I forgot to tell you at Ft. Stevens one of the things we saw was a big bull elk with a huge rack laying down in a field and on the way back to town the cutest mama duck crossing the road with her little ducklings.
I finished weeding the raised bed and planted Cosmos.

Karen, We wondered where you were and you were out having fun going to garage sales. Great buy on the K cups.

Yes Karen, I have that book. I have made some bread from it, some ice cream...can't remember what else. It is a nice cookbook.

Glad you are having fun with your Sis. Yard sales...oh my.

Good to see you are ok.

Jan, sounds like a nice day with Bruce.

I have been going with my sister & her BF to some garage sales this week. We go in the afternoon when it is not so busy. Yesterday I got a box of K-cups for a good price & also the 1963 yearbook of my hubbies school. Hubby was on several sports teams so his picture is in the book a few times. My kids will enjoy it.

I hate to hear what is going on in Seattle. Rolland's sister lived near by so we visited several times & it was so nice. The Fish place, restaurants & just walking down the streets are such good memories. I am so sad that the two kids from Idaho are dead. The mom & stepdad bring such a nasty picture of Christianity. The media news is so upsetting on most days.

I found Joanna's book KITCHEN MIRACLES today for .50. There is a recipe IMPOSSIBLE VEGETABLE PIE that I hope to try. Do any of you have this book?

We are having perfect weather. The birds have taken off but I still see them in my yard.

We have 2 new cases of covid in the county today. Both are over 80 year old so likely in the nursing home.

Hope to get back tomorrow!

Great yarn colors, Patty. I laughed at that commercial, too.

Bruce and I drove out to Ft. Stevens for first time in many months. The upper viewpoint of the ocean parking lot was closed while they worked on it. Sand washes up and changes things. We parked in the lower lot and walked up to see the wreck of the Peter Iredale. Then drove down the jetty roads to the spit where they were also rebuilding. I guess they've used the Covid time for good use. It was good breathing that ocean air.

I've been out doing some yard work. I found a bin with a drain hole to plant some lettuces in- at least temporarily.

Jan, that commercial always cracked me up, the last little piggie went wee wee wee all the way home...lol

Sounds like a nice day if you get to go the the park.

I got my yarn girls. So pretty. Let's see if I can find some pics of it. Oh I know where it is. Be right back.

Well the yarn pictures went all over this post...but you can see them.

The one is pastel colors with peach, cream
spring meadow, brighter colors of pink /green etc.
ivy league with the green/blue/cream
faded denim with shades of blue

I am excited...so excited.

Good morning Glenna & Nina & girls,

It looks like an inside kind of morning here at least. The weather report said partly sunny but I see rain! I really need to sweep and mop and vacuum.

Nothing particular planned for this weekend but I hope Bruce and I can take a ride out to Ft. Stevens state park - it's been closed for months and our favorite place to see woods, ocean, grasslands and all kinds of wildlife. We can check to see if the ocean is still there!

Glenna, How nice to have 3 new chickens. Last time I was at our farm & garden store they had two big bins- one with little yellow chicks and one with ducklings.

Nina, Your chicks sound like so much fun to watch. Enjoy your day inside prepping food.

Oh, you girls reminded me - I saw an announcement on FB that since we are in phase 2 and the governor has approved somewhat larger groups our fairgrounds will be able to do an abbreviated showing/judging for the livestock kids have been raising. I'm so happy for them.

Patty, You must have been typing at the same time. I LOVE that lilac ombre! I think there are Rhode Island Reds? I'm sure there are other reds, too. I like that hat pattern.

mine, pink in center and lilac ombre' for petals. I love that lilac ombre'. It is the color of lilacs...

Good morning Girls,
Glenna, what a pretty chicken. We had Barred Rocks and the reddish colored ones, can't remember what they are called.
I remember someone had some smaller hens that laid colored eggs...smaller though.
They are so pretty.
That hen you showed looks like I could pick it up and give it a nice big hug, so nice and fluffy.

Nina, sorry about the smoke. Must be hard with your breathing problems. Is it asthma that you have? Can't remember.
Have fun in the kitchen.

Well girls, a high of 58 here today. brrr. furnace is on that's for sure.

Finished up a brown hat this morning. A new to me pattern. I really like it.

I don't think I am going to finish up that afghan. Not wanting to work on it. It was fun for a while though.

Just started a dark blue hat, same pattern. It has ridges going down the sides. I will see if I can find a picture of the pattern. Be right back. See the ridges?

Either pork chops or steak for supper. Both are thawing in the frig.

We had that baked oatmeal that I made yesterday, for breakfast, with an apple. yum. I topped hubby's with lite cool whip too. I didn't want the extra points for the cool whip.

Have a good day Girls.

Good Morning Glenna and Everyone

The smoke is here. It was some what bad yesterday but today it is really bad. We are suppose to get winds this afternoon. Will blow some out but sure feel sorry for the men fighting the fire when the winds start up.

My plans for today are inside of course. Have lots of house hold things to do. Still food to cut up, separate, and put in containers.

Will get in the 90's again today. Will be running the air conditioners . Thank goodness for them.

My chicks are sure growing. I had fun watching one of the little ones grab a green twig from a bush through the fence. It then ran around trying to stay away from the rest of the chicks. So last night I gave them a little lettuce and cabbage trimmings and they thought they were in heaven.

Glenna – those chicks are really pretty. I have some that are similar colored. I have some almost all grey color and they are sure pretty. Waiting to see how they are when they are fully grown. Have fun this week-end. Some of the chicks I got look just like your picture. DDIL got them for me and do not know some of them.

Good morning Girls,

Fridays are always fun aren't they? The excitement of a weekend, a change in routine!

It is cool here this morning. Only 52, but a predicted high of 84! Such beautiful weather. I am loving the cool nights and the sunny days. Such wonderful working weather. A far cry from those 90's and high humidity we just had.

Patty, That was a wonderful story you told about the couple buying the lawn mower. It always makes me feel good to hear things like that. Gives a nice warm glow from inside. I love that dish cloth. So very pretty. I like the pattern and the colors you have been using.

Jan, Yes, we do have so much to be thankful for each day. And it is wonderful to realize it and appreciate it. Thank you for thankful Thursday. What are you up to today? You are always busy with something.

Karen, Are you blessed with the cooler weather, too? I am guessing all the baby birds have left the nest by now. They are so fun to watch.

Nina, Sounds like you are busy on the farm, too. I have had lots and lots of lettuce to eat. I think I saw some radishes big enough to eat, too. I have both leaf lettuce and Romaine. I have been favoring the Romaine. I love the flavor and it is so tender. Even when bigger.

I told you all wrong about what breed of chickens I was getting. They are Wyandotts. I guess I misunderstood the lady that gave them to me. There are three of them. Two are lighter colored and one is darker. Here is what they look like.

They are much smaller than this, but you can see the markings really well in this picture.

They aren't quite as big as this bird.
