Hello to all of you superb Sparkpeople members. The new year is here.

I have been keeping myself occupied with work and side hustles. When I wake up it is dark outside. When I go to bed it is dark outside. When is the time change ever going to get here?

Instead of drinking my favorite diet lemon iced tea in my sports water bottle, I made a pitcher of unsweetened black iced tea. Tastes good for a change.

I may be quitting Sparkpeople. In 2015, I began Sparkpeople and weighed 170. It is now 2019 and I still weigh 170 pounds. I think I need to pursue different avenues. If you really want me to stay, tell me. If not, I really may have to go.

This year, I spent Christmas without my family.

My family's Christmas dinner tradition was always homemade spaghetti and a big garden salad.

My mother never taught me how to make homemade spaghetti. However, she did teach me how to make a mean pasta salad. So, what was I supposed to do for Christmas this year?

I made a big pasta salad.

I hate ham. I do like salami, pepperoni and fried turkey breast. A pound of lunch meat can make a week of lunches for me!

our aldi store has hams (bone in of course) for .88 cents per pound! I am on my 4th! I bake it (it is fully cooked but) then I cut the meat off the bone on all four sides! great for 1 or 2 dinners about 4 sandwiches, and with the bone I make pea soup and the following week baked beans (boiling the rest of the meat off the bone) lots of meals with 1 - 8.00 ham! I use some in my scalloped potatoes too with 1 can salt free French beans. I get in extra veggies that way too!

I've never thrown a coupon party. I'm wondering if there is enough of an interest to try to set up a regular topic thread posting "deals" you seeing in your neighborhood? Sometimes I do not hear about certain sales because we do not get a paper delivered. I'm not interested in directing folks to websites.

Last night, as I am on vacation, we went grocery shopping at an upscale grocery store (not the dollar tree I am so used to shopping at). I did some good budgeting.

2 twelve-packs sparkling seltzer water
1 pound salami
1/2 pound off the bone ham
1 box Club crackers
1 bottled water
2 bags of Italian rolls
2 bags of potato chips

=$30.00

The grocery store was so "elite". However, they were very friendly. Not stuck-up.

How are you? I hope good!

The weather is storming out. While having dinner, the light kept flickering. I want to be on Sparkpeople, so pray with me that the electric does not go out!

I made crockpot French toast for dinner with a side of pineapple. Too sweet. I have never allowed myself much sugar in life. Even as a child, I thought of sugar as a sin. So, now I know better.

Another too sweet thing is Brisk lemon iced tea. The Brisk has been on sale the past two weeks, so I bought some as a treat. I have learned my lesson. I have been drinking ice water now. I am on The Water Challenge Sparkteam after all! So, I am going to sell the Brisk to my roommates as they are used to drinking sugar. I will be drinking ice water and iced coffee and be happy!

Those are my 2 cents for today!

Well, I have books and magazines from the library to read. I am excited, but when am I going to have the time? LOL Everything on how to declutter, to making home soaps and lotions to Woman's World.

I had to shut off the window air unit. The weather is super freezing (to me anyway) and rain. I miss the sun!

I love everything about Chex cereal and Chex Mix Party Mix.

I hardly ever allow myself to buy such cereal as is so expensive.

At my local grocery store this past week, the Corn Chex and the Rice Chex were on sale for $3.49 a box. So, I bought a box of Rice Chex.

Hello all of you wonderful Sparkpeople!

OK...

I am at 156 pounds and holding. Atleast I am not gaining, right? What makes me want to jump up and down? I am not considered an "obese" anymore. "Obesity" to me is like a bad word. You know what I mean, right?

I have meatballs in the crockpot for meatball hoagies for dinner. I am starving! Included is a fruit and vegetable. How about you?

From now on, I know to do Sparkpeople first thing in the morning after the iced coffee ritual. This way my day is going to start off happy instead of stressed when writing articles. Makes sense, right?

A question... I have a ton of small baskets. What type of crafts should I use the baskets for? I know gift baskets, but what type? Any other uses?

Don't forget to stay hydrated!

Also, pray for those who do not or cannot pray for themselves.

This morning, I threw kielbasa and potatoes in the crockpot with ketchup and horseradish. I usually include brown sugar but was out of brown sugar. The concoction was awful.

I learned a lesson.

Tomorrow, spaghetti and meatballs! Can't go wrong!

Hello there folks!

I hope all of you are having success with your weight loss journey... whether with your fitness, nutrition or simply having Sparkpeople there for you when you need it. As for Sparkpeople, I know I can always get a boost of inspiration, motivation and/or a good kick in the butt, when I need it.

You are probably sick of me talking about my work. Writing and editing take up every spare minute that I have and are very important to me. Editing is kind-of boring, though. However, when I do the writing, it is like a free education. I learn so much. Lately, I have been doing many YouTube reviews. Do you know of any good girly YouTube videos?

I cannot wait to weigh myself next Tuesday! I am at 158 pounds and want to be 150 pounds. Kind-of still chunky, but not obese. I do not want to look anorexic. I want some meat on my bones. What do you think?

How are you today?

I have been working super hard. Articles and side hustles... I was kind-of given a promotion at the website I am a contributing writer for. So, very excited and wanting to take on even more.

The side hustles have been taking up my Sparkpeople time. I have to do what I have to do. However, I do check in with the teams as often as I can.

For dinner today, I am serving leftover bow-tie pasta with meatballs. Frugal and filling. I am a carb-lover but watch my portion.

The weather has been so nice that all I want to do is sit outside! I do for about 20 minutes, then return to my desk.

Tonight is Mass on-line and either in-home walking or fitness pedal exercising.

If you have any good no-bake recipes, would you share the recipes with me? I need recipes that are easy and require barely any time to make.

Hello...

Yes. A workaholic Sunday, so thus a form letter. I hope you don't mind... If I didn't do anything at all, then you would think I did not give a darn, right? But, I do!

My pedometer average is not at what I would like, but for a full-time telecommuter working from home, what do you expect? I have activity by bedtime, but by then I crash and do not log it in. God knows my step average. Is he a member of Sparkpeople, by the way?

For dinner, today, I served mix n match skillet with grill cheese and a handful of corn chips. Doing yet another pantry challenge... I do watch portions. Yet, I cannot be too picky. With pantry challenges, you serve what you DO have available, although not as healthy as you would like.

I have not written a Sparkpeople in a good while. However, my Sparkpeople blogs are really not commented on. I guess I'm not interesting to members.

The weather is freezing here. I don't understand, April?

You are supposed to have 3 meals a day with mini-meals in-between, right?

Well, normally i just have dinner. Not good.

So, I have made up my mind to have salad ready for lunch and/or the mini-meals every day. For example, potato salad, chicken salad, taco salad, tuna salad and, of course, my favorite, pasta salad.

Besides a garden salad, (an obvious salad to create), what salads am I missing?

I wish I had coupons to clip. I find clipping coupons to be soothing. I guess it is the thought of saving money of what I have little of. Also, the production of cortisol slows down, as I am not stressed. What calms YOU down?

Summer is on it's way. I bought a jump rope around last Christmas and have yet to jump. I am waiting for warm weather. Do you think my neighbors will think that I have lost my mind jumping in my driveway? I am not quite a kid... However, my motto is: You only grow old if you want to.

I hope your day has been not "busy" but productive. My day is just starting...

Fairly simple recipe for Cincinnati Chili. For spices, I add unsweetened cocoa. I'll have to try your formula with the crockpot. I will probably be soaking the beans first and pressure cooking a batch for 1) making this chili, and 2) making Sonoran refried beans (the 're-' part of refried should be translated well-fried).

Cincinnati Chili

1 can pinto beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1 pound ground beef browned
1 jar or can tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce
1 packet McCormick mild chili seasoning

Place all of the above in a crockpot and stir.
Cook on HIGH 4 hours.

Serve on a bed of spaghetti, with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Voila!

About bell peppers in a planter, not sure. Sure would be nice on the patio though, huh? All I can think of is to check online.

About beans, I really do not like. However, I can tolerate pinto beans when making Cincinnati Chili.

How is everyone?

Today I started the fruit and veggie challenge. I guess I didn't realize how few of them I had been eating. I had a little more money this week so I got a lot of produce. I found a few recipes here on Spark that I am going to try with it.

I have a slow cooker which I just love. I have severe fatigue due to MS and I like that I can just toss stuff in it and dinner almost cooks itself. One of my favorite things to cook in it is beans. I have a recipe for pinto or black beans that is good for a bowl-of-beans with cornbread or rice but is also good for nachos and burritos. I normally soak the beans Friday, cook them Saturday and then reheat them on Sunday. I have found that if you put about a 2" section of kombu in for half of the cooking time it takes almost all the gas out of them.

Anyone ever grown a bell pepper plant in a pot? I have a little patio/porch and I want to try container gardening at my apartment.

Hello team... As I am needing to up the articles today, a Sparkpeople form letter is in order for today, which I know is annoying. However, I want to reach all of my Sparkfriends. So, a form letter is the best way I know how.

The articles have been interesting... "Sleep Inducing Drinks For Insomniacs", "Does Sex Make You Sleep Better", "Let's Chat About Bottled Water", "How To Throw A Large Party In A Small Space", etc. If you ever have any suggestions, I am all ears!

As for Easter, the roommates are having ham. I do not eat ham. So, I was going to have lasagna. The girl who picked up our inventory forgot to grab the cottage cheese for the lasagna. So, I am simply going to make myself bacon, eggs and toast. I am going to like this dinner whether I like or not. I may even spend the day in my jammies!

As for activity, I am so frustrated. I have been on Sparkpeople since 2015 and still have a problem of logging in my activity. What do I do to solve this problem? I get all kinds of activity. Forget to log it in by bed. Wake up and want to kick myself in the butt. This is a chronic problem. Is it that I don't think I have done enough and am discouraged? Any tips?

I lost my pedometer last week. I lead a pedometer team. Huh? Calgon, take me away.

Tonight, I will be working on articles. I am now content with the job. It is an all womens' website. I have been with this website since September.

I work for other websites, but for the other websites, I mostly edit other writers' work and it is more of a side hustle.

Recently, for my job, I did an article on alternatives to spanking your child. I am totally against spanking. When I told my friends about my article, they were appalled. They told me they are totally for spanking. Unreal. Their true colors have shown and I am so glad I do not have little ones because I would have trusted them with my little ones.

As I now have an NCP scanner, I have to learn how to use the darn thing. First, one must make a test run. So, a roommate showed me how to do use it and we scanned a few things. Although well worth it, using a scanner is very hard at first. I would love to one day accumulate enough points to get a Keurig. So, I better get my behind in gear.

I am getting a late start in my day.

For lunch, I made BLTs with potato chips. For dinner, burgers. Nothing spectacular, but something.

Laundry is needing to be accomplished tomorrow. My basket is the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

For Lent, I am taking 40 things out of my closet, bookshelves, etc. to give to charity. A kind-of neat way to give up something.

I made a decision this evening to work Monday - Friday and exercise on the weekends. I think this is a wise decision. By the time I am finished working, I am so exhausted. What do you think?

My roommate cooked dinner today. She made fish, mac n cheese and baked beans.

No major bargains to brag about today as I did not go shopping.

Hello team.

Due to personal reasons, I had a really tough week.

How are you?

I am exhausted but wanted to tell you that I have not quit.

Today, I did two submissions, did dishes twice, did two loads of laundry, made dinner and worked on one side hustle.

Also, I wrote a Sparkpeople blog. I got a message from one Sparkfriend. I wonder if I quit Sparkpeople if my absence would even be missed. I could easily quit and work for money in it's place. I volunteer as a team leader out of the kindness of my heart.

So, I give Sparkpeople one more week. Should I stay or should I go?

What are some staples that you buy at Dollar Tree?

I usually like to buy the flavored coffee. However, the store has been out of stock for over a month. If you buy on-line, you have to buy a case, which would be 24 bags. As I have no credit card and have to budget my money week by week, this is not something I may do...even if I used a pre-paid credit card.

I like to buy peanut butter, but the containers are so small.

Hello team!
How are you today? I am happy to say that I have one article down, one to go. Side hustles to do yet. But for right now, I need a little Sparkpeople! Don't we all?

My article was on What To Do When You Just Can't Live Without Him. My next one is about Working From Home. Next, my side hustles are easy but time-consuming, such as surveys. Hummm...I wonder what Sparkpeople is.....?

The water consumption is super. I get in 80 ounces a day. They say to drink half your body weight in ounces. So, for example, 160 pounds = 80 ounces. What are you drinking right now? Believe me, I love my diet soda. I had to discipline myself. Not easy.

I asked the girls what they wanted for dinner. I got grumble and growl. They said they'd fend for themselves. So, I put a crockpot of vegetable soup on. I know them like yesterday. They'll be the first to ask when the vegetable soup is ready. My roommates know one word...food.

The exercise is becoming consistent. I like to fitness pedal exercise for 30 minutes which burns over 300 calories. So, I can burn off even a meal. Very good, very good, yay! I do lace up my gym shoes for basic walking around the house, out in public, to-and-from wherever I go.

The dating scene is just not there. I must look awful. I signed up for some dating newsletters from some dating blogs but have not gotten the first newsletters yet. I will keep you informed.

I recently read a Sparkblog by READYSTEADYGOGO about finding light in the darkness. I recommend it to anyone. When you think you are at your darkest moment, learn something new!!! FIND light. For example, take a free on-line class, read a new book, get on Sparkpeople and join a new team, etc. The options are endless!

I went through a whole lot of hassle to get to Dollar Tree today. Got there, the shelf was cleared of flavored coffee. I am NOT happy. I have a morning and evening ritual of flavored iced coffee. Cannot get there again until late next week. Say it isn't so!

I grabbed a handful of coupons at the library yesterday. Can't wait to clip! I want Chex coupons so I may make Chex Mix Party Mix. By the way, Dollar Tree, has already packaged Chex Mix Party Mix bags in stock. Good to know if you don't feel like making it yourself. I like to have the party mix when I need something quick and easy in-between meals.

I cannot always get what I need on inventory. I always cook what the housemates want for dinner. So, yesterday, I went to the grocery store and bought myself:

Lunch meat that was on sale $2.99 a pound!

Ingredients for pizza butter.

Ingredients for a healthy dessert.

A snack to have a little something to crunch on.

No, I will NOT share with the housemates.

Since I did not make dinner yesterday, guess what the housemates did? Got pizza. They call themselves independent?

Today I will be making cabbage and noodles in the crockpot for dinner. I am craving some egg noodles. I like all pasta, but egg noodles are in a class all their own.

I remember growing up, my mother would make homemade pasta. While the pasta dried on the table with flour, I would wait for my mother to leave the room so I could eat some raw noodles. For some odd reason, I liked the taste.

I am feeling sorry for myself. I am in a funk. My blog would explain.

For Christmas Eve, I am making a crockpot of wedding soup. I cannot wait!

Maybe I could make some buckeyes too. I found a super easy recipe on YouTube. One jar of peanut butter and one jar of chocolate icing. Just layer the two. I lack common sense and was thinking it would be too technical for me to do.

Should I start a blog about cookbooks? Members could share favorite recipes from any cookbook that they want. Maybe THAT would get me out of this funk?

Hello! For some odd reason I am exhausted today and will make this message brief and on all of my teams.

Yesterday, I did an article on The Bath & Body Works Experience. Today, I did an article on How To Know If A Man Loves You. Wish me luck on many views.

Today, I did a 16 minute walk of a Walk Away The Pounds DVD and got bored.

For dinner, I made Cincinnati Chili. Used a sauce I have never used before and the sauce was nasty. Classico creamy tomato and aged cheese with garlic. Don't do it! uuugh

Tonight, 2 of my articles will go live, both about couples... (1) about nicknames and (2) about Christmas presents. Pray they get many views. :)

Last night, I was a mess. I was sick and could not sleep at all. Today, I felt like a zombie. The roommates and I simply bought pizza from Gionino's for dinner. A luxury.

I have cleaned up the team Dealing With Our Fears. Here is to hoping for activity and new members. Kindly pass the word around.

Then, I was going to do 30 minutes of activity every night before bed. I have decided to simply calculate my activity from my pedometer from throughout the day. Also, I was going to read The Carb Lover's Diet before bed, but the book is so dry that I cannot get into it. I do need my rest and do not want to burn out. I have 12 topics jotted down on paper to research and write about. No joke.

I was out today playing baseball with my boys for 30 minutes and then we walked for 10 miles and also had a healthy picnic lunch on our walk we found a nice shaded spot to set up the picnic blanket and eat lunch.
