Our thoughts are with you Shari. emoticon

I am doing great. I have been recommitted to my weight loss when school started six weeks ago. I am down almost 25 pounds in that time. Making nearly 85 pounds in the last four years. It is one of the slowest weight losses I have experienced in my life, but also the only time I have ever kept weight off for a significant amount of time.

What doesn''t kill you makes you stronger.

I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner to this post...I've been too wrapped up in my own pitiful little problems to reach out to the world. You've put me back in perspective....Love you !!!!

Friday, I officially got enrolled in in-home hospice. This does not mean I am bedridden, or housebound. They can do many things to make my life easier, including having my meds delivered to me, and they come to my house to do the blood draws to check my weekly blood counts. To start with, I'll have visits from a nurse once per week, but they will come more often if I need them too.

I won't be seeing my oncologist anymore for regular visits, but hospice will arrange for me to see him if they feel I need to see him for something. He gave me a big hug at the end of my appointment Friday; I think that's got to be one of the hardest parts of his job, when the cancer progresses to the point where there is nothing more he can do.

I had a blood transfusion yesterday too; it made for a long day, but I am already feeling better from it. Hopefully it will keep my energy at a decent level for at least a couple of weeks.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, I am now in hospice care for metastatic breast cancer, but I'm not letting cancer stop me from Sparking!

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

Hi Class of 2006! I'm so glad to see that there are still some of us around for this team. I am resetting and looking for activity on my old teams. I had gotten down to a good weight for myself and maintained it for 2 years circa ,'07-'09. Then I managed to gain back 20 so while I was still "comfortable" I wasn't especially happy with myself. I had one or two false starts on the road to losing that 20 again. The real surprise came this year when in the interest of saving time (so pretty much out of necessity) I started eating meal replacement bars for lunch. Since February and over the following months I lost roughly 15 pounds! Naturally I want to keep that off and maybe lose another 10 pounds. That's where I'm at today and I hope we can support each other in our goals because SparkPeople rock!
