Hi girls! Yes, Daniel forgot about his ear pain for a bit. (It was back this morning, but nothing that seemed too severe.) Actually, it was more his throat, then I would catch him occasionally throughout the day with his head hung and playing with his ear..He keeps telling that it's popping, which seems to give some relief. I wish Spark would allow me to post the videos. He's got over 1500 views on one of them. He's so funny and dramatic.

We had our dinner today. I made broccoli casserole, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, chess squares, coconut/pineapple cake and two buttermilk pies. These were fairly easy since I made all the desserts the day before. The Christmas Parade in town is tomorrow. I plan on making two crock pot soups, one potato and one either a white chicken chili or a taco style soup...haven't made up my mind yet. I like making them early, putting them in the crock pot, then decorating the house, all before going to the parade so we can look forward to a hot bowl when we get home.

My brother and sister in law finally got back with mom and dad. They are having Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow, but since it is the day of the parade, I won't be going. Daniel has been going to the parade probably since he was a baby...only a week or two old. I hate to miss, especially since it has been a rough year for them, but we will definitely plan Christmas. We are wanting to get new floors before then, and I would love to host, but my husband chose to go deer hunting rather than painting like he promised over the holidays, so we will see. I am still a tad bit annoyed with him. All he needs to say is, "Deb, you were right....I was wrong." lol He knows I like decorating for the holidays, and part of my living room is bungalow gold and other areas(not so inconspicuous) are a light gray. It's a splotchy mess right during the time I actually like to clean and decorate. emoticon

Not much going on here. Looking forward to a peaceful Sunday with a laid back plan after the parade. Always such a fun time, especially for Daniel.

Y'all be good.

Deb

Hi Team,

What a way to celebrate the big 3-0. Look at all those cards! Love the "hot dog!" card. Boy, is that one perfect for Daniel. Hope he is feeling better now.

Make it a great evening!

Hi y'all! We have had a busy, non-stop day today. I had made a FB post on Saturday requesting birthday cards for Daniel, no money or gift cards necessary, just a simple, even a hand made card to boost Daniel's spirits. The plans to go to the Mile Long Go Kart track in Kentucky is postponed until after his surgery. Thankfully when I called the first time, they do not take reservations for parties or anything, but they do offer package deals. We will go there or do something similar for a belated birthday celebration when he is feeling well and the weather cooperates. I was hoping to get this over with because the weather during November can still be quite pleasant, but usually by December, nice warm days are less frequent.

Here are the results of my post....Ok, remember, I made this post late, so there will be more coming Friday and Saturday.

So blessed that my boy is loved by so many. (I have a video, but it won't let me upload it) It was of him going to the mailbox and seeing all those cards.)

Hi Team,

Wishing Daniel a happy birthday!

No snow here. The 5K with your kids sounds like fun. Great day to do it when you do not have to rush back and fix a holiday meal. We are starting on the baking preparations today.

Thankful for the spark friendship we have!

Hi girls! Enjoy family time, y'all! Any snow where y'all are now? Lots of rain here today...the continuous heavy, then occasionally slacking up a bit before the second round hits. Thankfully most of it held off until late this evening after shopping.

Y'all know, I never really grew up with my cousins and relatives like most did. Since all of my dad's siblings passed away young, I had no first cousins on that side. My mom had several siblings. Some of the ones that lived fairly close, I would see once in a while, and we always got along well, but usually never saw them unless we happened to be at my grandmother's house at the same time. I had a set of cousins in Indiana and Mississippi growing up, and we would see them maybe once every year or two and would have a blast, but that was about it.

A few of my mom's siblings turned to addictions, and that kind of divided the family...My parents weren't being judgmental, just realized they didn't want to be around the drugs and alcohol. I remember when they would stop by my grandmother's house at the same time as others who had been drinking or high, someone would usually pick a fight, and y'all know anytime there's alcohol and drugs involved, it usually doesn't end well. I just remember being somewhat distanced from some of them.

My back pain is much better. Today it just kinda feels like when you've been shopping or standing on your feet all day and have that slight ache in your lower back. If I had known it would not have gotten worse, I wouldn't have been so freaked out about it, but it was just the thought that if I could pull a muscle by sitting down, then it surely wouldn't take much more to totally screw it up. lol Thankfully, all is well, but I am definitely adding a pilates/yoga/stretch session for the next exercise thread. Alicia and Jessey are wanting to do our own 5 K Thanksgiving morning with me. lol I had just told Sue there were several 5 Ks for Thanksgiving morning, but I told her I really wasn't sure that I wanted to have to get up on Thanksgiving to walk a 5 K with all the other stuff going on. I figured since as far as I know I will not be cooking for my family, then I will walk it. Was kinda looking forward to sleeping in, but love that they want to hang with their mom and mother in law, so I am in!

My baby will turn 30 tomorrow!! My Irish twins...Alicia will be 31 on December 20. I feel like I should be 30! Crazy how time flies. He went bowling today with a few friends. His ear pain seems lessened quite a bit. I can hear him in his room clanking pennies and 'counting'...When his ear is bothering him, I will hear him talking to himself, "Mama, ouch, doctor fix" He had therapy yesterday, so maybe it is really helping until we can get his surgery.

Not much else going on...Went shopping today with my mom and Alicia, then took mom home and sang with daddy some. Caleb enjoyed everything...he just likes going. it doesn't matter where.

Y'all be good!

Deb

Hi Team,

I cannot imagine how difficult the holiday gatherings and birthdays are without Micah. Deb, I know you all are missing him.

We arrived at my sister's place yesterday. Enjoying life in the country and spending time with family we do not see often. June, I am enjoying seeing my grown nieces and nephews spend time with my younger children. I used to spend all my time playing with them when they were younger.

Deb, this morning I heard an advertisement for Ollie's. I know that is one of your favorite stores to visit on date night. Hope that the backache/pain disappears quickly. I always get annoyed when something like that happens to me. It always seems like the simply things that set it off.

Make it a great week!

Sorry you are having a rough patch Deb. It will be sad, the first Thanksgiving without Micah. He was so very brave and too young by our earthly reckoning.

Hi girls! Hope you're continually enjoying life, family gatherings and delicious feasts.

We will be having hubby's side on Saturday. I am not sure about my side or if they are up to getting together this year. I have postponed texting them as I am not sure how to approach the subject since last Thanksgiving was the last holiday with Micah. I am going to ask tomorrow so I will know one way or the other with no pressure either way.

I will work Monday on the bus, then I am off. I have worked extra hours with Caleb, and I have requested Thanksgiving Day and the day after off. I will also be off Christmas and get off early on Christmas Eve without working the 2nd portion of my day since Tuesday is one of my two long days. That will leave me 8 hours in case of a snow or ice day.

Y'all, my bus kids were about to do me in. I got on the bus Thursday, and I was about ready to retire at 50! They're not bad kids, but my bus has NO SEATBELTS!! My main rules on the bus that the kids in the past have known were...Wear your seatbelt, hands to self, and no eating on the bus(choking hazard)...They've always known that I am lenient on most things, but if you break one of those three, it was serious.

I told Ellie when we got this new bus in Fall of 18, that it would be the death of me. We do have some car seats, and although some of the bigger kids will fit, I have allowed the older children with no mobility issues to just sit in their seat and reserved the car seats for the smaller and less mobile kids and also the extra students we have occasionally all go in them. I was at my wit's end the other day when no matter how much I asked, no matter which tone I used, every time I would turn around, almost every single kid was turned around with feet in the aisle, pillows flying hitting the other, one shot a bird, one said the "F" word, one crying cause the little boy was going to tell the little girl's mama that she said the 'F' word at school, then he repeated what she had said, which then stirred up the rest of the kids. I decided when the kids got on the bus again, we would ask for two more car seats, and I strapped their little butts in for the entire route. Oh, I heard, "It's too tight, I don't need a car seat...I'm a big boy(or girl), these are for babies," etc...It was a totally different route...Again, they're not bad kids, they're just a very loud mixture of kids, some with ADD and ADHD, which literally does not matter how hard they're trying to sit still and keep their hands to themselves, it doesn't last long. Then to top it off, I went to sit down Friday on the bus and pulled a little something in my back...Not bad, just enough to get my attention. I've been doing stretches today to loosen it...it's not really my back, but my right hip area. It doesn't hurt when I walk, only when I go to sit down or get up.

First a cold, then this...This old gal is falling apart...How on earth do you pull a muscle by sitting down? Old age is not what it's cracked up to be...but seriously, I am thankful it is a minor issue, not completely down in my back like so many others who have experienced slipped discs and all.

Hubby and I also painted today. I really didn't want to and was sorta annoyed with him since I was hoping to start last week so I could enjoy my weekend. He didn't want to because he wanted to paint the ceiling first. I told him it probably wouldn't matter if some of the paint on the ceiling splattered on the walls because the walls would require two coats. So, today he says he wants to go ahead and start on the walls. I said, "You told me you didn't want me painting the walls last week because you were wanting to paint the ceiling first." He said, "Well, I got to thinking, we can paint one coat on the walls, then I can do the ceiling...We'll probably need two coats on the walls anyway. " GRRR...Isn't that what I said? Sorry, y'all, I'm just annoyed. So he heard what he wanted to hear, but only when he wanted to hear it. emoticon ....Men..

Well, life is good. Daniel's ear has seemed better the past couple days. He seems sore after therapy, but much better after a few hours. This has lasted a couple days, which is much longer than in the past. He has complained some about his throat, but not crying in pain like with his ear. Tylenol and Ibuprofen seem to relieve the throat pain, but not the earaches. I called the doctor's office yesterday to see if they have heard any date on his surgery, but I haven't heard back yet. I was hoping for before his birthday, but now I am hoping before Christmas so he can be back to his jolly self for the rest of the season.

Y'all be good....sorry for the rant. Going to do some more stretches, then watch a little television before bed.

Deb

Hi Team,

Love the family celebrations and special meals, June.

We are headed east to visit my sister and her family. I started the exercise thread for the coming week. I am going to take a break from the exercise thread while we travel next week. I sure do enjoy my morning routine of video workouts. Never know if the next one will be yoga, strength, cardio or a mix of them.

Make it a great weekend!

Hi Team !!

Monica, kids are funny and so charming when their energy and enthusiasm is in high gear. I love kids, I miss the spontaneous dynamics they bring. We are all adults in my family now:). My sister has 4 grandkids, sometimes I hang out with them with pure enjoyment. It is a rerun of when she had kids well before me and I used to hang out with her kids.

November 21 was Silvia and my brother's birthdays. My mom had her oldest child and her youngest grandchild born the same day for 6 years until my brother's daughter was born. I made a special meal and cake at noon for my brother and his friends and a special dinner meal for Silvia and we had Carson, his parents, DH and myself gathered for that celebration. I was exhausted the next day but it felt good and so worth it.

Deb you are always busy with worthwhile activities and adding your zest and humour to the mix, I love reading about what you are up to.

Hi Team,

Thanks for asking about our youngest. She is much better today and has her energy and enthusiasm back. I think she is making up for two days of being sick by talking non-stop about everything. Good to have our girl back to health. I have had a nagging sore throat all day and I am wondering what might develop. It's that time of year.

The week is flying by for me. I need to a get move on to finish supper so that I can squeeze in a few work items tonight. I am roasting butternut squash, sweet potatoes, apple, onion, and garlic to make a soup.

Make it a great evening.

We've missed you, June! I'm glad all is well. Funny that Tennessee has seen its first snowfall...well, sorta.... if you could call it that. emoticon , before you have seen the first snow in Canada. I guess the 'Wet Coast' may get as much rain as it does snow, huh?

My grandmother had a small area of grapes when I was little...I don't guess you could call it a vineyard because it was just a very small are of trellises behind the house. I loved it and enjoyed eating the fresh grapes. I think she may have had other reasons for it, and I don't think it was just for making jams and jellies. emoticon

Life is good here. I cough on and off for about two hours in the mornings to get rid of morning congestion, then feel almost back to normal the rest of the day. Maybe I need to plug in Daniel's humidifier to help with that, but that would mean I would need to clean it out first since it hasn't been used in a while.

Caleb and I are about to begin our day....Hopefully we will sell out today. I have two boxes of candy bars left. Hubby will take one to work tomorrow if his HR lady will be there. She usually sells out in less than an hour.

Y'all my house is a mixture of Fall and Christmas right now. I ordered a Christmas quilt set that has a candy theme with peppermint, gingerbread prints on it. I like buying or keeping something each year that reminds me of our Christmas in July Party. I saw this on Amazon without even looking for the Candyland theme, so it is an early present to myself.

Melissa commented at Joy Center yesterday that she was shocked that I did not have one of the two bathrooms decorated in the holiday theme. I told her I couldn't make up my mind which holiday to go with...lol...Living room, kitchen, dining and one bath are all Harvest/Fall themed, while Zelda Louise's room and our bedroom have more Christmas, while the other bathroom is a hodgepodge and Daniel's room is just a mess all the way around. He did ask for me to get his Christmas blanket out today and put it on his bed. He's been asking about the tree, but we are going to wait till after Thanksgiving...not because it is a superstition or anything, but simply because we are supposed to paint and put new floors down the week of Thanksgiving and I don't want more clutter to have to move. I don't know what my husband is thinking, but I do believe he will regret it...He has that week off from his work, but he will be smoking hams, hunting, and laying floors, not to mention the Thanksgiving dinners. Men....

Not much else happening. I better get up and start our day.

Y'all be good.

Deb

Good morning team !!

Hope you are all well. Are you recovered from your nasty cold, Deb? How is your youngest today, Monica?

We have had a few frosty mornings, but no snow yet. The grape vine has no more leaves, so the remaining grapes are easy to pick and sweet, like ice wine grapes. I am still picking grapes and apples from leafless trees.

Yay for awesome fundraising results and kudos to Daniel for being a champion salesman !!

Life is busy, but also very good. It is a good time to count our blessings

Keep moving, make it a great day, drink your water, and y’all be good !!

Hi girls! Hope your baby feels better soon, and the rest of you stay well. It was quite miserable for a few days, but I'd still rather have all the congestion, headaches, sore throat and tired for a week than the nasty old stomach virus for a day. I'd actually rather have neither.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend...A little fun and games with excitement, then some down home relaxing time with friends. Can't beat that!

We are on our last run of our candy bars this week. We have another candy/cookie bucket sales that another caregiver has presented and sent order forms home with the VIPs. She's going to buy the cute Christmas buckets and let the buyer choose up to three of the choices, getting a dozen of each for a total of three dozen. She's so meticulous with everything she does, so I'm sure she'll come up with a great ribbon/design to set it apart. We already have some orders, and we will begin filling after Thanksgiving to get them ready before Christmas.

I just bought 8 boxes with the last purchase of candy bars on Friday. As of today, we only have 4 left. We have had such a wonderful turnout, sold about 60 boxes and after the last four are turned in, we should have a profit of over $1000, and that's with paying back Joy Center's other account the original $200 used to purchase the first 6 boxes, even though it was a 'donation' to get us started.

I posted on FB last night that this may be our last batch of chocolate bars, and that even if we did decide to sell more, it would be at least after Christmas, so Daniel said they better get them now. Within an hour, we had two of Alicia's friends stop by to buy $10 each, got an 'order' for 20 dark chocolate, another $10 worth from a teacher I saw today and a neighbor requested 5 dollars worth. Another friend got a $10 order, then when she realized we won't have more till at least after the holidays, she got 10 more....so there's a box and a half there, then another friend messaged me that she wanted to purchase a box. She stopped by this afternoon.I'm kinda disappointed to see it ending as it has done so well, but I also said from the beginning that I didn't want to have a lot of candy bar boxes at my house during the holidays getting mixed in with all the other extras I have around here. This will give us time to spend time with our families, regroup, then decide if I'm up to starting it again. What a wonderful run this has been! So thankful for such a supportive community!

I can't believe Iowa had a -3 temp already. I am freezing here when the lows are in the 30s.I wore my Uggs the other day, and I have ordered more beanies and winter knit hats and scarves to get me through. The massive snowfall we had was unusual for November..ok...well, maybe it wasn't a 'massive' snowfall, but it was still kinda odd to have it in November.

We will be having Thanksgiving Dinner at my sister in laws house for hubby's side. Not sure what my side is doing yet, and we are a little unsure how to approach since that was Micah's last holiday with us, and I am not sure if they are even wanting to have a dinner. Gonna give it another day or two before I ask. Hopefully everyone will want to get together.

Not much else going on...Hoping I sleep well tonight. For some reason I didn't sleep very well last night, but it could have been that I slept till 9:30 Sunday morning! 9:30!! I think I've only slept that late a couple times in the past several years, and that was usually when I had been sick with the stomach bug or maybe when I had a yard sale the day before. lol

Y'all be good.

Deb

Hi Team,

Wishing you a strong start to your week. We had a busy weekend. Two basketball games on Saturday and cookie baking/lunch with friends on Sunday. Life is good.

Deb, hope you are feeling better. Our youngest has a cold and by yesterday evening she was running a slight fever and not feeling her best. Eager to see how she feels this morning.

We had snow on the ground when I got back. It snowed twice while I was gone. It rained yesterday and melted the snow.

Make it a great week!

Hi girls! Yes, Monica, I am a sight! All this because I refuse to go to a doctor..especially for a cold that will have to run its course. We were missing two of our kids today, then three more went home, and one came out with the teacher to say they haven't felt well today. We have eleven total, but this afternoon, we had another driver's kids, too. We were also informed head lice was going around...I have itched ever since they told me. Just the though of it....Ellie sprayed the bus down with Lysol yesterday for viruses, and today she went to get some pesticide for the bus. Wow! I am not safe anywhere I go on that bus. emoticon

Hope you have a safe trip home! I know you'll be thrilled. Was there snow in Iowa yet? If so, was it as much as we got? lol The kids were still talking about the snow, even though it was only small patches in the shade or on a roof.

I'm waiting on Daniel to get home. Alicia and Jessey took him to a wrestling event in Nashville for an early birthday gift. Oh boy! He'll be wired when he gets home, but I sure hope he had fun and got his mind off his ear pain. Can't wait for him to have some relief.

Not much else going on. I am ready for bed in all my fancy attire. emoticon I know as soon as I doze off, he'll come in like a tornado.

Y'all be good.

Deb

HI Team,

Deb, I hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you have quite the treatment process set up for your cold.

I am headed back home tomorrow. Will be good to be home. The change in temperature will be an adjustment for sure.

Make it a great evening!

Well, if I did throw a snowball at you, it would melt in that weather! lol....For a moment, I had forgotten you were in Florida, and I thought Iowa must be breaking some sort of high temp record. lol Our high was somewhere around 30 today...That was a record breaking low for the high temp. I hope that makes more sense reading it than it did writing it. lol

Daniel's appt. had me in a frenzy this morning. I knew I didn't want to call in or out to work....Not even sure what it's called...it used to be 'call in sick.' Now I hear people saying, 'call out'...either way, I would rather do about anything than to miss work.. Especially now since we are so shorthanded of workers and it would give almost no notice, I decided to just reschedule Daniel's appt. I had asked Melissa via text, and she said as long as roads were clear, she didn't care, but she was concerned and had rather reschedule. I had to leave here by about 8:10 since it was a late day. I had called the doctor's office to cancel and reschedule, but got the voice mail, but it had no option to leave a voice mail, only to call back. About 8:05, Melissa got here and said the roads were clear and she'd be glad to take Daniel.

I hated missing that appointment, but I was so thankful it all worked out and we can get started on setting up this procedure. Hopefully it will happen soon, and my boy will be good for Thanksgiving and his birthday the following day. He will be 30!! Crazy, my baby will be 30...Alicia and Daniel will both be 30 until December 20.

My bus kids are still hacking and coughing and sneezing. Right now, I am a beautiful sight! I have vicks vapor rub on my throat, above my eyes, and behind my ears. My left eye has been matted in the morning, but only puffy by mid day, but with the vapor rub over them, my left eye is super watery, plus I have cotton in my left ear. Yes, I am striking! I'm surprised my husband can hold his excitement with this gorgeous beauty sitting across from him. Just think how amazing I will look by morning if the vapor rub gets in my hair...Ah, yes, I forgot about the hair pulled back in a ponytail with a scarf around my neck to keep the rub from getting in my hair. I need a picture!

How much longer do you get to enjoy the nice weather, Monica? I bet it is tough adjusting to short weather back to the full winter gear. I'm sure you're probably ready to see your family, and I bet they'll be excited, too! And basketball!!

Not much else happening. I was a bad momma and gave Daniel his meds about an hour earlier than normal so I can call it a day early, too.

Y'all be good.

Deb

Hi Team,

Of all the days for snow to come, when you had an appointment for Daniel. Seems like you have an explanation now for why Daniel has so many earaches. He sure has dealt with this for a long time now.

Okay, do not throw a snowball at me, Deb. It was 85 F here today. And in Iowa the low temperature last night was -3 F. I am definitely getting outside as much as I can between the conference sessions. It is a treat to be here for sure.

Make it a great evening!

We had a late day today due to a dusting and some icy spots on the roads. We went in two hours late. Melissa took Daniel to his appointment, and they suggested a balloon sinuplasty which will dilate the sinus cavity on the right side. The CT scan showed some blockage and some narrowing of the passage. Hopefully this will help. I am thankful for these results as you sometimes worry about worst case scenarios. He's still doing therapy. I do think he's got both issues going on..poor guy has been miserable on and off for quite a while now.

Ok, I thought it was so cute today that the kids on my bus were all hollering for me to 'look at the snow!' and "ooh, look, Mrs. Debbie, it's snowing!" (It wasn't snowing, it must have been the powdery snow blowing off the cars or the bus) One little girl told me she was gonna build a snowman when she got home. lol...good luck, sweetheart!

Here's our Tennessee Blizzard, gotta get your bread and milk day.

Are y'all laughing yet? emoticon

Hi Team,

Deb, sorry to hear you came down with a cold. Seems like you did not stand a chance with the kids on the bus being sick. Wishing a good outcome for Daniel at the ENT visit.

I hope to get outside during breaks at the conference. Will be the last chance for warmth until spring.

Make it a great day!

Oh, Monica, I am so jealous! Florida! Why, yes, the high for Tuesday is 34!! 34 degrees in November for the HIGH!! And don't get me started about the lows...teens! Every year I try to embrace the fall season, and I do okay enjoying the pretty fall colors, the pumpkin patches, wearing hoodies and snuggling up under extra blankets...then the first really chilly day hits, and I am done! Stick a fork in me...I am over it!! Oh, chance of snow...yes, few flurries, maybe a few slick spots early on bridges and overpasses.

Well, y'all, I blew my exercise routine this week. Seems like a couple days the week after Halloween, a few of the kids on the bus were coughing and sneezing and complaining of a sore throat. I stayed away from them...I thought, but then all but two kids were not feeling well. I felt like I was playing musical chairs. I have one child per seat, so I kept moving where I felt safe...lol...as soon as I would sit there, that child would cough or sneeze on me...Deep congested coughs, too. I told Ellie that I was not going to catch it, but I guess it caught me...sore throat, ear ache, congested cough, headache. I didn't sleep well at all because of the congestion and feeling like I was strangling on phlegm...yes, nasty....miserable. I tried napping today, but Daniel would not allow it. I was so grouchy because each time I almost dozed, something would wake me up. It hit me a bit on Wednesday, but I said, no, it wasn't happening...Thursday was a little worse, and I was hoping that was the worst of it, Friday after my bus route was when I finally diagnosed myself with a cold.

Daniel goes back to the ENT on Tuesday. I am praying schools aren't delayed because his appointment is at 9:30. They sent the CT scans to the doctor, so I am very anxious to hear and see if all is okay with the sinus passages. In a way I want there to be something showing up that is easily fixed, then again, therapy seems to be helping, but not completely relieving....I just need to know that the problem is found and fixable.

Not much else happening here. Hubby, Daniel and I went to Sam's Club tonight since they had a one day sale. I really wasn't feeling it, but did feel some better this evening...plus, Daniel wanted to pick up 'more' candy to sell. He has become quite the salesman. I purchased 11 boxes tonight. After we sell all these, we will be over 50 boxes...maybe 51 or 52...I have it written down, but I know it's over 50. Crazy, isn't it?

Well, we have a seasonal day tomorrow...65 or so, so I am going to enjoy it before the Arctic Blast hits! Gotta get those beanies, gloves, and scarves out for sure.

Y'all be good!

Deb

Hi Team,

Hope your weekend is off to a great start. We had a lovely autumn day. We got out to play basketball at the neighborhood park. So fun. I leave early in the morning for a trip to a conference in Florida. I got the exercise thread started for the coming week, if you are interested in joining.

Make it a great evening!

Yay for basketball season! Healthy competition is good! So glad your girls and you enjoy it!

I am disappointed that my photos didn't turn out as bright and vivid as the colors...I guess cheap phone equals cheap pics...lol...It really was pretty, especially with the sun beaming through.

I'm not sure why I had duplicates, either...When I went to download the file, I changed three or four times to delete the doubles, but finally gave up. Daniel's photo was him at the Mile Long.

Chilly mornings here lately, cool days, then chilly again at night. We meant to dig out our winter clothes from the loft, but never got around to it. We will definitely need to do that before this weekend...Hubby said flurries was in the forecast. Better go buy milk and bread or these crazy southerners will buy it out before I get a chance. lol....Actually all I ever make sure I have is coffee, creamer and stevia. :)

Hi Team,

What a lovely 5K walk, Deb! Daniel must be a great salesman -- he is outgoing and well-suited for that role. I spy a hot dog cart in the background!

I forgot to share that basketball season began last week. Hurray! I enjoy volunteering as a coach. We have a community program that is balanced in teaching kids to enjoy the competition and grow personally. My voice is a little scratchy from practice. Too much enthusiasm on display. I like to recognize the players when I see a good cut or a nice decision made on defense.

Make it a great evening!

Hi girls! I hope you're all well and enjoying the fall season. I guess it has officially began, the countdown till Thanksgiving and then Christmas. My husband has stated that this is his favorite time of year, too. I definitely enjoy the extra time off and the 'magic in the air' feel. The chance of snow occasionally gets a different hype, too.

Sue and I walked our 5 K yesterday. We walked trails at Cedars of Lebanon State Park, explored a bit, took pictures, and just enjoyed seeing all the pretty fall colors. We had both had such hectic weeks that we were ready for just a leisure walk, and since this was a virtual walk that was we completed on our own time and place, we were not lagging behind if we were in a standard 5 K.

Daniel has another therapy appt tomorrow. I am hoping it continues to help and relieve his pain. I have not heard results from CT Scan, but am planning on calling tomorrow if I don't hear by then.

Not much else happening. If GFS has more candy bars tomorrow, I will be back in the chocolate business!

Anybody wanna chocolate bar?

** Oh, and although I am NOT A FAN of the time change...falling back, I am thankful for the extra hour of sleep...I was not one of these who got up at 'regular time'...nope, I enjoyed that extra hour.

Y'all be good.

Deb

Monica, your comment about soups made me think of something. Here lately, the church where we have Joy Center has been donated lots of food...mainly it is breads and pastries, and in the summer months, they have lots of fresh produce. Here lately, though, they have been having lots of the prepackaged fresh healthy meals that you cook yourself. Everything is included, and it is a meal kit for two. I think they sell this particular brand at Kroger(although I can't think of the brand), but also similar meals at Publix and other grocery chains.

I was really uneasy about trying them...not sure why, but Sue's daughter made one one day. It was a chili made with butternut squash, ground pork, black beans, crushed tomato base, and seasoning. It also came with two individual servings of packaged sour cream, a pack of crushed red pepper and a small bag of cheese to top. I could not believe how good it was, and to serve two people, this was very generous proportions...You know usually when they say 'serves 2', in my family that usually means almost one. lol That was the only one I tried, but now I am definitely going to get more to try, especially since they are giving them away. I did tweak mine a bit by adding tomato paste because I like a thicker chili, but all in all, I thought it was wonderful.

I also have to grill sandwiches when we have soups because soup alone doesn't fill my husband up. emoticon

Hi Team,

Thanks for setting up the new monthly cafe. Great reminder to count our blessings each time we check in, too. So thoughtful.

Another successful Halloween Bash! That is a great turnout with cold weather. It was cold here, too. The number of people out to trick-or-treat was down. Still a fun night and now we are into the lead up to the holidays. I enjoy this time of year.

Glad Daniel is on the path to getting better. Wishing him continued progress.

The cold weather has me thinking of soups. I bought a butternut squash today that I will roast and blend into a soup. I like to have it with a grilled cheese sandwich. I seem to always fix grilled cheese sandwiches or quesadillas with soups. That way those that do not like soup have something filling to enjoy. I like the combination.

Make it a great day!

Hi girls! Hope you're all well. This has been a busy, busy week for us.

Daniel's ear seems better most days. He went back to therapy yesterday and complained of therapy itself hurting some. That actually made me feel better as the first time, it was just relaxing with him wanting to go back more and more. I really couldn't tell if he wanted to go back because he had a cute, young lady who is working with him, if it because it was so relaxing, or if it really did help. I have never heard of anyone having therapy who didn't have some discomfort before getting better.

Last night, we went to a hayride. He woke up this morning saying his ear was good. Who knows? I have not gotten the results of the CT scan. Hopefully, we will know more on Monday.

Halloween was bitterly cold with our high hitting in the morning hours. Rain came in through most of daylight hours, then it just went downhill from there with the temps. It still misted a bit of rain with a bit of sleet, but was dry for our event. We were expecting very few people, and just played it by ear, pulling out only about half of what we usually serve. However, we had a good turn out considering the weather and the fact that we had it out back with less visibility to the trick or treaters and families. We ended up serving about 175 hot dogs(usually about 200-225). I made my usual 8 batches of rotel, and we had almost a batch left. My four pans of chess squares were gone, but we had several cookies left. We had a crock pot of chili and a small pot of beans left, so all in all, numbers were down, but we had a great turnout considering all factors. We had several regulars who said the weather wouldn't stop them from their favorite place to go on Halloween...that made us feel really good, then we had several new ones who were amazed and thankful that they could eat a full meal without having something else to do when they got home and didn't have to rush.

So far, we have sold 30 boxes of candy bars. I take my dad to the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro this Tuesday, so I will be going to pick up more boxes. My goal is $1,000 for this fundraiser, and since we had 7 boxes donated, we are less than $300 away. Hopefully this next batch will put us over.

Well, I have had my week away from the weekly challenge due to all the activities going on and lack of time. Now, I am back, and I am going to get back in the game!!

Y'all be good.

Today I am thankful for being able to sleep in with nothing planned after a super busy week/month. lol
