My DH and I stopped in Baton Rouge this morning and met Cassie for a short little visit. I'll get a picture of myself and Cassie and post it on my SparkPage once we get home from vacation. It was so nice to meet one of my SP friends!

Thanks for meeting us, Cassie. And your directions to Natchez were right on!

We've had a great vacation. We are now in West Monroe, LA and will visit the Duck Commander store tomorrow. My DH thinks he will see some of the Dynasty crew. I know there's a possibility, but I told him that there is NO WAY I'm going to sit in that parking lot just for a slight chance in spotting one of them. lol After that tomorrow, we are headed back north toward home. It's 13 1/2 hours home from here, so we will probably stop somewhere along the way tomorrow night, then finish out the trip home on Saturday.

Food?! I haven't been good at all. I dread getting on the scale at home. I have eaten a lot of sea food, but I have also eaten a lot of pralines. *sigh*

Kinks--My husband said something similar when I was struggling with the decision to self pay for the sleeve. He said we paid 3 times that much for our pickup and it lost value as soon as we drove it off the lot. My life has gained value!

It took me years to decide to have the surgery ~ similar thinking to yours: If I can't do this now, how will I do this after the surgery? Isn't this the "easy" way out? I'm still healthy, so why take such a drastic step? I'm not sure what exactly was the tipping point ~ a cancer diagnosis (thankfully caught early), my younger sister being diagnosed with diabetes, watching my daughter struggle with her weight... but finally decided I was tired of living this way.

My date is November 25th. I was able to schedule very quickly once I decided to go the self-pay route. Making that decision was a whole 'nother issue! I'm fortunate that I could borrow against my 401K to make this happen...

Kinkyscat~ I know how you feel about struggling with the decision to have surgery or not. I ask myself, why do I need to do something so drastic? why can't I do this myself? I have dieted for 36 years and have never kept the weight off. I have received insurance approval and am waiting for a date from my surgeon.
Do you have a date scheduled?

I really appreciate all of the comments on the difficulty making the decision to have this procedure done. Even after 2 years of fighting insurance companies, arranging private pay, and finally getting a surgery date I still question myself. After really thinking about why I hesitate, it came down to fear of failure and not feeling like I deserve to spend this much money on myself. One of my co-workers put the cost into perspective: I was willing to pay $30,000 for a new car but not $17,000 for a new body to put into that car. Wow. That really helped me come to terms with my own insecurity. As for failing, I've been doing that for 50 years when it comes to weight loss ~ I can only do better from here on out!

emoticon Hi everyone,

today is 11/4/13 and I got my approval letter from the insurance company for the GB surgery, I am in total shock and overjoyed after sooooooooooooo many years of being denied by the insurance company.

what made it different this time around? I changed doctors and my new doctor wrote a pre-determination letter with a list of my illnesses on there and a few weeks later, I got my approval letter today.... I am just in shock!

I just wanted to share that .. emoticon

In a rut this week emoticon

I eased up and let myself indulge a bit in a few cookies/ pieces of candy yesterday and a few more chips then I should have the last few days..... I have definitely hit a bit of a wall with sticking to my new habits and I KNOW that I need to STOP and turn around and head back the RIGHT way..... Losing the last 20 lbs is going to be a journey for sure! With that in mind, I am stepping away from the computer and heading out to go run for my lunch break, I will not sabotage all of this hard work that I have done over the last 7 months!!

I am not the same girl I used to be!!

I too struggled with the decision. I would lay awake at night wondering if I was doing the right thing. I would cry, change my mind, then cry some more. Then one night while laying in bed, I remembered something from my childhood in the 1950s. My grandma had 3/4 of her stomach removed due to bleeding ulcers. I remember being freaked out about it, but I also remember seeing her eat fried chicken for the first time, after having eaten nothing but bland for years. And she never put on weight. A huge calm came over me that night. I wasn't scared anymore. I thank grandma every day for "reminding" me from heaven. It saved my life. Grandma saved my life.

The endoscopy is no biggie (or at least for me) they put you out lightly like with a colonoscopy and they run a scope down your throat and look around at your stomach - want to make sure you don't have any problems that may complicate surgery - like a bleeding ulcer or something.

The surgery for me was/is a life saver - I would not have made it to an old woman - my husband needs hips replaced and it was an eye opener - no orthopedic doctor would even consider it and we saw several. He has to lose a minimum of 150 pounds to even be considered. So this was life saving for us -
you know the heavier we are the more complications and the less they can do about them - I want to be able to do things - I keep that picture in my head and ask myself - is that donut really worth giving up my dreams? The answer is always NO.

Linda~ It's good to hear your words of wisdom. I have been wrestling with myself even though I know this is the best thing I can do. I am getting over the hump, as you say. If it could just be done tomorrow I'd be good to go! Do you know what is expected when sleevers are elderly? I wonder about this but I also tell myself if I don't lose weight AND maintain it I may not live until I'm elderly. Did you have a endoscopy prior to the sleeve surgery? I've had a colonoscopy so it shouldn't be too different, lol. At least I don't have to prep like you do for a colonoscopy!!

Good luck with your plans, Joan! Hope it all works out for you.

Yes, it is a very strange concept to think you are voluntarily amputating a part of your body. I always used to say it was kind of like saying that you have really bad corpal tunnel syndrome so you want to have your hand amputated! It really felt that extreme to me. The thing is, there is no way to really conceive of how you will feel post-op and no way to understand how wonderful it will feel. For me, getting over that hump of knowing what an extreme step I was contemplating and finding the courage to do it anyway was the hardest part.

Keep us posted,
Linda

Hi all,

It is so inspiring to read about the small sizes some of you are wearing! emoticon

I decided to have the endoscopy on Friday. My insurance is going to change on Jan. 1st. Currently my co pay for in patient surgery is $750.00, after 1/1/14 I will pay a deductible which for the sleeve surgery would be $2,000. I have decided see if I can possibly get approved and have surgery before the end of the year and save $1250.00. I will talk to my surgeon and see if I can get him to allow me to have the surgery if I haven't lost 20# which for me is not probable in 2 months or less time.

I just can't believe I am planning to have part/most of my stomach removed by choice! Was this a strange concept to others? I have done a lot of research and I know that almost everyone is thrilled that they had this procedure done.

Thanks for any and all advice!! emoticon

Pat - I stalled for 2 weeks after surgery and didn't drop an ounce then all of sudden it started moving again - stick to the plan get your protein and water in - ask the doc about your sugar levels - it will happen be patient.

Kim - yea!!! smaller sizes are amazing. I can't wait to get there - I have a bunch of XL's in the closet and hoping I am there by Christmas!

Everyone keep up the great work.

I love to camp - Mom and Dad always had a trailer and it was great. DH and I love to ride a motorcycle - to me that is the only way to go - can't wait for his hip surgery so we can get back on the bike. We try to keep that picture in our head - it sure is good motivation.

Pat - yes, I had several stalls early on, which was very frustrating!! I think the body is just trying to adjust to such a shocking change.... I stalled at about 2 1/2 weeks for at least 10 days and then again after that.... Every one is different and their weight loss is very different!

try to stick with it, follow your doctor's plan to a T and the scale will start to move again....

Kim B. - You are doing amazing!!! Way to go! It's a great feeling when you have those surprise NSV's, like fitting into a size 10 pants :-)

Sometimes it is still very unreal to me that I have lost this much weight.... looking at the smaller size in my closet or seeing the smaller number on the scale reminds me that I have made a lot of progress in 7 months emoticon

AVONPAT, lots of us stall very early on. Try not to fret about that too much, your body is still in shock from the surgery and has lots of adjusting to do. You can probably expect a few stalls all along the way down the scales, too.

I can't address the sugar issue, but I'd recommend a call to your surgeon's office or talk to your NUT (nutritionist) and not let that ride too long.

Blessings,
Linda

Congrats, Kim, you're doing great! It feels so good when you get in those new, smaller sizes.

Wanda, we do drag our rig around pretty much everywhere. I hate staying in motels because I hate constantly packing/unpacking suitcases and dragging them back and forth to the car. I also don't like wondering who/what slept in the bed before I got there! LOL I do cook when we are on the road so we just do our thing.

Cassie, I forgot to respond to your comment about Y&R. I am so mad at the writers right now I don't even want to talk about it! LOL Stupid show!!!!! emoticon emoticon

Hi, Everyone. I have been MIA for a while. But I am back. I am down 108 lbs in gone from a 3x top to a lrg/med and pants from a 24 to a 10 I about died when I put the 10's on and the buttoned right up they are actually a tad loose but I dont want to go to an 8 and them be tight. Things have definately slowed down I lost 100lbs in 7 months but now at 9 months I am down 108 so only losing about a pound a week which is fine by me. My goal was to lose 101 which I have already passed so I changed my goal to an overall loss of 121lbs so I am only 13lbs from that goal. I feel great I have got to get better about exercise. Just got Zumba to do at home since the weather is getting cold.

Hi Cassie. I think we will be in NO about the 13th/14th,15th (ISH), then will head north. I'll have to keep in touch via SP to let you know when we will passing through BR headed back north. We reversed our itinerary, so that my DH could visit the Duck Dynasty store, which isn't open on Sundays, so West Monroe will be our last stop before heading home. I should probably get your phone #, so I can call when we are headed your way. Is there a way on SP to send a private message so that the number doesn't go out for everyone to see? I can't wait to meet you!!

Linda - That's our kind of camping, too. Although our fifth wheel is just 29 foot. We rarely pull it to take a vacation. We find that it's actually more expensive to pull it than to get hotels. And my DH doesn't want to pull it through any mountains. We like road-tripping, so we can just go wherever the road wants to take us, without worrying about pulling and parking the camper along the way. He says that we would probably eat our meals at restaurants rather than cooking in the camper, so we wouldn't save in that area. That said, when we do camp, we cook mostly over the open fire. Nothing like food cooked outdoors! I've never even used the oven in my camper. lol It's all done in cast iron or foil.

Many years ago, DH and I bought a tent and went out camping. I spent the entire night sleeping in a hole with a stick poking in my back. Next morning, I turned my back for a second while I was cooking breakfast and when I turned around again, there were two huge dogs eating our breakfast! We packed up the tent and returned it that very day!

I could definitely do that kind of "camping" Linda!! My DH was a boy scout and he did lots of roughing it back in the day.... I have pretty much said I will never go camping where I am sleeping outside in a tent!! Good Luck to my DD who is a girl scout, I'm not sure that she will ever get to go camping, if I have to go with her :-)

Hey Everyone,

Linda, I could get into your kind of camping!!! It does sound FUN!!! Especially since y'all have so many camping friends!!!

We drive and stop at places along the way that look interesting. We do have an ultimate destination. We love the mountains. So we usually head toward either the Smokey mountains or Rockies. David's brother lived in WY so when we visit them we go to the surrounding areas. I love vacation!!!!

By the way, what do you think about Y&R? I can't believe they let Delia get killed. It must be time for Adam to go.

I hope all is well with everyone!!!

Oh Cassie, I shouldnít say I go camping, what we do is go RVing. We have a ceiling fan, fireplace, side-by-side refrigerator, central vacuum and a stacked washer/dryer in our 36 ft. fifth wheel. I love my creature comforts and wonít stay in an RV park that doesnít have Wi-fi! Oh yeah, we also have satellite TVÖno, we donít go camping, we just drag our house around with us! LOL We do have a great time hanging with our friends, sight-seeing and shopping, though.

Hey Everyone,

I have been lurking, and just can't seem to get back since my brothers passing. I'm having a harder time than I thought I would.

Linda, I hope you had fun camping!!! It sounds lime fun, but my idea of camping is a hotel stay😃😃😃!!!

Wanda, I'm still looking forward to seeing you next month. We will be in NO November 18-19. We may even go down Sunday after church. I love walking in the Quarter, and just being in New Orleans. I'm sure you can lose the pounds. I'm trying to lose a few too. I still want to lose 20-30. My DH thinks I have lost enough. He told me yesterday when we left church, that I was skinny. Now let me just say I don't have anything skinny on my body, and have never been called skinny in my life!!!! So that was a great compliment.

Hink, I hope all is going well with you.

Everyone seems to be doing well!!! I hope y'all have a good day and week!!!

Hello,

I was going to have my endoscopy on Friday but I am delaying it due to my co pay of $250 because my van needs a new engine.

Jen~ Thanks for sharing the diet, sparkpeople info. I appreciate it. I am following The Simple Diet. It has worked well for me in the past.

Jeniwells - Thanks for the info from HC provider side. I am also having the surgery to permanently keep the weight off. I know it will still take hard work but I need this extra tool.

Joan - you can lose 20lbs. My opinion how - no fad or low carb diet. Write down everything you put in your mouth. I use Sparkpeople for this, make sure you add foods to your favorites as you find them. It will make things much quicker in the weeks to come. Also track your activity on Sparkpeople. There is a report called calorie differential that will tell you how many more calories you have burned than consumed. Every 3500 = 1 lb (doesn`t always happen, but at least you know you are doing the right thing.) If you are not tracking already pick 2 days a week to start and move up from there.

Sparkpeople has a lot of good information on Nutrtition and a balanced healthy diet. Read some articles. If you are thinking of going low carb read everything you can on here first. There is a difference between low carb and low refined carb. The latter can be very healthy. I can send you a link to the online nutrition classes my clinic requires people to complete before surgery. I lost a 30lbs from May - September, but have started losing much more now that I keep track of my CICO Calories in Calories out.

Have fun at your camping. Sounds like fun. I love to camp! We will be camping next weekend for the annual Halloween campout. Every year we seem to buy more and more decorations to make our campsite fun and scary. I'll wear my Glow Run outfit again. I should upload last year's photos when my DH and I were Wilma and Fred.

Happy Friday!

I'm stuggling right now... I've stalled on my weight loss. Not enough protein & water and too many carbs. Time to jump back on the wagon!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I met with the surgeon today and am scheduled for an endoscopy on the 25th. He said I MUST lose 20# before the surgery can be scheduled.

Wanda, I took a look at your Glow Run pix...I needed a good laugh this morning! Looks like y'all had a great time. It was also fun to look at all your other pix, too; I haven't visited your page in a while.

I've been pretty quiet lately, but I'm still lurking. We are right in the middle of the Texas National United Methodist Campers state-wide rally. Our chapter is hosting this year and I'm the group chaplain so I have a few responsibilities. We have about 60 rigs showing up at our Houston location so we've been pretty busy preparing. DH and I have been here since Monday and some participants began arriving yesterday, but most will show up today. The "official" rally runs today through Sunday morning so I'm not likely to drop by again until this thing is over and I've had a chance to get back home and rest my bones a bit. I'll lurk when I can, though.

It's so good to hear all the positive stories and plans! Everyone have fun and stay healthy!

Blessings,
Linda

I've made a commitment today that I will lose 5 pounds in the next 3.5 weeks - before we head out on our road trip. I gain 7 lb last November in Hawaii and I'm really scared that I'll gain more again this year. I haven't gotten that 7 pounds off! So tonight, I told my husband to quit bringing junk into the house, as I can't stay out of it. He had brought chocolate chip cookies and Hostess Cupcakes yesterday. They are gone now. He hid them. Even though I know they are somewhere in the house or garage, I won't go looking for them. But when they are staring me in the face, I'm weak!

Wish me luck girls! I took a 1.75 mile walk tonight. Will head to the pool tomorrow for an hour of water aerobics, then walk again every day until next week when I can go to the pool again.

I bought a FitBit and exceeded my 10,000 steps today. And stayed under my goal of 1,400 calories. I can do this, I can, I can, I can.

Oh, and I did the Glow Run (picture on my spark page) on Saturday. What fun!

Covatila~ Congrats on getting your date set! Happy Dance!

Hink~ So glad your check up went well.

Jeni~ Thanks for your info from working in the field. I, too have lost but never have been able to maintain. My only worry is reflux. I had the most awful reflux after my band slipped. I am not worried, well only as much as would be normal, about surgery.

I see the surgeon tomorrow and then my paperwork can be submitted for approval from my insurance company. Cross your fingers for me!

I am super happy and I finally feel like I've made progress with my sleeve surgery preparations. I now have a date set - February 17th. Yes it's far away, but it will be here before I know it, and I've got a lot to do before then! I have to get my passport, and book my flight (I'm having my surgery done by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico). I talked to my PCP about all of this and he was happy with the research I'd done, and trusts my judgement. I'd love to have it at the hospital 5 mins from my house, but that just isn't gonna happen for me - much less to pay $6500 than to pay $13,000-17,000. I just got the packet of info from the hospital, so that will be my reading material for the next few days...even thought everyone here has been so helpful, the info probably won't be new to me :) Have a great day everyone! And to any of you out there who are bosses....Happy Boss's Day! emoticon

Hey Everyone -- Hope you are having a good week!

I saw my Internist for my yearly physical yesterday, this was a new dr (actually my old dr that I decided to go back to after trying a new dr last year and not being too happy with their office at all).... anyway - he was great, he was really impressed with my progress from surgery and gave me a clean bill of health, saying keep up the good work and come in once a year to "show off" :-) I'm glad I followed my gut and decided to go back to their office.

Joan. Our hospital does still do a few bands. Like yours, they are outpatient procedures and go home the same day. I do occasionally see complications such as Gastric perforation ( small tear in the stomach) or persistent vomiting. Our surgeons recommend the sleeve or bypass much more often than the lap bands anymore. The only complication that I've ever seen was from some one who also had their gallbladder taken out at the same time. This person developed a bile leak and battled a couple months of drains and abscesses but these were a complication of the chole not the sleeve. This sx is permanent but for me that's what I needed. I have lost many times but could never maintain. I needed a permanent portion control option and love it. Now to be fair I am not in maintenance phase yet but am very confident that I can continue to work this new lifestyle. I myself have had no side effect except maybe some mild heartburn with carbs but Pepcid works so it's not really a big deal. My advise is go with your gut! Sorry for the pun but do only what you feel is right.

Hink, how great for you to meet your goal and taking the hills!!! emoticon

I am so happy for you.

I am still stuck at my weight. I just cannot seem to make it come off, even with exercise on a regular basis.

Now I am preparing for my next colonoscopy, so the liquid diet may kick start the loss again.

To all of you who are reading this... when it comes time to have your colonoscopy, DO IT. Yes the prep for the test is not fun, the test itself is easy. You get put out and feel no pain and it can really PREVENT getting colon cancer if polyps are found and removed before they turn into a cancer.

Have a good day and I hope that all the mess that is happening in Washington is not hurting you too much.

SparkyFriend, Vivian

Hello,
I went to the seminar last evening and the surgeon is greatly in favor of the sleeve over bypass and band.

My appointment with him is Thursday morning. The insurance request will be submitted after the appointment and I'll have to wait and see. I am hoping since I had a band, was successful, it had to be removed and I regained the weight it will show that I can be succesful with WLS and that they won't make me wait 6 months.

You all inspire me!!!

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've been on.

I'm about 16 months out and have stayed at the same weight- for months. :( Thinking this may be it... But I want to lose at least 10 more pounds to feel comfortable when I fluctuate.

Right now I am 160-163 and I'm 5'2. I'd love to be 140... but I'm already in a 6-8 and I'd have to buy new jeans :)
I went down to 155 when I was going through some things- but when I started eating normal again- I popped right back to 160.
During my cycles I can get to 165 - but not changing my size in clothing... but my mental status cannot take it- nor can my eyes when I look at me.
I know I have come a long way and I know all of the things that come along with it- but I'm struggling.

While maintaining- I eat pretty much what I want- but I'm healthy with it. I really have changed my lifestyle. I do, however enjoy chocolate once a day- which I didn't during my losing stage... and I feel like I can eat more now- which makes me panic. A cup of food is no problem. Even sometimes pasta meals. Which I use to only be able to take about 3 bites of. I still do protein first, then veggies. And I live off of chicken breast, broccoli, and salad. Not straying often.
I haven't been doing my protein shakes- but I am re-starting them.

Thinking I may try going back to basics... but I find myself hungrier now.

Thoughts?

~Stefanie

That's great Hink! I'm really looking forward to it. My running friends do yoga all the time and swear by it. They also do the hot yoga too. I hope you are able to find a teacher that you like and that works with your schedule!

The hills went great! Of course it rained the whole time, but it was fun running in the rain. Very refreshing! Of course when I'm in the midst of doing it, I'm thinking "what am I doing out here???",(well maybe not those exact words!) but then afterwards I'm glad I did it and feel so good.

Have a great day everyone!

Sheryl - I HAVE and I LOVE IT!!! With the right teacher, I would probably do YOGA almost every day! emoticon I really do find it to be a great workout and I love classes where the teachers really emphasize that yoga is about acceptance of the body you have :-)

I haven't done much lately - because I haven't found a teacher that I really enjoy and a class time that works with my schedule. But I was doing a once a week "Hot Yoga" class on Sundays for a while that I really enjoyed! Good Luck with your HILLS tonight!!

Congrats MSBARI on your weight loss, you're doing great! Your progress doesn't sound slow to me! emoticon

Well, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and I signed up for yoga emoticon for a month. I signed up through Groupon for a local yoga studio. I have some friends who also go there, so hopefully they can show me the ropes. I'm going to wait until after my half because I don't want to be too sore before then. So I will probably sign up for the month of Nov. Have any of you done yoga?

Hi Joan, I am more than 2 years out now (7/15/11). I've lost around 85 lbs and have been maintaining for about a year now. I had absolutely no complications. It was the best decision I ever made, wish I would have done it years ago!

Congrats Hink on your checkup, you're doing excellent!

Hi Jeni wells,

I appreciate your reply; it is great to have your input as a nurse who works on the unit as well as a sleever. I am an RN, too. Do they still do bands at your sight? I had he worst allergies while banded, constant sinus/nasal/coughing issues during the fall. I think my body was reacting to the band.
Do patients at your site stay in the hospital several nights? That's what I have seen posted on other sites. I went home an hour or 2 after being banded.
I worry because this surgery is so final. What are the projected risks for the elderly that have had this procedure?
Thanks for sharing your info!!

Hi there,
I have never personally had the lap band but everyone that I know has gained back at least half of the weight they originally took off. I know this works for some but there are many that struggle. I had my sleeve 6 months ago and I am also an RN on a bariatric surgical unit. I am extremely happy with my sleeve ( down 94#) and as a nurse have seen minimal complications with the surgery. You mentioned that you had some vascular injury to your stomach so you may be at a higher risk for gastric stricture. This normally occurs about 3-4 weeks post op where the opening to your stomach spasms or swells narrowing the opening and can cause vomiting. This can be treated with medication and will resolve. Certainly not something that should scare you away. If your ready.....go for it.

HI Joan - Welcome! I had the sleeve about six months ago, I have had a very positive experience with no complications.... I've been a pretty slow and steady loser. I am feeling great now! I have tried to follow my dr & nutritionists rules very closely and have just listened to my body.... I'm about 3/4 of the way to my goal and hope to reach 100 lbs lost by the time I get to 1 year out.

Good Luck!!

Hi Sheryl,
When did you have the sleeve procedure? How have things been going for you? Any complications?
Thanks! Joan

I am very sorry for your loss Cassie! My prayers are with you and your family. I lost my big bro when I was only 15, he was only 22. It's been many years and never does a day go by that I don't think about him.

Welcome Healthiermetobe! I've only had the sleeve, so I don't know if anyone on here has had band to sleeve before. Good luck to you and I know you will make the right decision for you.

Hello,
I am happy to have found a Sparkpeople sleeve group! I am considering having a gastric sleeve. The seminar I need to attend is on the 10th of October and my MD visit is on the 17th.
I had a lap band from Dec 2010-Dec 2011. I had a lot of complications with the band, it slipped and when the surgeon went in to repostion it he said my stomach's blood flow had been comprimised and I had a hiatal hernia so he had to remove everything. I don't think I can have a band again and don't think I'd want one even if I could have one. I lost 60# while banded and regained it all despite active diet and exercise. I am weary and so tired of this battle that I have fought and continued to lose since I was 16.

~Has anyone on here had a band with complications and removal, if so, how are you doing with the sleeve?

~How do you like having the sleeve? What complications have you had? Would you do it again?

Thanks for any and all wisdom that you can share!

Queendiva, so sorry to hear about your loss. I just lost my brother last August, he was only 19 years old, and a month later my grandpop passed away. It doesn't matter how old someone is or how/why they died...if it's a person that your are close to it hurts. Allow yourself the time to grieve- that is the best advice anyone gave me. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Hey,

Thanks to both of you Hink and Linda for the support. My brother is 13 years older than me. Our parents always said they had 2 famiies of 1 each. I started school in September after he graduated in May. It's hard to beleive he is gone.

Thanks for the prayers and support.

Aw Cassie, I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my big brother (11 years older) back in 1999. Even though I still have a sister, I miss him very much and understand your pain. I continue to keep you in my prayers.

Blessings,
Linda

Hey Everyone,

Linda, thanks so much for the new monthly chat. I'm afraid I didn't even think about doing it.

My brother passes away Saturday night after a lengthy illness. Even though I know he's not suffering in a much better place its very hard. He is my only sibling much older than I am. We have lost both parents so now I'm all alone. I need lots of prayers. Thanks for your support.

Look at it this way, COVATILA84, when you're healthy you can work harder and better toward getting those loans paid off and enjoy a LONG life! Let us know when you have a surgery date and in the mean time post whenever you feel like it...we're always glad to hear from you.

Blessings,
Linda

Well, I'm still here, still creeping around reading the posts every month. It looks like I will have enough money to have the surgery done (in Mexico, I'm a self pay) in January. (I've been waiting for a settlement from an accident). Today I was thinking, am I making the right choice in getting the surgery when I have so much debt and student loans to pay off? I could put that $9000 and pay off a lot! But then I thought about how unhappy I am...and how exhausted I am all the time...and how much my back and feet hurt when I walk, even though I love and miss walking and working out. And I decided that this is still the best way to spend my money. So I'm still here lurking, reading all your updates. And hopefully, ONE DAY, I will be posting my own updates :)
