Oh I hear ya!

We've been here since 1998, and have heard from a good ol' boy or two, that there are only TWO months when it's guaranteed NOT to snow: July & August

Have also heard it said that it can snow as late as July and as early as August!!!

We've experienced days when it has gone from 70F to 17F and have seen snow as late as June and as early as September.

But it's ALL good 'cause it's ALL Colorado. emoticon

This is Colorado, it's not crazy to me to have 60 in January & snow in May, lol. Infact, my mother has always said that we have more "white" Easters, than "white" Christmas' ! That's one of the millions of reasons why I LOVE my home! It's SO awsome to be able to workout outside almost all year long!

I would suggest you start with a water aerobic class, depending on your disability. My parents both have back problems & this works for them. I think the Y offers these classes. Also, there is a show on PBS called "Sit & Be Fit" that might work for you, that way you won't have to leave home. If you can't find when this is on tv, I'm sure you can google it & get DVD's. But, I would definately talk to your Dr or physical therapist 1st.

emoticon Hi! I am new to Spark People and live in Falcon, Colorado (just NE of Colorado Springs). I am disabled and am going to lose 219 LBS, but am looking for a gym that I could go to a couple times a week at least in Colorado Springs area that could accomadate a person who cannot stand and can only walk very short distances with a cane (I use a wheel chair). If anyone knows of one, please let me know!

Chisel on Tuesdays is my new favorite right now. I've been doing it consistently for about 6 weeks? It's a combination of strength training & cardio and the instructor Martine is awesome!

Hey everyone!! Summer is just about over. I hope everyone had a great one. Last week we had a blast taking in some attractions. We went to The Aquarium, Elitch's, Water World, and then Cherry Creek lake for some jet skiing. It was a great week but I was exhausted afterwards.

How about the weather? Cool nights, warm days but sun, sun, sun! I love it. I love getting out in the early mornings and walking in these nice, cool temps. I also love fall because of the cooler temps but that means that everything is going to start changing colors and all the greenness will be gone.

Grande-diva - congrats on the hike. AWESOME job!!

Hope you are all getting out and enjoying the Colorado Summer! I've been camping, and summited Mt. Margaret. Just under 8,000 feet. Not bad for a fat girl.

Hey! I'm in Akron! Buying clothes off the rack is one of my great motivations, too. And not spending $70 on a stinking bra because the size I need is considered a specialty. Anyway, moved here 2 years ago and I'm still not familiar with the outdoor exercise available around here. Any tips would be appreciated! Good luck with your weight loss and yay for you for doing Zumba!

Read a few of the posts and Castlewood Canyon is a great hiking area. Haven't been there in a few years. We'll have to hike there again this summer.

Hello All. I'm Lynda and I'm from Lyons. I'm in the process of starting over on my fitness goals. I'm at the end of a rough year and ready to start over and do things right. I'd love to find a buddy in Lyons or Longmont to chat with and for mutual motivation and encouragement.

I can relate so well to the person who said they'd love to walk into Target and buy something off the rack. It is discouraging when I see so many cute things that just won't fit me!!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Diane, you want something fun to do? Why not hike Castlewood Canyon State Park? Me and the fam go there every weekend that we can. It's just south of Franktown, so a short drive east for you. Lots of easy and moderate trails, and it's beautiful!

You never regret the workouts that you do. You regret the workouts that you DON'T do.

Isn't it great when you find an exercise that you love! It makes it so much easier.

Keep up the good work - I remember how great it felt when I was able to buy clothes at the regular stores (my high weight was 225). Keep at it and you will get there.

Persistence Pays !!

Hi from Fort Morgan! I have an unnatural fear of exercise, so motivation is something I need, too. I have been doing the Zumba DVDs and I love them! They don't really feel like exercise and they go pretty quick. And I just keep thinking that this will help me to one day walk into Target and buy some clothes off the rack! Hopes this helps get you thinking about one of your goals, too. Hang in there! I'm here if you want to chat.

Good morning -

Williex - I am on my second round of P90X with a hybrid of Insanity. I have done both workouts on their own once. I love P90X. It is structured. Easily modified to fit your ability - you don't have to go as fast or hard as the dvd or Tony. Insanity is tough - do it after P90X it is major cardio - if you are ever interested in it. Doing both programs has dropped my body fat by over 10% since August 2010. They aren't necessarily weightloss programs as much as they are FITNESS programs. You will be in great shape (endurance, stamina, and cardio strength) than you have previously. I suggest pulling it out and giving it a try. It is worth its investment!
