Lainie, I can imagine how much Rocky misses Marlene...a week will seem like such a long time. So sorry the rash is from the new med that helps you so much. Hopefully the doctor can find something else that will work as well.

Kathy, so happy to have you back with us. I didn't call yesterday like I told the chatty ladies here b/c I remember Jamie was there and you guys were celebrating Jim's b/d. NOW you are back and it is so good for all of us to have you back with us. Yep, the great grand "girl" is going to be here in less than a month...There was a baby shower on Saturday and she got a lot of nice things. Glad you got your new car and especially that the gas mileage is good on it.

Lainie, I am so sorry you rash is bothering you so much. Hopefully you will be able to see a new doctor and can get something for the rash. A 1st appt usually takes more time so you may not get in right away, but the Urgent Care is a good place to go for immediate help.

Kitt, What are you up to today

We are going bowling to practice today. Larry is able to start bowling this week and is really happy about that. Bowling is Wednesday and he wants to practice. Starting Thursday all of his restrictions will be over except things like chainsaws, weed whackers, etc being close to his body. The cardioinverter that was implanted and the meds are doing a great job with keeping his heart rate at a steady number. We are both so relieved. Thank all of you for your prayers for us during this stressful time we went through.

Good morning, so happy to see Kathy here ! emoticon

Kathy that is nice that you had Jim's birthday with Jamie and family there. Yes your Thanksgiving holiday will soon be here. Yes we had a nice drive and visit with our friends, her daughter and grandchildren dropped in so that made it good.

Lainie, sorry the rash isn't getting any better. Hope this doctor will take new patients.

Emily good that you were able to get out, but sorry the shingles have hit you so hard. Get well soon.

Kitt good morning to you.

Not much going on today, will do some laundry and cleaning.

Kathy, it's great to have you back. We sure did miss you. Just don't overdo it. Glad you had a great day with family for Jim's birthday and Jamie was able to make it home.

The rash is driving me crazy right now. It's very itchy. I need to get some cream on it soon. I think I may have found a dr. to go to. Hopefully, he takes new patients. I'm going to call tomorrow. If I can't get in, I may have to go to Urgent Care to get something stronger for this rash. I just hope it hasn't reached infection status yet. I'm definitely not taking this medicine any more.

Hi Ladies,

I am so happy to be allowed to have a little computer time starting today, that I am posting before I hit the hay in a few minutes. Jamie is going home this morning and Jim is planning on getting a little yard work done before my therapy appointment. We had the family over today to celebrate Jim's birthday and had a very nice afternoon. We did some of our holiday planning while we was together for Thanksgiving. It will be here before we know it.

Lainie, I am so sorry that you are allergic to that medicine for your diabetes. I hope the rash goes away soon. I'm glad to hear that Rocky is enjoying his time with Marlene and that you like her also. I'm sure that you did enjoy having him to yourself today.

Nancy, I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with Em and little AJ and that Larry and Joey went to hunt camp, if even for just a day. Soon, you will have an adorable great-granddaughter and that will be fun.

Kitt, You will love your trip to Delaware. It is such a scenic town. It is only about 45 minutes, or a little less, from us and we get there fairly often. I heard that you got a 5th wheel. How fun for you and Gary! Congratulations.

Barbara, I hope you enjoyed your drive today and the stop at your friend's house. That always makes for a very pleasant afternoon.

Veronique, I am so sorry to hear about Phillippe. Has he been able to return to his job yet? I am just thankful that it didn't happen while you was on your vacation. I am happy that you got to go over to W.Va. for a nice hike today.

Emily, I am so sorry about your shingles. It sounds as though you have a very severe case of it. I am glad you felt well enough to go out for a nice ride today. I hope you get better every day.

By the way, we did get our new car while I've been gone. We haven't sold our other one yet, but it is on the market. Both of us really like it and the gas mileage is very impressive.

Hello Ladies!

I've had a busy day today. I'm confirming appointments for the events tomorrow. There's aren't very many appointments this time. I still have one more round to confirm and that's only a few appointments. Rocky and I went to Sprouts and Whole Foods this afternoon. Sprouts is much cheaper than Whole Foods, but they don't have the sparkling water Rocky likes. That's why we go to Whole Foods. I'm fixing a roast today. It should be ready by the time Rocky gets home from the movies. He went to see Fury. He's missing Marlene. She went to visit who parents for a week. They live in southeastern California within walking distance of Mexico. They went to Mexico yesterday and today to visit her grandparents. The dogs and I are loving having Rocky to ourselves. I really like Marlene. They have so much in common; a lot of the same interests.

I'm doing laundry today as well. I'm folding Rocky's clothes he had in the dryer. I have 3 loads to do. I will probably end up folding his other load of clothes too.

I'm still dealing with this rash. As long as I keep an ointment on it, it doesn't itch too bad. At night, I put diaper rash cream on it, which the dr. recommended the last time I had it. This is definitely from the new medication. The rash had pretty much cleared up and came back shortly after I started taking the medication again. So I guess my insurance not covering it now is a blessing.

Veronique, so sorry to hear about Phillippe's seizure that landed him in the hospital. My younger brother had epilepsy and was always having seizures until they found the right medicine for him to take. He's the one who died from lung cancer. His daughter also has epilepsy and is on medication. She's been doing really well. Glad to hear he's doing better. I know that was scary for you.

Barbara, hope you enjoyed your drive and visit with your friends.

Nancy, glad you enjoyed your time with Em and AJ.

Kitt, glad to hear you're doing good and keeping busy.

Emily, it was great to hear from you. Sorry that the medication is causing you to sleep too much. I'm glad that you were able to get out and enjoy the Fall colors.

Hope everyone has a great evening! Take care!

Hugs,

Lainie

Hi everyone!

Seems I am sleeping more than anything else. Joe did take me for a ride yesterday to Canaan Valley State Park. There is a new highway being built near here and once done will make a big difference. The trip was about 25 minutes shorter in time. When the road is done it should be even faster. But boy did that wipe me out. We did walk around in the park lodge and found out seniors can use the indoor poor, sauna, and gym for $4.00 and it is open all the time. We might just do that some day. Then we went to a Loom Barn where weavers where working. Very interesting and beautiful things for sale. Finally we had lunch and then drove home. Most of the trees there were past there prime but as we got closer to home the trees where still very colorful. It was a lovely day out.

But all that out and about sucked my energy. I fixed breakfast this morning, cleaned up and promptly went back to sleep and slept until 5 this afternoon. Now trying to stay awake on till bed time.

Going to read through the chats here and check back in after I see the doctor on Thursday. Take care!!

Funny about the soup. Last year one time when I made it, I gave some to one of my neighbor's and she loved it, but the husband didn't like curry. I think it would be okay to find something to substitute or just leave the curry out. Both of us like curry. I froze mine and it does well. Your stuffed pepper soups sounds good, except Hubby can't eat peppers.....they talk to him for days. lol

Barb, I was surprised the guys came home yesterday too. It rained all of the time they were putting the house together for Joey. They got soaked. They both had clean/dry clothes, but decided to come home anyway.

We are going to ride up the mountain to check out the fall foliage. We can see part of it from our house, but it will be a bigger show on top of the mountain.

Oh no Veronique, so sorry to hear about Philippe, hope he is feeling much better.

Lainie, glad you are looking for a good doctor, you need one. If the rash doesn't go away please go to ER. Did you check the side effects of the drug? Wonder if "rash" is part of it.

Nancy that is nice that you had a good visit with Em and AJ. The men never stayed overnight, I was surprised.

Kitt, beautiful 5th wheel and the apple pie looked so yummy.

Going for a drive this morning, it's another beautiful day. Will stop and have a tea with our friends.

Hello ladies!

Sorry I was missing in action all week. Philippe had a very bad epileptic seizure and had to stay in the hospital for a couple of days. He is fine now. It also takes a while to get back to the regulat routine after a long trip. But I had a chance to go hiking in West Virginia this afternoon and enjoyed it.

I read all your posts and it was wonderful to see Kathy's.
Lainie, I hope ypir rah goes away fast. Is it very itchy?

Hello Ladies!!

It might be a good thing not taking that medication, because the rash is back. I'm going to be doing a lot of research this weekend to find me a dr. So far the reviews for a couple of them weren't great. I will call Monday morning to get an appointment. I may end up on antibiotics again if this rash gets worse. I've been putting Neosporin on it. We'll see if that helps.

Rocky is taking the cars to get a bath today. One of his co-workers told him about a place that does hand car washes inside and out for a reasonable price. He's there with his car now and he will come back for my car and get it cleaned. Rocky's getting a wax on his car, but I'm just going to have them wash and vacuum mine. My car is so filthy. Now I won't be embarrassed to drive it. lol

I just finished confirming. I'm going to finish cleaning the house. Then I'm going to take a little nap until Rocky gets home. I'm not sure what we're going to do this afternoon. He's going bowling with his brother and a couple of their friends this evening. I'm going to be home watching my recorded shows and just relaxing.

I hope everyone is having a great day! Take care! Time to get the cleaning done.

Hugs,

Lainie

I really was nice to see the post from Kathy. Glad that Jamie is here for the weekend, to celebrate Jim's birthday.

Kitt, glad you are feeling better, can't wait to see pics of your new 5th wheel, they make them so nice now. A lot of people here go to the campsite and own them, they are just beautiful trailers.

Nancy you will have a good time with Em and AJ, glad it's a beautiful day.

Oh no Lainie, well that just sucks they won't let you have your strips and new med. I don't know what your strips cost but mine are almost $1 per strip, and if they want you to test 2 or 3 times a day, it runs into a lot of money. I'm so grateful my boss allows me to stay on their medical plan so I pay $38 a week and all my meds and dental etc are free.

no big plans for the day, might catch up with my shows today.

Kitt, I'm glad you're doing better. Spark was slower for me too earlier today, but seems better now.

Well, I'm not happy with Humana. I went to Walmart to pick up my prescriptions and I was told that Humana is no longer allowing me to get Invokana or my test trips. The Pharmacist sent the information to my dr. in Savannah. Hopefully, she can get Humana to override it and let me get the Invokana. I should find out Monday or Tuesday. I only have two pills left. Just when things are starting to come together and this happens. I guess I need to think positive that everything will work out okay.

Hello Ladies!!

We had a nice time last night. I forgot my glasses. I don't know how I did that. Guess I was in a hurry to leave the house. I had such a hard time reading the menu. I kept saying I can't believe I forgot my glasses. Rocky said that they were going to have a drinking game and take a sip every time I said that. lol Afterwards we went over to Target. I wanted to check out their bookcases. Unfortunately, the one I liked was $40 more than the one at Walmart. I have to go to Walmart and pick up my prescriptions tonight. I think I might go ahead and buy the one they have. I'm really tired of having all my books in boxes.

So today was weigh in day for me. I lost 2 lbs. I was so happy. I still have to enter it on the team thread, which I will do when I get done with this message. I think getting in the extra steps every day is helping. I'm also doing other exercises as well. I'm eating healthier too. I still have treats now and again, but I watch my portions and don't overdo it.

Nancy, will Reese's go with you to hunt camp if you go? I hope the rain has left your area.

Barbara, that's nice of you to take DIL's car in to get the snow tires on. Be careful driving in the wind and rain.

Kitt, I hope you're feeling better. If not, I hope you check in with the dr. if you're not.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the day!! Take care!!

Hugs,

Lainie

Hi Ladies, I just got home from therapy and got good news today. Starting Monday, I am allowed online for 30 minutes a day and then after two weeks, I will have another re-eval. I am going to use my 30 minutes for this team. I have missed all of you so much and can't wait to get caught up, which may take awhile. I glanced at a few messages and it sounds like you are all doing well except for poor Kitt.

Jamie is coming tonight for the weekend for Jim's birthday. The family is all coming over on Sunday.

Since I am not suppose to be here yet, I will get off, but I am excited for Monday to come. I will also go down to therapy twice a week instead of 3 times a week since I do well at doing my exercises at home.

Hugs

Good morning.

This morning I am taking Tylneil's car in to get snow tires on, and we have lots of wind and rain today. Thankfully the storm went out to sea, so not as bad as they predicted.

Nancy a trip into the camp would be nice this time of year.

Lainie, hope you enjoyed your dinner tonight, your outfit sounds lovely. I say wear the comfortable sandals, I wear mine too.

Kitt hope your migraine has gone and you are feeling a lot better.

Lainie, I hope you had a nice dinner last evening with Marlene and Rocky. I think it is so nice the 3 of you get along and do things together. Your outfit sounds absolutely beautiful. I love sea foam green. Not sure what is in store for us today. We might make a trip to the hunt camp this weekend, but not sure yet.

Kitt, I'm so sorry about the migraine. I hope you're feeling better by now.

Barbara, that is so sad about the fisherman and his wife. Cancer in the final stages is just awful. Lung cancer is very painful. My younger brother died from it. It was so nice of you and your co-worker to sit and listen with him. Talking about what they are going through will help him cope. I will keep them in my prayers.

Nancy, you're welcome. I would imagine Veronique has a lot to do after being on vacation for a few weeks. Hopefully, she will come back to us soon. I sure hope Kathy is doing better and can come back to us too.

We are going out to dinner tonight. Rocky warned me that he and Marlene are going to be a little dressier than normal. So I had to grab some of my nicer clothes and throw them in the wash. I settled for a long black skirt and a sea foam green ruffly top with black sandals. Rocky doesn't like these sandals. They are older than dirt, but they are comfortable. We're still not sure where we are going, but probably Mexican.

Kitt, I hope by now you are feeling better and getting some rest.

Barb, I am so sorry for your fisherman and his wife. I will have them in my prayers....it is so sad when a spouse (or actually anyone) passes away. I hope he will be able to find some peace. It was nice that you and your co-worker were able to stop and listen to him.

Wonder where Veronique is......I think I will call Kathy again tomorrow.....I have had a very busy week this week and not another chance to call her. I haven't even done all of my spark points today.

Lainie, thank you for telling us about the additional spark trophies for our spark points. I just went to look at them. Quite impressive

Hope you feel better Kitt.

Lainie, good plan to walk the dogs one at a time, it will also get you more walking in. I hope when your year is up that you won't need the expensive drug.

Nancy, that is so good that you were able to talk with the patients.

I stayed longer at the office today. One of our fishermen came by to talk, he was on his way to visit his wife at the hospital, she is on her last days of lung cancer, so sad, but he wanted to talk and Nina and I just listened. He seems so lost. Trying to learn everything that needs to get done, he's so used to her looking after all the bills, etc.

Lainie, sounds like a good idea with the dog walking, especially since you will get in more steps. There is a leash that you can get that is called an "easy walk" (we got at Pets Mart). and one called "gentle leader" which is supposed to keep them from pulling. We have the easy and it works really well. I agree, some people just need someone to talk to....they have been through a big ordeal and it helps to just not be alone. One man that is going home tomorrow hasn't anyone to help him at home b/c he lives along, so he is going to rehab. I would't want to live by myself.....I guess I like to talk too much to not have someone to talk with. lol..... No, I didn't notice the new trophies....I will have to go look....thanks for sharing that info. The man is here cutting the grass now. I was just ready to take him for a play in the front yard when he came. WE can go out after he is done.

Hello Ladies!!!

I've decided that I'm going to go back to take the dogs out one at a time. It will make it much easier for me and get me in more steps. Bailey doesn't like to go very far, so I'll take him first. He still gets scared over loud noises and people he doesn't know. He has gotten so big and strong and jerks me around making it very difficult to walk both dogs at the same time. Benny loves going for walks and he will walk at my pace. So I can take him farther.

Nancy, glad you had a good day at the Joint Center. Sometimes people just need company and that works out for you to listen and talk. I notice that a log of the older people we call just want to talk to us and won't necessarily set an appointment. I like to take the time to listen and chat with them.

Barbara, the Invokana is a fairly new drug. It's very expensive, but the dr. gave me a discount card so that I get it free for the first 4 months and then it's $5 for the next 8 months. If not for the discount card, I wouldn't be able to take this. I just home that after the year is up, I will be at a place where I won't need to take it any more. I just need to continue working on my fitness level. I think that is the key for me. Hope you have a great day at the office!

By the way, did y'all notice the new trophies for the Spark Points. They added new ones for those of us who have more than 100,000 points.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the day! Take care!

Hugs,

Lainie

Barb, have a good day at the office even though it isn't your normal day. Sun is trying to come out.

I got out of joint center early today.....got all of my work done and then went and greeted patients and checked to see if they needed something. One man just needed to talk....I can do that easily.......

good morning everyone. It almost looks like the sun is going to appear, predicting rain for later today.

I am headed to the office soon, not my usual day but the only day I could fit into my schedule this week.

Nancy, enjoy the joint centre today. Did good at bowling yesterday, I imagine Larry can't wait to be able to bowl again.

Lainie, sounds like just going to the gym or pool is a workout in itself. Glad this new diabetic med is working. I have never heard of it. I take metformin, and a nightly injection of lantus.

Nancy, this medication really does keep my blood sugars down. It can also help with weight loss, but it's not considered a weight loss drug. I'm glad you don't have to worry about flooding. Great job with your bowling today! That's great that Larry can go back to bowling next week. I know he must be happy.

Lainnie, while at one of Larry's appts yesterday, the nurse was talking about her husband having diabetes and this wonderful new medicine that he takes. It is the same as the one you just named. She said it has made his numbers go down really well. They are really happy with it. It is Invokana........nothing has worked as well for him before. Thank you for your concerns for me with the flooding......it will be in the lower areas......we are up on a hill,, so I am sure we won't have any problems. Sorry if I was misleading.

I bowled really well today and was happy about that......bowled at least my average every game. As a team, we did really well. Larry will be able to start bowling next Wednesday and he will be so happy to do that. Then the next week he will have cataract surgery so we will roll our games ahead of time. He doesn't have a recuping time for that. Hard to believe, but many people on our league have had the surgery and one went back bowling in 2 days. The doctor told Larry he could bowl the next day....seems odd to me. Have a great evening everyone. I am going to the joint center tomorrow.

Hello Ladies!

Thank you for your comments about going to the pool. My first goal is to find something to wear in the pool. I don't have shorts and a bath suit. I'm going to see if I can find something on clearance. Just walking to the pool area is good exercise too. Like I've said before, this place is not flat at all. I have to walk up a hill to get to the pool. The fitness center is even farther up the hill. I'm thinking that around noon might be a good time to go. I have to coordinate everything by my work schedule and the temperature since this is an outdoor pool. I'm looking forward to using it. I wish I was a swimmer.

It's been a busy day with work today. Since I've been here, I've started taking my lunch break at 12:30 and watching the Bold & the Beautiful and taking the dogs out. Since I've been back to taking the Invokana, I get very sleepy after lunch. So I usually check my voice mail messages and see if I have any call backs to do and then I take a nap for 30 minutes. When I wake up, I feel so refreshed and ready to finish my work day. I usually work until about 6:30.

Barbara, I'm glad the dr.'s visit went well. I think it will help you a lot to lose more weight before you have surgery. That's what my sister did for the second knee surgery. The first one she weighed more and it was more difficult for her. The second knee surgery she had lost maybe 50 lbs and it was better for her. You can do it!! We're here for you!!

Nancy, I sure hope that the flooding doesn't reach where you're at. There's been a lot of rain in Georgia too. They said we might have a few sprinkles here. It was cloudy up until around 2 p.m. today and now it's blue skies and sunshine and in the 70's.

Kitt, I know you're excited about getting the 5th wheel. Hopefully, you will find everything you need for it.

Hope everyone has a great evening!! Take care!!

Hugs,

Lainie

Barb, I agree with what you said to Lainie.......just go to the pool and enjoy any exercise you can get. It will help so much and even if you just "walk" in the water, you will be amazed at the resistance you get as you walk.......You don't have to swim........walking does a lot. They may also have classes and they give a pretty good workout. You can move at your own rate.

Thanks Nancy and Kitt, I know what I need to do, I just need to do it. I can with all my friends support too.

Nancy, hope you don't encounter any flooding, there is a storm coming up the Atlantic seaboard and supposed to bring high winds and lots of rain, late Thursday and Friday, I hope it goes out further and not inland.

Kitt, how exciting to go get your 5th wheel today. I am so happy for you ! Good luck at finding what you need for the kitchen.

Lainie, I think going to the pool and the gym will be just what you need. I stopped worrying about people seeing me in the pool, and just went and enjoyed it. Even just to walk around the pool is a fantastic workout.

Barbara, I am glad the dr has agreed you are"ready" for your replacement".....I think this is incentive enough for you to really get on track so you can have your replacements. One thing that helped me more than anything, is to make my menu ahead of time, at least a day ahead. If you make sure you include healthy snacks and portion controls. I think Kitt does her menu a week ahead. If you get the menu out each day and only eat what is on that paper, you will see a huge difference. Of course, this will help your diabetes too. If you slip up during the day, try to make an adjustment in the remaining menu for the rest of the day. Unexpected things happen to sometimes change the menu, but just work with it the best you can. After you get on your way to losing you will want to continue to lose and it will be somewhat easier b/c you will see results. . Good luck to you dear friend, b/c I know how much your knees hurt.... emoticon

Kitt, how exciting to be getting your 5th wheel today. When is your first trip......lol... I am sure you will find things you need for your 2nd home.

We have flood warnings in some areas today. We got 1.5" of rain since yesterday and it is still raining for today and tomorrow...... Clear starting on Friday.

It's been a long day, finally got home.

After the doctor talked and he was good, I thanked him for not beating around the bush. My knees are a mess, ready for knee replacement, which he will do, but he explained all the complications and the extra weight that won't help, I told him I don't want the replacements right now, I will go home and work hard at getting the weight off.
