I like the mattress topper but I still had a night that I did not sleep well. Guess it is the fibro.

Karen,

I'm anxious to hear how you sleep with your new mattress topper! Sounds nice!
What a great story about your pine cone tree. I'm sure God used you in her life. She sounds like she would have been lonely if it weren't for you.

I think my favorite Christmas decoration are all the ornaments we have on our tree. A lot of them came from my grandma. I have lots of memories seeing them on her tree, and now they are on ours. Also, my husband and I make sure we find an ornament from the places we take trips to. This makes it really special when we can look at the ornaments and remember the places we have visited so far in our married life.

It is about 23 out & some snow on the ground but not enough to shovel. We celebrated 2 of the great grandkids birthday tonight. One turned 11 & the other 7 tomorrow. we went to the Mexican restaurant.

I need to pick some DVD's up from library. My new player should arrive today & I hope I can set it up without having to ask my granddaughters hubby to come to town. It sure will be nice to read all the words so I get the full meaning of the story in the movies.

I set carolers up yesterday & will bring the pine cone tree out later. The tree is such a special memory for me as I received it about 30 years ago from a retired school teacher. She kept pretty much to herself but took a liking to me. I did her laundry & ran errands for her. Her 2 sons lived several states away. She really had no one to share her life with. She was in her 70's but had really poor health. Lynnette will always hold a special place in my heart & I love the tree.
My favorite decoration is that pine cone tree.

My mattress topper came today. I thought I might have trouble getting it to the bed but it was real easy. I will sleep good tonight!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. My family did. I made stuffing and green bean casserole to share. We usually have some international people at our Thanksgiving dinner as my brother and sister-in-law have a real heart for them, and with the university here, it is very easy to find people from other countries who would like to share a traditional American holiday. It's always interesting to learn about people's stories and their customs and cultures.

We have only had a dusting of snow here a couple times so far, but it is really, really cold outside...single digit windchills today. Cold just penetrates to my very bones!

We have not got out the Christmas decorations yet...maybe this weekend.

What is your favorite Christmas decoration? Do you have one?

I think we must have freezing rain & ice covered roads so I am staying put. I need to load my car up with my donations to thrift store but can do that another day. I plan to drop them off on Monday.

I used the tornado thing to get lint out of my dryer last night so will do some laundry today to see if it worked. I did get lots of lint so guess it needed to be done.

My other goal is to get that soup made & then will post recipe if it is as tasty as it looks!

My favorite dish is mashed potatoes with noodles

Waving to all

Karen, I think it's nice that others in our family host it and we just have to bring a dish or two. Your dishes sound wonderful! I don't know yet, what I'll be bringing. Other years, I have done the stuffing (from box mix), relish tray, or green bean casserole.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

We gather at my daughters house for most holidays. Everyone brings a dish or two. With the grandkids now married & having kids we are a huge bunch but not everyone can attend. My granddaughter who is a nurse has to work. I always bring mac & cheese & a sweet potato casserole that I get from QVC. I just bake it.

Some days my pain has been higher but manageable.

Karen, how goes it? Always discouraging then the dr visits are not what we were hoping for. Praying if you lose some, you will feel much much better!

How is everyone doing? What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Husband and I celebrate with my side of the family at my sister-in-law's and brother's house close-by. We also usually visit my husband's sister and her family at some point Thanksgiving week, because his mom travels from North Carolina to be there with them and it's always nice to see family.

We spend Christmas every year with his mom in North Carolina. I appreciate the warmer weather, but it's such a quiet time. I miss my boisterous family gatherings where there is now 25+ of us if everyone shows up. haha

I had 3 bags of Halloween candy gave to me. I bag it all up & when the great grandkids came I loaded them up. I also had apples & little cups of fruit for them. I bagged up some chocolate for the nursing home residents.

I am back to recording my food. That seems to help more than anything. My daughter did bring some chips so I will have to portion those out carefully.

My last Dr visit was not good as I had gained again. I am hoping my leg pain will be less if I lose some weight. The dr did not say anything about my weight but he didn't need to. I got the point.

Let's start our holiday season officially with a new chat thread. What are your strategies for living healthfully during the upcoming holidays? I know I start to struggle starting in October and moving all the way to New Year's Eve.

One of my strategies is now I no longer hand out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. In years past, we would only get a few kids stop by and we'd be left with a boat-load of treats. Guess where most of them ended up? haha. The last couple years, I've not participated in Halloween treat-giving, since we don't have anyone show up anymore. But if I were to participate, I would buy non-candy surprises to give out. Toys, raisins, a local bookstore even was offering a booklet of free book certificates for the kids this year.

What are some tips you can share?
