Reading two books right now, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and starting Pride and Prejudice after just having seen the version with Keira Knightley. I can't believe I've never read this before and looking forward to it.

I'm enjoying the book I'm reading too--Flight Pattern by Karen White. Never read her before, but I do like her style. This story is about a woman who is a specialist of china patterns and does research on them. Her father is a bee keeper so there is a lot of information on bee keeping which is kind of interesting. I'm over half way through right now. Hope to get in some serious reading time today.
Have a great day everyone!

Hope everyone had a good weekend and got in some reading time. I don't know what I would do without my books! The one I am reading is quite interesting. It has a lot of information about bees and bee keeping. Something I never thought much about. I've learned so much from reading!
Went out for a walk this morning around our community. Beautiful day! I needed to get up and moving again and will try to keep it up.
Hope your day is off to a good start. I need to go and make the bed and do a little sweeping. Time to face the day. Make yours a good one!

I posted this on the cat lovers thread then thought you folks might like it.

After a few days of cold weather when Fancy stayed curled up in a tight ball, even it the house, it is warmer today low was only 46. Fancy is running from one end of the house to the other, in and out of rooms, banging into the dog, it is like she is chasing something and is afraid of loosing it. DH and I were talking about when we took creative writing in school. What if the teacher said we had to write a short storie about what the cat saw and why it was running. The cat could be chasing something, running from something or late for a very important date. I love shorts, but am not a writer.

thank you so much - hooked up with overdrive for my phone using the library card I had from another state but was still active - found a book to read via phone on the plane - also saw sime on ibooks - there are some free classics - hope to read Wuthering Heights (my favorite of all time) if I can find it for free on my phone -

tomorrow is last day in AZ - then heading off to NJ -thinking only positive thoughts for making the very short turn over time to next flight - I asked for a wheelchair but they do not always show up - still believing I will make it and land in Jersey as planned - would appreciate positive thoughts and prayers for travel - thanks -

I have a website called instadreebies.com that I get books from. Some are also free on amazon, some are free in the hopes you will buy the second in the series, some are from new authors that are trying to get established and ask for a review and some are advanced reader copies. There is nothing that says you have to leave a review, but it is but it is pretty much understood that if you download an ARC you will leave a review as soon as the book is released on at least one site that carries the book. The 4 main sites are Kindle, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. You don't have to join instafreebees, but if you do they will keep all your books in their library.

I have gotten free books from Kindle, B&N Smashwords and Kobo. B&N and Kobo are both epub and you can't read them on your kindle, but can with an app on you android tablet.

Smashwords can be downloaded in several formats with epub, mobi and PDF being the most common. Smashwords is for Indi authors only, many authors started out there, some of the authors will never be published anywhere else. I've gotten some real good books from authors before they were published anywhere else and I have deleted some the next day.

You can also go to you public library and borrow e books for 2 weeks, just like checking out real books. Many belong to overdrive and are linked with other libraries so you have an even wider selection. Most let you check go line for your books so you don't have to keep going back to the library. If you want the latest book you will most likely have a waiting list, but if you are willing to get older books, you can check them out right then.

Thanks for the information, I have historically passed on series books for this very reason. I picked up the first one not knowing it was part of a series. Ran out to get second because I thought it was that good and now I'm a little sad. Many reviews on GoodReads make it sound like there won't be another but I'm conducting my own search in hope.

I'm not against e-reading, it just isn't for me. I can't read as long and end up rereading same lines over and over again, can't keep my place on the page.

Sad that we live in a world where kids are ashamed to read.

I believe in you.

I read for several authors. Some release books every month and some just a couple a year. Some are doing several series at a time. Most try to release the first two within about 6 months to get interest and the last one about a year later, to give everyone time to read the first tow.One thing I have noticed is about a month before a book is to be released one of the first books in the series will be a free ebook. I would watch the prices of the first books on Amazon.

I swore I would never do e books, then was in a car accident and the Dr said because if a shoulder injure my purse must weigh less then 3 pounds. That meant a small purse with a limited number of small things. Books were out. E readers weigh less then books and a smaller. Then I discovered the number of free books I could get. Once just to see how long I could do it I went 3 years without buying a book except my comparative religion books. Don't think I've bought more then 2 or 3 in the last 2 years.

They say that among children and young adults where reading is nerdy, the tablet has gotten many reading again. They read on their tablet and if someone is coming they switch to a game real quick.

I'm not big on e-reading. I like paper books but happy they are making changes for those that like technology.

I have a question. I just finished a book.which is second in a series but it doesn't appear that there is a third yet. I've tried searching online and just reached out to publishers to see when third will be released (if there will be one). Any other suggestions to research this? The book doesn't say there will be another but I can see where there should be. Maybe I'm just hopeful. Thanks for any ideas.

I believe in you.

I spent years trying to get Kindle to update their 9 inch e reader. They kept saying there wasn't enough demand. Well on Oct 31 they came out with a 7 inch, not as big, but bigger then the 6. I noticed today for the third time since the 31st they are sold out and you can get on the waiting list to get the e reader. That and many of the reviews gave the e reader 2 stars because it wasn't big enough. Maybe they are getting the message that there are people like me that think publishers are making the print smaller and smaller.

I have wanted a 8 inch e reader for some time. The letters are just getting too small. The best one I could find was the Kobo Aura One, it is a 7.7. The big problem I had with it is that it isn't available in the US, and I like to touch and feel my e readers before I buy. Well there is a Amazon store in the mall about 20 miles from me. I told them I was I was thinking about getting the Kobo because they didn't support the HDX any more. The guy told me to wait 2 months. I went home and looked it up. Kindle was coming out with a 7 inch e reader in 2 WEEKS. I got it yesterday. So light and the letters so crisp.

DH checked the reviews by people that do pre release reviews. Yes the screen on the Kobo is bigger, but the headers and footers are bigger so the reading area is the same. They said the Kobo was the better e reader, but the things they said were better don't matter to me. Things like the Kobo was water resentment to a greater depth. The Kindle is about $20 more then the Kobo, but to me it is worth it to be able to mess around with the e reader before I buy it and have a store closer then 2000 miles I can go to and talk to somebody.

For those that don't know, I was a big one for books, no e reader. Then I was in a car accident and the DR said my purse had to weigh less the 3 pounds. Everything had to become smaller, big purses are up to 2 pounds just for the purse, and lighter.

I had a great time, I saw 2 of my sisters and my brother. I don't see my brother often. We had long walks on the beach.

Debated hard books verse e books. How strange it felt to have a family reunion with out piles of books to swap because so many of us have gone to e books. Mom was the main holdout. She was waking 1.5 miles to the library getting 10 books and walking home only to carry them back a week later and get 10 more. We tried to tell her it would be so much easier on her back if she had an e reader. We figured out that her problem was she didn't think e readers support the library. After we convinced her it did. She excepted an e reader my husband got her. Now she walks 1.5 miles to the library, downloads 10 books and walks home, The library is trying to convince her she can do it from her home computer. But no she has to go to the library. Mom is 85 and I don't think she can not go to the library once a week. Besides they say exercising your brain helps you from getting dementia, and exercising your body keeps your body healthy, so she can download books at the library if that makes her happy.

Happy Birthday to Birthday person. I had a dr that told me once the more people that wish you happy birthday the healthier you would be the next year, so I try and wish everyone a happy birthday, even if I don't know them. Have fun
