To be honest I am not that much into the car shows. I enjoy the music much more :-). I hope that the scene will grow on the east coast. Well, not just in Boston and New York lol, but down south also. Would be nice, sigh.

Yeah, I do see a lot of Americana-centered culture in those southwestern regions (especially California) via social media--someone's gotta keep the love in the center of the country, too, huh?

I have some friends throughout WI but haven't made it up for a visit yet. Sounds like a fun place on so many levels.

There used to be a large weekender up in Green Bay years ago as well, that my friend Dave Wolf used to organize, but he lives in Austin now. I think he also helps organize Viva. You really find the majority of the car shows and weekenders out in the SW and West--TX, NM, AZ, NV, and CA seem to have the largest car cultures.

Hey, Laura--nice to see another Midwesterner on here. I'll be moving back to Kansas next month about six years of East Coast/currently international life. Hearing that these kinds of things are happening in the central US is encouraging :)

I've actually lived in both Texas (Austin) and Virginia (Reston), as well as here in Madison and Las Vegas. Texas by far had the best rockabilly/car scene, although Vegas was pretty good too. Virginia was pretty terrible, although there's a little going on up toward Baltimore...I know one of the car clubs up there had some First Friday or Second Saturday thing going on, plus the 9:30 Club often books some pretty good bands. If you like country at all, Hill Country Barbeque sometimes has good bands too. My friend Owen Temple has played there sometimes on tour, as well as my friend Casey, who plays with Lucky Tubb.

The scene here in Madison is not the greatest either, but there's sometimes things going on in Milwaukee, which isn't too far away. Chicago is better, but I hate the drive. I'm really looking forward to MM, it'll be nice to get away for a weekend and listen to good music, meet new friends, etc. It's a school weekend for me, but early enough in the semester that I think it will be okay. I had to cancel my Viva plans this year due to when it fell in the semester, along with some personal family issues.

Enjoy the Shake Up! Big Sandy always puts on a good show, and Mark Gamsjager does too. I've seen him both open for and back up Wanda Jackson a few times.

I linke The Bellfuries and The Modern Don Juans as well. I am also looking forward to Big Sandy and Jittery Jack.
Were more things going on in Texas? Here in Virginia is unfortunately not much going on :-(, so I am really looking forward to the Shake Up since that is within reasonable driving distance. I have heard about the Mississippi Mayhem, but that's unfortunately too far for me.

Unfortunately, it is a bit far for me, being located in the Midwest, but it looks like a great time! The Bellfuries and Modern Don Juans are fantastic--I used to see them all the time when I lived in Austin!

For any Bombshells in the Midwest, we also have a September weekender to look forward to:
Mississippi Mayhem!
