I vaguely remember that ad, but have no idea what the medication was.

And Mark, great job on the cholesterol numbers!!! I know how hard it can be to get those numbers to go down!!!

You know how you get a song stuck in your head on a repeat loop. You can't remember part of the lyrics so it's "da da da" in that one phrase that you can't remember, over and over ... That cholesterol ad is doing that to me. It's on automatic and continuous replay and I can't fill in the meds name!

I remember the mashed potatoes ... the hairdo was the color and shape of one of the swirly scoops of potatoes you could get from a diner, kind of like the look of a soft-serve ice cream. Lots of other foods and coordinated-look relatives. It's got to be on YouTube. But "ask your doctor about da da da" won't get me there!

No clue on that ad... and maybe I should know because my mom insists on taking a cholesterol drug instead of exercising.

But great job on your lab results, @BOSS61 Mark!

I think I'd be more worried if my rear end looked like a plate of mashed potatoes, rather than the color of my hair??

Laurie and others, on my gym-rattiness (non-summer mode):

75 minutes, about 5 days a week. Half that time on cardio every day, but on different equipment on different days. The other half the time switches back and forth between weights (different pieces of equipment, again) and the pool.

Summer is all different. Maybe one or two days less a week, but add most every evening for more pool.

Ah the great cholesterol myth- change your diet and get great numbers. Not so. It will help but most is made in your body. Doing what you are Mark is the best-exercise. Any kind. Good for you with your numbers and taking care of yourself!!

Impressive! Good work on those numbers, Mark.

I know somebody will remember. There was a tv ad showing the genetic link to high cholesterol versus food choices. The relatives look like food. For example, the voice would say your Aunt Mary ... and Aunt Mary has white hair that looks just like the plate of mashed potatoes. What was the cholesterol-lowering med on that old ad?

Didn't know you're in the gym. Good for that. Even better for the lower cholesterol numbers.

My new employer believes in wellness. Once a year, in order to qualify for a humongous discount in health insurance premiums, we go to the lab for a confidential screening. The employer does not get the results, but our internists do (assuming we have one and I do).

I like blood work about as much as I like Kelly Anne Conway. This notwithstanding, the results are in. Lo and behold, I dropped 60 cholesterol points over the last 9 months. My "bad" cholesterol is down 70. Seriously. I am now firmly ensconced in the "good" range once again. No meds.

My secret: wasting less time kibitzing on the social media side of Spark. And oh yeah - the gym. But this you knew.
