everyone has an emoticon week!

My oldest daughter just got engaged and I am determined NOT to go down that aisle in a mu-mu. I do a lot of self talk to get through tough days and temptations. I remind myself of the other challenges I have overcome and although some were harder than others, all have helped me to develop the tools I need to conquer this addiction to food I have. Hang in there, we can do it one good choice at a time.

I created a new name for myself on Spark and wanted to make sure I didn't lose-touch with any of you. I've re-joined the team with my new i.d. Amber, try going to bed 10 minutes earlier than normal. Then just increase it over time. It should help you be able to get up earlier in the morning!

Good morning, i also agree about not enough hours in the day. I woke up late today, which throws me and the kids off....i dont know why i cannot get up in the morning like other people. My husband can just get up, it takes an army to drag me up ....i am hoping today is a good day, i was hoping for more of a weight drop since i have been doing a lot of exercising (compared to the none i have done for years) but i know it will catch up soon and pounds will start dropping off

I would love more hours in the day! Debbie, keep your head held high. I can't imagine what you are being asked to do, but I know you can get through this!

Why aren't there more hours in the day that I don't have to work or don't have to be running kids around?!? emoticon

I can do it.

Debbie, sorry to read all those issues. Just take a breath, and try not to let the kids onto it, it is probably stressful for them to. Hang in there and then when she returns remind her what being a mom is about and all the responsiblities that come with it, this way you can try to have her see things your way. Go play in the snow tomorrow if it happens....you could throw a few snowballs and that might also make you feel better too. emoticon

Found out yesterday that my DD will be away from home all week so I am on my own with the boys. It is a mixed blessing. I could use her help at night but at least I don't have to worry about getting her to school/work too this week.

I am trying to be calm about it but right now they are calling for a snowstorm tomorrow night into Wednesday. A school delay/closing may just put me over the edge.

Oh no, I am so sorry Debbie. Sounds to me like maybe you feel like you have been taken advantage of. You can't do much about it now, try to make the best of it but, your going to have to make sure that they know your not available again.

People wether they are friends or family will take as much as they can get. I had to let a few of my family members know a long time ago I am not a sap especially with giving out handouts. If I look like a B then so be it.

Hang in there. emoticon

Hi all. I am struggling with some dark feelings right now. I agreed to watch my niece's boys for a 'few' days while she takes a trip at a time when I was feeling sorry for her. Now I feel sorry for me - a 'few' days turns out to be Tuesday night through Sunday night. I don't know what I was thinking - I barely have enough time now. Getting the little one to and from daycare every day as well as all the things you have to do with kids on top of my other responsibilities... I am absolutely DREADING this week. I am angry at myself for agreeing and angry with my SIL who encouraged my niece to move here with promises of all kinds of help that she never delivers. And all I want to do is feed my anger.

Hello team! Day is going well. I did a 30 minute last chance workout this morning and I will be heading home in the next hour to do 30 minutes of Tae-bo.
