I've been off running for a couple of months, but have my annual 1/2 in late July, so it's time for me to kick it back in gear. This month is a goal of 50 miles and consistency!

I just ran first half marathon this year march 16th, in Moab, Utah. Good run. Now I am getting ready for my second in less than 11 weeks. I just ran 3 miles this morning. I follow the Hal Higdon training, it seems to work for me.

Got my race packet in the mail today for the Zooma Texas Half this Saturday. I'm pumped!

Did a 5 mile run yesterday and met my personal time goals. I'm thinking I really will finish before the 3 hour mark this year!

I'm getting back into training for the 3 races I have planned for later in the year. My knee was acting up but it appears fine now and I ran 5 miles yesterday before I felt any tightness. My the end of the month I plan to be at 7 miles for my long runs and 4 miles for my short ones. I'm pumped to be training again even though my race aren't for months emoticon

My goal is to keep running at least 40 miles a week including races and to build up the cycling mileage after a winter layoff. So far on track with a 20 mile challenge run on the 5th, a 28 mile bike ride on the 6th, a 4 mile race today, and my usual running workouts. I'm registered for a 5K race next Saturday and a 15K on Palm Sunday.

I need to work on cross training. The things I would do at home, like zumba, have too much impact, I think. I am tempted to join the rec center again for a month or so until after tax season and it stays lighter longer so I can use the elliptical or swim.

I did a 5k today! It was a training race for the half marathon I'm doing in May. I rocked it! I was just hoping to finish under 40 minutes, which is faster than I've ran it before (not in a race), and I finished in 37 minutes and 28 seconds. I had so much fun and was so glad I did it (even though I was dragging my feet the night before).

I decided to bag my March half-marathon in leiu of training for my first full marathon, happening at the end of April so for the month of February, I'll be training and increasing my long runs past distances I've run before. By the end of February, I should be up to a 15 mile long run.

I started training for my first half marathon on Monday. It definitely seems doable as I've ran a few shorter races before. The schedule looks like it might be a struggle as there's 3 days off a week but I know recovery is important so hopefully I'll stick with it...

I have a Half Marathon planned for February 17th in Jacksonville. I've been on a slow recovery process from an injured foot (stress facture? doc says "no", I say "yes") in November. I'm logging 20 miles a week and adding some weight training and eliptical (when I can't run). The January weather in Michigan is always a challenge.

This year I plan to race regularly. I will record my miles in my running log religiously. I will run the Great Lakes Relay again this summer and my goal is to average under 10 min/mile on my runs in that race (with my handicap for being over 60, that will be a sub 8 pace).

The idea to do a half marathon has just sort of struck me, but it's nice to see others are in the same boat as me! my longest run is an 8 mile, which wasn't really a problem, so I think by the spring I could probably do a half! I run between 3-6 miles almost everyday. Is this too much? Too little? I plan to do a long run on sundays now, starting at 8 and building up to 14 to be safe. I'm new to half marathon training so advice is appreciated!

I'm starting training for my second half marathon (Celebrate Life Half on March 10th). I've maintained about an 8 mile long run so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm enjoying 2-3 short runs a week, still trying to get outside even though it's cold, snowy, and usually dark. One 8 mile run on the weekend still feels challenging. I'll start training for my first full later this year.

I'm started week 2 of my half-marathon training this week. My first half is the Rock 'n' Roll in DC on March 16th. My longest run to date has been 8 miles (which I don't hit on the schedule until the end of the month). I'm looking forward to hitting the new distances on the training plan. My ultimate goal is to run the whole thing, but we'll see how the training goes. :)

Hi Everyone! I am new to this group and have never run a half marathon. I did begin training on Tuesday though. I have a fabulous app on my phone called runkeeper and it gives me a program to follow depending on the goal I choose. My goal is half marathon to finish. I am not running for time but for completion it is my personal goal to jog the whole thing! I know I can I just finished my first 5K on Thanksgiving something I never thought I could do! So this month is the first month of a four month training for the half marathon although i wont run my half until October at the Hartford Marathon in CT. I am super excited and I'm sure I will find other smaller runs along the way! Any support would be great!! emoticon

My time for the half marathon was 1:48:37, and the time some web site calculator thingy predicted I would get based on my last 10K race was almost identical (1:48:27), so I was pretty stoked! Aside from a bit of lactic acid soreness lingering in my quads, I seem to have survived it just fine, but those last couple of miles were definitely less pleasant than I would have liked.

Just finished my first half-marathon a few hours ago and it went well. Managed to stick close to my predicted finish time despite some nasty 18-19 mph headwinds during the last few miles (ouch!). I thank sticking close to my training plan for getting through it with only a little misery. Now my plan is to keep running my 4-5 days a week through the holidays and figure out what race I want to tackle next.

I have a 5K walk tomorrow morning and a 10K walk Saturday morning, the 24th.
No half marathons this month :( I do plan on practicing and working my way up to at least attempt a half marathon in the new year!
