Linda, I checked out your recipes and will be trying some. The chaffle is the closest thing to bread I have found except for the psyllium rolls. I like the chaffle better for bread and the other for rolls.

Karen, have a safe trip and try not to freeze. Enjoy the dogs so the cat will be jealous. emoticon

I have been doing chores and exercising today. My new book came from amazon today and I am anxious to see it. Crazy busy keto by kristie Sullivan. Working next 2 days, plan to shop black Friday, then work weekend. I have 4 family members with Bdays first week of December, planning the family get together for Xmas and what to bring so I can eat something and not binge. BG has been great except for this am, back to 107. Still, not horrible. Later friends !

I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm leaving in the morning to spend this Thanksgiving week with my son and his family. Both granddaughters will be there and of course they have four inside dogs! Megan is bringing her CCI dog that she is training with her so that will make five! Megan's dog is the only one with training (manners), lol.

Anyway, I will see some snow again, just like last November and it will be freezing!

I hope you all enjoy family this holiday!

Good morning !

Still need to exercise but was awake early and gave 1 dog a bath and blew dry her, made a small breakfast of coffee and bacon today since mom will pick me up at 1130 for lunch. I dislike lunch early, much prefer 2-3 pm especially on weekends. Also need to hit casino to see if any freeplay this week. I made turkey, peas & potatoes for Mike and kid yesterday so my Thanksgiving cooking is done... LOL !

Tish, wow are you sensitive to meds. Now a day, your coworkers doing that wuld be such a big hippa violation.

Little, I hope you can find all your ingredients at the store. The only place I have found carb quick is online.

I found a waffle maker that makes 2 square ones and I liked it much better for sandwich size bread. I will donate the other one back to the resale shop. I still like the wonder bread recipe the best. I did add some garlic powder to 1 batch and plan to make cheesy bread with them. Yummo.

Currently doing 4 loads of laundry and thawing a turkey since I work wed & thurs plus weekend this coming week.

BIL is busy the next couple of weeks so not sure when I can get a ride to the store. So much to do, so little time off to do it. He is still working because he can't afford to retire even though he is old enough.

Being off only 4 days with pancreatitis seems such a short time to me, although I don't envy your reactions to the meds.

Several years ago, I was hospitalized for it. At first, I couldn't even hold down water. After about a week, they put me on a clear fluid diet but that was mainly orange juice. I tried to tell them that OJ was not a clear fluid, and I refused to drink it -- asked for apple juice, but they never did anything about it....

They kept me in almost 2 weeks, said I had to have a couple of days where I was able hold down solids. By then I was begging to go home, so they let me go as long as I stayed with my sister for at least a week, I was not allowed to be on my own. The second week, I was allowed to go back to work for half days and the 3rd week, I went back full time but it was actually too much for me. I should have only done 3/4 days that week. I never want to go through that again....

An embarrassing little story about how I react to meds. Years ago I was working nights and was sick. My doctor came in early and found me with my head in a waste can for the second time that week and dragged me down to Xray. He called in someone and talked me into taking a half of an adult dose of an anti-nausea medicine so I could have an UGI without throwing up. I knew it was a huge mistake. I don't remember much after that. Apparently I was really out of it but could still sort of walk and talk - kind of like a drunk. My boss drove me home in my car home and another co-worker followed her early that Wednesday morning. They managed to get me into my apartment and into bed. I woke up in the evening when the phone rang and was naked. It was my boss. She laughed and asked how I was. I told her I was fine, though shocked to be naked, and would be coming to work. She told me what happened. First of all, it was not Wednesday evening. It was Thursday evening and I fried because I thought I had missed work. She told me that my doctor has given me 4 mandatory days off work as I had pancreatitis. Second, she told me that she and a friend had come by my apartment Wednesday evening to check on me and rang the doorbell. I answered the door completely naked to their surprise. I didn't say anything to them and left the room. They sat down in the living room and thought I was dressing and when I didn't come back they called my name and then went to find me and I gone back to bed. I was snoring. So they discussed if I was really safe to be alone. They took my vital signs and called my doctor and he said there wasn't much they could do but let me sleep it off. No one knows why I was naked but we assume that I probably got hot or we hope that was all it was. I didn't wet the bed so I obviously was getting up to use the bathroom. Maybe I took a bath. I don't know if I ate or what else I did. What if someone else had come to the door? My boss told everyone at work what happened and men I worked with would wink at me and ask me if I wanted some Phenergan. Not hardly!! So I'm fairly afraid of meds of any kind and always take the children's dose and it is often enough for me. Chamomile tea makes me sleepy.

Karen, I am totally with you. I have tried to tell my hubby that we can't keep this up forever but he points out that old men and old women in their 80s and even mid 90s live out here all alone. I tend to think that they are a hardier bunch than us. I know my hubby will not enjoy any of the things you mentioned but I would at least like to try some of them.

TC, I have some sandwich makers I might be able to use.

Linda, let us know how things turn out.

PJ, you seem to always be busy doing something productive. It sounds like we are all trying to avoid meds.

I lost myself in the She Cave today. Got started on the baby quilt. Intended to only cut out the fabric and wouldn't you know I started sewing on it too and have the pieced top done expect for 5 different border strips. It was nice to be sewing again and I love my new iron. I pick up my new ironing board tomorrow (had it ordered from Home Depot).

It has been a gloomy day cold and windy it was a good day to stay inside.

I did get a good nights sleep last night. I know what happened the other night after thinking about it I had a capachinno in the afternoon and I need to remember not to do that as it will keep me from sleeping. Sad thing is I have done it before. But it tasted so good that cold afternoon.

TIsh I tried a 1MG melatonin in the beginning and it didn't help at all. So I went stronger. I to don't take any meds except calcium, B12 and the melatonin when needed. I'm trying my hardest not to get on any kind of prescriptions for ever or postponed as long as possible. Especially if there are things I can do taking care of myself to avoid meds.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

I'd be interested in knowing how they come out of the freezer and how long they will be good in the freezer....

I saw a review on a Dash "no mess" waffle maker. It has 4 squares and a "border" so there is very little overspill and mess. When I looked for it at Amazon, it was not available. Then I saw the little mini makers so I settled for them.

They have arrived. Now I just have to go grocery shopping for the eggs and cheese (and carb quick) Hopefully I can make my first batch in the next couple of days

I use the 5mg melatonin and have no problems waking up or any hangovers. Made some more chaffles to have in freezer. also found a 2 square waffle maker which is more like bread. I tried the original recipe and did not care for that one much. Made more of the wonder bread ones. I will donate back the sandwich maker because it was too small to make sandwiches.

Tish, I'm pretty sure they won't hurt you. I tried the 3 mg pills once and they really did nothing.

I understand what you are saying about living out in a rural area on acreage with much to do. Hubby and I had 10 acres bordering Corp of Engineers land on Stillhouse Hollow Lake.
Fences, septic tanks, a well, outbuildings, a tank (pond), pipes to wrap before every freeze, etc. etc. not to mention mowing. I could have lived there the rest of my life but even before this pain became part of my life I knew it would be too much for me. I moved to "town".

I appreciate the conveniences and better location for groceries, medical, friends, etc. It's a big step to take and you have to ponder it a long time.

Karen

I have everything I need for our Thanksgiving meal too.

I bought a bottle of Melatonin the other day thinking I might try it but am afraid. LOL.

Karen thanks for the carb quik chaffle recipe. I have carb quik stored in the trailer so will give it a try when we get to Texas. To hard to open slides to find right now.

I didn't get but a couple of hours of sleep last night just one of the sleepless nights. My melatonin didn't even help and I didn't want to take any more and be a total dead head today. I did get out and went to 2 groceries stores this morning stocking up and beating the bad weather that we are supposed to get later today. I THINK I have all ingredients for what we will take to Thanksgiving dinner so hopefully won't have to get into those nasty long lines at the grocery store.

Karen, Obviously I need to get into the chaffle thing like everyone else. Where there is smoke, there's fire so they must be good. I still have not tried oopsie rolls.

TC, we really have too much to do. We have our old house, 6.5 acres, 5 outbuildings, a boat, 3 vehicles, all of which are a lot of work. And hubby wants to do all of the work himself he can do as around here it costs a fortune to have anything done and the work is often substandard. He and I have both worked in the industry some so we know how it is. It's like any job. You get to know the slimeballs and their slimeball practices. Like our handicapped neighbor pointed out - no matter what you have done they charge a minimum of $200. Hubby is away from home a minimum of close to 10 hours a day 5 days a week. So hubby constantly has a list of things to fix and I have all the rest of the work to do except for certain yard work I can't do like mowing, chainsawing, limbs too heavy for me to lift, etc. He helps me with outdoor work when he can. It was okay when we were young and healthier as we are both very hard workers but as we aged we both get further behind. Last night when hubby got home he has several things to do outside and he was not happy about it. I used to be able to do all of my shopping and errands in one day and sometimes had 25 plus places to go. I can't do that any more. We have to drive 2.5 miles just to get the mail. Drive 5.5 miles just to a Dollar General. We don't have mega stores where you can buy everything you need. Everything seems harder all the time.

Took the niece out to dinner last night and with all that salt, I really expected a gain today but am down another lb so far Kind of eating the same things. Eggs veggie meat bkfst, salad lunch, meat & veggie supper. or boiled eggs when working. I have 1 or 2 keto snacks a day like slimfast caramel cup, PB cup or whatever I have made that week. this week is a yummy, really yummy pumpkin bread with a cheesecake middle. I plan to exercise, shop at resale shops x 2, run to casino for freebie gift and will maybe eat lunch there since I have 2 free buffets.

Karen, I will post it in recipe thread later.

Karen, I need to check out that recipe. I made the wonder bread chaffle today in a sandwich maker and while very small, it did taste good.

Tish, OMG... you do so much in a day. Where do you find the energy ? I am dead after shopping with the niece and baking 2 caramel bubble rings, aka monkey bread but with yeast rolls.

PJ, how cool to walk into someone that knew you and was a walking miracle. She went thru hell, sounds like.

I had so much work to do today and have been chipping away at it. Vacuuming, cleaning, 4 loads of laundry, plus a lot of miscellaneous smaller stuff. There were 30 things on my to-do list. Some of them probably won't get done today. I am down to 8 left. The goal was to get the big stuff done and as many of the others as I could and it worked. I didn't sleep well so it has not been easy. I had some vertigo in the night and some GI problems then and today. Hubby was sick a lot of yesterday but feels a little better today. There is plenty of flu in the area now. Everyone is hacking.

They sound delicious!

Hubby and I went today and got 2 new tires for his work vehicle and some windshield wipers. We went to 3 different towns to run some errands. DMV, Walmart, gas station, Rural King. We looked at cell phones. Got some fire extinguishers for the house and car.

Tish, I never heard of those things either until last month when I was on the Diet Doctors FB site and everyone was talking about chafflels!

Speaking of chaffles, PJ have you tried making anything similar with Carb Quik? I had Carb Quik years ago and just ordered some the other day. I'm hoping I can find more ways to use it now. If you have any recipes with it that you really like, let me know!

Karen

PS. Another thought on "crispy" chaffles. Use butter or coconut oil on your waffle iron right before you add the chaffle mix!

Linda, I like almost all shades of blue. I had not heard of the Dash Mini Makers so I looked them up. Nice colors. I have gotten to where I can say no with no problems but I if people want to go postal I still prefer to exit, stage left. LOL. I often think that the less said the better when people are upset. I wish you had been able to go to the little ones first birthday.

PJ, I am not much of a seamstress really. Not really good with most female type things for that matter.

TC, I have not heard of Angel Cards. The fair sounded fascinating and a little scary at times. I would want the peaceful messages. LOL

Kren, I feel like the only one who has never hears of Mini Makers and Chaffles.

Hubby got the old truck fixed and starting dealing with leaves this weekend. I finished cleaning out the garden and perennial beds. Picked up more limbs. We were waiting for AT&T all day long today. They did not show up so I am getting rid of my landline.

I'm going to try more chaffles this afternoon. I will add some cheese on top also and preshredded cheese and see what happens.

I attended church yesterday (I have been going to the same church as Chris and TT) which I started doing this summer. I am really enjoying this church it reminds me so much of the one I grew up with in Iowa. And I haven't felt weird going without Frank.

The coffee pot was not working this morning so after my fitness class I went to Walmart and purchased a new one. This time I just got one of the small 5 cup models. Now that Frank only drinks a couple of large cups of coffee and I don't drink it at all the smaller size works great and takes up less room on the counter. Also purchased a new ironing board pad and cover.

I had a very nice surprise while I was out. I heard this voice beind me say “I know you” and turned around and it was my old Zumba teacher. I had not seen her in a year and half. She was the one that went into the hospital in 2018 and was in a coma for several weeks and in the hospital for months. A virus had attacked her heart and lungs and is lucky she survived. She looked great and is slowly regaining her health and strength back. She is very young in her mid 30s. They ended up taking part of her lung and she said her doctors told her she was a walking miracle.

That's all I know. We are enjoying some sunshine today in the 50s and windy.

Mine always come out crispy when they contain shredded cheese. Maybe I'm not mixing mine as thoroughly but they taste great and are crispy too!

I do always heat my waffle iron (Dash Mini) for 4 minutes before pouring in the mix!

If you put the cheese down on the waffle maker first, then the egg or egg/cheese mixture, then another layer of cheese on top and then close up the waffle maker, let cook until it stops steaming, it almost looks too crusty, but you can take it out earlier for a softer chaffle.

I have never been to a psychic fair but many years ago, I worked with a lady who went to every fair she could find around here, and seemed to take all the readings to heart....

I like that the blue aura is for peace and calmness. I have always felt calm and peaceful looking at a blue sky....

TC, I like everything crispy/crunch, bread, pancakes, brownies etc. That's just me. I guess lots of others do too.

That was a beautiful statement to make to whatever family member you addressed. About as plain and up front as you can be. Congratulations!

So, do you want the chaffles crispy if trying to use as bread or if reheating later ? Little, that was a great price on 3 appliances, especially for Canada. I finally told my family member, " I love you but I can not be around if there is raised voices, fighting/ debates going on, or high levels of negative energy as it makes me physically ill. So, if that is happening I will leave and depending on the level of stress, I may not say good bye."

The psychic fair was interesting. I really went hoping to find a new psychic near the QC but no success there. I have had several psychics tell me to never get a tarot card reading because the dark spirits can influence the reading. So, I never have until yesterday. I saw a young gal that charged $10 (cheapest & most accurate of all I saw). She used angel cards.

She saw my stress w/o me stating it and said it was new and only worse from already having work stress. She thinks I may get that new job by next June and 3 other people told me that w/o me stating anything besides " I am wondering about my job". She was able to tell me I had a job taking care of others and that I travel a lot. She also said I travel in my dreams which makes sense since I am always tired when I wake up.... LOL !!!

I did an aura reading and I had a blue aura and had a purple one last year. The blue means my focus in life right now is peacefulness & healing. It is the color of meditation intuition, peace. I glow with a mysterious inner light that attracts people to me for calmness & healing. A sense of belonging is important to me. True that, that is why I am here with the best 2nd family I have ever had !!

One guy told me to get 2 green candles and meditate with intention for money & health. He also told me I would take a cruise in Sept. I wonder if he was seeing the one I did in Branson... LOL ! I usually do not do cruises. I am not sure how much of this to believe but I always sit back and see if any of it comes true w/o me seeking it.

I did see one tarot card lady that seemed to know her stuff but when I finally sat down with her. I just did not get a good vibe, had an upset stomach, and was praying for only white light angel guidance the whole time. Not taking any of her reading with me.

There was another gal that had you lie down and had a special mat under back & over belly and placed her hands on back of head. She did not really answer any questions and supposedly saw my angels and dead loved ones but none of the people she saw was recognized by me. Still if it is true, it is nice they are in my corner. I was dizzy when I got up from that one which was weird. She is in strawberry point.

All in all, it was a wonderful positive relaxing day and I am glad I went even though a little expensive. To get in was only $5. The readings were $10-50 for 20 to 30 minutes. Weight down another 0.6 today so far but going to lunch with Brian & mom later.

PJ, I make the taco chaffle recipe I posted in our recipe thread. Sometimes I omit the chili powder and make one that is more just bread like. It uses 1 tsp coconut flour and 1 tsp baking POWDER, not baking soda.

This is a link to the FB group where everyone is obsessed with Chaffles! I have often read here that if yours don't turn out crispy enough be sure to put some of the grated cheese on the top/bottom of your mix when you put it in the waffle iron.

I also omitted the chili powder and added cinnamon and erythritol one time and came up with a sweet version that was very good with sugar free syrup. Some of the sweet recipes use cream cheese but I don't think they are crispy. Evidently the shredded cheddar, etc. is what enhances the crispiness.

When you come up with a new version you really like, be sure to let us know and post the recipe!

Tish I could only alter a few depending on how they were made. Most I just added a long big dart in the back one on each side of the center back.

Karen on the dash waffles. Did yours get crunchy. So far mine have not but I haven't tried the ones that are only cheese and egg. I have been using a recipe that adds some baking soda and about a T of almond flour.

So what does the blue aura stand for? Blue is my fav colour, some shades of blue more than others, lol

A couple of days ago, the Shopping Channel (in Canada) had a deal on Dash mini makers. They had a set of alll three, the waffle maker, the grill and the griddle, all for $29.99 The prices at Amazon is over $20 for one so to get all 3 is great. Of course, I ordered a set. Now I'm just waiting for them to arrive in the mail. Hopefully I will have my kitchen all scrubbed down and everything put away by then so I can experiment.

I have always hated squabbles (and my family is famous for squabbles!) I tend to shut down and go hide until it is all over. I find it very difficult to express to those fighting how it makes me feel, so I just hold everything in. I am told this is why I am always so stressed and it makes me ill. I am trying to learn how to release this stress, but after 66 years of holding it in, it is hard to let go...

My sister's youngest grandson turned 1 on 15th, and they had a party for him on Saturday. I wasn't feeling so great, so did not go. Hard to believe that little guy is already a year old. He's a little cutie.....

I don't see anyone in this group as a whiner. I think it is probably better to vent than hold it in. Especially if the venting makes you feel less stressed. I think most people prefer to be happy but that isn't always possible and most of us realize that.

Sometimes other people make things worse though when you are seeking empathy. I remember when one of my pets died and someone said to me. "Wasn't she old?" How does a question like that help me when I am suffering??? Yes, she was old and sick and I loved her and would have never been ready to give her up. I didn't love her less because she was old.

I love peace too. Non-peace, aka drama, literally makes me ill. So I usually insist on peace. In the realm of fight or flight, I am definitely leaving if possible. If cornered and forced to fight I'm fairly destructive. Burnt dead bodies, veins in my teeth.

I hope my aura is blue, too. I love blue. I would love the psychic fair!

I hate being such a whiner. I normally am not. I always try to see the positives even if I see the negative first. I have worked a long time on this because I want to attract positive to my life so I feel out of sorts now, trying to adjust. I am passive aggressive and I admit it. I like peace. I am very grateful I have a safe place to vent and that you all understand even if you are as tired of the negative as I am.

I am spending part of the weekend researching how to talk & teach the kid so I do not go nuts and I resolve to correct her every time I get upset, which may be a lot... LOL ! I had the best day at the psychic fair today. What fun even if a tad pricy. Had an aura picture taken, it was blue, one of my favorite colors.

You all make me want to invest in a waffle maker... LOL ! New phone first, I think. Evidently I need to buy 2 green candles for money & health. LOL !! The things you learn at those psychic fairs.

Got my flu shot and lab work done yesterday as well as a trip to Joann's and groceries. Bought the rest of the material I need for the new baby quilt. Also bought a new iron. I'm trying a Rowena (30% off and I needed a new one) Will be playing with it this afternoon Since I had all my Christmas shopping done I got presents wrapped this morning.

Set up appointments for TT and I to get our yearly pedicures and lunch out next Wednesday.

I hate buying jeans they do all fit differently. I have bought 2 new pair and they are each a different size. I usually try on all my clothes before buying. But it is fun buying all these smaller clothes. I have even taken some favorite tops so I can continue wearing them.

I agree. I have so many different sizes of shirts and they all fit.

I also bought a pair of Levi's size 30/32. I hope ya'll know I'm only posting this info because I can't believe it myself. It has been more than 20 yrs since I was this size. On top of that I feel really good. I'm amazed that I found a way of eating that did all this for me.

Never give up.

I love Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. I guess she is gone now. I wonder if her son Anderson is running the company. Clothing sizes are all over the place. I have to try everything on.

PJ, so glad you're back! I know you're taking good care of Frank! And planning to come to Texas again this winter!

I went shopping yesterday for new jeans. My old ones are baggy. I came home with a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in a size 6! Yes, they zip and button, lol. Funny thing about women's clothing we all know. I also came home with a pair of size 8 jeans. Same brand. Slightly different cut. The 8's are stretch jeans but didn't fit around my middle in a 6 . The 6's don't stretch but did fit. Hmmm. Oh well.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

We can relate. Everyone needs a break sometimes.

It sounds like you are staying focused about your goals. I hope everything goes well for Frank too.

Sorry to hear about your ex MIL. My ex MIL was a really nice lady as were his brothers and sisters. I run into them occasionally.

Your cousin sounds fun. I love to look at quilts.

I am thinking about doing the same with my doctor appointments, I want them in spring and early fall and they seem to get later and later.

I need to start using my new laptop soon.

I'm hanging in there and my hubby is too.

I have a couple of waffle makers. I should dig them out.

I know it has been quite a while since I have posted. Honestly I have been busy but also just wanted to take a break.

Holding on to my weight loss and keeping a close watch on that. Frank had his eye surgery and the doctor said it went well but it may not ever be normal again. At this point 2+ weeks after surgery it is not showing much improvements. He goes back in 2 more weeks when they will do another MRI. He had his EGD throat scope today. This is the 3rd one he has had in a few years. 1st one was abnormal 2nd one was normal so this one is to see what it shows. Hope to know in a few days.

My ex MIL passed from Alzeihemers so I went to that funeral on Monday. It was good to see some of the ex's cousins I had not seen since high school. And I have always stayed close and in touch with ex MIL and ex SIL.

I also made a trip to Iowa last week to see family. As usual my cousin (who I stay with) had lots of things for us to do. Several quilt shops and gifty type shops. My quilter friends will be glad but not surprised I found a baby quilt book with some patterns for the new great grand baby due in May and one piece of fabric for that now to find 2 more that will go with it for this new quilt project. I thought if I had the material a Texas project could be cutting out the pieces.

We always have lots of doctor appointments before we leave for Texas and then start them all over again when we come home in the spring.

My laptop did die and I just got the new one on Tuesday. So far I really like it but a bit of learning curve with Windows 10 from Windows 7. They did a fantastic job (how I don't know) getting all my old infor and files and pictures from old one onto the new one. As well as emails. I purchased it through where I used to work as I knew they would be reliable and take good care of me. Which they did.

Karen I am so glad you found Anita you need that and it is so funny that Katie need to supervise.

TC I know it is hard but you need to put your foot down it is your house and your rules even if she is a drug baby. It isn't your responsibility to take all that on. You work so hard at work I wish you could find something else or get the help and breaks you so deserve. And all I can do is willingly listen to you. Hugs

Tish how are you feeling now better I hope.

I did get a new Dash mini waffle make tried it for the first time today. Overfilled it the 1st time and it made a mess so the next ones I didn't put as much batter in. They were good. Will try again in a couple of days so maybe I can put some in the freezer for later. It sure is a cute little appliance.

Take care everyone.

Re the pet marker - Well, I'm not 100% mean, though some may argue that point. emoticon

I wish we could make things better for you on some front.

Nothing wrong with Mike not being up for parenting or you either. You are not parents. And this is not a child. Or your child. It's not like either of you are trying to leave your baby in a basket on someone's doorstep so you need to stop feeling guilty. Mothers have 9 months to bond with their babies inside them and lots of hormones to help. By the time it's born most of us are on board to deal with the little devil because it's our little devil. You and Mike have been inflicted with a full grown devil and they are not cute like little devils. It's time for her dad to step up to the plate or for her to learn to take care of herself. If she is unable then social service need to deal with it. Not Mike and you. This is making both of you sick. You with anxiety and he with depression.

This is your home. My house, my rules, always. Every parent knows this. Otherwise there is no limit to what some devils can think up to do when mommy and daddy aren't home. Ask Karen, she was in law enforcement. Given enough supervision, discipline, and chores darn near any of them will move out. LOL.

Most parents are far from perfect- my parents. Most kids know right from wrong - me. Any poor decisions I made are mine. My parents are not responsible. So don't make excuses for her.

Life is always unfair. I tend to think there is always someone taking advantages of us because I see proof every day. I can relate to your work experience. I tend to think that at work you work harder and do a better job than everyone else so you are there later. I know you would not be content to not meet your standards. As one of my bosses said once, to whom much is given, much is expected. Your best and another person's best are not equal. Yes, you deserve better than you are getting. Your boss should be providing the support you need. Sometimes it's good to have an ongoing discussion with them. So they know your needs and expectations.

Food sounds great at your house. Our is dull here. My bad.

Tish & Karen, I love you two. Tish I almost "lost it" after reading bury them both and the marker... emoticon Oh my gosh. too funny. Mike is a gem. he can be selfish occasionally but he needs to be to stay sane. He even admitted that he has been going to bed almost immediately after work because the kid wears him out, He feels like a warden or task master always having to direct the kid and get her back on task. Tish I am always amazed at how much you get done. I wish I could afford a housekeeper like Karen... LOL ! And it is cute how Katie supervises.

It is my house but I feel funny trying to place rules and enforce them when she is not my kin. I am trying so hard to be patient because I know she can not help it. She was born a drug baby just like her brothers who are all inmates at 1 time or another and 1 is still in jail. I could not remember how he had worded the shoveling task the other day. It was "take care of the snow". That can be interpreted many ways I think. I think we need to be very specific what to do, how to do it, when task is expected to be done and consequences if not done. That may motivate her, maybe.

I am also so jealous !! Mom has been retired since 55. Marissa does not work but gets money and free health care. Mike makes more money than me w/o college when he works OT. I am trying to count my blessings instead of being jealous. He maintains his weight w/o trying, eats junk. I just get frustrated that I do not have some of the perks of life. I am blessed though and I need to remember that instead of being jealous.

We currently have 4 breastfeeding nurses at work that get 3-4 breaks per shift to pump and a lunch. There are 2 nurses that are always at the desk. Yet, all these people get out of work before me. I would love to be a fly to see what the difference is that I am always out late. I wonder if I do too much extra tasks, do not call techs enough, chart too much ???? I am just not sure.

All I know is I hate it when the educator gets in my face to ask me to do something that should already have been done by someone else. So, now I am in the habit of checking all those tings and getting them done in hopes I do not have to deal with her. She is rude and bossy. Not nice unless fake nice, gets under my skin. I had the prior to admission med list done yesterday from admit 2 days prior that no one else had done and she still asked me to do it. Needless to say, I told her it was already done.... HA !!! Her reply was the audit had been done day before. Really ? Why not ask that nurse to get it done then ? Hmmmm ??

All this stress really makes me cranky. sorry to vent. It really is all the little things that get to me. I actually handle big stress a bit better. OK enough negativity. On a more positive note, I have stuck with my atkins food plan since Saturday and my BG has been less than 100 every day so far. I am getting a little more aggressive energetic ? with my exercise, I have not killed any one yet … LOL !! I made homemade apple dumplings for Mike and the kid from his mom's recipe. not pretty but he said it tasted like hers so happy for that. I made a pumpkin bread with cream cheese in the middle that was amazing and 5 carbs a slice. thinking of trying the instpot for taco soup or maybe zuppa toscada soup.

So cute about Katie. She has assumed the role of supervisor. You really lucked out when you found her. And Anita.

It has taken me many months to get used to having someone in my house for 5 hours or more, even if it's only once a month. It wore me out. But now I am enjoying it, finally. So is Katie. She follows Anita around into every room, even when she's vacuuming and making noise. It's like she has to see what's going on or inspect what's happening to her house.

Once it's all done, my house does look so nice. It's cleaned and shined much better than I could do these days. Katie is worn out after cleaning day and it takes many hours of catnaps to catch up. Katie and I both look forward to Anita coming to clean for us.

I got all my work done yesterday and some extra but it was brutal. I am getting too old for this much work. Too sick. I need to steal Karen's maid.

I wish it were 69 here. We had the 9 though. And 2 inches of snow. I don't like snow at all. I tend to think that if I lived anywhere with too much snow I would move south. When I met Benny he told me how much he loved Montana and I told him he would not be loving it with me. A visit in summer is okay but that is it. I would not consider moving anywhere with worse weather than here. Rules are rules.

Olives are food of the gods. I eat them almost every day. Olives are perfect.

I could get rid of anyone's unwanted house guests. It's one of my special gifts. LOL. My female cousin had it too. Her brother was a freeloader and their parents got sick of him and sent him down to live with her. It was fun to listen to him whine about her forcing him to get up in the morning and go to work, even when he was sick with a hangover. Boohoo. I told her she missed her calling. She should have been a warden. She taught me how to take care of myself. People instinctively know I am not someone you can take advantage of. We all need to take care of ourselves, just like Karen said. When you don't, things start to crop up and fester.

When I was a kid my parents would talk about this couple. The hubby was mean, drank a lot, and beat his wife all the time. I guess everyone in town thought it wasn't their own problem and that they should mind their own business. One day I heard my aunt, who was a nurse, tell my parents that the wife had beaten the ---- out of the hubby. He was in the hospital and they didn't know if he would make it. He did make it but it ended his career as a wife beater. He was afraid of her. Pent up rage isn't a good thing. Fear and respect often go hand in hand. Parenting is like that. LOL

Lots of wind and temps fell from 69 this morning to 32 now at 8:30 pm. 26 in the morning. I am very happy that we seldom have snow!

It's 14 in Lincoln, Ne. where I'll be spending Thanksgiving. Last November when I was there there was also a lot of snow. If I lived where it snowed I'd be spending money every day to get someone to shovel it for me!

I love olives, too, and have forgotten all about them. I think I'll have some tomorrow.

Tish, maybe you need to go visit TC and get things under control for her, lol.

TC, take care of YOU. Don't forget that!

Ugh on the snow! Olives are one of my favorite foods.

I'm glad to see that Mike appreciates you. Were I in your position I would have used the shovel to to bury him and his niece in the backyard long ago, then went out and bought a pet grave marker to mark the site. "Gone but not forgotten".
