26 degrees today. Still have snow and windy ! I am ready for 50 degree weather. Watching Tv today and relaxing so very boring here. Bought papa johns pizza last night and ate only toppings but BG was 107 so even though half sauce it was probably still a bit sugary. Had egg salad for lunch with keto connect bagel. It has too much garlic so next time maybe try a cinnamon flavor or half garlic. A bit dry since it is made with protein powder but rose nicely.

The weekend was really nice here. Sunny and in the 50s. I got outside and did some work. It was wonderful to discover signs of Spring everywhere. My crocus, daffodils, hyacinths, hearty amaryllis, iris, chives, etc. are all up in varying degrees. Some of my shrubs are getting ready to bud out, like my forsythia. The birds are starting to sing and chase each other. The squirrels are chasing each other too. Not too much going on here other than trying to avoid the flu as it is everywhere. Plus we caught 3 mice in the house and hubby cleaned a stinking hairball out of the bathroom sink the size of a mouse. We don't have a cat so he is our mouser and he is also in charge of hairballs too.

My left knee is much better and the right is slightly better. Just did my p.t. Exercises and iced it. Trying to talk myself into getting on bike. Not hungry, but want to eat.....anything !! Frustrated not feeling 100%. Karen you and Joe sound like Mike and I. I hope we grow old together but i fear he will have dementia which is scary since he owns so many guns... Lol ! Need to cook something but not looking forward to it. I have been eating eggs and precooked pork with lettuce, salsa, sour cream. Fast and easy.

TC, Joe and I joke all the time that we are like grumpy old married people, although really, we are seldom grumpy with each other. We've been a non-engaged, non-cohabitating, unmarried couple for over 20 yrs now. Life is good!

I don't do well with a cane or crutches when I have a painful hip, back or feet. I use my mother's walker in the house. I think I mentioned before Joe and I have this assortment of old people's disabled paraphernalia that we share when one of us is debilitated. Joe is 16 yrs younger but has some back issues now and then nonetheless.

Good luck with your healing progress, TC. It always takes too long, doesn't it?

Karen, lucky you that you an escape the crud. Wash those hands... LOL !! How is the construction coming along ? Still very noisey ? Yes dear ? Common law married, are you ?!

PJ, I am glad you arrived safely and have burped your RV for your stay. It sounds like a lovely park. So jealous. I want Spring ! NOW !!!! LOL !

Tish, with all your health problems, I knew you would know what I am going through. I hope you are feeling as well as possible today. Really weird weather in the Midwest any more. Foggy and cold today. Currently 32 degrees so far today.

Thank God for the walking stick mom got us. Mine is in the camper but Mike found his and it is helping a lot, Problem is I can not go to work with a cane. MRI scheduled Thursday along with first PT session but I have been doing PT on my own almost a month.

Ortho doc seems to think my pop was a meniscus tear and I would have to agree but the MRI will tell for sure. At this time, I am thinking no to surgery but will have to see what MRI shows for sure. RT knee seemed to be feeling better but tried walking the 25 steps to bathroom 4 times yesterday very slowly w/o cane and knee is more panful today again so may be going too fast. I have read it can take as long as bones to heal 6-8 weeks.

Ice helps. Problem : bathroom upstairs - need hourly, kitchen, ice downstairs. Mike and kid in So. English again. He does love his lil house. Getting about half of normal back on taxes so that really hurt my vacation fund. Will have to try and save another way. Right now I use 2 credit unions. The second one I put the money Marissa pays in rent in case someone says I have to give it back, LOL !! I have my RV financed thru them also.

I have to get up and walk every hour, bike 20 minutes 3 x daily, stretches leg lifts etc x 20 at least 2 times daily. Should lose weight, right ?!!

You'll be back on track, PJ, now that you've got it figured out. I hate to think of the 94 yr. old guy going to a nursing home. I hope someone takes him out on Sundays to be in nature somewhere.

Joe came home mid-day from work on Thursday with what is scientifically called "the crud". Feeling lousy, congested, all the worst allergy symptoms, some of the flu symptoms, chills come and go, etc. He's had this before. I am doing my "visit the sick" good deeds and he's feeling a little better today. So far I've managed never to come down with it myself in all the years he's dealt with it.

He's too busy to be sick, he says. Yes, dear, I say.

Busy day so far. I did a load of laundry and walked while they washed and when they were drying. Have a chicken in the crockpot that should give us at 2-3 meals. Vacuumed and mop the floors. Just sitting down drinking a protein shake. Frank is outside doing all his setting up things. I see the clothesline is going up now. We found out that one of the older widowers won't be here after this year. He was the last of the elder ones that were here when we started coming. He celebrated his 94 birthday this week. Going into a retirement home. Will be sad to not see him anymore but it is understandable.

I've gained a couple of pounds so time to get back to what I know I need to do. Put a stop to this gain right now.

TC, I have a lot of sympathy and empathy for pain! I hope you get relief soon! Maybe some paid time off work?

Happy not to live where it's really cold and snowy. I was talking to my DIL in Nebraska and my weather app says it was -0 degrees there last night. Not sure what minus zero is, lol. Plus zero any better? LOL. Too cold for sure!

Good morning team,

Karen, poor Katie & you with the noise. I saw your picture and I am thinking it will turn out nice so looking forward to after pics.

PJ, I wish I was able to retire. Mike & I would come keep you company... LOL !! Will you look for any other parks to try ? The bad thing about having activities is the price usually reflects that.

Worked yesterday, snowed, so had to be really careful in parking lot. Thankfully, I did not fall but coming up stairs at home, I heard a loud pop in RT knee and super bad pain. Could not put much weight on it to get up other 8 stairs and hate to admit it but cried the whole time. Mike found his walking trail stick and I am hobbling around this morning. A tad less pain with the stick. 1:30 ortho appt so I am hoping they help. Glad they could get me in and my sweet momma will drive me there. Tired of being in so much pain. I rarely have pain over a 4-5 and this is consistently 7-10.

Boy has the weather changed We had mid 90s over the weekend and yesterday it was a high of 57. Still windy and cloudy today.

We spent yesterday going to town for groceries. Today it is packup day and leave in the morning. There is one hitch the truck is acting up DH went to town to get an alternator and hopefully that will fix the problem. The batteries aren't charging so we did get a portable charger yesterday as well just in case but always good to have on hand.

We spent yesterday going to town and getting groceries and a Walmart run. Today is packing up to leave in the morning. We ran into a truck problem yesterday the batteries aren't charging. We bought a portable battery charger just in case and always good to have on hand. Today Frank decided to go and buy an alternator hoping that is the problem.

Karen you asked which place I liked the best that is a tough question. After 6 weeks or so I'm ready to leave them both. Falcon has the trails which I love and a rec hall (which is used as a coffee and cookie place from 9-12 M-F) and a potluck once evening a week. Which we stopped going to this year as it is always unhealthy options except the deviled eggs I used to take.

Rayburn has a cafe and campstore which is handy and useful if you want a burger or fried food neither of which we do except maybe 1 time. Walking is in the campground or on a deadend not busy road. I am more comfortable riding my bicycle here.

They both have laundry facilities and a book exchange shelf.

Bottom line is I'm not entirely happy at either as there are no activities at either. I love getting away from the cold weather but I truly miss my fitness classes at home and being able to drive somewhere by myself even if it is just classes and groceries. I'm a very independent person. I have not found any friends that are interested in exercising so it gets lonely after a few weeks. Fishing for Frank is different each year and he equally likes both places.

So there you have it. I know not really a definite answer

TC, I did mobile trauma transfers for 5 hospitals in 3 counties in the late 70s and one of them went out of business later too. The people in the town tried to save it but they couldn't. Same problem as the NICU. Lots of uninsured people putting them in debt. The closest NICU to here is in St. Louis - about 90 miles away. I had to be sent there to have my son. It's no wonder that the infant mortality is so high in the United States compared to other countries.

Maybe Mike has decided to raise this young adult himself. He is at least family. I don't like food in my bedroom waste can either. It can draw in bugs and mice.

I hope work is better for you.

PJ, my hubby is a lot better at kite flying than I am. More experience, I guess. The wind does make a huge difference. We used to fly ours from our pontoon boat. My Dad went to Toledo Bend fishing at least every year and often twice a year. He loved it down there and had a lot of friends in the area. They were his pall bearers when he died.

Karen, my cats didn't seem to be disturbed by anything. I'm not sure why. Maybe because they were both homeless and alone when we found them.

PJ, I've been meaning to ask you. Which of your two usual Texas locations do you and Frank like best? Or does it depend on the fishing? LOL.

Demo day today for my master bath. Removing the huge jetted tub and putting in a walk-in shower. Noisy! Messy! I locked the cat in the front bedroom/bathroom but the poor thing thinks we're being bombed so she's not coming out from under the bed!

Good Morning It is another windy day here. I

I only got about 2-3 hours of sleep last night so a little grouchy. Keeping my mouth shut as I could easily snap and be hateful. We did try flying the kite yesterday. Frank did better than I did and I did post a video on FB. No pictures of me as he had to help me and I still mostly crashed it into the ground. But I will keep trying until I get it. It may have been too windy yesterday also. Hopefully before we leave here on Friday we will get a day that is not quite as windy to try again.

We leave here on Friday and will arrive at our East Texas park on Saturday.

I just saw where unity point hospital in Iowa is closing their mother baby NICU because there are no doctors and there is no support for the cost of care to all the drug momma's that come in.

I am currently in reset mode. I logged on PC yesterday just long enough to log in, spin points wheel and log points so you all know I am still alive... LOL !! Mike and the kid are in So English getting the wifi speed increased and resetting cameras. I am thinking he is considering moving there ? Not sure but he sure checks on that house a lot. Anyway it is blessedly quiet here and I am enjoying it. Told the kid no more food in trash in her bedroom. Nasty putrid smell and I finally found out why. . SIGH....

I think I finally found everything I need for my taxes so off work Tuesday and will drop them off. Brother Chris stopped by yesterday to show me where his arm got burned by the adhesive on his CGM patch. He was considering quitting his job until he came back after 3 weeks off and they all begged him to never leave again... LOL So, now he does not know what to do. I was no help. I pointed out the positives of both jobs. Lunch with mom today. Crappy work week ahead, work 1 day, off 1, etc all week.

Kentucky is actually 35th. It's a beautiful state as are most of the southern states I have been to. I love Land Between The Lakes. Except for the skunks. Never saw so many skunks. LOL

Interesting, Tish. Where is AZ on that list? I am curious because I sure can't find good thyroid care here.

Yep, what Karen said. You need some TLC. Maybe take a less than perfect job to tide you over until you find the right one. That is what I did and it worked out great.

We got a light dusting of snow last night and it stayed around freezing all day so it didn't all melt. Gloomy. I got my tax stuff gathered up and ready to take to our appointment later in the month.

re wellness visits - All seniors are supposed to have a Welcome to Medicare in the first year and a Medicare Wellness visit yearly. This is NOT a medical exam, though they do take your height, weight. BP. Mine also does a pulse oximeter and temp but they do this always. These appointments focus on preventative health care. They do testing other than labs so they have baselines they can refer back to to catch problems early when it is easier to treat them. The object of them is to lower your risk of injury and illness. They obtain lifestyle info, functional info, access fall risk, do cognitive tests, get environmental info, do strength tests, vision tests, access home safety, hearing impairment, depression screening, substance abuse screening, advanced care directives, nutrition, tobacco use, history, meds etc. I think there are about 8 pages of questions - 7 for me to fill out, one for my hubby. They recommend tests you need. Treatment. Therapy. Vaccines. Referrals. Labs. They make recommendations on areas you need to work on or change. I don't know about Texas but the ones here are very, very, very thorough and worth the effort but then most states in the north/northeast are invested heavily into healthcare. I have friends who live in certain areas of the country that have crappy Wellness visits. They also have crappy healthcare in general. They are often great states in other areas but not healthcare. States are rated for health care for things like patient outcome, cost of healthcare, availability of good doctors, infant mortality, etc. For instance, I live in Illinois and we are ranked 26th or around there. Most of the high rated states are northeast and northwest of us. Texas is ranked 43rd which puts it in the critical area. The cost of insurance and infant mortality aren't too bad there but it is dead last in some criteria. Fourteen of the seventeen lowest ranked states are in the south. So being proactive is very important. Your wellness visit is meant to help you and your doctor focus on what is important. You results are unique and individualized.

Update on kid. Now has physical. Still needs psych eval before she can start job training. We have been struggling with this since Aug. Geeeeez. Talk about slow.

Yesterday at work was bad. Manager asked me in front of everyone including a doctor if i had had a bad day because the tele aide thought i was rude over the vocera since i told her i had not gotten an alert and i was currently taking care of a painful and vomiting pt but would check said tele pt after i gave nausea med. I also informed her that i had been in that pt room 4 times in past 40 min because i was weaning oxygen and she has been fine. She thought i was rude because i told her what i was dealing with and i did not kiss her as$ and run to said room. I need that new job now. I keep checking online, papers but so far not seeing something i want to do for next 10 years til i can retire.

Came home crying because i felt devalued. Had to keep telling myself my patients benefitted having me as a nurse that day. I prioritized well and gave my cancer patient the time he needed to talk about his wishes and needs. I really wanted to quit though.

Medicare keeps asking mom about her will to live or if she is thinking of suicide. She finally has her insurance fixed.

The mold guy came, will not do anything. I was not impressed.

Question: Do I need a Medicare Wellness visit? I see my doctor every six months and we go over every thing in detail. I also see him in between if I have any issues. He knows me very well. WHAT will a special Medicare visit do for me? Are they just going to ask me if I feel safe in my home and/or do I have a fear of falling?

My health plan is sending out automatic yearly notices now, I guess. Never had one before.

PJ, I haven't watched much football this year but really enjoyed the Superbowl game and without knowing much about them decided to cheer for the Chiefs! I really liked their quarterback and the way they played.

I haven't been so excited about any sports in quite a while. Joe is NOT a sports fan at all. My son Scott was home sick with terrible allergies, so I just texted him every time there was a thrilling play, lol.

I think my problem is that I don't really like phones so making them harder to use makes it much worse for me. I need a play phone for a 3 year old. LOL.

Tish, I am sad to hear you ae not feeling well and your MRSA is troubling you. I hope it heals fast and that you get over the nasal crud as well. New phones are always frustrating. I have found youtube to be quite helpful in learning new phones.

Karen, I am anxious to check out your blog now. Glad you found someone you can trust to do your remodel. Katie may get anxious but will survive... LOL !!

PJ, I am glad KC won and I see you found something to buy at the kite fest.

Linda, The santa picture sounds quite cute and sentimental.

Ruthann, I envy you having the time and energy to make your own ketchup and dressings. I am glad Sadie is happy being back at work... LOL !!

I had a me day, got my nails done and shopped a bit. Bought 2 roast beef sandwiches with no bread or sauce from hardees and that will be lunch next 2 days... LOL !!

Karen, I love that some nursing homes have resident pets. The one my MIL and dad were in had an aviary.

PJ, I would hate eating out 3 days in a row too. Hubby and I fly kites sometimes.

Ruth Ann, I like ketchup but don't like mayo or Thousand Island Dressing. LOL. I am terrible with technology.

Sunday was beautiful here and in the mid 60s so hubby and I got outside some. We are not into sports or commercials but we do like animals, including dogs, so we watched a little of the Puppy Bowl. So many cute dogs!

Today was nice and warm too but the sun when in and it started to sprinkle. I got my laundry, cleaning, and vacuuming done. I am trying to finish another Joanna Fluke book today. They tend to go on a little too long.

We are back now at our campsite and glad to be able to sleep in our own bed again. Had a great time and the Kite Fest was amazing. We did buy a two string cart to see if we can learn how to fly it.

I love to eat out but 3 days in a row it gets old fast and not very healthy either. Bought groceries on the way home and stopped and picked up our mail.

Ruth Ann I love that you take Sadie with your to work (BTW our last dogs name was Sadie also). When dad was in the nursing home the dementia wing he was in for a short time had a dog. It was just wonderful how much joy they can bring to the residents.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Ruth Ann, it is so cool that your doggie goes to work with you! My mother was in a nursing home several times after each hospital stay and then for the last two months of her life. The nurses there brought their cute little doggies, with sweaters, vests and bows in their hair, every day.

All the people living in the nursing home enjoyed having a dog to pet throughout the day. It's a wonderful thing in their limited lives!

Seems I have a lot of catching up to do . I made some ketchup and mayo yesterday , I don't really like ketchup but some recipes I have like the one for thousand island dressing calls for it, so I make it occasionally

Sadie and I went back to work ,, seems my patients were over joyed to see her ,, not so much me . lol, For those who don't know Sadie is the great pyrenes in my picture. She on the other hand was most over joyed to go back, to work ,, she gets treats from everyone there. at least now they are keeping them to dog treats not human food.

Our weather here is warm one day , freezing the next, I cant decide if I want to go out and plant the garden or go make snow angels , ,, but that's Missouri weather for ya

PJ I used to love to travel ,, but not so much any more it kills my back just to drive the 3 1/2 hour drive to my daughters house , to see my grandkids ,, which that trip is coming up on the 15th for my Grandsons birthday dinner , and to go pick out his birthday gift.

Theresa I have just gotten to the point the only time I crave bread is for a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup,, I do make 60 second mug biscuits which I have flattened and toasted well then slapped cheese between to grilled sides, and it wasn't bad,, not real grilled cheese but it sufficed, I just haven't found a good tomato soup recipe yet . Mold can be a hard thng to get rid of .

Ticia my husband says, remember when the DVD players came out and we bought mom and dad one and every time you went over there the clock was flashing 12;00 . they were technology deficient. and couldn't figure it out ,, Well We are there now the technology is so beyond us its hard for us to work . Sorry to hear about your MRSA,,.

Any way folks I need to get out of here I have so much to do before work tomorrow,

Have a great day every one,, ill try to keep up this week but being back to work 12 to 16 hours a day makes it hard especially having to come home and take care of the rabbits, and the chickens ..

For some 50 years or more, I have hated having my picture taken. I get very anxious when the cameras come out! Now I will get up and move if others are taking random shots around the room/group.

When I was in my mid-thirties, I entered a contest hoping for a set of carving knives, and I won a family portrait. Me. By myself. Professional portrait. I forced myself to do it and it is almost the last picture taken of me.

I did let my twin talk me into sitting on Santa's "knee" the year we turned 50 (we were each holding a poster made from a picture of us on our first Christmas with Santa holding us, one in each arm) but I couldn't sit long there long enough for them to get a "good" shot. Sis did not really like the picture but she is happy she got what she got. Since we turned 65, she asks every year if we can do it again but I just can't bring myself to do it.

My family is practically non existent and those left will not want any pictures of me LOL.

Got up late today. Hubby was feeling sick all day and was cranky. We did some shopping and errands - got gas, went to Rural King to get wild life food, Schnucks for groceries, Walmart for more phone stuff. Tried to sit outside and it was too cold. I regret getting out of bed really. LOL.

Jenn, my son's girlfriend has been telling me I shouldn't be camera shy because my family will want photos of me after I'm gone.

I stopped letting people take my photo if I could help it years ago but she convinced me. So I've don't my own age progression photos on my blog today. No software involved. Just a lot of living!

Well I have the estimates for my bath remodel and have chosen the one I'm going with. $5000 turnkey job. That's not for a complete bathroom remodel, just removing the large jetted tub and putting in a walk in shower.

Of course, I'll need to talk it over with Katie because it will disrupt her life for a while and she'll be confined to a smaller area for most of the day every day until it's done. She will be in my guest bedroom which has an attached bath and a big window by the bed so I don't think she'll suffer too much. Of course, she thinks she suffers if any doors in the house are closed!

I won't know for a while when demo-day will begin.

We need some sun and we are supposed to have it for one day on Groundhog Day. LOL.Winter drags on too long here. I think Katie and I are related. I'm very sun oriented.

I hate staying in motels but Corpus Christi and South Padre Island sound good.

Tish, sounds to me like you and hubby need to leave town for a while! Have an overnight vacation somewhere just for a change of scenery!

Katie loves the sunshine too. She gets on the window in the kitchen and waits for the sun to start shining in, every day. She'll stretch out there and stay for hours until her fur feels like it might ignite. On days when the sun doesn't shine much, she's also sick of it, lol.

PJ, sounds like a great side trip! Enjoy!

Heading to South Padre Island and maybe the Corpus Cristi area back on Monday. Going to the Kite Fest in SPI and This way we will be able to see the Super BOwl (we don't get the local channels in our trailer). 2-3 nights in a hotel is all we can stand then I want to be in my own home and bed. I'm not sure if I need and air fryer but am into small appliances.

I love ice cream and would love to make some healthy versions.

The temps are still crazy here - up and down, up and down, up and down. I would just as soon it level out somewhere and stay - in the 40s, 50s, 60s, whatever. We have threats of sleet, freezing rain, snow, ice, rain every few days and have gotten a dusting of snow again today but it melted quickly. It's always cloudy, gloomy, dark, dismal, foggy. I am seeking out my SAD light because the sun seldom shines. Kind of sick of it. LOL.

My MRSA is active again. I have one on my temple. I rarely have any on my face. They hurt no matter where you have them and there is no convenient place. I hope it's not going to get real big and have to be lanced and leave a scar. When my MRSA is active I feel rung out. I just had a fever blister. I am sneezing. Wheezing off and on. Some nasal congestion. Hot and cold. Not sick but not well. Kind of sick of it. LOL.

Hubby and I both have our phones now and both of us are struggling to use them. We thought they were similar but they aren't. We are complete morons with either phone though. LOL. Hubby would like to use his and I really don't care. He has spent hours dealing with his and has accomplished one thing - he says he managed to get my numbers programmed in. LOL. Last night between the 2 of us we managed to get my important numbers put in. I was ready to put the "mother" to bed after that. Kind of sick of it. LOL.

Do you see a trend here? LOL. I am getting some things done though. Lots of things. I am throwing away stuff every day, organizing stuff, putting things away, donating things. It makes me happy until I can get outside again. I am making my own "sunshine"

TC - In the policies I have seen, mold is not covered if the reason for it is not a cause of loss. If a storm rips part of the roof off and water gets in the wall and causes mold, that is usually covered (sudden and accidental . If it is a maintenance related cause, it is usually not covered. I don't recall reading how the mold started - do you know?

Thank you for posting your recipe Ruthann. I can not wait to try it. I am also wanting to try Deidre's bread on youtube but am wondering if it will raise my BG with the vital wheat gluten. Hmmm.... I have a different recipe for ice cream since I use almond milk in mine but sounds almost the same & I love my ice cream maker. I have the compressor type. Totally worth the extra money IMO. Guess I will need to get some chicken... LOL !

I hope you all are having a great day. My knees are still the same but I am pushing through being active. Work was good yesterday. SURPRISE !!! I got out at 8pm instead of 10. Always a nice change.

29 degrees so far today. I went to bed 12mn and back up at 4 bc of knees so feeling a bit tired today. Mold company coming today at 3 to check out wall and mold from bathroom leak. It is 2 stories plus basement. Gonna be expensive. I can feel it in my bones along with the OA. Praying not though. House insurance does not cover mold. WTH ?! Probably does not cover fire either... LOL !!!

Ruth Ann, thank you for that review of your air fryer. After I posted that question and looked more closely at air fryers I also realized that if I'm not worried about healthy fat I probably don't need an air fryer either, lol. But thanks anyway!

Karen I I love my air fryer,, though I sometimes wonder if it defeats the purpose of eating healthy oils because being on Keto I can fry things in good oils or even lard, but it works great, and it does not heat up the kitchen like my oven would, but it is small so I have to cook in small batches like with the wings it took me 3 different racks of wings, so in all it was 75 minutes of cooking them but if you were not cooking as many as I did this last time then you could get away with one cooking time. Mine is a GoWiseUSA 12.7 quart , 15 in 1 it fries, bakes, broils, dehydrates, rotisseries, LOL looking back at amazons add for it I could have done all the wings in one sitting if I had placed all the racks in the thng properly LOL ,, any way Karen I love mine
