Hello Ladies!

It's FRIDAY! WooHoo!

Northstaarr - I was lucky that I didn't have any graduations this year...next year though! LOL
Have fun relaxing and spending time at the pool. Hope you have a great weekend!

oh - this has been a crazy and hectic month for me. It was seen coming for a while - it was the graduation month of doom.... 7 graduations in a 2 week period of nephews and friends kids. It was a wallet breaker that is for sure(LOL)! I am looking forward to the relaxation that is coming with June and the summer at the pool

today I will affirm that i am a gift to myself and that nurturing self care delivers that gift in its highest form.

Hello Ladies!

First of all, how was you Memorial Day weekend? I took a ride to AR and, boy, was my butt sore! You would think with all the padding I have back there I'd be able to make that 600 miles with no problem...boy did I learn something! LOL It was a really good trip though and a primer for the 1000 mile (or so) trip I will be making in a few weeks. I figure I'll do ~500 a day and hopefully not be to whipped to turn around and come back 4-5 days later!

I want to welcome NORTHSTAARR to the team. Come on in and get to know us.

LAMEXICANFEMALE, hope to see you back in here soon!

I_WANNA_LIVE, how are you doing?

WONTBEBROKEN, how is that water consumption going? Doing better? How is the swelling?

LAMMEYKINS, have we lost you?

ARGUSMOM, hope to see you around again soon!

LOVESTODJ, what's up? Much been going on with you these days?

CWAZYONE, how has school been going?

TAG! It's your turn! lol

I_WANNA_LIVE, this is a journey and not a race. You have the right idea about baby steps. We have to make changes slowly enough that we can incorporate them into our lives and make them routine.
I also posted to you on the other thread so I'm not going to repeat everything I said there other than to send you a big "Welcome".

Hi ladies...wanted to just jump in...I am new here. This is my first day. I plan to be on this site alot. Theres alot of info I want to read and maybe make a friend or two..I like that I can track all of my food. I also believe that tracking my exercise will help to motivate me to do more. Some days I have alot of pain in my knees( DJD ) and some days are ok. A goal is that the days its not so bad, to walk 2xs instead of 1x. Gonna start to change things slowly, and take baby steps. Hope all of you have a great night...

I have virtually cut out soda and most coffee from my daily intake.
It's easy for the coffee now that it is warm, I tend to drink more iced tea when it is warm. But, I still make sure I get at least the 64 oz of plain water every day no matter what else I drink.
My morning is usually either a serving of cream of wheat or oatmeal and 10-12 oz of hot tea to give me that slight caffeine kick start. I often have a piece of fruit with that breakfast or as an alternative bacon (loads of salt in bacon so actually try and stay with the fruit).
Just remember that processed foods have high sodium levels. Read those labels and go for the lower sodium content.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I had an everything bagel with light cream cheese for breakfast and lunch I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat bread. I do eat a lot of salt and should watch it which I will now. I do drink a 28oz bottle of water a day, I should drink more at work and will start lowering my coffee intake. Thanks for your suggestions.

hmmm, how is your sodium intake? Is it high?
I know mine is over limit every day and I should work to lower it. Also, how much water are you drinking daily?
The reason I'm asking is because if your sodium content is high then you can and will retain water and can start swelling like that.
I know that this does not sound right but, if you are retaining fluids/water drink more. The reasoning behind it is that the more water you drink the more you flush out and as you are flushing you will get rid of things like extra sodium as well that can cause you to retain. Make sense?
I drink a MINIMUM of 8 cups of water a day. Yep, in the restroom quite a bit but the weight is coming off and I don't seem to have problems retaining fluids any more. I have needed to start taking some supplements, though, due to cramps. I think I started flushing too many of the nutrients and vitamins that I wasn't getting enough of and it manifested in leg and back cramps. I still get them sometimes but even with the supplements I'm not always getting the recommended daily allowance of all the vitamins and minerals.

Ok so here is a question. I started walking 30mins a day last tuesday. I noticed this week when I come back from walking or during my right hand swells up. I know its warm outside, its like 85 here in NY. I was wondering why the swelling and how come I have not noticed it before

WONTBEBROKEN - It is always easier when your partner buys into what you are doing and is willing to help and participate. Keep up the good work!

Lammey - Great job getting to the gym. Have fun at the Indigo Girls tonight. A friend up in Santa Fe went to see them...last night, night before???

Everyone else...have a great day.

Things are going well for me. I'm down about 4 lbs since I weighed on Saturday. If I keep this up I'll be losing a good bit this week! I don't normally lose this quickly but this seems to be a really good week for me. Several things have happened and I'm not "stress" eating as I have been for the last several weeks. I have generally kept myself in calorie range even with the stress eating but just not felt very motivated. Let's hope I'm back on track! lol

Hello ladies!

Lammey - If you are stressed at work during the week go to the gym to relieve that stress. It works great! Congrats on the promotion...You know, if the sun comes out down there right now after all the rain the last few weeks you are going to be in a steam bath!

LAMexican - Welcome to our chat area. It's great to have you here. If there is anything we can do to help motivate you or anything just let us know!

To everyone else - Have a wonderful day!

Hello Everyone-- This is my first time posting here. Just wanted to wish everyone good luck in the coming week. I tend to put my health on the back burner when work is busy, so this week I will strategize on how to make sure I eat my meals every 2 hours and exercise at the end of the day.

Morning! How thankful are we here in Dallas that the sun is finally out! Now we just need the heat to follow so we can spend our weekends in the pool.

Down five pounds and met my goal of tracking my food all of last week. Only made it to the gym once when my plan called for three times, but I'm okay with that. Need to keep reminding myself that perfection isn't possible.

This week I am shooting to track my food every day and make it to the gym twice. Part of that will entail not using stress at work as a reason to not make it to the gym. I recently got a promotion and the transition from old responsibilities to new responsibilities leave me exhausted at the end of the work day. I'm managing three people now while still training new hires and it's pretty much run me ragged.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for the promotion. I will just be MORE thankful when the transition is complete and I can concentrate on my new management role ...

Hi, sorry haven't been posting lately. Things are incredibly chaotic lately. One of my cats died quite unexpectedly. My partner (it was HER cat) took it very hard and made herself sick. We went to the ER twice in 3 days. She's now using a nebulizer every 4 hours. And of course, because she was sick, I'm now sick. Very sore throat and body aches.

Also, my partner is a school bus driver and this is her busy time of the year with charter trips. So, things are kind of out of control.

I haven't been tracking my food, but my weight is staying steady. If nothing else, I'm aware of what I'm eating and haven't allowed myself to go whole hog wild. Being sick certainly helps, since my appetite is down.

Hope to kick this cold/illness/whatever it is and get back on track.

Hello Ladies!

How are all of you this gorgeous day? Well, it is gorgeous here in Lubbock! It was 79* when I rode in to work this morning and bright and sunny. I truly wish I were out on my bike today. I really hate being responsible sometimes....it's keeping me at work and off my bike riding! I hear Palo Duro calling. LOL

Glad to see you here posting LOVESTODJ!
Lammey - How are you doing today?
Laura - Still hoping to hear how your walk went and how you are doing.

Hope to hear from all you ladies and get some updates. Come on in and let us know what's going on.

Have a great day!

Hi,

Just getting the hang of things here and wanted to meet some "family". My other teams are cool but...

So, I'm trying to make some changes in my life. Slowly, I think I may be getting the hang of things.

SP is making me accountable each day and I need that.

Thanks for the welcome CIRRATX!

I will respect myself and make good choices each day.

Lammey - Good job on the calories, water and tracking! I find that tracking everything is what helps me the most. I am usually in range or slightly low these days instead of constantly high. Also, I find that drinking the water really helps. Not only will it help to flush out toxins the more you drink the less hungry I feel during the day. Also, I tend to have too much sodium through the day (I don't remember a day when it was in range and not high) so the more water I drink the more sodium is flushed you and the less water retention I have...sounds strange but it works for me! lol
My next step is to get back to the gym after hurting my back back in March. I'm hoping I'll be able to get back on the treadmill without too much difficulty.
You have a good attitude!

i'm feeling a little like i'm monopolizing the boards ... probably some level of co-dependence driving that worry. ha! but. things went pretty well today. ate the right amount of calories (generally i'm way above or way under, never right on track) today and feel fabulous about it! tracked my food and drank my water. not bad, i have to admit. had intentions of going to the gym but didn't make it. that's okay. need to keep myself reminded that perfection isn't possible and that beauty is in the betterment of the process.

off to bed! early morning tomorrow. be well!

Lammey - Good to see you here in the monthly chat! And another big welcome.

You know, we all fall off the wagon and slam our faces into something at times! I tend to do it quite often, usually on the weekends when I get bored! The important thing to do is to get back up, climb back on the wagon and try not to fall the next time. We can't beat ourselves up all the time about our falls but we do need to try and learn from them and work on the "why's" of the fall. It will come, slowly but surely!

Have a great week!

The rest of you ladies, come on in and chat it up a bit! It get's lonely in here...

Hello Ladies!

How has everyone's first week of May been?
Mine has been up and down. I had a monster of a headache last Friday that just got worse over the weekend and added lots of aches and pains. I felt like there were shards of glass in my joints! I spent most of the weekend in bed with no TV, music, or lights because of the headache. I finally broke down and went to our on site clinic here at work on Tuesday. Although the doc has been seeing viral infections over the last couple of weeks (we only have ~400 employees and there had been 5-6 diagnosed) the doc didn't think that was what was going on with me (yeah!). My symptoms were very nonspecific. In the examination she noticed that my neck and shoulders were very tight and I was basically diagnosed with a massive tension headache! She prescribed 800mg ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer for me. Now, I'm feeling great! Still have not figured out the "why" of the tension but that's okay. If it comes back I have what I need to send it on it's way. The muscle relaxer makes me so sleepy it's not funny so I've had to only take it after I get home from work and before I go to bed so I can stay awake here at work.

I'm hoping your first week of May and your spring is going better than mine did. I'm back on track though. So, what's up in your lives?

Laura - Don't you need to be a little out of your mind to be in school? I always found it helped! LOL

Good luck on the walk in Huntington Beach. It is for a very good cause and one you support which makes it even better. Good job checking with your physical therapist first. Take the advise and just take it easy!

I think the last time I was at Huntington Beach was when I was a senior in high school in '78...a LONG time ago! LOL Enjoy!!!

Hi!!!! Aww, how you feel better soon!!!

I'm doing good, just trying to finish up this semester of school w/o losing my mind. haha!!

I'm participating in "Walk like MADD" this saturday morning in Huntington Beach. After having recently been in a car accident caused by a drunk driver it's something very important to me. I'll be walking at my slow pace as I still can't walk normal speed yet due to my back still hurting. But my Physical Therapist just said go slow and take it easy which is what I'm going to do.

I have posted a blog about it on my page if anyone wanted to look.

Hope everyone else is doing well!!

-Laura

Hello Ladies!
We are in a new month so we have a new thread...
Sorry it is late, I've been under the weather since late last week. I just wasn't getting things done. Still feeling crappy but have to be at work, so.....

I got notices about a couple of new members and want to welcome them to the team and invite them to join us here on our chat thread.

I also want to encourage all of our members to come in and chat. Pop in, give us and update, let us know if you need some help, share an inspiring story, just talk about whatever!

Hope to see you here soon!
