Yay!! We're so glad to have you back, June. Hope all is well.

Let's not hang on to winter any longer than we have to. I will open a new cafe for March!

Morning all! I hope everyone got a good night's rest and y'all are ready to tackle the day! Daniel did wake up a couple times minutes apart, but we both went right back to sleep. I slept till almost 9!! That is unheard of for me, but I guess the rain and wind outside helped me sleep even deeper, and I also think that exercise definitely helps with better quality sleep. I'm hoping that after the birthday party, I can get an outdoor walk in. We are supposed to have a few hours break in the storms and rain before it begins again throughout the night.

Be safe today, Monica. That is no fun to drive in. It's tough when you have to drive a good distance, too, and have to take the time and area into consideration, too. Great that your daughter has been consistent in her music.

The ballgame sounds like great fun! I bet you were showing those girls how it's done...lol I would probably show them how to pull a muscle or jam a finger...boy, those jammed fingers sure did hurt!

Not much else going on here. I was hoping today would be entirely free, but the party begins at 1pm....I'm guessing it will last about 2 hours, so I'll still be home well before dark. I've turned into such a homebody in my old age...lol...And I can't believe twenty years ago, I just wanted to go, go, go, and go some more.

Y'all be good.

Deb

Hi Team,

Deb, so happy to see that fundraising amount for the July party. You can spoil the VIPs and their families with that. Hope it keeps coming.

You did well with your videos. I think it is great that you found those short bursts videos. Those are perfect for those days where you just need to get to the room where you exercise. Then the magic happens!

We have had a busy than usual week. It is mid-winter concert season and our basketball season was extended by one week due to weather cancellations earlier in the season. I was out of the home every night this week for an event or practice. We made the last practice for basketball fun and played all the fun games that the girls like. Then we had an impromptu game of 3 coaches v. 3 players breakout (I may or may not have been involved. LOL!) Then it was 3 coaches v. 5 players, then...I think we got up to 10 of them going against us. So much fun. I love basketball. Today we have our last game and oldest DD has a jazz band festival about an hour away. The forecast is calling for rain/freezing rain and so we may have cancellations. I am waiting to see if we get any notifications this morning. They will have to come in early because so many people need to travel long distances to get to these events.

Make it a great day!

Hey ladies! June, I hope you're well and lurking. We sure miss you!

I ended up working my usual hours with Caleb today. It has rained all day, but steady, then tapering off a bit, then steady again. Most of the heavier rain has hit south of us, but it is expected to continue tonight with heavier rain, then severe storms tomorrow. We are supposed to dry out Sunday...or at least begin drying out.

I have missed my outdoor walks, but I put in my dvds and actually went into the room and exercised. The first workout was a virtual walk video with a beach scene. I like it, but it moves too slow for me, so I left it on, then played my playlist on the computer. Tonight's workout was (3) ten minute quick blasts by Leslie Sansone. I think those are my favorite because you think you'll do at least one, and before you know it, you've done three or four. I'm quite proud of myself for adding strength training to the mix with some floor work and some light weights. I have two weeks to get in shape and lose twelve pounds. emoticon

Our walk is two weeks from tomorrow. It does give me a boost of enthusiasm, along with a dose of panic. lol....I don't really worry about not being able to finish because 6 miles for me is doable...not what I do daily, but not out of the question, especially when it is with friends, it doesn't seem as long. However, I do stress a bit if I am out of my league and it is mainly runners in this group and the walkers are in the 5 K...Oh well, worst case scenario is the bus will leave us, and Sue, Alicia and Jessey will have to get the car and pick us up. emoticon Ok, enough negativity!! We've got this!!

I have a birthday party for my niece's little boy who is turning one tomorrow(hubby's side) So many new babies add so much fun to the family.

Life is good.

Deb

We had school today, but we are out tomorrow. Rain is expected tonight through Saturday morning with more flooding and severe weather, including tornadoes. I don't think we have had this much time off for flooding before....we would have an occasional day off when tornado warnings were out for the time we were expected to leave for the am route, and we have let out early due to tornado warnings expected for the afternoon times, but not so much for separate flooding events. I am debating on going to work with Caleb tomorrow. His road floods quickly from both ends of his road. I will see what tomorrow brings...It may be an early day there, too.

I have exercised indoors tonight...Sue and I were hoping to get our outdoor walk in before the rain, but it hit right as we were ending the bus route and had continued pretty strong after I got home. I have a playlist on Youtube with a couple fast songs, a couple slow, then an old gospel song mixed in here and there. I will jog during the fast paced, then do floor work on the slow and stretch and catch my breath on the gospel songs.

Not much else happening here. Life is good. After the rain is over, I am hoping to clear out the building.

Y"all be good.

Hi girls! I hope you're enjoying the snow. Have y'all built a snowman or igloo yet? We thought we would have the day off today due to more flooding, but it slacked off enough mid day that the ponding on roads had enough time to dry up a bit before the next round tonight, then slacking off tomorrow day, and back again Thursday, part of Friday, most of Saturday, then ending afternoon on Sunday. It is definitely a wet season for us! I noticed several more red trees today....barely budding enough to have a faint color showing. A couple of the kids even noticed it on the bus asking why they were blooming when it was still winter. They notice more than I think sometimes.

Exciting news that we now have over $1000 raised for our Christmas in July fund! I am amazed each year! I try to not think about it because I don't want to burn myself out by the time it gets here, but when I see those numbers, I cannot help but get excited. I found a pair of white ice skates on Traders Post for $10. She ended up giving me a pair of old men's brown ice skates, so I may have to decorate two old sleds with ice skates, mittens, and winter decoration draped over...a His and Hers. My dad is supposed to make some wooden base centerpieces for the tables that I will fill with pine cones, fresh cedar, spruce, pine...whatever I can find. He seems excited to help....I always ask to show me how to make them because I want to help, but I think he honestly enjoys when he knows he is helping with something for the kids. My mom loves to paint, so I may buy the paint and ask her if she would paint them with the old rustic distressed look.

We will see what the school systems do for tomorrow and Friday?? Who knows? The days I think we'll be off, we go, and the days I think we will go, we are off. I'm just glad I'm not the decision maker because it is a job where no one is happy no matter what the call.

Hope y'all have a wonderful rest of the week. Enjoy!

Deb

Hi Team,

We are up to about 8 inches of snow for this event. Still very manageable at these temperatures and conditions. I got a lot of catch-up items done for work today. DH did all the manly shoveling of snow.

I love the old shows -- enjoy them with your new cable set-up, Deb.

Make it a great week!

LOL...sounds like something my husband would say! Auto parts store, Lowes, Home Depot...anything manly.

We are expecting more flooding here with rain through Wednesday. I will have to take some photos of the buttercups and pinkish purple trees so when the frost or continued rain washes the blossoms away, I can be reminded that yes, they were there. Hang in there, girls, spring is on its way.....Glad you're enjoying the snow! Hopefully the girls can get out and enjoy since the weather is cooperating on that end.

Hope your dedicated workouts will help with soreness...Tell your hubby that would be quite manly if the neighbors saw him shoveling the driveway. :)

Hubby and I switched to AT&T cable. I am extremely pleased with all the extra channels that I have missed, especially on weekends and off days. With our old service, we paid about $40 more and did not have several of the channels with the older shows I enjoy so much...Three's Company, Little House on the Prairie, Mama's Family, Matlock, etc. We have all those now. I'm excited! Since the weather outside is not cooperating for outdoor walks, I have really enjoyed these.

Y'all be good.

Deb

Hi Team,

Deb, you guys hit the jackpot at Sam's Club! The Hobby Lobby story reminded me of this one. When our girls were infants, DH was great about doing all the errands, grocery shopping, etc., on the weekends so that I could stay home and nurse the infant daughter as needed. Kind of a way to catch up and reconnect with each baby after working outside the home on weekdays. One Saturday afternoon, I had the girls out in the backyard to enjoy some fresh air. Our neighbor came up and asked if DH was home and could he help her hubby move something. Innocently, I said that he was at the grocery store and I would send him over as soon he got home. So then DH gets home and I relay the message. "You told them what?!? Next time that happens, tell them I am at the hardware store or out buying lumber." We always chuckle about that.

We are getting the loveliest snow fall today. At least 6 inches has fallen since last night and it is still coming. The soft white snow, without wind or bitter cold, is the best. We will have our work cut out for us getting it shoveled later today. Will be interesting to see if two months of dedicated time spend working out with strength training videos will keep me from being sore. Or maybe I will volunteer to make hot chocolate and send my crew out to clear the driveway.

Make it a great day!

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing okay. Glad your girls enjoyed the game, despite the loss. I remember me and my teammates being so upset after a loss, then ten or fifteen minutes later, life went on as usual. If you play enough, you will eventually lose.

Yes, Caleb's fishing birthday is right up his alley. I hope he has had a better weekend than the past few weeks. He has been on the verge for quite a while, and I hope he has gotten it out of his system for a while.

Hubby and I went to Sam's Club last night. We bought an annual membership for $45, then got a free rotisserie chicken, 2 free slices of pizza from the cafe, a free sundae and instantly got $45 dollars off a purchase over $45. We were in Heaven!! Daniel had the pizza and sundae, then we stopped on the way home at Hobby Lobby(his choice...he was looking for lettering for the hot dog cart) He was really amazed at everything they had and said he could see why I could spend hours in there. I told him I was going to tell all his buddies that Hobby Lobby was his new favorite store so they could give him a hard time about it.

Well, surprise, surprise....it is raining again here. Today is supposed to be fairly warm, but you sure couldn't tell it now. 60s seem a far cry from this mornings temps, so we will see. Hoping to finally go outside and play around with the hot dog cart. It is under the carport covered, so even if it is raining, as long as it gets warmer, then I should have fun with it.

Daniel is once again complaining about a toothache. Again, I am not sure about the extent of it because he had no complaints until he was eating pizza and chips at Joy Center and said the pizza 'hurt' his gum....he was on his second plate, so I am thinking the hard crust or a chip just cut his gum a bit. I think if it was his tooth, it wouldn't have been such a sudden complaint.

I have got to get busy on this house...the deeper clean things...cabinets, closets, under beds, etc. I also need to weed out old clothes and take them to a donation bin.

Life is good here. We are getting used to Ginger's absence and know she had a great life. We know Micah is not suffering anymore, and we know there is nothing we could possibly have done to change anything. Micah does have a birthday coming up, so I am hoping it is looked upon as a time of celebration and not of sadness for the family.

Are you off for Presidents' Day, Monica? Joy Center is open, but the schools in our district are closed.

Y'all have a great work week.

Deb

Hi Team,

Wow, I cannot imagine seeing buttercups and flowering trees. Enjoy that! We are definitely looking forward to spring around here. We have a couple more snow storms coming in the next week or so. Better now than in April!

Love that Caleb was celebrated all day long. Should have guessed that his gifts would have the fishing theme.

Hope the kids have a great trip -- Japan! Wow!

We had a fun basketball game this morning. The girls did not win but they played together and enjoyed the competition. I have my groceries and errands done. No more outings planned for the weekend, which is how I like it.

Make it a great day!

Hi girls! Hope everyone is well. We haven't had any snow yet, but more and more rain! So much that buttercups have bloomed and even the pink/purpleish trees are in full bloom! I've never seen them bloom this early. It reminds me spring is on the way, but after many more frosts and freezing temps, I am reminded that winter is still hanging on, too.

Not much happening here. Yesterday was Caleb's birthday. I figured since it was a once a year event, I would not make him lose all his outings. We did not have our sit down meal, though, because we just did not have time, but I played that to my advantage saying his behavior had to be good consistently before we went for a sit down outing with friends. We went to Bargain Hunt because one of the workers there wanted to donate in his honor toward our gofundme page. She also sang Happy Birthday to him, along with others in line and shoppers in the store. At Starbucks, every customer and worker in the shop joined in, cheering, whistling, hollering and clapping , and wishing him well. He opened his gift bag there, which included a card and $10 from Ellie, an outdoorsy build a bear from my next door neighbor, and a huge fleecy throw with a great big bass on it from me. He was grinning from ear to ear with all the extra attention. When he got home, he had a new fishing pole waiting on him.

Less than a month till we leave on our trip!! yay!! Also less than a month for our 10 K walk for Special Kids. I have a long way to go fitness wise. I enjoy walking....I just struggle with indoor workouts. If I just go in the room and pop in the dvd, I'm motivated,, but for some reason, I haven't made it to the room yet. When I walk outdoors, I feel like I could walk on forever, but the weather has been so soggy, and by the time we finish, it is almost dark. I will be so happy for the time change and longer days!

Hubby left to take Alicia and Jessey to the airport to leave for their trip to Japan this morning. They had to be there by 5 am. I love them, and I would have taken them if they had asked, but I'm glad they asked hubby first. :) I got a good night's rest, which hasn't happened in a while because of Daniel's IBS issues.

Not much else happening here. Y'all be good.

Deb

Hi Team,

That was quite a day with the bus. I never thought about having to contend with the safety arm while trying to maneuver the bus out of a parking lot. You two are a great team and found the humor in the situation. Poor Caleb. He is probably sick of the weather and wondering when he can go fishing again.

We had a snowy week and more snow is forecast for this weekend. It's all normal amounts for this time of year. We had two nights of evening activities cancelled because of blowing snow and poor visibility. That was fine with me. No need to be out driving in those conditions.

I have a long list that I want to tackle this weekend. I also want to be more active than I have been the last few days.

Make it a great day!

Hi girls! Hope everyone is well, warm, and staying dry. We are having more rain. There is some localized flooding a few counties west of us, but nothing major here. The creeks are starting to overflow, but even the few roads that are flooded, there are back roads and detours to get around.

Exciting news about beginning the indoor garden. It's always fun to have stages that remind us of things to look forward to. I used to not care much for the month of February, because it is still usually cold, but I look forward to Valentines, birthdays, then the buttercups bloom toward the end, and shortly after, March is here.

I'm wondering if I am the only one who ever laughs at times when it is totally inappropriate? You know, like in church, a wedding...oh my goodness, a funeral...Yes, I have, but it was not out of disrespect...

.Ellie and I were dropping off our first child yesterday. We have to pull into a church parking lot for drop off since it is at an apartment complex. There is a chain link fence directly in front as we pull back onto the road. Ellie has driven a bus for over 20 years, and until now, we have never had a bus that has the front arm that automatically comes out in front of the bus. It allows the driver to see the children better since if they cross in front of the bus, they have to walk several feet in front and around the arm. She made a wide turn because there was a car that waved us on to go ahead. As we were turning, we heard a loud clicking. We both looked at each other because we knew the road was clear. I thought it had to be a low hanging cable wire that sometimes will get hung on the top of the bus, especially after lots of rain, wind, or storms. Neither of us saw it because we were looking up. As she began to pull up again, I saw that the arm had poked through the holes in the fence and was just popping along. She stopped the bus, thinking she could 'fix' it, but then realized it was too bent, way crooked, and too heavy to fix. I guess why I got so tickled was watching her trying to fix this thing when it was all bent our of shape. I straightened up pretty quickly as to not be a bad influence on the kids emoticon , then looked over at one of my children with autism, and he is rocking back and forth, literally cackling as he looked over at the crooked arm. If y'all have ever been around an person with autism, they are sometimes in their own world,...they laugh when nothing funny has happened, sometimes are upset and you can't figure out what triggered it, but this time, he totally knew what had happened, and he thought it was hilarious and was laughing appropriately. Ellie, of course, was laughing at herself (thankfully) I felt so bad for her because if there is any sort of accident, the drivers lose their safety bonus. She kinda just chalked it up as it could have been worse and figured at least one of our students got a good laugh out of it. We ended up having to change buses, unload and reload all our children, including two wheelchairs and a walker. (We were missing one student in a wheelchair, or we would have been even later.)

Caleb and I are at home today. He has been on the verge of losing all outings for about a month now, and he finally had his meltdown. I am trying to find constructive things to do so it is not a wasted day. Right now, I have a big pot of white beans with ham on the stove, a meatloaf, and a pan of homemade saulsbury hamburger patties in the oven. I also had a mouse that got into one of my cabinets before he met his demise, and I need to clean up all evidence and bleach the cabinet out good. Those nasty little varmants!!! Maybe I need a cat instead of three dogs.

Not much else happening. Hoping to be more active this week than last.

Y'all be good.

Deb

Hi Team,

Exciting that the food cart paperwork is moving along. Something to look forward to this Spring. We are just one month away from the time to start some of the garden seeds indoors. We will grow some plants up indoors and then transplant later. Always good to have something ahead during the winter or else it becomes a long season.

We are expecting snow today. I am going to enjoy staying inside and cozy.

Make it a great day!

Way to go on your workout, Monica. I am sitting here debating whether I am going to get up and move or sit here till doomsday. emoticon Decisions, decisions, decisions. No outdoor walk for me, so it will probably be a 10 minute quick fix workout that will hopefully turn into at least one or two more 10 minute sessions.

Hubby got part of the cart legalities finalized today. He was at the courthouse asking questions and filling out paperwork, paying fees, etc, when everyone was evacuated due to some type of possible gas leak. Crazy....He did call her back, but I know we still have to take it to Nashville to pass health inspection. I'm not sure if he finalized insurance or not as some of those things require them in a certain order...?? Excited for warmer weather and a few practice sessions with a backyard movie first??

Well, it wasn't a snow or a flood day today, but it was a cold day, for sure. Schools went on as usual...there were a few roads that had some standing water, but mainly just in yards. We have more rain set for Sunday night through mid week, on and off, so they're saying we have another chance for flooding. There was also a very small tornado close to where moma and daddy live. It was an EF-0.

My Lil' Louise must have had a ball outside today. She was muddy from head to toe. She is still just as wired and funny as ever. She is always providing constant comedic relief.

Not much going on here. Back to winter time..it is just February.

Y'all have a great weekend!

Deb

Hi Team,

Deb, how fun! I love the hot dog cart. You are going to enjoy that. You have had quite the weather this week. We have been up and down in temperature, too. Today we are back to cold temps with strong windchills.

This week has been super busy, too. Pushing toward being overwhelming. I did "feel" like exercising. Tonight I did one of the videos and now I feel great. So it just goes to prove the point that is better to get started on the exercise with NO EXCUSES. Ha! There is something to that team name we have.

Make it a great evening!

Hi girls! I hope you're all enjoying life! It has been a crazy week here. We had cold and a dusting last week...This week we have had temps in the 70s for four days with flooding yesterday, which closed schools today. We are expecting more rain and storms tonight, so I'm not sure what the schools will do yet. It is about 5 more hours or rain, but yesterday's flood waters receded quickly this morning. The rain stopped most of the day today, then it came a down pour about an hour ago. 78 today, 28 tomorrow morning with a high of only 37.

Sue and I enjoyed an outdoor walk this evening. This weather is my absolute favorite weather to walk in. I love it when it is warm, then the wind begins to blow and you can feel the change in the air with storms rolling in any moment. I got home from the church where we walk only a few minutes away, and it began to pour no sooner than I had pulled in the driveway.

Well, ladies, hubby has a new side business venture. I have fully supported this one...Y'all know he smokes meat...hams, bologna, and BBQ for special occasions. He's been wanting a food trailer, but we talked, and there was just more than we thought we would have time for and too much money for something we weren't fully committed to working. So, we both talked, and we decided a hot dog cart would be perfect...way less expensive and less regulations when it comes to permits and license. We also thought it would be a great fundraising opportunity for Joy Center. It was $3800...a lot less than a concession truck.....It has 4 warmers, a huge cooler space, a grill, all the pots and pans, 3 tanks, and of course, it is attached to the trailer. It also had an umbrella, a cover, a flag banner, and a larger tent. She also sent several coolers to go with it. I think we will have a blast with this thing once we learn all the legalities of it. Hubby's factory will alternate between working lots of overtime to getting off on Fridays.

Y'all be good.

Hi girls! Checking in quickly just because I'm not a fan of the Super Bowl. I went for a 45 minute walk earlier, so I am off to a good start. upper 60s to lower 70s through Thursday, I think. We do have storms possible, but y'all know I like storms, so that is not a bad thing for me.
I cast my vote at Joy Center predictions for the Patriots to win. We will see. Here at my house, hubby picked up some chips and dip, and I made some little ham and cheese sandwiches with hawaiian sweet rolls. They're a favorite of hubby and Daniel.

Hope y'all have a great work week. Hope to enjoy my stockpile day from the bus tomorrow. Get my permanent crown on my tooth on Tuesday. I will be glad when it is finished, then on to the next one. lol

Y'all be good!

Deb

Hope to see you both in the cafe....This is the month the buttercups start to bloom here. Spring isn't too far away.
