I've been riding my bike and stopping at the park to read. It is so nice to read outdoors while enjoying nature.

Went on a walk yesterday. 3.2 miles. Didn't plan to go that far but I encountered a long haired wiener dog running toward me like he just broke out of jail. Didn't think much of it until a couple of blocks away I see the dogs owner looking frantic. I told him (from a distance) where I saw the dog and which way it was headed. Saw the dog again after it had circled around the block and running opposite me. Saw the owner again, told him which was it went. He went right.... I went left and figured one of us would surely catch the dog. So.... kept walking way farther then I planned and I turned the corner here comes the dog towards me....his owner about a block away closing in. Dog didn't want anything to do with me, turned around and went towards his owner. Yay happy ending!!! Owner said the dog has never don't something like that. Got to thinking poor pup had probably had enough of his owner in quarantine.... needed a break. lol

Reading at home.....Cup a tea, warm blanket on my legs, roof over my head, food in my fridge, cozy and comfy. What quarantine? Pretty normal situation for me. I'm in my element. There is no place like home. Being an introvert is finally paying off!!! and the fact I've been a stock pile shopper since forever.

Even though the Library is closed, there are quite a few free E-book websites out there.

Be healthy and safe everyone!

Yes! I heartily agree. When I'm sick or sad or out of sorts, I read a book. Or go to a bookstore. Flipping pages, smelling new book buoys up my spirit.

A late response coz I am a Spark returnee after being away for maybe 8 years :>))

Glad to be back and connecting with fellow pursuers of well-being and readings.

I have my books downloaded for the year. I usually read 20-26 books a year. Read 22 books last year plus the Bible in print and audiobook. Reading is the best experience in the world. I love that they allow you to put yourself in someone's else shoes.

I tend to jump to the end of a book sometimes. It is a bad habit and it drives my daughter crazy.

@Holly I do not but know people who do.

@Leona I am trying to be more present on SP too.

@Carol I can't do ebooks, I can't focus long. I have been doing audiobook while driving (I drive for work) and house chores (makes dishes and such so much better!) and physical book mostly at bedtime.

Ironically, one of my goals is to be off technology more which contradicts bring on sp but I'm setting limits. Once in it is easy to stay on :0) good people make it that way. I've got my groups limited to the ones that I really enjoy and participate in that are active and fun.

Hugs all, have a happy day :0)

Holly, although I am tempted I do not read the end of the story unless it is a boring book and I do not plan on reading the book.

I've been reading a lot of e-books. They are enjoyable!

Holly- emoticon to all. I always say a baby is a gift from God.

I sometimes read the end of a book. I want to know if there is a sad ending. I still read the book.

I re-watch movies and so know the ending. I watch the Wizard of Oz every year and re-watch Journey to the Center of the Earth (with James Mason and and Pat Boone), each time it is on TV.

I need to be on this site more. I do the bonus spins for the team all the time and today got a good one (50) and decided to check some messages.

Curious if any body else does this. I snuck a peek at the end of the book I'm reading. My two favorite characters are killed off! I sat for a while so mad at myself, pouting. Then so desperate to read I thought well, I don't know HOW it happened. So I'm reading it and scolding myself never never never never again!!!!! LOLOLOL

I have rejoined this team and hope I can keep up with the messages this time.

I am on goodreads and my challenge to read 50 books has the ones I read from 2015. It keeps track for me. it will show the covers of the book and how many I read for the year.

If any of you are on LibraryThing, they are doing the challenge of searching for books and they give you clues. This time the subject is pirates and you are to find 18 books, authors, etc. I finished mine today. The challenge is only for a week and so I think there are about 4 or 5 days left. It is interesting.

I started to. Before my eyes got so bad I have to go to an e reader, it worked great. But I read short stories, When I read books I got collections of stories. Now with an e reader I get most of my stories as stand alone. Now many stories is a book, do you count stories or pages. I have read shorts as small as one page and as big as 90 pages. That is also why if you look on where you mark you when you reads a book, I only make a couple a month. I can read a couple a day. Ok the one page stories were in a collection. Yes I will read books besides shorts. They are just what I like.

A question to the group. Does anyone keep a written record of what you have read? I started a 3 ring notebook of who and what I had read in 2016. I keep track of how many books I have read. For example I know I read :
2016 read 85 books
2017 read 107 books
2018 read 88 books
2019 read 85 books to date

I also keep an A-Z author section with the books I have read of each author.

So do you guys do this?

First things first, I'm MaryAlice, Mom is Alice.
I was a Bata reader for a couple authors and several times a year they would send out memos about words that sound alike and the meaning of each. Mom was an English teacher. The grammar or lack thereof these days drives her nuts.

Do I have this right?
Your their because there having you're party they're?
My spell check says it is OK.

I'm going to try something new. Lets see if this works. I don't have any problem getting my walks in. 2 big dog make sure I get 2 hours a day dog walking. My strength exercise is another problem. I use to blame it on work, but now I'm retired, So I can't read till I do my strength, if I get it done in the morning I get extra. Not sure what that will be. I just pick up my Kindle when I see it unless I've put it away and who puts a kindle away. There it is official. I have put it in writing and told someone.

I added READ to my SP Plan Your Day Goals. Should have done that a long time ago. Reading is good for me - it means, besides working my brain, I am relaxed and there's usually a cup of tea or a piece of fruit to go along with the book:)

I was trying to say I'll just read one chapter. That didn't work. The authors took the chapter breaks out. Well I didn't see them and that's what I told DH. I've gone to reading shorts. I love shorts, but want a longer book sometimes, so it isn't a big deal.

.My husband got me a stationary bike so I could put the book on a holder next to the bike and exercise and read at the same time. I really think he did it for him, he uses it more then me, but whatever he wants to say..

Yes he is a reader. DD thinks it is funny. She comes over, we are sitting side by side in our recliners in our own little worlds. Him in some si fi, me is my fantasy.

For a while I was reading more then exercising, so now it's time to make the switch. I read at night to relax and settle down after the day

Trying to read a bit more this year. Probably should be exercising instead but this is exercising my mind.

I haven't done as much reading as I would like. We moved to AR. having to do all the things you have to do when you move across country, I haven't had a chance to read. I did take a break today and hiked a state park, just a little 1 mile hike, but gave me a break.

It looks like I'll be doing some reading this weekend. The temp. is supposed to drop and snow expected. Not as much expected for those of you out east.

Frabbit, I gave up all caffeine as well. It wasn't too hard since I do not like coffee or tea. I use to drink pop. I am doing so much better after giving that up.

Late to this discussion but I never developed a taste for tea especially hot. I used to like snapple raspberry ice tea but I've given up all caffeine.

If you are raised in south FL by a British mother and Texan father, you drink tea. Lots of tea. Hot in the morning and when you feel bad and cold during the day.

A cup of tea and a good book is always welcome in our house. I have to tell myself, I will sit down with my tea and book after my evening chores and exercise are done, or nothing gets done not even dinner.

MaryAlice, Wow that is quite a big difference . We are basically in the 20's and 30's and then sometimes the 40's. That always messes my sinuses up.
