So if you burn 600-1000 calories a day in workouts and your only eating 1000 calories a day you're starving yourself. Your body will hold on to each calorie and you won't lose anything. A calorie deficit of 500 calories per day will result in weight loss of 1 pound per week (roughly). Lets say that you have a daily calorie intake range of 1200-1500 calories. You work out and burn 600 of those calories. You're leaving your body with only 600 to 900 calories to sustain life for the day. In general a body needs about 1200 calories per day just to function. IMO you need to up your calorie intake to support your calories burned in workouts. But you need to find the range of calories that fit with what you need/can do. Spark can do that for you. In fact it should have when you signed up here. Go back and recheck what Spark says you be doing for calories. At least that's my thoughts on it.

I am following the guidelines set for me by Spark People and exercising between 10 and 30 minutes each day and I've been steadily losing weight since I started the program.

I was surprised by how much I was allowed to eat when I started. Maybe that's why you're trying to not eat as many calories as you're allowed? At first, I was limiting my calories the way I did when I had tried to diet on my own. But it wasn't until I increased my calorie intake that I started to lose weight.

Do you use the analysis feature at the end of each day when you've finished entering your food. That feature provides a lot of useful information. That was the feature that told me to increase my calories - and healthy ways to do it.

And I find the most important thing for me regarding food choices is to make sure that I eat enough protein and limit my fat to stay within the ranges I've been given. As I long as I do those things, I usually hit the carbs range right in the middle.

And, of course, recalculate the nutrition ranges every time you lose 10 pounds... I didn't know to do that at first and it really made a difference.

I hope this helps. :)

How many calories do you burn each day? 1000 calories a day as intake is very low. And if that's before your workout calories the you are way to low. If we don't give our bodies enough calories to just sustain our everyday life functions then the body will start holding onto every calorie it can. Then we don't lose anything. You need to find out how many calories you need each day to lose weight and still power your body. Hope this helps some.

I know that I shouldnt be scared to eat certain foods as long as they are in moderation, but I am so scared that if I do eat it that I wont stop and then start gaining again. I work out at the gym for at least 2 hours a day and on an average day my calorie intake is about 1000 calories because I don't know if i should go any higher. Does anyone have any advise for me.
