Well I sat my husband down and talked to him. He said we can try looking for a church again. Yeah. I miss having a church family.

YATMAMA, Thanks for sharing the devotional I enjoyed reading it.
Yes, I too have dropped out of Church , a number of times in my life but ,I never stopped believing in The Lord, and praying . Many times I moved and there would be a gap before I found a new Church Home, but the verse that says " Forsake not the gathering of yourself with like believers." , encourages us to attend Church and fellowship with other Christians and that verse always leads me back.

SparkLove, for different reasons I stayed away from church for many years, too. God is so faithful! He called me back, led me back, and established me again in blessed fellowship. That one lone caribou who strays from the herd is definitely on the hungry lion's menu. We MUST stay in fellowship to be truly strong in the Lord.

This devotional blessed me today and I want to share it with you.

Choose Faith Instead of Fear

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go"
(Joshua 1:9, NLT).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Did you know that fear works just like faith but in the opposite direction? In the same way that faith opens the door for God to work in our lives; fear opens the door for the enemy to work in our lives.

The Bible says that fear has torment. Fear has no mercy. If you act on fear instead of acting on faith, it will keep you depressed, miserable and lonely. And so many people today are missing out on God's joy, peace, and victory because they keep giving in to fear. They feed fear by what they watch on TV or at the movies. Don't let that be you! Romans tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. The more you fill your heart and mind with God's Word, the stronger you will be to stand against the powers of darkness. Choose faith instead of fear by choosing God's Word.

Remember, the power that is in you is greater than the power of fear. When thoughts come that say, "You're not able", choose faith by saying, "I can do all things through Christ!" Choose faith today so you can overcome fear and live in the freedom God has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, I receive Your Word today which is life, health, and strength to me. I choose to close the door on fear by guarding what I say, what I listen to, and what I dwell on. Fill me with Your love and faith, and I meditate on Your Word. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

~Missy~

You may have to visit a lot of Church's before you find one that suits your family needs.

If you find one that you like and your husband will not go then take the kids and go alone, pray in time your husband will join you.

It is a long story, but I dropped out of Church when my children were teenagers and I regret it. Their father told them I should not make them go to church if they didn't want to go and I caved in and not only didn't take them but stop myself. I wish I could of been stronger at the time and put my foot down instead of getting discouraged, but we can't change the past.

Don't give up, keep looking for a Church Home and praying about all of it. May The Lord guide and direct you. May The Lord bless you!

Not going to a church can be hard when you have kids. With your son not wanting to go, it might be hard to include him in any type of family devotionals. I would do the following:

Look up Christian home school groups--not local, but online. Many of them also home church, and may have ideas for you.

Look up groups of Christian parents of teens, and see how they handle no church.

I would think that next to your own Bible study and reading, and living the life of a Believer, having fellowship for your son (as well as for you and your husband and daughter) would be the most important thing to maintain.

Asking the L-rd's blessing in your search.

Hi all. We can't seem to find a good church to go to . Our 16 year old son ofcourse doesn't want to go . We Have to find a place that is handicapped for our daughter. And we don't like mega churches. My husband has no desire to go now. We are disapointed in churches here. Any suggestions?

The kids and I had such a great day. It never got past 82*, so we spent almost the entire day outside. We worked in the garden, picking veggies, eating figs, and clearing out some of the very tired plants to make room for a fall planting of veggies. We did laundry in the swimming pool (I don't have a washer or dryer emoticon ) and hung it up to dry. We came in about 5:30. Kids were bathed and showered, dressed for bed, and little Jacob fell asleep before mom could even get here.

Legos came out, and Hunter worked on his pyramid. Jacob made an airplane.

For those of you who will be going to church tomorrow, have a blessed time in the L-rd.

My nephews had Legos to play with when they were younger. I had an Erector set with metal pieces and real metal nuts and screws. But no matter how much I followed the directions, I could never build something hat looked like the pictures in the manual. Guess I'm not the mechanical type.

Hi Joy,

Tomorrow I have my grandchildren for the day. It's a weekly thing, and has been for years. I look forward to it, and have such special relationships with my grandchildren because of it. In the morning we'll do some gardening. They all love to garden, even Jacob loves it. He's one year old. Jorja is four, and Hunter is nine. Then, in the afternoon we'll head indoors. It's supposed to be in the 90s (YUCK!!!), so we will make salsa with veggies from the garden, and of course, eat it! Then it is time for Legos! I have the biggest collection of Legos--they fill, to the brim, a 64-quart bin. Soon I will not be able to close the lid!

Yes, Lou--where does time off go???

Hi everyone,

I would love to see this group become very active. The fact is, I need this group, and I need fellowship daily with fellow believers in Messiah. I will try to post every day...anyone else game?

"The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Messiah. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we are all given one Spirit to drink...But G-d has arranged the parts of the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be...so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Now each of you are the body of Messiah, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 18-20, 27.

much love to you all,

laurie

A wise and knowledgeable member added to the reply about the missing 'o's:

To those Jewish people who revere G-d, it is a sign of respect, a protection of G-d's Name (I cannot cause anyone to destroy the Name of G-d by what I have written because G-d is not really His Name), and because it is a symbol of the hidden Name of G-d (YHWH--some pronounce as Jehovah, not correct because there is no J in Hebrew, or Yahweh--possible, but I do not use it because if G-d wanted us to know how to say it, He would have told us.

Does this help to explain the missing 'o's? I had to ask myself because I had not see things written this way before.

Lou

For a Jew it was such a holy word that they refrained form writing the whole thing. They would omit the vowels is Yahweh out of respect and reverence for the Lord.

Ok, I'm fairly new, I have a question...Why do people type G-d or, L-rd....and not the whole word, it's not a curse word, will we get in trouble if it's typed out? If so God the Father is Lord and Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit rule!

emoticon Happy Friday everyone. I am so glad it is Friday. I have had a very busy week. A friend of mine and I decided to take a day trip with our kids. Her two kids are the same ages as my two youngest and what a time they have when they are together. They play non-stop, they don't fight or argue but they are constantly going. We took them to the museum that has a dinosaur exibit, indian and civil war artifacts. My 8 yr old and hers are still talking about the civil war stuff. The little ones liked the dinosaurs and they had a kids corner in that section that kept them busy for 30 minutes or so......

Anybody have any big plans for the weekend? I hope we get to take it easy this weekend. We have been cleaning, had a garage sale and fixing things for about a month now so we are due to relax.

May God bless you all with a nice weekend. I will talk to you all tomorrow. Have a good evening.

Hi, Mina - I just read the last couple of posts. Been up to my earlobes the last few days so I haven't been keeping up with message boards as well as I should. I am on Day 12 of The Lord's Table and doing pretty well. I wanted to tell you that I do not fast because I take certain meds that must be taken with food, but more importantly because I tend to have low blood pressure. That makes me light-headed at times and not eating enhances that effect. When you start this study, you are told that if there is a reason you should not fast, not to worry about it. You don't have to. What I have done instead is eat one meal and a snack rather than three meals some days (kind of mini-fasts.) I did try this study once - over a year ago - and didn't finish it. I guess I just wasn't ready at the time. I agree that if you are just beginning other things, it might be a good idea to wait. On the other hand, for me, I found by doing this study I also became more motivated to exercise. As was said, everyone is different - that's what makes the world go 'round emoticon God's blessings and continued success in all your efforts - whatever you decide to do! emoticon

Be a realistic optimist. Your attitude toward the future will help create your future. So, think realistically about yourself and your situation while making a conscious effort to focus on hopes, not fears. When you do, you'll put the self-fulfilling prophecy to work for you.

Blessed evening all,

I hope you all had a good day. I love my lazy breaks. They keep me sane. The Lords Table bible study is a walk with the Lord thru fasting all day, partial days and eating certain things on certain days all with scriptures and etc. I tried it but wasn't real successful. My friend does it and looks fabulous, she said she didn't have any trouble. Difference in folks, God's way to keep us from getting bored. Good luck if you try it, there is a website, also. The site is: www.settingcaptivesfree.com/lords_table/

Have a nice evening you all and I will keep you in my prayers.

Good evening everyone, It has been such a busy weekend. We are getting rid of a bunch of stuff and going through years of accumalation. The Salvation Army truck is coming first thing in the morning to pick it all up. We have at least a truckload if not more. I am in the mode to get rid of all the excess stuff and simplify our house. I am in the mindset of "Less is better."

I hope everyone had a good weekend and I will talk to you all tomorrow.

Blessings,

Good evening everyone, I am so glad to see you all. I hope you had a good Friday. We have had a busy week here. I went back to the doctor today for my blood pressure and I have to stay on this new medicine for at least 6 more months. He will re-evalute me in December. My pressure was back to normal and I had lost 4 lbs in 6 weeks. So it was a good visit.

Do you all have a big weekend planned? My hubby has made us a list of things to do, so I will try to get on here for quick posts when I can. We are cleanning out our garage and basement. I have Salvation Army coming Monday to pick up alot of stuff.

God's blessing to you all for a safe and healthy weekend.

Blessings,
Becky

Thanks for the greetings, Jo and Becky! It's hard to believe but I've followed my eating plan for 2 days. It may not sound like much, but it has taken some serious planning and focus! One day at a time, right?
Desertdarling - I am right there with you on the marathon snacking after dinner! I literally am having to find things to do to keep my mind off of it(like posting messages here.) ;)

God Bless,
Sarah emoticon

Hi, EG emoticon Don't feel badly about your "lazy break"! I just got back from one of those myself. I know exactly what you mean: I also didn't want to eat right or exercise but I really didn't know why. Believe it or not, tracking my food wasn't my problem - even through this period. I would faithfully track all day long, but every evening I'd go into this "marathon snacking" that started immediately after the last fork full of dinner went into my mouth, and didn't stop until I went to bed. SP has been an enormous source of support and encouragement for me, but I decided I needed to do a little more because I felt I just wasn't letting The Lord in and giving my situation over to Him. I was still stuck in the ongoing cycle of buying all the latest diet books, joining exercise classes and then not going, etc. etc. As if I had the power to make the changes I needed to make, without His help. So, I decided to do The Lord's Table Bible study. I had started this once before (over a year ago) and got about 1/4 way through the 60 day course, and just stopped. So now I'm giving it some honest effort and hopefully I will succeed this time. I've come to the conclusion that the devil works very hard at trying to keep me discouraged and stuck on this "diet" merry-go-round. I refuse to give him that foothold. Stay strong EG and remember the words of The Lord are far sweeter than honey! God Bless. emoticon

I'm back after a couple of weeks of a "lazy break". more like 3 wks. I don't know why but I just did not want to work out or eat right. Needless to say I gained back the weight I lost. But last night I got off my lazy butt and got up and did an aerobic workout. Today I went back to logging in my foods and also drinking my water. NO MORE "LAZY BREAKS"!

emoticon Sarah, It is nice to see you. I pray this will help you in every way possible.

Jo - Hello and good to see you also. Sorry I wasn't on yesterday, I was at the park on a playdate all day. Then when I got home I had two little boys that needed bathed, feed and put to bed. They were so wore out. I don't think they moved all night. They were still laying the same way this morning as they were when I tucked them in last night. They are still sluggish today. Good for me, lol.

DesertDarling - Welcome aboard. I stand firm on the knowledge that I can't do a thing without Jesus in my life. I am everything in Him. My problem is making sure I am listening correctly. My weight bloomed up around 1999 when I lost a child when I was 5 months along then was pregnant again in 11 weeks, confined to bed from 4 1/2 months along until I had him. He and I both about lost our lives the day he was born, if God hadn't sent an angel by way of our anesthitist who made my doctor do an emergency c-section we both would have been dead within 10 minutes. It took along time for my body to heal from the trauma and more bedrest for 3 months. Needless to say the weight is still here with me everyday. UCK!!! :(

I need to finish a my housecleaning then I will get back on and chat some more.

Have an awesome day Everyone,
Becky

Hi, Everyone! I have been trying to lose the same 35 pounds for the last decade. That statement alone tells the tale. If I had REALLY been trying to lose it, it would be gone by now. No, friends, I have finally faced the grim fact that I have not really been trying. I've been playing around with diets, exercise, and trying to be in control. I've recently had the truth revealed to me when the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. I realized that while I have given everything else in my life to Jesus, my compulsive evening snacking is the one thing I've been trying to control on my own. That just doesn't work. I've joined this team because I firmly believe "I CAN do all things through Christ!" That also says to me that without Christ, I cannot do this: lose the weight. I've started the Lord's Table study, and I've asked Jesus Christ to take this burden from me by feeding me with His words of life. I also believe that God puts people into our lives for encouragement and support - I hope we will all be that to each other. As Believers, we will be a family for eternity. We can begin helping each other right here, right now, on this earth! God bless each and every one of you and I look forward to sharing this glorius journey with all of you - for His Glory! emoticon

Welcome to the team. I've been in for about a week and I am still learning. I need to lose quite a bit myself. Looking forward to chatting with you and others. Good luck on your journey..

Hi there,

This is my first day using SP, and I'm hoping to meet other believers who need to lose a significant amount of weight. Best wishes to everyone!

I will check back again tomorrow to see if anyone is on here.

Blessed day to everybody. I hope that you all had a great weekend. A belated Happy Father's Day to all. The kids and I treated my hubby to a movie and dinner. Our oldest daughter and her family joined us at Logan's Steakhouse. We all had a good time. It was to hot to go fishing or anything else.

I stayed within my calorie range and ate healthy at Logan's. We went for a walk around the mall afterwards, so I got my cardio in also.

Have a great day, emoticon

emoticon Hello Becky!!! It is nice to meet you. I hope this takes off too. It takes us all working together. My lowest weight was 127 when I was 18 yrs old and a senior in high school. After my first two kids I lost all my weight and got back down to 138 to 145. I really put on a bulk of mine in the last 8 yrs. I had alot of female problems, stress and etc. Now it is time for me to get tough and get it back off.

I hope you have a good weekend and I will check back later.
Blessings,
Becky emoticon

Hello everyone - I was hoping we could have a place to come talk to each other everyday. This is the place to give and recieve inspiration. They have this type of discussion thread on several of the other teams I am on and it is a great way to meet, help, vent, praise or pray for each other. I hope you all will like it.

I am Becky from Southeast Missouri and I have struggled with my weight since my teenage years. I am hope to loose at least 5 lbs a month. It is the challenge I have given myself. My reward will be a relaxing bubble bath in our jacuzzi tub, uninterrupted by kids and hubby. I will come up with more rewards as time goes by. Any suggestions???

Blessings,
Becky emoticon
