Hi Group! Will put a short message on our October site and then set up our November "chatting place". Temperatures took a big dip the first day of November and we had to find coats, hats, and gloves to be outdoors. Treasure our team and share what you are doing. Each day is a challenge, but also a "gift". This month it has been 35 years since my mother died of breast cancer. Still miss her and wish she had been able to meet her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She died 10 days before her 65th birthday. My closest cousin also died before getting to that age. Take care, keep those fur-buddies healthy, post often!

Dogs share our lives more completely than does any other animal. Since their domestication, dogs have accompanied and served us in many ways. Two apex predators managed to find mutual benefit in a close relationship that is considered "commensal" -- dogs developed an intense, familial bond with humans.

Glad your husband is feeling a bit better.

Sorry about the neighbors dog, but why wasn't it leashed on in a fenced yard? Having been bitten by a dog running loose years ago, I do have concerns.

Buds and I are both doing so much better. I had a wonderful time yesterday, so am feeling pretty exhausted today.

Hi Group -- It has been a crazy month, so just getting to this site. My husband is still doing the chemotherapy 3-4 times a month. He is breathing better because the tumors have been reduced, but another CT Scan next month will show whether his end-stage lung disease (COPD) is worsening. Originally, the oncologist told us that he was only going to give my husband 8 chemotherapy treatments because those medications are damaging to the lung tissue. During that original set of infusions, he was started on the biologic medicine called "Keytruda". That infusion made him very weak and damaged his thyroid gland. After two months of being shuffled to specialists, we finally went back to the family practice doctor and got some thyroid medication. That has helped my husband's general condition quite a bit. He still sleeps for several hours a day, but is able to do some yard work and drive to see a few of his friends. He can also be off of the oxygen a few hours a day. We know that this improvement may be "short-lived", but it is nice to see him interested in life again. We had a storm over the week-end that brought 3.5 inches of rain to our area from the "gulf" region. We were in a drought, but now things are somewhat better. Another "wave" of storms is coming tomorrow and later in the week. Sad situation with our new neighbor's dog -- I have mentioned that Bella is a pit bull/boxer mix that is only 7 years old. She was owned by the neighbor's father, but he died a year ago of lung problems. She was living in an apartment complex and spent most of her time indoors. When the guy (he is 34 years old) bought the house across from us, he was happy that the dog would have a 2-story home and huge back yard. A few nights ago, she bit another neighbor who was walking by the house. Don't know all the details except that the female neighbor doesn't like dogs and may have scared the dog because she always walks in our area with either her phone on or music via head phones. I have been walking the dog in the evenings with our dog and they are getting along well. It makes us so unhappy that maybe the neighbor who got bit may insist that the dog be "put down". Hopefully I can get the owner to try some training (the dog was probably just protecting its new domain) and also involve the SPCA group that tries to protect these dogs that end up in the shelters all the time because they are so loyal to their owners that they become "aggressive". The dog really is sweet and playful and adores the guy she lives with. In her history is the fact that she was beaten severely by some guys who broke into her former home out in the country -- they were "raiding" the place to get items to sell to buy drugs. She is a small dog -- maybe 35 pounds. Will let you know how this turns out...

That is exciting you get to go back to Nevada. Still holding your family in my prayers.

Buds and I walked around the ball park today. I needed to lay down after, but I also made it to TOPS and took a 1/2 park walk this evening. I did a lot yesterday, so more easily fatigued today. Trying to keep the pacing balanced so I can get stronger without crashing.

Also, my tongue is sore. Think is is objecting to all the antibiotics. So I started some pro-biotics. Hope it helps soon. I may need to find a newer bottle. This one is from spring and has been in the fridge. Not sure how long they are suppose to stay potent.

Here is our posting place for the new month. Talk about anything that you wish. I have been collecting some health information that I will share when I have time. My husband has been able to get to the YMCA and do some light work-outs with his elderly friends. He wanted to keep his membership there. He is able to drive short distances. The wood rats have finally gone back to the woods, so we can put our vehicles back in the garage. Wouldn't wish that situation on anyone. Still can smell where they made nests and our van needs to be cleaned inside and out since they "lived" in and around it for about 6 weeks. Wishing you a fun-filled fall with lots of good days and cool weather and new adventures. We are hoping to move to the desert house sometime in the next few months. My husband wants to keep doing the chemotherapy as long as it helps his breathing. There will be a time that it can't control the lung tumors. Our local son would help me drive to the S. Nevada house. Take care...
