I’m more focused on reusing the glass jars, but I had a candle that wouldn’t burn well that I left on a coffee cup warmer to release the scent.

Wake up every day knowing you make the decision to begin your journey anew.

This choice in this moment defines now.
What is your now?

Crumbled newspapers work great for doing windows and mirrors as well. I use a vinegar water mixture and dry them with the crumbled newspaper. Works alot better than the typical window spray and toweling!

What could you do with jar candles where the wax is fairly low?

I've seen so many neat craft ideas using corks--like wall hangings, trivets, etc., so I'd maybe check with our local Senior Center and donate them if I had a bit of them saved up.

What could you do with a deeply scratched end table?

I'd cut it to the length of a saw or other sharp edged item, cut it down the middle and use it to cover the blade or sharp edge to prevent any cuts, etc., while it's stored until needed.

I'd re-use the containers for divided storage inside my drawers, kitchen, desk or otherwise. I've re-used (empty) icing containers or other small food storage containers to hold things like extra buttons, paper clips, thumb tacks and push pins, rubberbands, etc.

What would you do with a garden hose that has a hole in the middle of it so half the water never gets to the end of the hose. Not sure if it can be taped...

I love to decorate with fun stuff -- and you can do alot of neat things with hats! I'm not sure if you want them around seeing as how they're your soon to be ex's -- but I'd have fun decorating with them if they have neat and interesting logos. Otherwise, I'd donate them to a local thrift shop!

What would you do with plastic containers that once stored tomato-based foods and now are stained?

My ponytail holders usually get repurposed as kitty toys (whether I like it or not). I often use the larger ones to hold things like pens or condiment packets in my junk drawer. The little ones I put on my pencil to keep the silly thing from rolling off my desk.

I know what you mean about the current fashion statement, but I just hate it and think it looks awful. (Which is why I'm wanting to get rid of all of those tee shirts.) To each his own, I suppose.

As for the bags, I'd save some of them for future use and take the rest to a recycling center.

Take the ugly pictures out of the frames and put pictures that you like in their place. If the pictures can't be removed you can put the nicer pictrures over them.

What would you do with a bunch of ratty tee shirts from rock concerts that you've worn so many times that they're full of holes?

(Oh, and thanks for the web site for donating the shoes. My soon to be ex has about a million pairs of tennis shoes that he's always leaving around for me to trip on. When he's finally my ex I do NOT want any of these shoes around the place anymore.)

I'd see how much it would cost to get it repaired, and if it cost a lot then I'd take it to a recycling center to have the metal in it recycled. (There's a problem here, though...in my mind I'm thinking of an evaporative cooler like most peole use here. They're made with a lot of metal, but I don't know if real air conditioning units are made with a lot of it. emoticon )

You could try selling them on-line at the various used book sites, or check with your local college bookstore and see if they would be interested in purchasing them to sell again at a lower price to another student who needs them!

I'd check with the manufacturer and see how much a new element would cost if I thought it was the problem. Or, even ask the salesperson at a hardware store -- and see if they thought it sounded like the problem also and if it was something that I was able to fix on my own. When it comes to electrical items, I like to make sure everything is safe before I tackle any fix-it projects.

If you wanted to sell them, I'd put an add in your local newspaper under the "collectible" category in the classified, as there are alot of collectors out there and you could get a pretty price for them to the right buyer.

I'd take it to the recycling company to 1) be recycled and 2) perhaps get some money for it (to help obtain a new or used one).

What about a set of cassette tapes that teach you how to speak Spanish. (Don't still have a cassette player!!!)

I'd donate it to a library and get a tax write off.

What would you do with a bunch of old gospel 78's from the Great Depression? My dad gave these to me but I don't have anything to play them on.

I started SP at 138 lbs in October 2010. My goal weight was supposed to be 125, which I reached on January 17, 2011. I have stayed at 125 (give or take a few pounds) ever since.

Since I don't have kids, I'd give the yarn to my cats to play with. The youngest would have a ball (pun intended)! If I had kids, I'd probably save it for craft projects at home or at school.

I'm not that certain about electrical items -- but I'd see if I could replace the cord safely and, if I was too uncertain about it, I'd remove the shade and save it for another lamp and, depending on the type of lamp base, it may make for an interesting decoration in another room by unscrewing or removing the electrical and light bulb section, add a few artificial greens around it a bit, and wa la.....a vase-like decoration!

Mending it isn't even an option for me. Depending on the sheet, I'd either tear it into rags for cleaning or donate it to the humane society for animal beds.

I would stuff the socks with dried beans or other fabric like stockings with runs, and made draft dodgers out of them. (I have actually done this. If you use the bean and Long socks, it makes for a very stretchy but competent draft dodger) I might stuff some of them with stuffing and let the dogs play with them or donate the stuffed socks to the animal shelter for their dogs. Or I might send them to the place in the USA that matches up socks and gives them to the needy.

Cut into shorter pieces, arrange in a tray, use as seed starter pots. Don't need a bottom as long as you don't move them out of the tray. Plant them right along with the seedlings, the cardboard will decompose.

Recycle and Reuse! Everyone has ways to reuse certain items that others may toss out or not know about ways to reuse and save the $ So, let's share ways to reuse, modify, etc., certain items that can save the $ and make that budget work for you and others!

SHARE THOSE GREAT IDEAS with:

What Would You Do With a _____ if I gave it to you?

Example: What would you do if I gave you an overripe tomato?

Next Member maybe would respond: "I'd cut and toss the overripe area and chopped up the remaining tomato and mix it with other veggies in a stir fry" - AND then leaves the same question of "What Would you do with ____ if I gave it to you? for the next member to reply and ask their "What would you do with ___ (item) if I gave it to you" question.

I'll start us out with the first one to get us started!

*Also, you don't need to type out the full sentence if you'd rather not, just leave an item that maybe someone else would throw out thinking there wasn't another use for the item and let's share those ideas, tips and way to use, reuse, recycle or modify it for another use in our daily lives!
