Hey Ladies,

Mardi, in south Louisiana everything closes for Mardi Gras, even the Federal Reserve. You can't get around town because of the crowds. We go to smaller cities to celebrate. The crowds aren't as large, and it's more family oriented than New Orleans. Schools close for two days, we only get off Mardi Gras day, but most businesses close for Lundy Gras and Mardi Gras.

Judy, I hope all goes well with the surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Enjoy your plants. I'm sure your garden is beautiful!!

Well I didn't go to our Mardi Gras after all. Was all set, but when I got up in the morning the cold I had been fighting seemed worse, so I decided I would rest. I feel great today...Go figure! With my surgery Friday, I don't want to have to reschedule. It was the right thing to do,

Worked in the yard today trimming back a hedge. yuck. I just want things pretty. Why does it have toi be so much work..work..work? LOL

Hey Ladies,

The craziness has ended, and we are now into the lenten season. For us that is crawfish now and shrimp a little later!!

I don't do crowds very much either. I went shopping with a couple of friends yesterday. For her birthday, one of my friends wanted to spend the day shopping and having lunch, so we did. It was a lot of fun. We don't usually get together during the day, but since it was Mardi Gras holiday, it was a nice change.

Judy, I'm sure your friends behaved very respectfully, but I can tell you when people get to NO they act like they are never going home again!! Flashing for beads is just stupid!! I think they just get caught up in the moment. This year everyone said it was quieter and much more normal since the Saints won the Super Bowl.

PinkGranny, have fun at the capital. I love to go visit our capital builing.

I am getting ready to go to the state capital tomorrow to visit the legislators. It will be fun! Today will be a busy one with getting my schedule printed off. Also I have another job I am applying for so I have to work on the application and cover letter. Yesterday I updated my resume. Whew I am tired thinking about it.

Well, a quick catch up...I am not going to Mardi Gras or any pseudo-Mardi Gras parties up here in the north! I can get into enough trouble just sitting here in front of this computer!

We don't have anything like it here in Ireland------The closest is St.Patrick's day----which---in Dublin---can get pretty rough-----but then I don't ever go to Dublin!!
We are into another cold spell----freezing at night and cold and rainy! Brr-r-r!!

I will say that the people that were acting terrible at the Mardi Gras episode of cops were out of towners because they would ask them where they were from and then they would ask them if they peed on the streets in their home town, which of course they don't! It really gives New Orleans a bad rap.

I'm like Vicki, I don't like a huge crowd so much.

It is very cold here today. I think I will leave work and go home and get under the blankets and get warm!

Never been to Mardi Gras and seen pictures on TV and don't think I want to go I don't really care for crowds having the 4th of July in our town is enough very crowded.

So today is Fat Tue (Mardi Gras) but I hope everyone trys to be good I know I am going too

I can't believe how insane Mardi Gras gets. I have only seen pictures, but pretty risqué. I hope some of the central valley ladies here don't disgrace us tomorrow at our Mardi Gras. I have never been to one before. I don't think they will. They are usually pretty reserved at other functions, but fun.

You ladies and your snow. As long as your're safe and it doesn'nt last long Cassie, it is probably fun for a change.

Hey Cassie! yep insanity is a good word for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Now I did go for fourth of July one year and had a really good time. No was was puking on the side walk or peeing on the wall of a building. LOL


I have watched the cops episodes of Mardi Gras and that is just ridiculous!!!

We had a little bit of snow today but had a good bit of ice because it kept raining after the temps dropped. It's all clear now though!

VGinny, I won't be going to Mardi Gras. I agree with you, it's insanity!! I prefer New Orleans without the crowds, and crazy people. We usually go at other times during the year. This year it has been crazy for a week already since the Saints won the Super Bowl!!

Hey Classy, Sassy Ladies,

I have been away toooo long!!! We had another sneaux day!! I can't belieive it!! We have had one snow day for the last 3 years. That is unheard of here!!! It sure is beautiful. It was gone by noon on Friday, and then it rained.

I miss my mom as well!! We really had FUN together. My husband says he misses her more than I do because we did everything together and now he has too!!

Slimakins, your mom sounds special. Getting your pilot's license at any age is great, but after 50 is very special!!

I feel the love from the raised pinky!!! Thanks so much for thinking of us!! I'm sure you had a great time of FUN and friendship!!

Moving rooms around today moved my treadmill in a new room asked hubby to help but told him he could not get mad and he did very well. Now to finish making it look like a exercise room. So better get to it so I can use the treadmill today

I really don't live that close but my girl friend has her own blind comp and she always has to take broken ones back to the shop to get fixed and it is just 10 min from the shop so that is why we go once a month and I only take $20.00 for each casino which there are 3 so think I did pretty good to just lose $10.00 we always have fun

I am really upset with myself can't go off the food plan one day and gain 2 pounds what is going on. Really have to up the exercise to get back to what I was on Thur.

the casino made me think of my Mom. she loved to go to the casino in Las Vegas and play bingo! she could stay there on an afternoon and just have the best time. she would have 20 cards going. good memories.

My mother would have loved it too. That women painted her own house at 68.....Got her pilots license at 55. She would try a lot of things. I miss my Mom too. I didn't get to spend enough unhampered time with her.

Goin to our Valentine tea in the morning. I shall hold my pinkie out and think of you all.

Wow....snow in every state except one today. Some anxious people out there.

My Mum would have loved it. She was always ready for something new. She was lots of fun. I miss her!

My mom won't get one not sure why but I am not going to push it for then I would have to teach her and I really don't have the time.

The internet is amazing. My Mother would not have anything to do with it and she remained firm until she passed. She was convinced it was a bad thing. and I guess, for some people the way they use it, it is, but Mother would have loved all of the information right at her fingertips because she was an avid reader!

Good luck Cassie. I learn something new everyday on the computers. Some people our age won't even try. I have a lot of fun in every direction. I can even go to goodle earth and see where your house is if I needed. Did that when I dreove to Arizona last year and zeroed right in on my friends house. When I got in the area I could tell right where to turn. Recognized the trees in her yard! Isn;t that something?

go to your home page like goggle or yahoo and type in the search Valentine pictures or what ever you are looking for and it will take you there. Then find what you like and download them in your picture file then download them to your SP file photo's If you need more help let me know

We have Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby. I love going there.

Ladies, I love all of your pictures. Where do you get them. Apparently, I don't know how or where to get them. I would appreciate your help.

We are supposed to have 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight. We will see. I don't get excited until it's actually snowing because it is a rare sight here. It has really been cold this year. Hopefully, we will at least see snow flurries!!

Oh, I'm so sorry Kelly about your Mom. Just want you to know my Mom had lung cancer. They removed it and she lived 20 years more. I'll be thinking of her.

Glad your results were'nt so bad. Theses health problems would sure like to keep us from kicking up our heels, don't they? LOL

So sorry about your Mom Kelly and will keep you all on the prayer list. glad you got good news on your tests.

Dollar Trees are everywhere in Jacksonville,Fl. I recently found a new one ready to open. I frequently shop there. They have great stuff.

On a sad note. The lung biopsy my mother had was positive for lung cancer, She is scheduled for a PET Scan on Friday to make sure it hasn't spread. We are praying it hasn't. Keep the prayers coming.

On the lighter side, my tests came out fine. I have right sided sinusitis & Benign Paroxsymal Positional Vertigo. I was relieved.

Couldn't love without the dollar tree as a Red Hatter. LOL We bought wedding dress favor boxes that we are painting and dressing up for our Spring Queens council. They are looking so cute. I will be sure and post pictures when I get some.

I did get a snazzy mask for mard Gras. I almost forgot about that.

Had our monthly RH meeting tonight. Lots of fun planned ahead. Some I just can't afford though. My husband and I never do much, so some of the more expensive things I just can't jusify.

Do any of you have a Dollar Tree in your town's??
Everything in there is a $1 I love ours but have to go 25 miles to get to our but that is ok when I am there I buy a lot and for my Red Hat friends. So glad we have one. Right now they have Mardi Guas stuff.

Well better get to the Exercise so far the scale is very happy with all the exercise and the new food plan hope I can keep this up until Monday weigh in.

If you have a party central store or a party store of some kind, last year I bought a purple mask on a stick that you hold up to your face and I put some boa stuff around the mask. It was great! And they had all kinds of beads there for like 50 cents a strand. Evidently, this is a big party seller in those stores no matter where you live. I bought what I needed for less than 10.00. I had a good time last year at our Mardi Gras party and it was a bunch of groups too.

Party fever is in the air everywhere. I think people are glad to be out of Blue January with February pushing into March and Spring.

No headway on my weight loss, but I'm hanging in there.

This Saturday is a Valentine tea at one of our historic mansions in Modest for our Red Hat group. We'll wear our hats we made last year. I love mine.
Next Tuesday is a Mardi Guas for a bunch of groups. Probably be 100 or more ladies going. I don't know what I'll wear. I have some cute necklaces from New Orleans my sister brought me after Katrina. Don't want to spend any money so I need to get my thinking cap on.

I thought I was doing good today but my dear one wanted to eat out. I had an omelet and hash browns with toast but ate only half of the omelet and hashbrowns and left one piece of toast. Whew! Fortunately I went to Curves & we had our walk for 40 minutes.

Thanks so much for the kind words. It is good for New Orleans to be back. The devastation after Hurricane Katrina was unbelievable. We rode down just to see, and couldn't believe how it all looked. That anyone is living there and the city is thriving shows the determination of the human spirit to over come adversity.

Next Tuesday is Mardi Gras so I'm sure the party will continue til then, and beyond.

Vitchy, I'm with you. I'm trying to get back on track, but it sure is hard. I haven't lost any pounds in a few weeks, but I'm still hanging in there.

Been really busy. I hate to tell you this...especially you ladies digging snow , but I have 7 daffodills blooming! Can you believe it? Wow, I love it. My big worry is the blossoms on the peach already....with bees buzzing too boot!?! I hope this is not a bad sign of NO Peaches, cause the weather changed!

Went Red Hatting Sunday to a "Color Me Mine" shop where we painted some prettys. I paintd a sassy Red Hatters mirror with a pretty dress and boa on the back. We'll see if it turned out in a few days after it is fired.
