I always do, always have.
In my car now, it would beep/ding like crazy until I put it on.

Puppet Joe, I how does the wearing of a seatbelt have a gender? LOL I'm always thrown off when people use "gay" to describe actions.

Yes, I always wear my seatbelt if there is one to wear. Even if I'm a passenger in a car when the driver isn't wearing his or hers, I will still buckle up. I don't even think about it. I just do it. I'm not sure when it became automatic like that, but it's a no brainer now.

ALWAYS.

Before seatbelts, my grandparents were in a car accident where their Chevrolet lost its brakes and the car rolled. He was a paraplegic after that, and lucky to survive (though I'm not sure he agreed). A couple of years before that, my mother had to slam on the brakes for something and my sister's face went into the front control panel. Good thing the switch sticking out there got her in the forehead instead of the eye. She still has the scar.

And about six weeks ago, our former babysitter was in a single-car accident where she was NOT wearing her seatbelt. She died at age 20, leaving behind a grieving family (3 little sisters included) and robbing the world of her compassion and generosity. emoticon

Please buckle up, if not for you, then for the people that love you.

They're called accidents because you don't get to choose when they happen, and all the driving skills in the world cannot completely protect you from the way OTHER people drive.

One day at a time...

heartstopper-That probably was a test for you. The instructor was waiting to see if you were going to use your belt first then she may went as far to see if you would drive off with an unbuckled passenger. It is the drivers responsibility to make sure all passengers are seat belted. I guess you passed that little lesson lol..I surely hope that the instructor wouldn't drive off with a complete stranger unbuckled. lol

Yeah, noting putting on yourself belt will fail you on your driving test. It is a law and if you break the law when you drive with the instructor you fail. It was funny, I just took my driving test last Friday, the instrutor gets in the Jeep and I look over at her and she looks at me strange. I keep looking at her, she bolts in her seat and puts on her seatbelt:) LOL! Student teaching the teacher there!!

I was just thinking, that when you go to take the drivers test at the MVA. If you don't fasten your seatbelt, it is an automatic failure. Could you imagine how silly you would feel, when you had to tell people you failed because you didn't do something so simple?

It is true that a seat belt is not helpful in some auto accidents. The number of times that a seat belt 'doesn't' save lives is so small compared to the number it 'does' save lives.

My friend is a Paramedic and he has seen things that I never want to see. And he is always saying wear your seatbelt.

No one is perfect. Even if they think they are.

Well, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna break the string. Jump on me, bi*ch at me, do whatever u wish, but I am one who RARELY buckles up.
Yes, it's a law here, but guess what, I have paid two $20 fines for not buckling up & I still don't wear it. I could really care less.

Think whatever you wish, but here is my "reasoning", no matter how stupid it sounds.

I will abide by all the laws of the road - speed limits, stop signs, stop lights, etc. But this is my own safety in my own vehicle. If I should choose to NOT buckle up & I die in an accident - that was my choice. U tell me what laws of the road I have to abide by - no problem. That is for the protection of the public and the other drivers on the road. If I should decide not to wear my seatbelt & I die as a result of it, that's my problem & my fault. Don't tell me what I have to do to save my OWN life. OK - so let the bi*ching commence!!

And secondly, my sister-in-law, 3 of their 4 children, her father & a family friend were involved in a car accident approx 9-10 yrs ago. They were forced off the road by someone else, ditched it, rolled & landed upside down in water. Two of the kids were thrown from the car and the rest were able to get out of the car following the incident. Her father & the 2 older children were able to get her out of the car. She would have never gotten out by herself due to a broken back. Our family has relived this accident over & over again. Her husband is a local volunteer firefighter & agrees..... had they been wearing seatbelts, they would have been trapped in the vehicle & drowned.

I agree seatbelts SAVE lives, but there are instances where they may cost a life as well.

Let me have it - I'm ready. emoticon

I always wear my seat belt and so does anyone who is in the same car with me. It is also the law here in California and it should be the law everywhere. Seat belts do save lifes! I always remember what happened to my best friend and her family. When she was four her family was in a bad car accident my friend lost her twin sister she was only four years old. My friend also lost her cousin that was 2 years old. One of her sisters has a metal plate in her head and the rest had cuts and bruises . But five kids laid bloodied in the road and she can remember that to this day and she remembers getting into a car with white seats seeing the blood get all over the seats as some family rushed them to te hospital near by. That was 38 years ago but it was so horrific that she will never forget. I shared my friends story with you all in hopes that you all will ALWAYS buckle up! Also remember most wrecks and fatalities happen within a mile from home because they thought they would just go there and back and everything would be ok. Seat belts save lifes so lets all buckle up!

I know several high school aged girls who say the seat belts wrinkle their clothes and won't wear them.

Me and my family buckle up 100% of the time. I grew up on military bases and my parents ALWAYS made us buckle up. It just comes natural to me and my kids!!

I always wear my seatbelt mainly because it's the law and having to pay a fine for something that takes 2 seconds seems stupid.

I actually never got to my car beeping at me for lack of a seatbelt my kids used to beat the car to it and would go "MOMMY SEAT BELT!!" even if I was still adjusting the mirrors and stuff.

Yes I do.

I always did, but my car has an alarm that goes off if I don't. It even has an alarm that goes off if my passenger doesn't put on their seat belt.

When I was little the car didn't move until everyone was buckled up.

I wear my selt belt ALL the time for two reasons:

* If I do not put on my seat belt within 15 seconds... the ding, ding, ding car alarm sounds over and over again until I put my seat belt on.

* If I do not wear my seat belt, there is a HEFTY fine to be paid to the court system here for failure to wear a seat belt... Seriously, the police do not play here.

so Yes I wear the seat belt EVERY time emoticon
thanks for asking the question :)

I do 99% of the time. I was little my family was having a day out. As we were driving along a car pulls out and dad had to slam on his brakes, my little brother wasn't wearing his seat belt, he flew up and hit head on a piece of iron, he had to be taken to the doctor and stitched up. So ever since then I have made damned sure I and whoever else is with buckles up.
