Those of you living where you aren't use to this heat and your houses aren't built for it:

Spend at least some time during the heat of the day in AC. Go to the library, grocery store, mall any where that has AC.

Drink plenty of water. Water is best alcohol is worse. If you have a problem with water or don't seam to be able to drink enough, add a little low sugar sports drink. My Dr says the most common one and easiest to find is G2 gator aid. Just make sure it is G2.

At home, fans lots of fans, yes they might be just moving the hot air, but they are drying your sweat which is how your body cells itself

Back in the old days we use to put a block of ice in front of the fan. I saw were they are now selling these things that you put ice cubes in add water and turn the fan on.

Remember the young children and elderly have problems with the heat. As far as I can tell the young because they won't sit still and go till they drop from heat exhaustion and the elderly because many don't know, or won't admit they are hot.

Waited till 7 last night to mow. It was down to 90, but at least the sun wasn't as bright. Still 50 minutes with a push mower left me a sweaty mess

I saw something you guys will like. This lady is a 1st grade teacher, her students are going to 2ed grade in the fall. All the other classes were sending home packets of summer homework so the students wouldn't fall behind during the summer, she didn't and her parents were upset. so here are her is her summer homework.

Summer is a time for fun and relaxation, so all this should be fun.

weekly

write a letter, not a text message with aberrations no one over 30 understands, half sentences and emojis. A pencil to paper letter. It can be to a grandparent, friend or pen pal. If you don't think they know how to write a letter or have problems getting around, include a self addressed stamp envelope.

Take a hike, don't see how fast you can go stop and look at the flowers and bugs. A trip to the museum once in awhile instead is a good idea.

Make something with your children. Something that involves reading and following directions.

Now this is the part you will love and don't need

Daily

Have your child read to you. ask questions to make use they understood. Stop before the end of the story and ask how they think the story will end

read to your child.

have your child do silent reading. Ask about the story Make sure they understood it.

Very important make sure your child sees you read an adult book. That's right it is important your child sees you sit down with a book and read. A book you enjoy. It can just be 10 or 15 minutes, but YOU need to read everyday.

Had cataract surgery yesterday, it went well. The only thing that is driving me nuts now is that I'm no longer wearing my glasses. The right eye has improved since the surgery, but the left eye still is blurry for reading.

MaryAlice,

The scales are not always a true indication that you are getting thinner. I have gone down in size recently, but he scales have not moved. I'm sure it is due to the exercise also.

The scales aren't going up, but my gut is getting bigger. I remember reading something many years ago by a trainer, He was talking about not just doing exercise for X number of minutes everyday, but doing little things all day.

His example was you can do crunches for an hour a day, but if you let it all hang out for 23 hours a day it won't work. So I decided to try doing 1 ab exercise every 1 to 2 hours, Just 5 to 10 reps of one exercise. I used SP chair core exercise for exercises when I'm at the computer. I have a list of floor exercises I can do when I'm up and about, and a third list of a couple I can do when standing in line. This is my 3rd day, the capris I wore the first day and were a little snug, need a belt today. The scales haven't moved.

I get quite a few good books, both for me and my grandson that is reading chapter books now. Yes we delete some but many we keep. I love shorts and will if the price is right, and free is right, just about anything except hot and steamy with a short. So I do end up deleting many books.

I am not don't know the places you listed, but with instafreebis: they will send the book to you mobi, epub or PDF. They send you an email. I side load it on to my e reader, but there are directions for sending it to your e reader. Your books are in a cloud and if you sign up you will have access to your cloud, free. From there you can download it anywhere you want. If you have an instanafreebie app on your phone, tablet what ever, you can download the books to that device. Everyday they send out free books for a different gaunra.

I also get emails from authors I like. They tell me when one of their books is on instafreebies. Some times when I pull it up there are a lot of similar books, sometimes it goes straight to their book.

Many authors use instafrreebies for prequels, shorts to show people who they are, or for the first book in a series when another book in that series comes out. Especially if it has been a while since the first. Other authors are new. Sometimes it is where an author says a lot of people are asking about someone in the book, so they wrote a short backstory about that person.

MARYALICE411, I was wondering with Instafreebies do you have good books that you download? You mentioned you do not feel bad about deleting some. I have Bookbub & scroll until it is free. I have had good books from there that I got for free.

My husband wants to know why I just download 6 new books from instafreebies to my e reader. I already have 6 pages of un read books on my reader. What can I say, they looked good and were free. Maybe there will be a spell when there is nothing worth downloading. Also with free books I don't feel bad if I don't like it and delete it. I'm also more apt to try a book in a gunda I'm not real fond of or one I haven't tried before. Sometimes I find I don't like a gunda but there is a sun gander that is ok.

Hi

Finished the book of Judges today. I am reading more with the help of audible. I ordered two books from History Club. Bad News is part of the Patrick Melrose series which will be a mini-series on Showtime in May. Looking forward to see how the books transform to the screen.

Carol, sorry to hear about your arthritis. I have it too and it can be tough. Don't get discouraged and I am adding you to my prayer list.

Hi all

Good day today. Read my Bible and I will read tonight in Patrick Melrose. The book is really great so far. It really shows how messed up even people with money and status can be. I already have a lot of empathy for the patrick melrose character. The abuse by his father is outrageous.

MARYALICE, Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful celebration with my kids & my daughter's boyfriend. My favorite gift is my rolling walker since it will give me more independence. I haven't been able to go to Kohl's in years since it is so hard with my cane. I finally went this year since I lost weight and needed clothes. I used their wheelchair like a walker. My son gave me a soundbar too which I really needed for my T.V. It sure helps with the sound. My daughter also gave me an Olive Garden gift card. I cannot have a meal with my IBS issues, but I can have the appetizer.

Hi Sandy, I listen to audio books when I'm driving or while I'm on the exercise bike watching a walking video. I switched to an e reader when I had a car accident and the DR said my purse had to weigh less the 3 pounds. I love shorts, collections, prequels, on the e reader I can get shorts authors have on their website. Also Smashwords sometimes has Short Story contest for new authors. Some of them aren't worth anything, but some authors end up being big names and I read their shorts when they were starting.

Hi

my name is Sandy and I just joined. Reading is one of my hobbies and I average reading about 20 to 25 books a year. I am 56 years young and live in Pottstown PA.

I have gotten into the audio book craze since I have difficulty reading when I am in a lupus flare. I am presently reading three books at the same time. Patrick Melrose series, My Bible, and a true crime book. I just finished Frenemies a book on the FBI.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

I need to get my exercise in today, but am so tired. I know I'll feel more awake afterwards, so off I go.

That is one thing about everywhere I have lived, well I can remember living. The warmest, when it gets down to 50 degrees they close the schools, it is too cold for children to be outside. The coldest it snowed once, been here 30 years.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

I am looking so forward to Spring, getting tired of looking out the window at the bare trees & snow.
