Would it be tacky to respond to his more questionable tweets with something like:

Psalms 34:14
Psalms 52:2
Proverbs 15:4
Proverbs 21:23

etc? there's only like a couple hundred or more appropriate scriptures...

But... I think a donkey would be more responsive to the suggestions?

If talking about things one knows nothing about is a job requirement and you're baffled by it, maybe you're a candidate?! You'll be hired to talk about the nonsenseness of it all.

It really seems as if the only people he knows talk big about things they know nothing about - and then he hires them. Leaves me so baffled.

"How does Trump find so many morons and idiots??????"

You left out bozos.

I don't know how he finds them, but he does so easily. Finally, after being a weird kid, he's one of the kids.

Laurie, watercolor is a tempermental medium. Easy to overwork it. Acrylic can be covered up and you can re-do it. With watercolor, there is no do-over.

Painting studio was good, except for my frustration. I did more work on a sky I'd started a day or two earlier. Mind you, I was dissatisfied with the first round of work and thought I could improve it. No, I made it worse. Some day I'll learn when to stop and start afresh.

Aren't you glad you asked?

Sooooo, how was painting studio? I'm sure far more interesting than trying to psychoanalyze the leaders we have.

Times like this, I'm reminded of the "Fiddler on the Roof" - will have to paraphrase because I don't have things memorized...

"Rabbi, rabbi, is it possible to bless the Tzar?"

"Is it possible to bless the Tzar? Hmmmm May the Lord Bless the Tzar, and keep him far, far away from us!"

She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.

I saw something about the first slave ship arriving in 1619 and how it makes that year the start of this country's story. It had nothing to do with the Statue. Sorry that I can't say where I saw the item....Oh, wait a minute. It was today's email newsletter from "On the Media." I'll copy it in below.

It doesn't make sense to me that someone would think the Statue is specific to slavery or, as SAK wrote, slaves as we think of the word. The six lines from the Lazarus poem refer to haven for all the downtrodden. It was commissioned and written in the 1880s, years after slavery was abolished in the U.S., as a means to raise money to build a base for the statue. Unless the person who SAK refers to is refuting Trump's claim that the poem refers to Europeans only?
----------------

The OTM newsletter refers to the NYT:

"The 1619 Project:"
"'In August of 1619,' the New York Times Magazine writes in its upcoming edition, 'a ship appeared on this horizon, near Point Comfort, a coastal port in the British colony of Virginia. It carried more than 20 enslaved Africans, who were sold to the colonists.' Four centuries later, the Times marks the anniversary with a monumental collection of essays, poems and photography that 'aims to reframe the country's history, understanding 1619 as our true founding.' Its immediate subjects include capitalism, traffic, music, education and democracy itself. Start here."

The last nine words are hyperlinks which I think can't be made workable here.

Didn’t get a chance to read it, will have to look for it, but saw an article that said it (SOL) was supposed to be for slaves not all immigrants. Anyone see that? What do you think?

He is a man of letters. Indeed, he is capable of naming all 26 and in correct order to boot. But only if he intones them with the whining, nursery-rhyme, lullaby tune.

The first I knew of the Statue's role in the day's news came yesterday when a couple of people at the painting studio mentioned it. All they said was that he wants to change the inscription on the statue. In the name of self-preservation, I refrained from looking it up.

(Do you like the way I worked in "painting studio?" I'm a slick one.)

I don't think he wanted to replace it. He was just giving his ridiculous opinion that it just referred to European immigrants, adding his own interpretation of what the poem meant.

With talk of Trump and/or one of his chaps wanting to replace or revise "The New Colossus" on the Statue, it is no surprise that The New Yorker has something to say.
