That looks great James, I tried Chia pudding once, several years ago, and could not do it. BUT it is certainly worth another try. I make an overnight oats, flax, and chia with Cashew milk that I like, so I think I should try the strait chia again

I've been making a dessert from soy milk and chia seeds. You can really use any kind of milk you like, regular cow milk, or soy milk, or almond milk ...

About a tablespoon per quarter cup. As the recipe says, mix the seeds and milk, let sit for a few minutes and some separation occurs, but it starts to thicken in say 5 minutes, ... stir again before putting in the fridge.

I don't put a lot of fruit in it, like in the picture, but I put bits of stuff that I think will be good, a little stevia, maybe some Mio (a water flavouring), maybe just a little fruit in small bits mixed in.

It doesn't take long in the fridge, as it says about 2 hours. It's my favourite dessert these days.

Tempting, but I have SO many appliances around her, I have them stored in my basement when I am not using them! Karen does not want to sell her yogurt maker to me, even though she has not used it in seven years, so I will have to research for the POT or a yogurt maker..

Well that is the lazy way to make it, the other way you do not leave unattended, and wisk like crazy, but it is good!
But really you should think about an instant pot ;) a 6 quart with Yogurt option is a fantastic reward for hitting your next goal!

The Lemon curd is a topping FOR yogurt, not made from yogurt. For the lemon one I used a recipe from "This Old Gal" it is for the Instant pot, uses sugar and butter...not so diet friendly, but for mine I use just a small spoon on my yogurt. For the raspberry one I crushed and strained raspberries and added lemon juice and used the same recipe pretty much

How do you make lemon or raspberry curd from yogurt?
I added vanilla and 2 T. sugar, I ran out of agave nectar. It is sweeter than Greek but more tart than regular after 8 1/2 hours cooking. It is a little thinner than I would like, but tastes great!

Thank you for making those masks.

I make Yogurt every week or so, I use my Instant Pot to make it, I strain it so it is super thick, then add a little vanilla and honey, very lightly flavored. I also make lemon curd or raspberry lemon curd in the Instant pot for topping for my husband. I use 2 tsps for flavoring for me, if any. Most often some fresh berries.

I am still working at the office, we are in transportation and shipping (Professional Movers) and although WA state is on a Shelter in Place, we are considered essential services. Doing things differently, and racking up a lot on non billable labor hours for my crew in sanitizing equipment and trucks before and after each job, but they are able to work, and our customers have real estate contracts and new jobs depending on their move happening as planned. I do anticipate things will slow down in the next few weeks though, as our moves are usually scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance.

I have not seen my grandson in about a month, I am not handling that very well. Going to set up a basket for him and deliver to his front yard this weekend. Pizza crust dough, sauce, pepperoni, olives and cheese so he can make pizza with his mom like he gets to at my house. And I made him a quilt a few weeks ago that he has not gotten yet, and of course some sticker books, legos, and snacks to keep a 4 year old busy.

Also staying busy in the evenings making cloth face masks, my daughter works at a hospital in the mental and detox ward, they do not have masks for those care givers in that ward! and a local nursing home by my office has 2 confirmed cases and they do not have masks! They can insert filters into these, it doesnt replace a surgical mask but it is better than not wearing anything.

It was a boredom joke.. Are you reduced to counting things like that yet? I am not. I took my camera outside yesterday at dawn. It snowed last night, so no outdoor walking for me.. not with a cane, it is too dangerous. I can always find ways to move indoors if I need to do so.

I live on an acreage. Its in the prairies, but its actually quite hilly and covered in pine trees. Soil was bad for growing wheat (too much sand underneath) so the farmers of the last 200 or so years just ignored the area, and the pine old pine trees are still there.

It's like the mountains. So it's my emotional sanctuary.

I've looked at the numbers of current growth rate of infection of coronavirus. It grows on average by 10% per day in the world, doubling every week, and will cover the planet in about 12 weeks. In the USA the growth rate is much faster, it grows by 40% a day, doubling in just over 2 days, and will cover the country in about 7 weeks.

Many people will get sick at home, and get better. Yes the mortality rate is much higher than a normal flu, and its going to be scary.

I am in WA state, where the first death occurred, from someone traveling back from China. We are at 74 deaths now I believe, over 1200 documented cases, I expect the documented cases to climb drastically since they have really escalated the testing.
My physician said actual cases, if they had been able to be confirmed, would most likely be in the 10s of thousands, since many people get this and their body fights it off immediately, thinking it was just a chest cold of sorts.
Crazy times we are in right now, stuff movies are made of...literally
Stay safe all!
For me, I am going for a walk tomorrow, mental and physical health day for me. May not be long, but it will be impact-full I am sure

How is everyone's stress level right now? Are you taking care of yourself? Are you talking to someone about fears, anxiety etc? Even if you cannot get out and see a person, it is important to connect. At least by telephone, better yet video chat.....community is important!

For me, I am still working daily, although WA state is encouraged to stay home my office is considered an essential service. Even is we go to a 'shelter in place' status I still go to work. my husband is grounded to the house, he is able to work a little from home, but health wise is still not doing great so he is not even working much.

I miss my kids and grandson though!

Finally some good news. A1C in September was 9.6 Started on Metformin, as well as BP medication and cholesterol med
November my cholesterol was great, and A1c was at 7.9
December I started Buydureon and Jardiance, and cut out one of my BP meds
Today my A1c is at 6.4

Dr is very happy with that and weight. And I am very proud of myself quite frankly. Will keep all meds as they are right now, IF my A1c is down to 5.5 or lower he might take me off of Metformin and see how it does for another 3 months.

Whenever it comes to blood sugar, or weight loss, or health in general I think this quote from a famous ancient Chinese general applies:

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles."

- Sun Tsu, in "The Art of War" written about 2500 years ago.

When my teeth hurt, I had no idea why. Of course I'm going to push and prod them when they hurt. That is when I got a molar with 2 fingers, pushed and wiggled, and I thought .. this seems to move a little more than it ought to, or am I just imagining that ...

After the vitamin D, pain gone in a few days, I decided to try to wiggle the same tooth ... just seemed to wiggle less than before, or was I imagining that too. Either way the dental pain was certainly gone, no doubt about that.

Enough about teeth.

I just noticed by chance that when I started taking some vitamin D supplements, ordinary therapeutic stuff that you can buy at a drug store, that my teeth felt better in a few days, and when I checked later they felt firmer in place to my fingers when grabbing them and trying to wiggle them.

Just guessing that in my case, when my vitamin D is low the bones in my body that soften up are in the jaw. It's weird, ... but what really matters to me is that I know what to do, ... just by chance.

Wow, James.. I have never had that tooth thing happen,, yet. I live in Mid-Michigan and cherish the sunlight like you do..
Most of my Rx meds leech some things from my system, but my supplements help a lot. Vit D being one of them. My doc orders bloodwork testing for it too.
I force myself to go outside and walk around with bare face and arms even in cold weather sometimes. If frostbite will be an issue, no way..
Thanks for that tidbit: I will have to be more aware of my teeth.

ANNETTENANA,
when my vitamin D gets low some of my teeth start to hurt. Initially this worried me a lot as I didn't know what the cause was.

I can even grab a soy tooth tooth with two fingers and wiggle it right and left a little, ... the bone underneath in my jaw is softening, ... that is what I figure. I take vitamin D, and I feel OK about 2 days later. I just have to keep remembering to take a "therapeutic" dose of vitamin D regularly.

No more pain in my teeth, and they don't wiggle like before.

Crazy, crazy life. I live pretty far North as I'm in Canada, and there is less sunlight in winter. Normally sunshine's interaction with skin generates vitamin D somehow, but living as far north as I do, I think the doctors suggest supplements.

I never walk barefoot, wear slippers, use Minagin or Nojmuk ointment on my feet twice daily. I take a great senior multi-vit, have no thyroid issues. The diabetes is a major factor, as we are very prone to much dryer skin.
The Nojmuk is healing it twice as fast as anything else. It just happened to peel off as a deep slit in the middle.

I drink a minimum of 64 oz of brita water every day, so hydration is not an issue.

I have had the issue many times, it is horribly uncomfortable. I know that when I started adding a good quality multivitamin my feet stopped having this issue. Walking barefoot, even in the house, makes it worse, IF you can sleep with socks on there are a couple different options, coconut oil helps some people. For me I used O'Keeffees Foot Repair cream and it did help.
Common cause is vitamin deficiency, or hypothyroidism.

I agree with the Vit D. My doc has been monitoring mine too. When I was in the hospital in November, they were constantly doing labs to check it, like twice daily..
It is vital to working on my fibro and arthritis.
I agree with you on that!

Along with rehab, the levels were very important for me.

You are finally getting everything lined up in your body! Patience is the hardest part of the process, isn't it? You are doing great.

James,
12 weeks ago I started Jardiance and Buydureon. I discovered that it takes 6-10 weeks on average for the Buydureon to build up to a therapeutic level. My weight loss started right at the 10 week mark.
Nutrition wise I have been on 1200 calories a day 6 days a week, with one day a little higher, at about 1500. That is drastic for many, not healthy long term, but I need to get a bulk of this off quickly to even start to work out. When I incorporate working out I will increase that slightly. I have been tracking calories for the last 10 weeks. I have eaten primarily low carb (50-80 grms a day) for several months. So nutrition wise there has been no change.

Jardiance is a 'Sodium Glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor'....it helps kidneys remove glucose from bloodstream through urine.

Buydureon takes 6-10 weeks of the weekly injection, to get to a therapeutic level. essentially it helps the body release its own insuling, prevents the liver from making too much sugar when not needs, and slows down digestion sending sugar into the bloodstream slowly.

This cocktail, along with Metformin, Spironalactone, a blood pressure medication that I have cut in half about 6 weeks ago, and 10,000 IUs of D3 each day is finally starting to pay off. Inches are coming off with the current weight loss.

My systems has been messed up for over 15 years, once it crossed the line into Type 2 the doctor was able to give me medications that were not allowed while being at a 6.0 A1C---where I stayed for many years.

My D level plays an important factor too I believe. I have raised it from a 3 to 37, and still rising, needs to be 70-100. MUCH study on D over the last few years, by many professionals it is considered a hormone, not a vitamin. Personally, mine gets so low I cannot even hold a coffee cup in one hand, I get pain in all joints, and some weakness.....when I spill my coffee that is when I have had enough and get Drs help LOL

Be kind to yourself.

ANNETTENANA,
3/4 pound a day is clearly some sort of water weight. If you were cutting carbs, at the start of doing that you can loose about 5 pounds in a week or two, so not quite as fast as your current rate, but getting there.

What do you attribute your weight loss to right now? What changes in diet, or changes in medication have you made?

Best wishes for you husbands situation.

Im dropping 3/4 of a pound a day right now, I guess my medicine is finally getting sugar levels, and hormone levels in check and letting go of sound poundage. I know this wont last long, but I sure am enjoying it!
My husband was sent over to a Seattle hospital and they finally have some answers it sounds like, he will have to have stints in his carotid arteries, and possible neck surgery as well. BUT at least they have something they are working on. Hospital is 3 hours away, I did not go with him as we have our dogs, my work, and snow on the pass. He would be too stressed about all those things, but I will be going over for a surgery day sometime this week I imagine.

Be kind to yourself.
