@MKMMARTY - What a great stove! Are you in a commercial setting there or are you lucky enough to have that at home?

Updating.
Condo is not selling, too much competition. Several new builds have now gone on the market and four or five units in my complex are now on the market. I heard there was a group of investors interested in my place but pulled out because not interested in our complex. Our property manager company is not good and their are rumours of more high levies coming in the near future.. Iím in trouble .. this wonít be an easy sell.
Good news
I was hired to take over the kitchen manager position at a Wellness Center..
I just finished my training , and I cooked on my own two meals already, one early shift 6 - 2 and a late shift 1-8 ..
No meat .. none whatís so ever .. only vegetarian and vegan, Gluten free and dairy free..
No wonder I lost 6 pounds since the beginning of the month..

. Home made falafel, coconut rice, braised red cabbage

( have more phots but once again sparks is not allowing me to post )

There is (or at least, there used to be) a limit of 1000 pictures you can store here. Could that be it? If you look at your "photos" on your SparkPage, does it look like a thousand?

Itís been over a year or longer since I have been on my bike. Last year I wanted to, but because of knee pain it did not happen. Well this week both of our bikes were taken into the shop to get serviced. New tires, lube and a new chain for me.. now we are ready to get on and go go..

My knee feels the strain of the ride, but nothing I should be concerned with. Iím over weight, lacking in exercise.. so what else would I expect.. my butt is more sore than my knee or legs .. I need a padded seat..

our supper was a lamb/ beef donair for me and a chicken donair for Noni. We had a house showing during our bike ride, fingers crossed ...

Yesterday I had an unexpected parcel delivered to my door. I was expecting a bottle opener from Switzerland from a company called Mora. Mora if you remember sent me kitchen knives back in October (Free)

Well yesterday after I thanked this lady for her gift, she said it wasnít from her.. After a little research we figured out it was from her uncle.. Mora is a family run business.

I went for a walk, intended only for an hour. Well when you go out the door and place one foot in front of another, over and over and over... enjoying yourself.... time flies by. Four hours later I called my wife to come pick me up.. Iím so tired and my legs are not moving as they did..
But it was a awesome outing..

This morning.. appointment with the accountant, momís income tax completed. Paid and received a form to go to the bank to pay what she owed. Decided to go for a quick walk before going to the bank in case it wasnít open yet. Stopped to collect more boxes at the grocery store, swing over to the bank.. Bank is still closed. Go home and eat brunch, go back to the Bank. Paid Mom taxes, divided her remaining balance between my brother and I.. we are now finished.. her affairs are finished.. I took my bank draft to my bank and deposit into an account I have set aside for paying my mortgage. I expect next week another lump sum .. if all goes as planned .. I will pay off my mortgage.. A 30 year mortgage paid in ten years.. God is so good ..

Yesterday walk was once more a perfect day to be out. We havenít had rain in such a long time. This isnít good I keep telling Noni.. itís too dry .. forest fires will be bad this year.
well unfortunately I am correct. Later in the afternoon... a controlled burn became uncontrollable. Raging wild now in the area just behind Camp Summit where I worked for ten years is a forest fire. Camp is surrounded on three sides by this fire last night, havenít heard anything yet today.. The fire is spreading fast and many people are being evacuated. Noni who is off because of this virus lockdown, her employer emailed her to let her know that they are also on evacuation notice.. this is over many miles separation .. the fire has spread so far and fast.
Other news ... we are considering moving.. will have a REALTOR looking for us now and Iím waiting for a local REALTOR to come and tell us what we must do to list..
Campbell River is our desired location. Still lots of wildlife, lots of birds, many hiking trails..
How could we ever find a awesome place as Squamish.. well I think Campbell River will match.
It all depends on the price we can get for our condo .. and when it sells..

Today I went for a short walk.. too much smoke is in the air...
photos are from yesterday walk .. enjoy
map of the fire zone and evacuation

My home I hope to leave

Happy Easter.
Today Noni and I watched our pastor live stream the Easter Service on Facebook, then we went for a short walk at the Squamish Terminals Estuary. There were many people out and about but more or less keeping social distance. Can you blame them as the temperature was 18c and sunny. The rains will come eventually, then everyone will stay inside except for those who have dogs to walk or are the die hard nature lovers. I met two friends who like me were out with camera in hand looking for Bluebirds.. none were around today unfortunately.
Noni and I went here because, I was looking for the bluebird and also the plan was to stop and buy milk and eggs at the grocery store on the way back. I donít know about you.. went in only to buy two things and walk out carrying four bags and the milk .. 45 dollars spent ...
we eat way too much..
Now for some photos .. enjoy

Easter weekend..the first 18 years of my life I would pack my bags and go to the summer cottage of my Grandfather. Oh the memories I have.. my first dance, my first kiss, the first time my girlfriend spent the weekend with me, my first cigarette...having my grandfather teach me to put a worm onto a hook and fishing with my father. Memories also flash into my mind of the many people who have passed but are part of the cottage environment. Today walking with my wife on a Good Friday, the warmth of the sun and the smell of the woods awakened these old memories I have tucked away. I have no regrets of remembering my past, even though I have a mixture of joy and sadness tied up in the opening of my grandfathers cottage over the Easter weekends over the years.

White Pacific Bleeding Hearts

Often this would be the time I go for my first swim of the year.. I would sneak away and go for a very quick skinny dip.. often there was still ice on the lake.. with only a little ice free area near the shore.. I was young and foolish if not stupid..

Slowly this exile is beginning to wear me down.. the days are longer and more sunny and the tv has the same things on over and over. Noni and I are glued to watching the news on three or four channels and this is depressing.. then frustrating as I see so many people coming up to Squamish to hidden camp sites and trails that are not regulated. ( I see on Facebook postings from my friends who live in or near these areas.) STAY HOME and / or Stay in Your own Neighbourhood.
Noni and I have been in exile ( self isolation) .. however yesterday we went for a walk. We drove our car literally 5 minutes from our condo to the estuary. Noni has never been on this trail before, I found it only a-couple of weeks ago.
It was pleasant to see all the signs of spring.. Yellow wood violets, Salmon Berries, Horsetails, Skunk Cabbage, Bleeding Hearts and a flowering Red Currant Bush.
I heard some Canada Goose, but never did see any, however I did see some Mallard Ducks, Common Mergansers, Bufflehead Ducks. Some crows made an appearance and Raven sat in a tree looking over its realm. Dark-eyed Juncos were plentiful however they were too quick for me to get any photos. The Robins were very much camera shy, but their song filled the air waves.
When we drove to the trailhead my car thermometer read 8c and when we returned home 12c. While hiking in the covered part of the trail it felt cool but when we entered open sections we definitely felt the heat since we were dressed for the more cooler temperatures

Now for some photos....
Bleeding Hearts

Skunk Cabbage

Yellow wood Violet

Flowering Red Currant

Horsetails

Salmon Berries

Life from a dead source ..

Common Mergansers

Mallard Ducks

Raven

Bufflehead Ducks

It was hard not to pet this pooch, but self distancing was practiced

So everyone Stay Safe, Stay Healthy

Today was a good day to be outside. I walked home from church. Gathered my camera and back out I went to the pond .. not many birds around but it was an awesome walk in the sun. I even stopped to build a small fire, not so successful everything is damp to the core.
Monday ( tomorrow) I have an early morning doctors appointment.. hopefully I will be given the go ahead to return to work . ALSO .. tomorrow afternoon I have a job interview at a childrenís camp. Many decisions .. can I actually do the job as a chef ( standing up those long hours and heavy days) or do I need to change careers? Do I stay working at a senior residence or do I go back into camp ministry.. I have unknowns before me..
that is tomorrow for now we will enjoy my walk today..

I was awake waiting for the sun to peak over the mountains. As soon as I seen it, I woke up Noni and out the door we went. 2.5 hour car ride to reach the destination Reifels Bird Sanctuary. February first .. I had to get outside to start the month off right.. at first not sure if that was going to be .. Squamish had rain this morning and strong winds..
Noni gave me a haircut.. I prepared supper.. moose short ribs into the slow cooker..
I drew some some names from the postcard website.. and got them all written and stamped..
Noni leaves for work and I walk over to the post office and then around the pond. ( the sun came out) This is so exhausting.. I should be able to do this.. oh well it feels like many miles and hours but it was only just over an hour ..
at first I was so disappointed, no birds at all.. then near the end ( my turn around point ) I was blessed .. as always .. the scenery is beautiful especially when the sun is shining

Kingfisher

Hooded Merganser

Northern Flicker

Crow

Robin
what am I to do? My trail became a pond.. I gingerly walked on a fallen branch using my cane and got across. My balance is still in recovery mode .. I was sure I was going to slip in.. but I survived this challenge.

I must show my moose ribs preparation

6 hours later still not tender enough, but it tastes so yummy

Friday is another wet rainy day, so I can post of a dryer sunnier day from this week.
Noni and I went for a short walk, the scenery is gorgeous but not a bird was seen. I did hear a frog..

I have been out and about... I have so many scenery photos that are gorgeous, how to choose the few to post. Pushing through leg soreness, itís almost like camp after working several days 10 to 12 hour days.. ( one of the reasons why I did leave camp) My knee is not the issue.. it is the legs, both legs and when hobbling down a incline itís actually both knees, the left one ( surgery one) causing the more discomfort, but both are letting me know Iím not in my twenties.
Bird life and animal life abounds in and around Squamish BC Canada.. where I call home right now.
I hope I donít bother you or cause you to roll your eyes.. here Marty goes again...
I will try to choose .. letís journey together...
(( I must mention this was in the afternoon on Monday.. I had to go pick up my wife ( Noni) from work after my early morning birdwalk. ))

Roosevelt Elk
Looking very pregnant...

This morning very early, sitting in my chair enjoying the quiet time.. Ring ring.. our phone blasts off and my wife is called in to work .. not sure if she was happy about me waking her up and handing the phone to her. Well I decided to drive her to work and keep the car so that I can go for a bird walk a little further from Squamish.
Definitely no place will be as beautiful as this area if I should decide to relocate..
why.. well .. look at my walk this morning.. very early..

Common Merganser

here is a Harbour Seal . It was camera shy!

It was a pleasant walk as far as the environment.. but my legs are very much a concern.. they hurt and Iím becoming anxious about the idea that I should be returning to work in a couple of weeks ..

I was sitting comfortably in my chair yesterday, the sun was shining and I decided not to waste the day and head out to birdwatch. Well as soon as I got out the sunshine hid .. and it returned shortly after I returned home. Just my lot in life this day..
However it still was a glorious day and Iím so happy to had gone out. I was able to photograph two rare birds for me.. not lifers as I have seen them before but certainly a rarity.. and even more difficult to photograph the one.
Well letís go on a photo journey of my little hobble .. my knee is mending....

Today being Sunday, itís very overcast, I think Iíll stay in this day.. read, watch TV and have a nap.
Iím restless.. I think a change is or should happen.. I have this uneasy back of my mind that we should move ... leave Squamish.. to where I donít know... what would Noni and I Do? I donít know..
all I do know is there is a growing uneasiness.. an unhappiness ....

I think I posted before.. last year was the beginning of major changes..
Not returning to Camp Summit
Death of my beloved Dalhouise
Knee surgery
Death of my Mom.
All things that were tying me down to Squamish have been removed...

A couple of days have gone by, I choose not to use the cane to assist me walk. My knee has new aches and tinges of discomfort
Today is wet, wet, wet. However I went out looking for birds and I sure was not disappointed. All todayís photos were taken from the car window, only thing wet on me was my arm and pant leg next to the door from having my window open.

Yesterday with all the snow it was busy at the feeder. Blue jays, cardinals, woodpeckers, nuthatches, juncos, sparrows, etc. The blue jays even shared the space.

If I had a choice I probably would have stayed inside all day. However Noni my wife had to go to work this afternoon. She has almost zero experience driving in snow or freezing rain. There is none of that in Indonesia. So I decided to drive her to and from work. Well Iím out so after I dropped her off at work I went a little further to a bird spotting area I knew about. White knuckles as I drove down a road that was not plowed and a hill that had me worried about if I could get back up. This is a new car to us, no worries .. front wheel drive and new snow tires on the vehicle. It drove through the snow with not a slip and that hill that I was worried about.. well I was on top before I even realized it was there.

@MKMMARTY Enjoy seeing your pictures! It's great that you are getting out and about. I live on a dirt road, know what the pot holes are like. The road is not as wide as this 1.

Rain, snow flurries and very dark and gloomy skies makes for a decision to stay in.. the icing on the decision was this road we attempted to drive was one pothole to another pothole and I didnít want to damage our car so I turned around.

This afternoon I was going to have a nap, as I prepared to close the curtains because the sun was beaming brightly through the bedroom window, I came to my senses and decided to go for a walk instead.

Times moves on.. emptied Momís room on Saturday and must go to Surrey BC on Tuesday to sign papers and identify her body so that the funeral home can proceed.

Still with that all in my head - I stop and look around me assured that I belong to the Creator of all that is seen and unseen. His love and Mercy and Judgements are right and true, He does nothing poorly or wrong nor unkind .
I am His and He is mine.. Jesus Christ the Son of God..

Well here it is again the beginnings of a new year.
2019, was not so good
Circumstances led me not to return to Camp Summit,
I had to put my Dalhouise down after 16 years of being together
My mother is in palliative care just waiting to die as I write this
I had the long waited knee surgery, Iím still off work because of that.
And so here we are .. Christmas Eve 2019 ..
