Hi everyone, only did minimum of 10 mins yesterday but managed 35 mins at gym tonight on treadmill & bike. Hopefully will have time for more at weekend. Need to really, got weighed at gym tonight & found out damage from last 2 weeks bingeing and lazing around.

Minnie - Thanks for the tip! I tried belly dance on a friend's recommendation, and that was way back when I was a smoker. Our instructor was 7 months pregnant, but she decided to get all aerobic on us and had us leaping back and forth across a gym. I shouldn't even have been there that week, as I had bronchitis. I made it for 2 laps and fell over coughing. I never went back.

Claiming Day 191 - I needed to change something and ramp it up, so I did this walk as interval training. Even with warm up and cool down and rests, I could feel my heart get pumping, and I shaved 4 min off my Morning Mile. So, I'm all ENERGIZED! emoticon

Hey, Gia, - nice of you to have my back! I DID make it to the gym, and I guess that makes me weird. There were 3 cars in the lot when I left. I had to share the weights and track with 2 other people, but had the pool all to myself.

I love all the new stories and tidbits!
Day 185 of this streak begun with a brisk morning mile walk.
My doctor actually prescribed for me a book called Younger Next year - which has as its First Law - walk 30 minutes every day; NO EXCUSES! Well, that also covers my 10 min exercise challenge, so I get to report in here when I'm able to follow my normal routine.

Hi, everyone!

Well, as a result of some challenges with an almost 4-year injury to my back and shoulder, I have stopped moving altogether for the last few months and have not been doing ANY exercising. I easily get frustrated by my limitations and sometimes fall into the mentality of "Why bother."

But, thank you, Chris Downie (once again). :) This man always seems to light a spark in me and I'm happy to report that, yesterday, I put in 10 minutes of modified exercising and great stretching.

I've taken out my physical therapy band and will attempt some of the exercises I learned in PT.

Yesterday was Day 1; today will be Day 2.

Let's go, Team!

I'm still a bit new to all this, but I really love the idea of getting 10 mins of physical activity in each day. Rather than being overwhelmed, I feel this is a more realistic and achievable goal for me. Thanks so much for the email. It was just the extra encouragement I need right now! emoticon

Well, that 3 hour drive became a 4-hour drive on the waydown because of construction problems and traffic at a slow crawl for - really just a couple of miles, twice. I took a restroom break, but did NOT take time for a walk on the way there, as I was 30 min late for dinner anyway. On the way back I just didn't feel comfortable walking around at a rest stop in the dark sooo - I did crunches on cruise control. Felt silly, but 15 minutes of that (in 7-8 min stretches) DID make me notice my muscles. I also squeezed the steering wheel for a kind of weight training - AND, just for good measure put painting the window trim (balancing on a ladder) into the system and it was a recognized form of exercise. So, I feel fine about claiming the day.

Also claiming to - as day 182 - as I got in my traditional morning mile.

you must take breaks during 3 hr drive.

did 3 miles of dvd's , though not sure for which day to count it. had to work off caramel popcorn.

It's not really even day 181 yet, as it is not after midnight here, but I can see problems getting everything in. I need to finish painting the new windows on the front of the house, shop for groceries (we usually hit 3 stores) and drive 3 hours each way to see family for dinner. I have taken walking breaks on the drive before, so I will make it work, I guess.

Day 180 I have been very good today - SO FAR. Did weight training for 30 min at the gym, also some walking(swinging a weight in each hand) and treadmill and then swam 20 laps and then stretched. I hear the popcorn popping, and we're going out tonight soooo. I still claim the day!

Day 179 - my morning mile turned out to be longer than usual, lol - talking on the cell phone and couldn'tget off the line, I did a dozen extra circles of the parking lot.

Oh NO, Minnie! You are your own judge on the 10 min thing. I started over several times last time, and ALMOST gave in to temptation this time once already.

Welcome, Diana!

Day 178 begun with my morning mile.

- I got 7+ hours of sleep last night and I'm feeling SO much better. It's really a good thing that I can walk over work breaks, because there was 'a disturbance in the force' last night - the home computer was OFF its internet connection, the kitchen was in strobe mode and I fell asleep in my easy chair.
