My library is sponsoring an adult winter reading challenge that began in early January and goes until late February. The theme is "It's a Brand New Year." Participants are issued game cards that look a bit like a bingo card. There are 9 or so squares. For each square completed, the participant receives a raffle ticket for some great prizes! Most of the squares are for books read - read a book with "new" in the title, read a book by a "New" York author, read a "new" to you author, etc. One is for a film with "new" in the title and another for attending an adult activity at the library. It's a fun program and a good remedy for any winter doldrums!

Walked to the library today to pick up "Churchill's Trial." It was a cold walk.
@ MOMWANTSNOWAIST A small library must be hard. Can they borrow from other libraries for you?

We too practically lived at the library as we were there so much !On a visit there , we would start with the storybooks, move on to the Juvenile section for animal stories and factual informative books. Then, we would get to play board games there ,too, like chess or Tell A Story. We enjpyed the Summer Reading programs~we even got them to change the ages {from 4-11} one year because my 2 and 1/2 yr.old son wanted to participate and couldn't! Once he read one of the LIBRARIAN's books, they changed the criteria to include everyone all the way down to babies because you can read TO them. We used to go to all the finales and outdoor activities the library would have for Arbor Day and Back to School . Our library even won a National Merit Award in 2013! Then I retired along with my hubby this year and we moved across the country. We have a small library,but it is nice nonetheless. It does however, get frustrating when you have read all the books they have on one subject.

In God my heart trusts. ----Proverbs 28:7

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

KNOW that the LORD is GOD.It is HE who made us,And we are HIS;
We are HIS people,
The sheep of HIS pasture.

I read from my Nook so I don't get to the library as often as I used to. I download my books from the library and always have at least 3 on hold while I have the four I am reading on my Nook. I have actually purchased several books for my Nook and reread them often. I love a great story.

But I have to say, that I have a few special books that I have purchased in Hardback copies because there is nothing like the feel of a book in your lap on a quiet day.

While on vacation 2 years ago, my Nook "glitched" and I could not pull up my books. It was 11:30pm at night and we were on our way home. I had my husband pull over at McDonalds and go through the drive thru to get me coffee and he and my son some snacks. By the time he made it through the drive thru, I had deleted the "glitched" books from my Nook, gone to the library website and re-downloaded them thru the McD's Wi-Fi and was happily reading again and sipping coffee when we got back on the interstate. I LUV my Nook!

When my kids were younger, we practically lived emoticon at the library. Now that they are older, we still go once to twice a week, but now we are just checking out books and movies.
We don't have anyone come for signings, but hey, that's ok that got that inter library exchange now, and I'm lovin' it!

My whole family does the summer reading programs. I LOVE our reference librarians! They are so knowledgeable and friendly! In February, the library has a "blind date with a book." They wrap up books and put a general description on the outside, along with the barcode for checking out. I took a book wrapped up for the first time this year. It was a great choice! Super cool idea!

I teach knitting on the third Saturday of the month at our local library, attend the book club on the second Tuesday and sort donated books each Tuesday to send to our Friends of the Library group. I love our library so am there often.

I used to LIVE at the library as a kid/teen. Literally. My mom was a librarian and there were days I didn't leave from opening until closing. emoticon I even got locked in a couple times. lol. (Fire safety doors; you can always get out.)

But since being a military wife I seem to just buy my books and the ones for the kids. I took them to story time in Arizona and got myself some audio books there. But our libraries on the bases usually are inadequate, though we have been mostly at smaller bases.
