probably right -- nothing else opened. Minnesota does not have any decent ethnic restaurants, Chinese, Italian or Scandinavian for that matter. Just have to grin and bear it

We haven't found a decent Chinese restaurant here in Tucson. I tried to convince DH that we should go for Indian food on Christmas, but he doesn't like curry. So we had our bagels that we bought - including a couple of red and green food dye bagels for Christmas!!!! I had turkey and pepper jack cheese on my red and green bagel.

(I asked for blue bagels for Chanukah - apparently the guy made them last year, but I guess they weren't best sellers since they didn't do it this year.)

I agree only ones open. I also went to the Chinese restaurant with a friend, however, we went to a movie first, the quintessential Jewish Christmas.

Went to my favorite Chinese restaurant for lunch yesterday with friends. I remember decades ago living in a big city and only Chinese restaurants were open on Xmas day. My favorite food so good to be Jewish.

so last night I went out for Chinese food with friends from one of my shuls. Can someone explain to me how and why the tradition of Jews eating Chinese on Christmas? not that I mind. Just never understood how it started
