Ok... I know potato chips are not healthy, but in moderation are Ok...

The local grocery store had potato chips $1.00 a bag. I bought 3 bags.
Then, I bought a jar of Goober, which if I remember was about $3.49. I saw the Goober and had to have it. My mother would often make me Goober sandwiches when she packed my elementary lunch.

A tidbit of knowledge? My last year of elementary school, I worked in the cafeteria and would get a free lunch for working!

There are storage bags that have a vent built into them, in a circular reinforced spot. When you attach a vacuum pump to it the air is sucked out and now the food or liquid inside can be in the fridge or the freezer for longer.

I'm convinced I ought to be able to create the valve, or something akin to it, that will allow me to seal regular freezer ziplock bags that have been adapted.

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

I'm not sure if I'm all here, but I am bouncing around the forums and threads again. It is good to see friendly members still plugging away with the team. So, I'm glad to be back and I'm glad you are still here!

How about that! hahaha emoticon

I like the idea of crunch with salads, and I also extend that to any soft foods (soup, casseroles, pasta dishes, etc.) Perhaps I hold the line if I'm eating porridge or oatmeal, but...

When I shopped Goodwill thrift store, while waiting for my wife to get out of her doctor's appointment, I found a new hand-held battery operated vacuum-sealer that I hope to utilize for storing foods = $2. I don't want to buy the expensive bags with the built-in seals, however. Got a trick for that?

There are a few quart bags provided, but really? I've got to fix up double-seal ziplock bags to work with this. Getting the vacuum is the big hurdle, keeping it is the next step. hahaha

Gralan... You have returned! emoticon I missed you!

I do not live near a Target.

You are going to have some good salads! Maybe make some up ahead of time in jars and have ready to grab and go from the fridge? I love to do so. I put the dressing on the bottom and croutons on top. I need that crunch.

I'm glad you caught those bargains, it is always a surprise what one can find. The hunt is fun, in my opinion. I shop at Target Superstore for that reason, and tonight found a $3.68 16oz bag of chopt kale with a $3.00 off sticker. Two Asian Sesame salad kits cost 99 cents each after the $3 OFF stickers on them. But you have to watch out, right now Target has some prices on the shelves and higher prices ring up at the cash register. I check the receipt every time and get refunds immediately from the service counter.

Yesterday, I had my mind made up. I was not going to tolerate my generic coffee makers anymore.

Mind you, it was below 25 temperature-wise.

I had my mind set on a thrift store near me. January is half-off month too. But, they were closed, but not according to their sign. So, I still did not give up.

A town miles from here has a Goodwill. My roommate said no that we were not going. But, I still did not lose my faith.

Later on, my roommate asked me if I wanted to go. Yes!

We got to GoodWill. It was getting dark and I did not want to stay long, especially because of the weather.

I walked in and went straight to electronics. Nothing.

So, I asked a couple of lady workers there if they saw one. Well, yes, but it was the kind with all of the bells and whistles. Guess how much? It was a Ninja and $99.00. I had $15.00 to spend.

Well, I thought, one more peek at the store. Well, you know those shelf carts on wheels that workers place stuff on to place the items on display in the store? You know, the stuff from the stock room that has not been displayed yet.

YES!!!!! There he was! A gorgeous new coffee maker! $6.00!!!!!

Then, I never have enough water bottles, so I bought 2 water bottles for $2.00 each.

I am happy.
