Feb 7: day 8, 40 slow recovery elliptical minutes :)

MINNIE - I overslept and missed the worst rain during the first three miles of the walk. Then it rained intermittently during the time that I joined the walk but nothing too bad.

NANADERRICK - I would count it. It's 45 minutes of constant motion!

LOUISIANAGAL KATHY - great for you discovering the joy of exercise! It will spill over into home :)

Have a great Super Bowl Sunday everyone!

I am one who never exercises, just not self motivated or laziness I suppose. Then a couple weeks ago I went to a new doctor. He asked me about any pain and when I told him my knees hurt me all the time and he asked if I wanted to try physical therapy. I never expected that but I told him I was willing to try it. I have been twice now and I'm wondering why it has taken me so long. The therapist has put me on some low impact exercise machines and has me doing some mini-squats, etc. I absolutely love it. Now I haven't gotten motivated to exercise at home yet but I believe that is coming next. And by the way...GEAUX SAINTS!!!

Day 1

10 minutes stationary bike(recumbant), 1.54 miles.
6 minute upper body workout with shake weight.

As I've just started back exercising I plan to cycle and do my shake weight workout on alternate days for a couple of weeks, then include cycling 6 days a week plus alternate weights and finally do both cycling plus alternate upper or core workouts daily, Tuesday to Sunday. After that I'll look at increasing my cardio time, possibly include some water based workouts and vary my strength workouts.

I always take one day off for recovery as I find the rest helps me improve faster. Monday is presently my nominated day as I work and have a class in the evening on that day so finding the time and energy to workout is difficult. I can work out both days at the weekends as I'm more rested then.

Today, Feb. 3 I walked 1 mile to school and back with my son. 20 minutes, so I walked kinda slow... oh, well. Getting back in to the swing of things. I really feel awesome today! I always do when I exercise.. funny thing... emoticon

My streak:

Feb 1: day 3, strength training
Feb 2: day 4, elliptical 31 minutes

MINNIE - I claimed 10 minutes BEFORE I got on the elliptical because we are DOING February together ;) but I ended up doing 31. That's the way it's supposed to work, right?

So far today is a fizzle. I feel really down. Having a hard time with my depression today. Any suggestions on what to do to combat it? I may try to take a walk to air out my head, but the calf-deep snow may impede this. Still, gonna try something. Say prayers.

RRRNDA - that sounds like fun!

Jan 30, day 1, 328 minutes walking (marathon training - 21 miles baby! woohoo!)

Jan 31, day 2, 40 minutes slow walking

EGRAMMY - we may go over 10 minutes, but the key really is about consistency and establishing a pattern of a healthy way of life. It's about squeezing it in where you can and making it a priority... and knowing that you can at least get in 10. And maybe it'll turn into more, and maybe not, but at least you get in that 10.

I worked out by using the Wii Sports and Summer Sports videos with my family all day. I mean like 5 hours all day. I figured I got about 1 hour exercise out of it, because I did include the harder stuff like boxing and stuff. This was Saturday. I am really psyched! We were snowed in, so we made it a family day. Had lots of fun!

- Drink water - 8 to 10 glasses every day.
- Read an exercise book for 5 min before doing 10 min exercise daily, it keeps you focused with your goals.
- Keep one day off for rest.
- If you miss a day, don't fret, start next day.
- Keep things simple, it's not complicated.
- Spark daily emails, helps tremendously.
- Have a fun day.
