well, sister, I have gone back up to 219 again during this last 6 months. Apparently I am not behaving myself as I should, and so more discipline is forthcoming. I honestly need to eat more often than I do. I also need to continue drinking lots of water. I'm hoping that I can get into a pool for regular exercise. We'll see what I can manage to do about that, eh?

Fair weather and favorable winds to you on your journey about finding nifty thrifty wearables. Keep us posted. Or rather keep me posted, if you will, since it appears we are the only ones in the vast space we call Eating on a Budget.

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

Well, I am going to be honest with you. I have gained alot of weight. I have gone from 160 pounds to 176 pounds. I can barely buckle my blue jeans. Tomorrow I am going to a Christmas craft boutique then to a thrift store to buy some larger clothes. I am petite in height & thrift shops barely ever carry petite sizes. So, would you kindly pray that I find a few pairs of pants? I would appreciate it! To be specific, I need 16P. uuugh Now I am in the obese category. Anyway, thank you!

Eating healthy on a budget includes covering emotional-eating, etc. My feeling about my inability to communicate has been making me pay attention to how I speak with others. It goes beyond what I say, it is about what I ask, how I assimilate information, and more.

I'm trying to learn and communicate about the Revised Common Lectionary now, at my local church, with my neighbors, here at Sparkteams. Regular Bible studies are one way some folks find wisdom for living, even choices for eating and breaking habits. RCL readings are based upon the Tradition that goes back to Babylonian Captivity, was part of the synagogue worship/fellowship of Jesus' day, and with slight changes operates today.

So, aside from baking things too long they get "extra crispy", that's what I'm struggling with.

Gralan, if you ever need to talk, I am here. I am in a totally different situation. I cannot find a man. I have done everything in my power. I have searched church, library, post office, grocery stores, etc. I refuse to search on-line though.

Yes, this is a team about food. However, also about health. Bad relationships bring bad health. Have a super day & again, I am here.

I'm struggling for a couple weeks now regarding my ability to communicate truly and well with others. This is particularly true with my wife and family. For some reason I'm failing. And when I get insistent I'm asked if I'm taking my meds, or back to drinking heavily again.

I'm at a point where I'm not sure if I should settle for my marriage just being a relationship with someone who used to be my best friend? That's not a horrible situation, given varied alternatives. I can learn to be my own self more, but I'd always considered that such an effort was intentionally going in the wrong direction for a spouse.

Praying and struggling. Thanks for letting me vent and put this on record somewhere.

I used the onions-peppers-cheese-sliced tomato-eggs, and prior to eating, I put plain yogurt as a sub for sour cream. I felt that salsa would've been redundant given the trio of veggies are what my salsa is made of.

Breakfast tacos should be an inspiration for looking at things to have with potatoes (or in Spanish, papas). Many eat hash browns, fried tators, etc., with Bfast, so anything you'd eat for breakfast with those should work in a casserole or atop a tator like an "Irish Sundae". I used to buy those at the Fairs and Carnivals up in the Pacific NW, sour cream-onion-olives-sausage-and more piled atop a large potato. Sometimes they even did tator-halves which were deep-fried. Oh my.

I'd say 8-10 minutes to start with and then make adjustments as you need. If you keep track of these findings on a note in the kitchen then you'll have that to assist you in cooking in the microwave later.

I put together hacks for converting recipes to use in a Microwave. I created an image and it is posted in Team Photos.

Basic baked potato is 450F for 50min. That equates to nuking it on High (~450-500F) at least for 25% of the time. Of course it matters how many you are cooking, what their size is, and if you cover it with a lid, bowl, damp paper towel, &c.

Ciao for now,
Chow for L8rs.
hahaha

GRALAN,

I have heard of having baked potatoes for breakfast.

How many minutes of nuking?

What is something usually associated with breakfast that is also good on baked potatoes? For example, has anyone ever used butter & jelly?

Trying to reconcile my disappointments with the knowledge that some things are worth shrugging-off.

I like to cook more than one potato in the microwave. It allows me to make a breakfast dish quickly like I did this morning with a little cheese, tomato, onion, chile peppers. I can use it to make potato salad, or potato soup quickly. That eases some of my cooking meals blues.

Thanks.
I'll look up courses I might attend locally, even if I just show up for everything but the tests... perhaps a former pastor of ours who teaches at Incarnate Word could help direct me.

I am trying to gather materials actively so that I can complete my degree program, I'd need to resubmit my previous work perhaps and certainly pay an extension fee to the School. I need to write three complete lessons -- with multiple modules and Q/A. I had reached that point when my computer fried taking my works in progress and I became discouraged.

Oh what a fragile ego I have. But then again, I'm a male so that goes without saying... according to my female relatives. Like saying water is wet.

gearing up for worship tomorrow and civil rights gathering in the afternoon.

Thanks for the Triage Care. I truly am one sick puppy.

GRALAN, you have been thinking way too hard. Breathe!

Have you ever thought about taking night classes at a local university by observation? You probably know that if you only "observe", then the class is tuition-free. You could discuss these topics with alike people. Simply a suggestion.

On Pinterest, search free on-line courses. There are tons if you want to go the free on-line course route.

Inhale. Exhale.

I'm struggling with my Depression of late, exacerbated by my insomnia. With the rising heat, I'm finding again that my dizziness is not impacted by that. Did you know that June 2019 set a record for the hottest June ever? Even up in Alaska! And we have unusually record rains and weather patterns due to the Global Climate changing. NASA is paying attention to this, as well as other nations Space programs, including private launches for satellites and probes. Btw, it is getting crowded up there in the orbit around our planet.

I struggle with those who think Global Climate Change is not happening. Facts are facts. The real question is about the level of human culpability. That depends mainly on how much the atmosphere absorbs or reflects solar heat. It is similar to the Ozone Crisis we had, that Reagan and Thatcher got together and spearheaded the effort to reduce chemicals that ate/dissolved the Earth's natural and protective Ozone layer.

Some things we can deal with, at a personal level for our health and comfort. I'm not sure what we can do ultimately, and since humans have a predilection for mass destruction and species extinction I am not sure we won't be hastening what some extremists think is a good idea. Get rid of the parasites they call humans so that the planet can heal for all the other plants and animals.

I don't agree with that position, but for those who believe in Macro-Evolution (species change to become other species) then human beings are just accidents that happened for no reason. First, there was nothing, then suddenly something came to be, and Bob's your uncle.

Darwinism and Neo-Darwinism can't even defend personal free will for human beings, as anything we think, do, ignore, prefer, or choose is based on chemical and electrical interactions in our bodies. Some folks deny that position for themselves, but that is actually what the "experts" of Humanistic Natural Materialism insist is the facts. For those who don't know, that last phrase is the philosophical stance of Darwinism in any form. And everybody believes in Micro-Evolution: species experience change.

And European Scientists argue between themselves in the controversy between Darwinism and Neo-Darwinism. They are not the same thing, no matter what some teacher, some textbooks, and even some scientists say. Hard Sciences are merely a methodology for learning about natural things in the natural universe. Soft Sciences like Sociology, Philosophy, History, Language Studies, the Law, etc., deal with things that cannot be repeated in a controlled laboratory/environ. Hard Science cannot prove that Abraham Lincoln existed, but Soft Sciences can provide proof quite clearly enough that he did indeed exist.

Oh well, as you can tell I'm struggling with people who make reality seem like it just matters what you think or believe, no matter if it is true for other people. That's our society in a nutshell, though many of us do not agree. If there is no universal truth, then that statement is the only universal truth; which is an oxymoronic, illogical, and self-referentially incoherent statement. Hello?

My wife's caregiver came today, on Sunday because she missed Friday work. She has shown up late, including today, just about every day she's worked. And in Texas, I cannot get paid by the State to take care of my wife even though I've worked in Texas as a caregiver for an agency called Girling when we lived in Canyon Lake. That is because I'm her husband. If I was her ex-husband, brother, parent, or child I could do it and get a check (~$10 an hr, 23 hrs a week). But not for me.

There is a movement in Divorce in the USA, so popular it has a name: Medicaid-Divorce. It means legally the couple gets divorced but they stay together so that the spouse can get paid as a caregiver in States like Texas that doesn't allow married folks to do that. My wife and I will not do that. There are also folks who divorce to try to maneuver their assests so that one or both can qualify for Medicaid.

I'm trying to walk the line between being loving and authentic, versus concerned and frank. Being authentic means being true to oneself, others, and in the moment. Being frank is blurting out whatever. Often folks misunderstand "telling it like it is" doesn't mean "coughing up and spitting out whatever is stuck in your throat at the time".

I'm also realizing I need to make sure I am not increasing the burden, dumping on, or taking advantage of other people while I'm in the process of accepting what is going on in my relationship with God and this world. So I took my wife to breakfast this morning and ate 5 pancakes w) hot chocolate, got my walking done, and now we're going to take a nap with the kitties in the back room and listen to public radio. Comfort food, exercise, being with friendlies and my best friend, classical music... priceless.

I just had so much anxiety for most of today. I have not done anything out of the ordinary, so I am clueless.

Maybe some love from Sparkpeople is going to make all the anxiety stop.

Yes, this is a food team, but sometimes we need to share how our days are going. Do you agree? Kind-of like talking over a cup of coffee or a can of beer.
