Well I made it Alcohol free for 47 days. That is the period of lent back in the spring of this year plus one day.
So this makes it the longest alcohol free streak in years!
I keep trying.

I borrowed audio of Naked Mind but it did not hold my attention and I did not finish it. I liked Jason Vale's Kick the Drink- he does make a nod to Alan Carr who I though t was a bit too dry. haha!!!.. no pun intended!!

I moderate and what I do is socially acceptable- yet I do like Vale's energy. I also met a friend at a wedding who basically transformed himself by going AF. So- I sometimes do get the urge to just pick water/ better drinking choices JUST like I do with my food.
Esp when I hear something like this-(Dr. Klaper is 72 and just the sweetest man)

I love being able to share here.
I also think the message is pretty much the same and the delivery system/messenger works differently for different people.

Yes- I like some whisky once a year with my brother- so...I doubt I will give it up- yet for the sake of clarity I do like the idea of giving it up and caffeine as well for 100 days / possibly a year. Pondering.

I'm here at Sparks until 12/18- last weigh in day for a challenge I am in and then I am going dark until Spring. I need some cocoon time emoticon

I did not miss drinking tonight....day 46.
The party was fun and our gifts were well received and we liked what we got. an old cd of laurie anderson readings. Jeff likes her so that was good.

Then he picked a reflex tester. LOL
The food was very good.

The chili needed some spices so I found some salt and some pico de gallo and added them to the chili, it helped a lot!

She made the best appetizers: apple with bacon wrapped around and baked.....delicious! I had 4!
Got home at 10pm.
Am tired after a long day.

Tomorrow will be a long work day.

Thanks cherie, I never finished the book.
It is friday night and we are getting ready to go to a christmas party.
They are serving green chili that is low carb, I asked!
There will be a white elephants teal the present game.
and an ugly sweater contest!
I think I will have a piece of cheese.
Jeff is out with the guys celebrating the last teaching of class today.
Can't remember if I told you of this low carb ice cream? I really like it.
But I should only have it on special occasion. It only has 4 net carbs for the pint.
It is mostly fat.
I am working tomorrow which is fine. It will be a busy day.
I saw 5 clients today which is more than I usually see.
Jeff is going to help me upload documents and turn them into pdf files.
That has to be done before I can renew my nursing license.sigh

I just filled up my pill box for 2 weeks, luckily I had enough. Need to get refills before we leave. Also my magnesium citrate 400mg.

Made a run to the grocery store to pick up some tonic water for his gin and tonics. And for me some non alcoholic ginger beer, zevia (stevia sweetened) makes it and it is delicious. I also picked up some low carb, mint chocolate chip ice cream and ate a third of that pint which was very satisfying I might add. Jeff and I went to a christmas/choral concert with Carol tonight. She really enjoyed it! The wind ensemble play with the singers and there were some soloists. It was really good! We were seated in the center of the row and I had to excuse myself and get out of there because I coughed and was afraid that I would cough again so sat in the rear of the auditorium until the concert was over. I have a fear of getting cancer from inhaling the chemicals that I use every day for work..for the past 20 years. If I get cancer of the lungs, throat or nose it will be because of that chronic irritation, (it makes me cough if I inadvertently inhale the spray).
Christmas party in 2 days. Beef chili sounds good. I know that it is low carb because I asked. I will bring my cup again with stevia to sweeten the water. They are playing the white elephant game or steal the gift.
I just found a perfect regifting gift for the party. Cat pillow cases! LOL.

Hi!

Thank you all for the compliments. The longer you go without drinking, the easier it is. I do remember the moderate times with nice memories, making new memories now. We were around drinking over thanksgiving, It went fine not drinking, I know I can't moderate.

My doc visits went ok. Laid down when I got home, Have to take it easy for a couple days.

Planning on cleaning up my diet after the holidays. Still watching it tho.

Its so pretty in our place with the xmas lighting and decorations. But it also warm and comfortable.

Hattie jumped on my lap again tonight, It makes it difficult to type.
Should be grateful that she wants contact with me. She is Jeffs cat and will hiss at me and
occasionally she growls if she doesn't like what I am doing to her.
Unfortunately she smells.
Jeff is out with the guys listening to some student give their final concert for the semester.
blues, cajun and latin bands. It is at a bar so jeff can drink so am sure he is happy about that.
Did not want to go. It is chilly out side and I get cold easily.
I cooked up some veggies stir fry and some brussel sprouts with an orange sauce.
Ate half of that and a piece of cheese and about 1/2 cup of the low carb ice cream.
After I cleaned up I decided to put up the little christmas tree on the dining room table.
I used only miniature ornaments. Think it turned out fine. It looks pretty with the lights off.
43 days af and stuck at 10 pound weight loss....I need to be easy on myself we did just have a major holiday!
Need to start thinking about christmas presents for Jeff. I don't have any idea.
He is hard to shop for.
I am getting gift cards for my family or just cash like I did last year.
My picking is under control so that is good. My computer usage is terrible.
Did get my charting done so am happy about that.

Bizi- I need to clean my place!

Holidays-I wait until later on to do anything- we have some old decorations and have gone without the treee (we don't want to buy a plastic one and don't want to cut down one) now and do what we call decorating the room.. well we do use one of my DD's big plastic cactus to hang some lights. WE just have a nice time since kids are pretty all over so it is nice when we can see each other. Simple gifts- plenty of cooking - just a kind of the end the year thing .. 4 of us are atheist one agnostic and DH is I guess spiritual-believes

Years ago used ot have a tree decorating party and tons of guests. It is nice to have peace and simplicity now.

I might be taking a spark break.. I have procrastinated about have a space to do illustration- thinking I will wait until we find and buy the house- but I should not waste that time- illustration takes a great many hours. I sometimes wish I had another drive/passion but I do love it and do want to do it as close as I can in the medical/science field - etc..soo... need to focus!

Hi all!

Its been a while, having health problems. I'm getting a lubricating shot in my knee tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon an epidural on my back! Taking Vraylar, it really helps with the yo-yos. But it has a lot of side effects. I'll have to put up with that cause it keeps me from being hyper.

Bizi, it feels good to get a lot done!
Hunny and I decorated Sat and Sun. Hunny has good taste.
Have to accept the fact of not buying gifts this year. No $$$ I don't feel bad anymore, its the way it has to be. I do feel bad about not seeing my kids.

I'm at 427 dayAF.

I hope you all don't get stressed out over the month!!!

I've been reading my older journals, I've grown so much at my age... It helps to write.

So Far it has been a productive day.
Lite lunch at the diner. (picked at a chef salad)
Laundry, scrubs, load of socks and undies, folded and put away.
Washed the bath mat, mostly cleaned the bathroom floor, it had hair spray.
Changed out my work advanced planner for the year.
Transferred appointments from old calendar to the new one....
only have to do this once every 12-16 months.
Filed info cards back into place.
listened to Jerry Garcia and the grateful dead.
getting ready to have dinner. Need to do charting after dinner.

Bizi- being AF is helping as booze really makes us store those calories from food- so you are doing well with that!

I have been attempting Pilates- oh my is that hard to do! I have a different DVD called No Trouble Zones with similar move that Jillian does- I might use that instead and get to Pilates when I am a bit more in shape

My time on line is out the roof.
I just spent hours rereading my threads from last year and this year
looking for patterns. I definitely yo yo with my weight and drinking.
(I did not need to spend hours reading to know this truth).

Even though I am not drinking right now I feel I am out of control.
I had many things that I need to do this long 4 day weekend.

I still have one day left to be productive.
3 loads of laundry
transfer calendar for the new year....this will take quite a while.
Chart for the month that I am behind. This will take a while too.
I need to get to bed!
sigh


I cheated again on my diet at friends house for green gumbo.
I ate 4 pieces of corn bread. and had cherry pie with ice cream.

my favorite!
I did note that I weighed 194 on 8-5-19 my heaviest weight.
I weighed 181 this morning.

Can't believe we are into december already!
today marks day 40 Alcohol free.
I am down 10-12 pounds now...am happy about that.
I will have chicken and sausage gumbo for lunch
and then turkey green gumbo for dinner
at our friends house that we had thanksgiving.
I will bring the left over crawfish dip.
I really need to get into the shower
but will have another cup of coffee first.
We talked about putting up the christmas tree this weekend.
I have so much paperwork that I need to do....sigh

Went to whole foods tonight for dinner and trivia.
Had hamburger with out the bun with pepper jack cheese and bacon. and a side of salad.
It was very good.
I drank water the entire night.
I have to say that we were right at the bar and it was very tempting to have a beer.They have a large selection of craft beers. I resisted.
I thought about my telephone call with my friend Carol from AA.
She was very happy for me.....she wants me to call her if I am tempted to drink. I had told her that I was unsure if I will drink or not while on vacation. I really think I will drink. But I really don't want to screw up my diet....I need to really think about this.

We walked after dinner yesterday for a short walk for the dog to run and play fetch. My ankles bothered me.

My chiropractor said I needed to start exercising my right foot as it is getting worse instead of better. He wants me to ice it as well as he felt it was swollen. I don't think it is swollen.
I am off today and the weekend too.

Bizi- sounds fun and yummy! Same here- had good food- nice time but I did have drinks and at the end a bit of whisky with my brother which was just perfect.
AF today and hey I lost a pound!!

Sunny and my eldest kid is coming by later with their partner.

Going for a walk.

We had Thanksgiving at our friends house, went well.
I made crawfish dip with crackers and greenbean casserole.
Both came out great.
We got there around 3pm
There were 15 of us at 2 tables.
The food was delicious!
I had 3 crackers with dip.....for dinner:
I had turkey thigh meat with gravy. small helping of stuffing,
chicken and rice, some green bean casserole and a large
portion of cranberry relish.Helped to clean up dishes a bit
and went for a walk before cutting the cherry pie.
That was the best pie with vanilla ice cream. emoticon
I was not overly full so that is good.
I sat next to Jeffs graduate student and talked to him so that was nice.
I drank hot water sweetened with stevia.
We got back home around 7pm.
Called Carol and we chatted for 40minutes, nice conversation.
Just ordered prevagen for memory...one for mom for christmas present and one for me.
I survived a social gathering with out drinking. 38 days Alcohol free.
Not going to get on the scale for a few days.
Next event is a christmas party.

I cheated on my diet tonight.
Had 2 pieces of fried chicken dark meat...light batter, ate skin and all. And had brussel sprouts that were wonderful. Not sure of the sauce that was on them.
went grocery shopping for tomorrow...making green bean casserole and crawfish dip.
Bought some low carb chocolate mint ice cream called Rebel.....
very tasty but has an after taste. I had about a half a cup at 9pm. I will be eating some carbs tomorrow but will not go crazy. eat a bit of this and that and only go back for something that I love. They cook an organic turkey and brine it I believe. There will be cherry pie for sure. I am also bringing some almonds....and maybe some humus and pita chips that I picked up the other day. There will be 16 of us. I plan on eating a bit of left over meatloaf before we go.

we bought a bottle of Pinot- so Pinot to go- mostly to share. 1 glass as I socialize- she has invited many! And then keep the glass and fill with seltzer and a splash of grape juice. I love grape juice- Thanksgiving! Thankful for emoticon

I do know getting the weight off is going to help- talking about me here too. And I do know it will take some time..cuz I lost my magic weight loss wand dang it!!!

Got the results of my blood work.
kidney function is fine now so that is good.
blood calcium level is high.= 10.7
a month ago MD ordered a parathyroid hormone test which
could be the cause of an elevated calcium level.
It came back fine.
I wonder if taking so much magnesium oxide could effect my levels.
I am no longer taking any calcium capsules like I was.
Don't drink milk.
My liver enzymes were high by 5 points. What constitutes a fatty liver? elevated enzymes?
Think I will google it.
being over weight for so long takes its toll.I am surprised I am not prediabetic!
Still on line too much...avoiding my paperwork which is terrible. Really need to be better disciplined. Now if I could just start christmas shopping.....
I hate shopping.
We are going to our friends house for friendsgiving.
I will bring the green bean casserole and crawfish dip.....I was supposed to go to the store today...did not happen... I have time tomorrow...will make time because the grocery store that we go to is closed for thanksgivng, rightfully so!
my picking has diminished so that is good, still alcohol free 36 days, Still down 10 pounds!

My great niece is 5 weeks old today. Sweet Emmy Lou.

How is the house searching coming a long?

You have it planned right to eat a good brunch for thanksgiving. we should do that too.
With the holidays coming up and our vacation too. I will have to use will power to be disciplined.
I don't want to gain weight! That will be real tricky because when it is cold....I tend to over eat.
I just need to make sure there are plenty of lower carb food items in the house.
It will be very difficult when we go to my moms house for a few days. It is really cold there, they follow a low carb diet too but have already said that they don't on holidays. They live in northern Indiana.
Mom equates eating her food with love.
Also I eat to give me something to do....to avoid conversation if I am honest.
I have social anxiety even with my family....and usually drink to combat those feelings.
I feel awkward in most situations.
So the next month is a challenge!!!!

Bizi- I try to stay away from those pet sites!! They find a way into your heart...but if you do find one you have a good heart so any pet would be lucky!

-You might be able to lose 10 in 5 weeks. 2 pounds a week is reasonable- but staying the course is more important. The scale and plans like that can be tricky. I know- can be frustrating when the mind thinks well I have this input and should get this result. There is a bit of a chaos factor (life? lol) in all that but if you stay true to eating healthy and keep moving your body will ultimately return to it's healthy weight.
Healthy weight is a byproduct of healthy habits over time!

I am also going down scale wise and energy level up. My brother's T-day dinner is not until 5 and I am glad- I won't be drinking or even eating much then because I won't do tha tlater on in the day. I usually have my biggest meal mid- day. So on Thanksgiving I will have a pretty good size brunch and then eat healthy- and perhaps one glass of wine with dinner.

Walked yesterday. Did a Pilates tape. Walk today- and find a core tape and stretch later on too. emoticon emoticon Every day is another emoticon all strung along

Had salmon for dinner and some califlower, half an avocado and small orange.
Good dinner but not many calories....was hungry before bed but did not eat anything. That was the first time that happened. 179.1 this morning.
yeah! I hope my posting numbers doesn't trigger anyone.

Got up early today 6am and need to do some paperwork. I was on the computer looking at videos of pets way too much until 1120 last night. awful!!!
I wonder if I can lose another 10 pounds in 5 weeks?

After work I went to whole foods and ate off the food bar.
Hubby had a gig tonight.
It was trivia and there were 2 friends there, a colleague of Jeffs and his friend so I joined them. Only knew one answer. They came in 3rd.
I ate sauteed mushrooms with a red sauce and chicken and green beans. very good.
Keep falling asleep at the computer....need to go to bed.

Bizi you were AF, looking and feeling good, then you drank over vacation and the pattern started all over again. Oh how I know the pattern and tried over and over. Just don't want to seen you undo your good work. The meds work better for me now.

Cherie- hope the shots work!

I can't smoke weed makes me feel panicky and I am not a person to get panic attacks- so not relaxing for me.
My goals are 1-2 drinks and I'm good with that. Only once in awhile now because more than that and I store fat. It is finally coming off and in the right direction!

Bizi- how is Jeff? Hope he is ok. Congrats on the AF days and weight loss

I had enough time to day to walk to pool and back. Hot tub was open too! Has not been in awhile . Some of the university swim team was practicing in the last two lanes! They were fast!!
This old lady just kept slowly swimming the crawl for 25 minutes. emoticon Felt good. esp this time of year to get in the water.

Had home made tomato soup and hummus and wasa crackers and a salad for lunch. emoticon emoticon

Hi'

Hope everyone is following their goals.
Bizi, I hope you remember what happened last xmas. Do you want to go thru that again? Just trying to help.
If Jeff is having a weird headache, he should go to hospital.

I'm looking foward to the holidays, cause I know I'll be AF. Won't say sober cause I smoke weed. Its not toxic, and its not physically addictive. Relaxing....

Jeff has a migraine headache. poor guy for almost 6 hours straight.
Gave him one of my pain pills did do anything for him. Gave him 800mg of advil as that is the prescription strength.
I asked him if he wanted to go to the hospital, he said no. He did not think he could get up, the room was spinning.

I went shopping...Our cat hattie needed some more dressing supplies for her wound/cancer...
I also picked up some snacks:coconut strips/chips, humus with garlic and pita chips. and sun flower seeds. bananas, avocados, cottage cheese, sour cream, sharp cheddar cheese slices, half and half creamer for coffee.
I hope I sleep tonight.

I'm pondering the holidays-
Foodwise- I think I will allow a few bites of things such as pie/-turkey(maybe) etc.
We have a wedding to go to in Dec. as well

I know- no overdrinking. I probably will have one or two on a holiday- such as over my brother's house. I shall bring some sparkling water - although I am sure they will have that. Same plan for wedding
1 martini perhaps and a glass of wine with dinner and then water/seltzer/tonic

Began picking at 2 fingers....sigh
one has a bandaid ....


on the computer a lot today.....
had a breakfast of scrambler with smoked sausage and veggies and a side of brocolli.

left over rotiserre chicken for dinner. thigh and a leg...it was dry.
a 3 small dark chocolate pieces for dessert@! yum. did not have any sides for dinner just wanted it to be lite.
I have to say that I am snacky right now though!

hey friends!
26 days AF, 8 pounds down, picking much much better, computer too much!
I have all of my favorite d book marks/web sites listed in a column on the left side of my page. I post on many different sites:2 different bipolar sites, nutrition and cutting down drinking to lose weight, HAMS harm reduction in cutting down drinking. face book, email weather channel, blogs etc.
Since I post on these I regularly check to see if anyone has responded. I have certain people that I follow and read to see if they have posted. We I keep going over and over to these sites it takes a long time to read up on these posts the psych central forum is very involved, very busy and hard to keep up.
I call it mental masturbation.The attention to posts that I get is rewarding..
I saw 2 clients today. one was in bed and did not need it done. So I will do her in 2 months when I come back for her hubby. sweet sweet man!
they live out of town about an hour. I see them every 2 months.
I have worn long underwear all week.
40's in the mornings then warms up to 60 today.

We have a coupon for buy one entree get one free for bonefish grill....think we will go there after jeff gets home from the student music society fraternity that jeff is the faculty adviser. They have some sort of ceremony today.
I know what I am going to get at bonefish: Lillys chicken it has spinach and basil and artichoke hearts and goat cheese and lemon butter....yummy!
I always get it.

I am still seeing a chiropractor for my neck(chronic neck pains issues) and back (I had hurt my back in August at the beach getting out of the tub)and ankle (I sprained my ankle 9-11-19).
I have been seeing him weekly going on 3 months.
Think he is helping.
Jeff just got home so will sign off.

182 Lost 8 pounds in less than 4 weeks!
feeling really good right now.


I am meeting some residents at a senior living apartment complex tonight. Giving a free in-home pedicure to a lucky winner. Bought some goodies and will provide hand massages. It will be their happy hour at 5pm...not sure how long it will last. wish me luck! I need new clients!!! business has been down quite a lot this year for some reason. I am sponsoring a bingo at a senior center once in January and again in February.

I was just looking back at my notes and I weighed 137 on 11-1-15.
four years later I weighed 192....That is 55 pounds!
I blame the weight gain on drinking. I was drinking fattening craft beers and many of them. And some of the meds that I was on did not help:abilify, seroquel, zyprexa.Now am on lithium so don't know if that is a weight gainer or not...I think it is. Supposedly geodon is weight neutral.
So I have lost 5 pounds so am happy about that. 10% lost.

Entertained a couple of guest artists and his fiance Julie. the mens names I can't think of they are Indian...and I am not good with names. Two are vegetarians.

We went out to dinner twice. The 5 of us ate at a Thia place called bang koc thia. I had a shrimp(that was over cooked) coconut soup that ended up being too spicy and I choked because of it. It was very good otherwise and I had a quart left over...had ordered a potsize. We shared an order of coconut ice cream...I ate more than I should have. I was delicious!!!!!!!



The concert was great.
The men played together, one played a sitar and the other a type of drum. They were very good. The small audience clapped loudly so they felt good about it.



Tonight We ate a this place called chopsticks and it was very good. I had hot and sour soup which was good. then Jeff and I split a pot of mixed meats and veggies it was not too spicy.

I did have one medium size egg roll.
They gave us their left overs which was so nice of them.


Every one drank alcohol but me. I did not miss it all!

I really did not think of it at all which is great!


I may need to take one of them to the airport tomorrow will see.

Jeff is picking up 2 of them tomorrow morning at 10 but he has a rehearsal after lunch and the concert is at 3pm, a veterans day concert.


I have much paperwork to do and 2 loads of laundry.
I would like to go to the concert....
but I really need to be disciplined!


It is cold for us....40's
