I am feeling you too . I know this pain is never going a way so I try to think okay this is me now. I try to avoid procedures. Not going for anything until I can no longer move.
I have a stability ball and I used to work out with it all the time. Have not tried it for a while. I have the workout room set up as chickie central right now. I raise chickens and have been hit hard by coyotes so I am rebuilding my flock. I should start hatching some tomorrow and I should get the ones we ordered on Thursday LOL So there is no room to work out in there at the moment.
Working out in the main rooms is impossible with all the help I get from the cats and dogs LOL
I am trying to get back on track now my trip to Florida sort of threw me off a bit. I did walk daily but my mom was crazy with the food.
Hope all is well in your part of the world.
know we can do this :)

I feel your pain Arlene, I to have major back pain and there are days I just want to die :( but i keep going one day at a time. I no longer jog, and i used to love to run, but them days are over. I have had 2 surgery my last one over a year ago was a fusion, so now I ride my bike. If i ride at least every 3 days my back feels great, but if i stop riding for more then 4 it's like i have to start all over again and its a killer :(

I have also found that swimming works good for me, I started off slow and within 2 months I was swimming for 50min straight with no pain. Now i'm just fat and need to loose the weight so i can get ride of the pain lol

Another thing i found that helped was a stability ball. i can not do a sit up with out major back pain, but when I was told about the ball. WOW! huge difference, my problem is once i start using it after a week or two i feel 100% better then i stop :( and again I'm back to square one.

I asked my surgeon when the back pain would end, and straight up he said when i'm six feet under then the pain will be gone. So, what can we do but move forward one day at a time.

I eat very healthy. I cook from scratch at nearly every meal problem is my portions need to be cut back because I no longer hike for miles every day. And I am always hungry. Being an older women is a hard job LOL It is going to take some getting used too. But I am going to give it my best girl scout try.

For me, it turns out that I just need to not zip my lips when it comes to the good for me stuff. I don't know why I go on binges - well, I do it because I want to and I'll be good "tomorrow!" I feel better when I eat right and I can have a treat too. Silly me!

I hate PT but have considered a consultation for pointers. I have a home gym and for the past 2 days I have gone slow on the gazelle and stationary bike.I did a bit of light floor work and if it hurt I stopped. I guess even slow is better then nothing. I am a home health aide and have the critters by the time I have my chores done it does not leave me much energy left. But I am gonna push a bit more :) And zip the lips up a tad more.

Thanks for the support emoticon

Arlene, I don't think you should be ashamed of not working out. Your back hurts. That makes life really tough. I don't know, but I would recommend asking your doctor. I know there are those hand cycle things - I don't know if that would bother your back or not. If your insurance will let you see a physical therapist, perhaps that would be a path towards learning good exercises for your back and despite your back.
