I am headed to the fitness center too. I need to work off what I ate yesterday.

Rain, rain go AWAY.....it has been so gloomy here that I am starting to get that seasonal depression thing......no sun, no energy.....lots of rain. Over 6 inches in the past two weeks and they are predicting more. I need to go to the gym to get some good endorphins flowing.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I went to the harbor to visit my mom and dad - took my daughter and her baby along. We weeded my mom's garden for her on Saturday and got rid of all the dandelions - I took my mom out to the Casino on Saturday - but we just donated. So, took one more trip out there and I retrieved my donation plus some!
Made it home before dark - my husband missed me and the baby and of course my daughter too.

The weather was great - we saw some sun - had a great weekend. Didn't over indulge too much.

Now today it's back to work!

My future depends on the choices I make today.

Hi Everyone I had a real shocker yesterday, my middle child (DQ) made breakfast for the family, (minus son, and then her and the oldest made dinner. I get to clean up the mess today. and my kitchen is TRASHED.
Oh well it is the thought that counts.

Thanks for al the happy day wishes. I did enjoy the day - talked to eldest DD until the phone battery signaled it was dying. That happened just as a call interrupted - second DD. So I changed phones and talked until that one died. Free calls still have limits...LOL It is always good to talk to them. That is our usual Sunday routine. We spend the evening with my mom and siblings plus spouses. My brother's youngest DD has a birthday the 11th, so we always celebrate her day along with MD. It was good to see her home from college. All in all, it was a wonderful day with cool temps, a slight breeze and then rain overnight.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday. Back to the fitness center after lunch.

I just wanted you to know that I started the tote this weekend. I haven't picked up a pair of needles since last winter. (Shock) It has been very relaxing, which I needed since I've been doing all this exercising and such.

Knit on Deb!! You can do it!

Sounds like a wonderful Mother's day!

I had a nice one as well, my dds made my coffee this a.m. - then off to church (they sang with the choir for 2 services!). Home, they made lunch. Off to play practice where I tinked back on my sock, I didn't like the toe, so I'm going to do the alternate toe. Home, loaded up the bikes on my new bike rack (My Mother's day gift from both dd's) and went for a 30 min bike ride. Home for dinner which they both made. My cousin's son dropped his car off (we store it here since he attends the local university and parking is outrageous!) and I drove him home. Got home .. my girls cleaned up the kitchen, called my Mom .. I'm done!! whew!

Happy Mothers Day to all--heard from #1 son all is well and still in the St. Louis area-didn't get blown away ,still waiting on #2 from Dallas. spend the day at mom in laws house-missed the trip to Chinese for lunch(yahoo!) had icecream cake and small piece of regular cake, cleaned up her yard for spring, planted our new roses here, and stopped at BK for dinner-which we spent with our favorite legged daughter(Dog)!
Thanks Varina for the encouraging words, as I have started my graduation afghan-2 weeks to finish it!!

Hello and welcome to the team Sarah and Hoppy. Glad you joined us.
Hope everyone has a great Mother's Day. DH and I are going out for dinner a bit later. Last night we went to our oldest son's for our Grandson's 21st birthday party. That's #3 who is now of legal drinking age in NY. Today our youngest son and family visited for awhile before heading back to the Albany area and home.
Bye bye for now.

Diane

Oh boy, I know that feeling! Went on a roadtrip the other day. Brought my fingerless gloves I'm working on. Discovered I only brought 3 needles, but forgot the 4th. So, just stuffed it back in the bag & watched the scenery.
My husband & I don't watch TV anymore, except for a bit of news in the morning. We've been listening to books on CD. He sits there with his eyes closed & I sit & knit. The characters come to life when they're being read to us.
We're out in the yard today, getting it ready for Summer. Sure hope we don't have a bad fire season here in Paradise like last year! Tears come to my eyes as I see the fires in Santa Barbara. Deja vu.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Hi all,
My foot is still really sore. But the x-rays showed no broken bones (thank goodness), it seems the way I pronate when I walk and the way I had my walking shoes laced was the problem.
I have really high instep and so I need to not lace across the highest spot. He also added some cork stuff to build up one side of my orthotics.
Geesh - getting old is not for sissies!!
I tried to walk a little yesterday (with the new feel of the orthotics I got cramps in my toes),
so I'll have to see how this goes.
I need to go back to the doc in 6 weeks - sooner if not better.
Happy Mothers' Day to all.
Fesy

Julia, I just joined Curves myself. It's kind of embarrassing right now, because I can barely do a third of it (and only the upper body). But I'm hanging in there.

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Mother's Day to you all! We traveled to see MIL yesterday and I got a lot done on the shawl. Knitting is one of the few things I can do in the car! I also worked on the socks but discovered I forgot the pattern. So I had to wait until we got home to figure it out. No use trying to be sociable while working to figure something out... Tonight we get together with my family for a birthday/Mother's Day celebration. Should be fun if I can not eat too much!

Everyone enjoy the day!

Hello all. You have inspired me to get knitting again. I am making a sweater for the newly arrived Callum David. I also found a really lovely ball of wool but alas there was only one so I made a scarf for myself. I love the Knitty link and besides all that I have lost six pounds over the month. Thanks for all the support.

do not feel bad- CURVES is too hard to start out- I think, I tried it on a freebie- did not sign up, I also am worried about sanitation, as people are switching equipment- most are not washing before or after.. in the gyms you wipe your hands and equipment before and after you use it.. if you had pain you need to do something else to start- in my opinion. Hugs and Happy Moms Day tomorrow.. don't worry be happy !!

Sorry I've been AWOL. I've had a nutjob week at work, but thank God I got off early today (and still the boss found several things 15 minutes before I left that "had to be done before I left.").

HOPPY - Welcome and hang in there. It is a long process but you can do it! Set reasonable short and long goals and you will be surprised.

SARAH - I admire your tenasity! The older you get the more difficult learning is. I found that when I went back to school at about your age. Those youngsters just breeze through texts and never seem to struggle. Me, on the other hand, being a hands-on-learner, struggle. I always did well (finished 8th in a class of 20) and knew well what I had learned. So, it pays off, but it is difficult. You can make it, plenty of us did!
We have friends in KY, in Paris, where are you in relation to that town? KY is such a great place and if I didn't live in NC, that is one of the places I would love to be!

Hope everyone has a great day. I'm off today but have ton of errands and the fitness center this afternoon. Working has cut into my exercise and I am creeping back up on the scales. NOT GOOD!

Take care.

I've been yo-yoing for a year now, but I'm back to try again. I got up to a high of 281, but am down to 266 as of today. I'm going to hang in there, so think of me and pray for my willpower, please. God bless you all.

Hi! I joined the forum a while ago, but don't think I ever posted. I have been very busy with nursing school - which at 43 can seriously wear you out! Now that I am only taking two summer courses (one at a time), I want, no I need, to get back to eating healthy. I want to establish healthy habits before we start nursing classes again in the fall so they are habits and not a stress. I am excited about finding knitters here.

We have a farm in central Kentucky with sheep (and many other things). I spin and knit mostly with that yarn, although it doesn't take much to catch my eye where yarn and fabric are concerned :)

Just thought I'd say hi :)

Hi All,
Not doing any knitting this week - maybe I'll do a dishrag tonight - just to get my needles going.
I still have an injured foot. It hurts to have a shoe on, so I have appt with dr. tomorrow - I hope it is not a stress fracture or anything long term.
I love to walk and try to take a walk everyday for my sanity.
I miss it.

Hello everyone and Happy Thursday! I had some fun last night shopping for my Pal, got it sent out today. YAY! I have had a hard time finding my motivation lately. I sort of feel like I've given up on myself, and that is NOT a good feeling.

I think I also have a shawl on some needles somewhere...maybe I should find it. that would change my goals for this month a little...to finish off all of my UFO's and to lose 10 lbs. I think I can do it!

Hello everyone.
Welcome to the team Sassy.
Zipknitter, Sorry about the medical insurance ordeal. That's the worst. I would hate not having insurance. You never know when you might need it. You are in my prayers.
DH and I just returned from our mini vacation to Atlantic City. We had a great time but didn't win anything. I didn't meet any of my daily goals while we were gone. I did try to drink some water and eat my fruits/veggies. After that it was all down hill.
I haven't done any knitting. I just don't seem to have time for much more than going through my Spark emails.
Have a great Thursday everyone.

Diane

Just finished a plain shawl, but started new ones today, belong to a group for people to test knit designs. There are about 2 dozen of them being worked on by the group. So, will be alternating between them all and hope to have them all finished before the end of the world whenever that might be.
I am really stressed right now & need to keep my hands busy or will scream. Just transferred from SSI to Soc Sec because DH applied for his. After waiting for it to go into effect for 3 months, my caseworker tells me today that there is no longer any program in this state for me to continue with medical coverage so am totally without insurance or Medicaid now and will have to wait till we both hit 65 to get medicare. That means my thumb surgery, knee replacement and abdominal surgery planned for this summer all have to wait. My hand and knee are killing me.I just want to cry. Wish they had told me months ago that this would happen so the surgeries could have been moved up,but they assured me I would still be eligible because I am disabled.
Sorry to vent, but had to talk to someone, even if you aren't here with me.

I dream of mountain climbing, going hunting and fishing with the kids, then I wake up.

What fun!! I went to the SAFF event in Fletcher, NC last year and plan to go back this next year. Nothing like heaven on Earth to lift the soul!

It is still raining and it is wonderful!! I don't like the lightning, but it comes as a package deal. I'll not complain. We are catching up with over 2" in about as many days. Yeah!!!

Have a good evening. I am working tomorrow, so it will be a busy one.

Hello Sassy and welcome to the team.

Stitch - I told you I would get you my shawl pattern.
Sorry it has taken me so long.
Cast on 60 stitches - I am using needles size 13.
Then you K3 P3 until you reach the length that you want. I have made 3 of these as gifts and one for myself. I love how easy it is.

How many of us are working on shawls right now??? I am working on a snuggley one made from homespun. I seem to have a love/hate relationship with this yarn. It is so soft and feels great, but it is a royal apin to knit with. time to go torture myself at curves

Funny story! I can see that happening! There is something about animals and balls of yarn - I guess it goes for little people too...LOL

We have had almost 2" of rain over the past 48 hours. It feels so good outside - cool and lush. The plants are almost growing while you watch.. My garden certainly looks more perky!

Have a wonderful day.

Off to the fitness center before lunch with a friend who needs a start on cross stitch, then knitting circle.

Sunday morning I sat knitting in the living room. The chocolate lab lay nearby snoozing. I tugged on my yarn and it rolled out of the bag and onto the floor. Carley's head came up like a shot.

I pounced on the yarn and said to her, "Do NOT even think about it! No way are you slobbering all over my $13 a ball Irish tweed yarn, kiddo."

She was bummed.

CINNIE - I am working on a shawl now that isn't really too difficult if you understand the concepts of yarn over and knit 2 together. It has a 4-row repeat and goes pretty fast even if it does use #8 needles. I have a long way to go but at least I feel like I have the pattern memorized and can figure when I make a mistake. I'll be glad to share it if you like.

Cinniemay, I've recommended this one to several people:

You may have to be signed up with Lionbrand to open this but it is free and they only send you newsletters if you check the box. Personally, I love the newsletters if for now other reason that getting the Maxine cartoons;O)

If you are on Ravelry, you can search the pattern database and find TONS.

Well, got through all the stuff over the weekend and then a rough day not smoking yesterday. Maybe things will ease up a little now! LOL! Got my secret pal assignment today so lots of ideas running through this feeble little brain! Maybe I can even get to some of the boot camp stuff - don't know what ever in the world I was thinking of when I did that! emoticon

Happy Cinco De Mayo...that is if you celebrate it!

I'm afraid that I fell off the wagon for about 3 months but I'm back on the wagon now. Doctor yelled at me last week (again) so back to WW's I went. Lost 2.6 lbs from Saturday morning to Monday night.

My goal for May is to finish and keep plugging on all the yarn that my daughter has managed to add to my stash in the past month. I'm on the first sleeve of my sweater of many dye lots...this one is for me...and it's about time too!!!

Happy Cinco De Mayo and Mother's Day Everyone!

I really need to get back to my knitting. It has unfortunately taken a back seat to Scouts, work, and my sister's bridal shower. I have 2 UFO's and I think I could finish those by the end of this month.

Keep up the good work everyone! emoticon
