Have been known to use Garmins, Magellans and even my iPhone depends on where I am at or doing at the time.

I use a Garmin Vista Hx for the actual caching. We use a Garmin Nuvi 1490 to get close to the cache a not get lost on country roads. My kids use Geomate, Jr.s. All work well, however would like to upgrade so that we can do Whereigos. We use GSAK to sort and download caches we want to do for the day. Love the adventures so far.

We just recently upgraded from the Garmin Etrex-H to the Garmin Etrex-HC. LOVE IT! The first model we had to punch in the coordinates manually. I love the plug and grab with the HC. So far battery life is good and it hasn't failed us yet.

I have been using my Garmin Nuvi (for the car) and I would love to have a unit that is actually made for outdoor use. I wind up with a binder of pages for each cache, my Garmin (telling me to drive to the road), and a compass, wandering around, trying not to look conspicuous with all this.

Does anyone have an old one they would like to find a new home for? I would be soooo grateful!

We started geocaching at the end of August. At that time we had a Magellen Crossover. We used it for our road gps but it also had outdoor capabilities. It worked well and got us to our first 30 or so caches. But I was tired of the managing of the ipod and the gps, so I got a Magellen Explorist GC. I love it, love it, love it!

Now, if only the rain and mountains and trees would get out of the way of a clear signal... ;)

I'm a multi-GPS user. I use TomTom to get me where the cache is. I have a lot of the local caches inported into the TomTom, so it pops up when I am close to one. When I am hiding caches or need precision, I used my Garmin eTrex H. And my daily GPS is the c:Geo program for Android. It's quite possibly the best program out there for geocaching, aside from the geocaching.com website.

I use a TomTom as well. It has a long/lat setting that I use to zero in on the target. Sometimes is it dead on & sometimes its a few feet away. I hear it has something to do with ufo's circling the planet or some other sci-fi mumbo jumbo:)

I use the Garmin ETrex H. Works pretty well. Downside is that you need a special cable to download coordinates from the internet so we pretty much just write them on sticky notes for each cache and work it that way. It gets us within a couple feet. For those that have used the IPhone - what are your thoughts? Is it pretty accurate?

I have a Delorme PN-40. I like it, but think we bought it too soon after it was introduced.

We've had memory trouble and the rechargeable battery that we bought with it is crap. It uses AA batteries too so we're ok there. We did have to send it back to have some work done on it that was covered under the warranty.

Delorme has been easy to work with and honored their warranty with no issues. So we may buy from them again in the future.

I had been using a TomTom - great directions to drive to the general area, not so good for zeroing in when you got there. Just got an ETrex H - much better, even if it's not an ideal for geocaching. It helped once I figured out how to type in coordinates! The only thing I don't like is that it would cost more for an interface cable than it did for the GPSr!

Probably better to ask how many GPS receivers do you now own. I love my Garmin 60cx. I am working on my second one because I wore the antenna cover off the tip of my other one. I still use it with one of those rubber finger thingies from the office so rain won't get in it. I also have a quest in my car. I just bought a Nuvi 550 and should receive it later this week. Quest works fine, but larger screen for old eyes places the Nuvi on my must have list. I have a few other units, but these are the ones I use. happy caching everyone.

I use the Geocache Navigator on my Blackberry. It can be off by a few feet, but I was told that could be because of trees, etc. If I wait a bit, it usually ends up being right on top of the cache.

Very new at this sport, but am enjoying it. Trying to get my husband more interested in it.

I'm using an eTrex as well. Got a great deal on it...but you're right...sometimes it's off by about 10 feet. It's always interesting when it tells you the cache is in the middle of a road.

I have a eTrex too... it's brand new, and I'm very happy with it... although sometimes I have a little error of 7 meters or so, but I guess that's normal.
